Purchased Four (4) recessed lights for installation on February 13, 2016. The company stated that their first available time to install the lights was March 17th. They called on March 16th to confirm the appointment. Then on the 17th, they never came to install the lights. I waited for them and they never called to say that they were not coming. No courtesy call or anything....just had me waiting. Serious lack of professionalism. I called them and they stated that they had an emergency.
Description of Work: NO SHOWS! DID NOT COME AT ALL. Purchased Four (4) recessed lights for installation on February 13, 2016. The service from Bailey & Shipp Electric was absolutely outstanding. In addition to the extremely professional work that was done, the professional, courtesy, professional conduct and care that I received from the employees was well above any standard that I've ever seen. They really did a fantastic job here. Their service was truly appreciated and highly recommended. A letter of recommendation for promotion has been sent to their employee who provided the service.
Description of Work: They replaced inside and outside electrical outlets, replaced circuit breakers inside my fuse box and replaced wiring outside in addition to placing winterized protective covers on three outside electrical outlets as well as other things.

The issue was (and still is) a non-functioning outdoor lamp-post light fixture and the outlet attached to the same post. The whole process took course over 3 days, time which I had to take paid leave days off from work to have completed. Originally, the receptionist stated that they did no-cost estimates. This was misleading, as they later claimed that from the description I provided, an estimate was unnecessary and they would be willing to come out to troubleshoot the issue for $125 an hour, with a minimum 2 hours payment required. After some discussion, they reduced the pre-set price to $200 for the troubleshooting if it was under 2 hours. The first technician was 3 hours late, and I was only made aware as to the reason for the delay after I called the company office (an hour after the appointment time). He came out, did minor troubleshooting such as testing the GFCI outlets, flipping breakers and using a multi-meter. After about 30 minutes, he told me there was no power to the switch, and another technician would come out to provide an estimate for a re-wire or whatever might be needed. The next technician was scheduled to come out the very next day, but no-showed. AGAIN, I had to call the office (an hour after the appointment time) to find out that he was delayed in D.C. and would be unable to come to the house that day, but should make it the next day. When the senior technician arrived, he was apologetic for the inability of the primary technician to fix the issue and made an effort himself to do some rewiring to the switch to restore power to the lamp post. The light fixture would not turn on, but he stated "There is now power at least to the post-head and to the outlet. If you replace the post-head, that should fix the light problem." I thanked him for his effort and was glad enough to have a functioning outlet. My wife and I bought and installed a new post-head over the weekend, yet the light still didn't work. We tested the outlet and the outlet didn't work either. I called the company during the week (6 days after the job), and was forced to use the receptionist as a messenger between myself and the technician. The message sent was "We told you we restored the power, but would need to replace the switch, outlet and post-head. We never said the outlet was working, and can have someone come out to do a cost estimate for that work if you'd like." Word-play, and an attempt to get me to pay more money on a job I already paid for? Never again.

After David checked the cause that day, for less than our hourly rate due to his tardiness, we had our Service Manager come back out and repair it for free. He will happily put the lamp post head on for you, which is the last step to having this problem resolved. Installer and dispatcher were extremely professional and contacted me at every step of the process. Electrician arrived on-time, accessed the best methodology and completed the install in a flash. I paid for a small upgrade to LED lighting since code required it for a bathroom installation. For the amount of work, cutting holes in the ceilings, etc. I expected to see a mess, but when complete, there was not a speck of debris anywhere and the drywall finisher I had on standby was NOT needed as the electrician's craftsmanship was perfectly flawless. Whenever I need electrical work, Bailey and Shipp and their installer, Cortez are the best in the business. Thanks Angie's List

Honestly, Bailey and Shipp have done an amazing job both times we have had them install recessed lights. They have always sent us the same electrician - Jarred and he is very good. He lines the lights up very carefully so they look good. We have had other contractors misalign and nothing looks worse. He takes the time to make as few cuts in the drywall as possible and is careful to reinstall any drywall pieces he had to make so it can be very easily cleaned up afterwards. His ability to fish the wires through the ceiling is amazing. He is careful to keep everything as clean as possible not an easy task when cutting drywall and there is a lot of dust. We are very impressed. He works quickly and efficiently and is very professional in all interactions. We are incredibly happy with Bailey and Shipp and will definitely be using them again in the future.

The house is being fixed up and the service provider worked unsupervised. The quality of workmanship was excellent. I was amazed when I stopped by afterwards. They did a good job of sweeping up all the dust and debris from the install. My only issue was that the price that was stated turned out to be more. This was due to the ceiling being plaster rather than drywall and adding a switchplate. Apparently, the special is for drywall ceilings only. This was explained to me after they had arrived on scene. All in all, a job well done.

The electrician actually showed up early, which is a first for me. I told him the issue that I thought that I had with the recessed lights (i.e., they weren't working at all). It turns out that there was a disconnect between the type of dimmer switch that my soon to be ex installed and the type of bulbs that were put in the recess lights. He discovered what the issue was, provided me with the correct bulbs, and now I can use those lights in my living room again after not using them in just shy of a year.

The service was prompt and professional, and we are very happy with the results. Lighting in our living room had been problematic and we had some horrible track lighting from the 80s. The new recessed lights give our space a much more modern look. The lights have worked very well. No complaints! Great value for money.

The company was great throughout the process. It was easy to set up an appropriate appointment time that was convenient to us. They called both one week out as well as the night before to confirm the appointment. On the day of the appointment, the electrician called to let us know he was on the way and he arrived on time. He went to work quickly and worked right up to the last minute in order to complete our projects. He was extremely professional, friendly, and courteous. We would use this company again.

First off, let me just say that the technician was a little late, but was professional/knowledgeable. The mix up that occurred was NOT the fault of the technician, it was with the front office. I had minimal electrical jobs that needed to be done. Very simple, I wanted dimmer switches installed, which 1. would not have taken 2 hours and 2. realistically didn't cost $129. However, I'm not a professional/electrician, so thought the price was just okay. I asked the front office (Kandi) if a technician could contact me beforehand so I could explain what I needed done and he could direct me on what I could purchase the weekend prior. This approach would've saved time. However, she said she would tell the technician what I needed done and would get back to me, but assured me that they had all of the materials and could provide them at cost. I asked are you sure because it was nothing for me to pick up everything at Home Depot the weekend prior. Nevertheless, she talked me out of it and said their materials would be inexpensive. When the technician arrived, I told him what I needed done and if he had time, a few other projects that he could check/mitigate. I was also having a motion light issue and wasn't sure if that could be mitigated or if I needed a new one all together. After his inspection, he said he could put a new light up. He took my old one down and told me of what the "additional" charges would be for the light and dimmer switches (3). I almost fainted when he said that it would be an additional $375 dollars! I told him that dimmer switches only cost about $15 and a motion light $60 at best. He told me their dimmers were $75 a piece and the light $150. So much for getting these items at "cost". We called the front office and I spoke to Kandi. She never apologized, admitted her mistake or how badly they had inconvenienced me. I had taken half a day from work (which as a consultant, I'm not paid when I'm absent). She suggested that I go get the materials and reschedule for another day (not happening) or go get the materials right then during the 2 hour window, which 45 minutes had already passed, and allow the tech to finish with whatever time was left (hmm, NOT two full hours at that point). I told her neither would work for me. She spoke to the "manager" and he said that he would take $75 off of the $375 extra charge. I told her that $300 for three dimmer switches and a motion light was still inflated. I cancelled the work at that point and told her that I would be requesting a refund. The time I took off from work amounts to the additional $375, except I can't get that pay back for their company wasting my time. I would not recommend anyone use this company because they clearly lied about the "cost" of the materials just to gain business and do a bait and switch. POOR business ethic and practice. I feel bad for the technician because his time was ALSO wasted and he could've done another job, or if I had the materials he would've finished up in the 45 minutes that we wasted. Angie's granted a refund, I found a local handyman who installed the dimmers for $60. The switches were at Home Depot and cost $20. NOT $75 per. I hate that they tried to rip me off, when all I was trying to do was save time and money.

She wouldn't let me speak to a technician prior so that I could purchase my own materials but convinced me that the materials they provided were sold at wholesale.

I can assure you that we in no way were trying to be dishonest or mislead you at any point throughout the process. The deal that you purchased gathered a lot of popularity and our technicians had very busy schedules throughout this time. It is not in our usual protocol to have every technician call the customer beforehand to consult the job and the material needed. We have our electricians do that on the job site so they can be sure that they are providing you with the most accurate information about the process and the material needed. If customers choose to provide material, we will happily install said material, but if it is not provided we must either supply it at our pricing or pay for the time that the electrician is out while the customer or our technicians purchase the material. Our trucks are well equipped with commonly needed material with the intention of getting you the full 2 hours of labor that you purchased. As for the office staff, I apologize if there was any discrepancy or lack of information. It unfortunately would not be possible for us to provide material at cost considering that we are still trying to provide you with a service and many elements go into completing this. Our deal was not put in place to hide any details from the customer, we are always upfront about the cost of the job before the work is performed and we apologize that this was too late for you. This was an unfortunate miscommunication and we stand by our service and our technician. It is our hope to satisfy every customer from the beginning of their experience to the end and we are very sorry that we have not accomplished that for you this time. Thank You

Had a power outage a couple of weeks ago during a storm which caused the GFI outlet in one bathroom to trip. It would not reset. Saw the Angies list deal for 2 hours of electrical work for $129 which I bought as we needed 2 outlet switches replaced as well. Company called and we set up date for service. Cortez arrived at our house and checked GFI outlet and replaced 2 switches for us. He was courteous and professional. When he was finished he said it was $75 additional for the 2 switches. I questioned if this was correct and he said it was and I paid him. I checked Lowes that same afternoon and saw the same switches for about $10 each. I called the company the following morning and told them this as I felt they had ripped me off. I was told I should have bought the switches myself. I have had work done over the years and this has never happened-if anything I have been told that they get a better price and get anything extra from them. I think this company is making out by doing what they did to me on a regular basis.

The scheduler called me immediately to set-up the appointment and followed up the day before the scheduled installation to confirm. The electrician showed up as planned, on time and ready to get to work. He walked me through the process and explained what he would be doing. We discussed the various options for recessed lighting and the electrician made a recommendation based on the the lighting in the rest of house. He pointed out a potential issue with regard to the installation and gave me two options on how to connect the lights. I opted to have the wires threaded through the ceiling. The electrician took special effort to minimize the impact to the ceiling and made sure the cuts were replaced and ready for drywall repair. I was pleased with the professionalism of everyone I spoke to at Baily and Shipp and have retained their services to have additional lights installed. I highly recommend this company for your lighting and electrical needs.

Cortez arrived on time and immediately assessed my request to replace a light fixture with a crystal chandelier. The chandelier was shipped from out of the country without any instructions, but he was able to build the fixture with all the parts. He was totally knowledgeable of putting together all the delicate pieces and took care throughout the job. I am totally satisfied with what he did and l will definitely recommend his work if asked by friends and neighbors.
Description of Work: The Electrician (Cortez) changed a light fixture to a crystal chandelier in my dining room. He also replaced a GFE and two outside electrical outlets.

Bailey and Shipp Electric did an amazing job installing 4 new recessed lights in our kitchen. They were prompt, professional and extremely courteous throughout the process. They were able to do so with as few cuts in the existing drywall as possible. They made no mess and carefully vacuumed as they went along. They saved any cuts of drywall and reinstalled them so the could easily be smoothed over and refinished and painted over. They showed up exactly on time and were able to complete the entire job in approx. 2 hour which seemed very quick to us. We were extremely happy with the whole process and would definitely use them again and again. Thank you so much!
