Bailey & Shipp Electric

Cannot commend the electricians from Bailey & Shipp, enough. They performed the work during triple digit Summer temps. It was even hotter in my home because my A/C was broken. I informed them of my circumstances, but they decided to come anyway. I was kept in the loop during installation and before any cuts were made to the walls (three plate light switch had to be installed) and ceiling. They were efficient, knowledgeable, polite, and made sure the place was free of any debris. They also installed a ceiling light purchased separately from The Big Deal. Would recommend and hire again.

I was very disappointed with the responsiveness of this company. I had to contact them multiple times and when they finally came out they said the type of work wasn't included.

The service was fine except that I thought it was pricey when he did other things for me while I was here. I think it was more of a come-on with the promo from Angie’s List. The actual thing he did that was applied for that cost three times more. I would give them A for execution and a C for cost. I would probably not use them again because of the price. I find it not at all compatible with what I was hoping to have to pay. He was here for like four hours and I paid about $950 and that included the Angie’s List discount. He brought his own materials that was needed, but it could not have been more than $25 to $40 tops. I go to Home Depot. So, I just do not see that that was fair price-wise.

I purchased a deal for Bailey & Shipp to replace 3 GFI outlets ($150) assuming the problem was caused by a bad outlet. After the technician looked around for 10 minutes, he discovered the cause was a short in our patio lights. The problem was solved simply by unplugging the light's transformer. He said the deal was no good and he had to charge me $250 for a service call. No outlets were replaced, and no other work was done. When I asked him to look at a GFI outlet in the garage that wasn't working, he said it would be approximately $400 to fix it.

They did great work. Very professional job. Very courteous. There was a minor disagreement about some drywall work being in scope of their estimate, but we were able to get passed the issue. I would hire these guys again in a heartbeat.

These guys were awesome! Clinton & John really seemed to know their stuff! They came in, trouble shot all my problems immediately. They worked very quickly, they were knowledgeable about what they were doing and they took care of all my problems! Very good business personality and they even said they would get back with me for some recommendations.

Bailey and Shipp was excellent. They called to remind me and confirm the appointment. The two technicians were VERY nice, personable, and explained all steps, upgrades, and options to me. Anytime something couldn't go as planned (such as not being able to connect the lights to the existing switch to the outdoor lights) they explained why and offered me a few options. They were fast and clean. There was NO MESS when they were finished. They swept, vacuumed and otherwise cleaned up after themselves. I LOVE the finished product. There was no light in my living room before and the lights and dimmer look wonderful. When I put recessed lighting in my kitchen I was definitely call them first.

The service was very good. Courteous, good quality work. Wasn't prepared for the extra charges, but do understand what happened to incur cost. Clean up was satisfactory as there was a lot of dust from the cutting into the wall and ceiling. Let there be light and there was. The serviceman was very experienced and detailed.

Bailey and Shipp had to reschedule a few times, but I had to reschedule once as well, so the rescheduling was slightly annoying, but not all that bad. However, the provider told me that a service person would be at my house between 8 and 8:30AM. I took this to mean that the service person would leave Annapolis early enough to arrive at my house in Washington, DC by 8 or 8:30AM. What Bailey and Shipp meant was that a service person would leave their office in Annapolis at 8AM, and stop to pick up the materials for the job, thus arriving at 10:15AM. Had the provider told me that their staff member would leave their office at 8AM and drive to DC during rush hour traffic, I could have scheduled my morning accordingly. Instead, I waited at my house for 2 hours before anyone arrived.

Bailey & Shipp's electrician, Jay (I think) did an excellent job. He was held up on the previous job but called well ahead to let me know. He protected my furniture and the surrounding area with plastic drop sheets and cleaned up completely at the end of the job. He did fabulous work and consulted me along the way to make sure the four recessed lights were where I wanted them. He was efficient, polite, personable and skilled.

They were very acceptable, did a nice job, had no problem.

Great job they were professional all through the process. I was considering installing more lights and will use them in the future if I do. I really liked that they didn't pressure me to spend extra money as this was a small job, but they were absolute professional and tidy cleaning up after the job and even got along with my dog!

Everything was exceptional until one switch I bought wasn't the correct one. I then purchased one off the truck for $75. The exact same switch is around $15 at Home Depot. I called the next day and was told this was the normal price but I felt that I was gouged. Other than that everything was great.

He replaced the electric line fine. However, he was not able to get any of the existing lights on the ceiling fans working. I provided new light attachment kits and he could not get them to work either. He left before the end of the time period that I paid for.

Wow! The best service from an Angie?s vendor/supplier I have ever experienced! Ryan from Bailey and Shipp came in on time (early morning), went to work right away, finished without delay, then cleaned up before he left. My usual electrician quoted $150 per recessed light. But, the Bailey and Shipp deal was for $89 for as many as you wanted. Now that's a deal! I engaged Bentz Electricians earlier (Electrician for a Day Deal) and was sorely disappointed in what I got for what I paid, so I was skeptical of electrical services from Angie?s ?Deals?. But Ryan from Bailey and Shipp was amazing. Moreover, the company wanted to do more, I just didn't have anymore that needed to be done.

The installation went very well. Electricians were able to use an existing junction box which had a switch for an outlet in the room. They wired the outlet as hot as requested and fished a new line from the junction box to the new pot lights. The installers made sure to consult with me about positioning of the pot-lights and made sure to confirm how I exactly wanted the lights and existing outlet wired. They did a very good job keeping the job site clean and vacuuming any dust. Extremely happy with the install overall.

The electrician was very late due to traffic but was lightning quick when he finally arrived. Completed initial checklist very quickly but rather than do additional jobs to provide the full 8 hours I was guilted into letting him go early. I spent an hour vacuuming and cleaning up after he had left even though he had only worked 5 of the 8 prepaid hours. Was also informed halfway through the day that they were supposed to have provided all of the materials so they were giving me a deal. Actual truth was they price gouged me for the handful of items they did provide. For example I was charged $15 for a $2 wall switch plate. That is not an exaggeration either. So not only did I pay an extra $230 above what i had planned for the company did not have the decency to have management to return my phone call. They also did not deny the prices were completely inflated to hit a predetermined profit margin. Bottom line is I don't trust this company and will likely contact the better business Bureau.

The electrician arrived on time and did the work well.

Bought an 8 hour of an electrician package via Angie's List. Was told electrician would be at the house at 8:00 AM. At 8:15 he called telling me he would be there in "in an hour" - turns out travel time is something the office doesn't count into the equation. He finally arrived at the house at 9:30. Once he here, the technician did a fair job of working on a tough problem (which we had to scrap) before turning to a list of relatively minor tasks. He did a reasonably good job of installing several new outlets and switches, though some of the placements were a bit awkward (lesson, make sure you tell them EXACTLY where you want something, not in a more general area). At 3:00 (5 1/2 hours into my time), the technician informed me he was leaving at 3:30 as his day has started at 7:30 when he went into the shop. Nowhere in the "deal" did it say that travel time was a part of the 8 hours. I had to call the office and talk to the owner to have him approve the final two hours of service. While I did get that time, there is no question the technician was already one foot out the door. The last few items on the list were somewhat rushed and things that should have been done were not addressed. The final straw was the charges for "materials" used during the day. I had supplied every switch, fixture, etc... We made two additional trips to Lowes while the technical was here to bring additional supplies. No question there were some materials supplied by the electrician, but at the end of the day, as he's trying to get out as quickly as possible, I'm told that these items totaled $100. No itemized detail, just $100. Unbelievable. The office was closed, the guy did't have a credit card machine. It was check or cash. No way I'd use these guys again. Another note to Angie's List - deals must be clear about the travel time element. I understand why this is a real issue for the service providers but Angie's List does a poor job of correlating distance between provider and user. I should have done a better job of research here but this was a bad deal all around.
