I live in Lake Linganore where the infrastructure can be shaky at best. This water line had broken in the past. The cause of the breaks has generally thought to be from the pounding the street receives from garbage trucks making their runs up and down a street that has a poor foundation. This time I hired Putman to do the work. It was a major job, involving the county, the HOA, an excavating contractor and the electrical company as the buried cables were along side the pipe line. Pat Putman coordinated all of the work superbly. He also made sure that the new feed line was of higher quality and covered with a liner so it should not break again. Putman is one of the pre-eminent plumbing companies in Frederick. They are a family business, definitely not inexpensive, but will do the job right. If you ask long-time Frederick residents who are the best plumbers in Frederick, you should expect to hear Putman mentioned. They are the plumbing company of choice for all work in and around my house.

I got home on Monday and went down to the basement to start some laundry and noticed water all over the floor and leaking out of our brand new water heater. (Why do these things ALWAYS happen around dinner time??) My husband shut off the water and started cleaning up while I called Putman and explained to the lady in the office what was going on. She briefly put me on hold and I was expecting to have to wait a few hours for someone to come but she came back on and told me Scott was already on the way. Sure enough, he was very soon after pulling up to the curb and grabbing his tools. It took him no time at all to identify the problem. As a matter of fact, I think it took longer to drain the water heater than it did for him to fix it. Afterward, he showed us what had happened and was on his way. Once again, Putman's service has been outstanding. Usually, anyone jumps at the chance to make a big ticket sale but are nowhere to be found when there is something wrong with it and it needs to be fixed. Then you have to wait until whenever they happen to show up since they won't be making any money off of a warranty call. I think it says a lot about the integrity of both Scott and Putman Plumbing that they treat their customers the way we wish everyone who we do business with would treat us.

It went well. I think their pricing was on the high end but for what I paid, I think it was worth it. They were professional. He explained things to us and told us how to prevent it in the future. They didn't just come in and do the job and say give me my money and left. They were polite.

I had spent an entire day calling around trying to get estimates to replace our 22 year old water heater and had become extremely frustrated. I understand that there are certain situations that are special and may require additional work, but I would think that any good plumber should be able to state the TYPICAL charges involved in a TYPICAL replacement after asking the customer a few questions. Unfortunately, they had all pretty much A) quoted an outrageously high price, B) quoted a lowball "too good to be true" price or C) wouldn't quote me any kind of price without coming out to look and charging me a service fee. I had just about decided that I'd rather deal with cold showers than all of this hassle when Putman Plumbing, specifically Scott, came to my rescue! They were the last name on the list and I had left a message with the answering service as it was the end of the workday on a Friday. I had told them that it wasn't an emergency as our water heater was still working, so I didn't expect a callback until Monday morning. Scott called me back within an hour. He was friendly, he was professional and very forthcoming with information. He was the ONLY person I had spoken with that day that had asked me a few questions to determine my particular situation and then quoted me a reasonable and fair price, with a breakdown of the charges, right over the phone. I was standing in the grocery store at the time and heard a chorus of angels and just about fell over. Okay, that last part was an exaggeration, but it is not an exaggeration to say that the relief I felt at having the situation decided was immense. What sealed the deal was when he told me that the unit they would be replacing it with is the same brand as the one that had lasted so well in the house for 22+ years (Ruud). I was thrilled. The day they came to do the work, the office called in advance of my scheduled appointment to let me know that they were running just a bit behind. Scott and his apprentice Ian arrived within a half hour and got right to work. I showed them the work area which I had cleared around in advance so they would have plenty of room to do what they needed to. The visit itself was what I would consider an ideal service call for a homeowner. They were friendly, neat in appearance, took precautions to protect the floors etc in my home and very efficient. Because I was so confident in my decision to hire them, I splurged a little and had them replace the hose bib in the front yard. Scott told me what my options were (You mean I actually get a choice?!! Hooray!) and brought them in for me to see the difference. At the end of the visit, the bill was exactly what I was quoted, less my Angie's List discount. It was even a little less than it should have been because the price I had been told had not included the standard service call fee and because I had not been advised of it, they did not charge me for it. I will absolutely be calling them for all of my plumbing needs in the future and will recommend them to everybody!

They couldn't be more friendly or helpful!

Punctual, polite and professional. Quickly detected kitchen drain had a major clog and would need to unassembled plumbing under sink. Also found a leak in the pipe from basement to septic. It needed replacing. Told me how long it should take (as long as no other problems showed up) and gave me a rough estimate (based on no other problems popping up). Cleaned out clog, installed new section of pipe, put everything back together and checked to make sure there were no leaks from the reassembly. Great work and he even gave me a coupon for any additional plumbing jobs I may have. Will definitely use again. I gave a B on pricing as I really don't know what other plumbers would have charged. I checked Angie's List for plumbers, saw that Putman was local and went with them based on other reviews and because I like to support local businesses.

Pat is excellent. We had a burst pipe on a Sunday and Pat was willing to come out and assess and repair the damage. The extra fee for the emergency service was willingly paid in order for us to have service restored. In addition, Pat provided two valves which will allow for more convenient shut off (and also allowed for deeper troubleshooting). Finally, Pat provided excellent insight into how to prevent future disasters.

This was my first time using Putman Plumbing. Friendly and professional. Price as expected. A little late, but they called to let me know and this wasn't a big deal for me, so it didn't affect my rating much. They cleared a clogged pipe that was causing the powder room sink to back up. Suggested an enzyme cleaner for drain maintenance; gave me a brochure, but no sales pressure. Overall a good experience. I'll use them again.

I was very pleased with the prompt and knowledgeable service. Scott and Ryan arrived on time, checked out the job, provided an estimate and then went on to complete the job. Thanks for a job well done! We would definitely use Putman Plumbing again.

Arrived hours late. 2 servicemen who didn't like the foucets I had purchased for replacement(no guidance given). Fooled around on phones about the faucets for 1 hour. Back to shop for new toilet and brought the WRONG toilet and the WRONG toilet seat for the wrong toilet. I should have used this vacation day at the beach. Finished well after 6 PM. Never again.

I have had a sink clogged ever since we bought the house. 4 1/2 yrs. We had Roto Rooter out and they could not unclog it. (They tried 3 times and then proceeded to inform us that had to stop. Then they charged us $75. Horrible) So we called Putnam Plumbing. They were professional. Clean. A genuine pleasure to work with. Very nice plumber Dressed professionally Well mannered Before he even touched the pipes, he inspected the house to see where things were. Measured the footage of the floor. They had to replace some of the pipes that were rusted and corroded and then run the auger through. Took about an hour. What a joy to have a bathroom sink that works!! They also gave us some Bio-Clean so we could keep the plumbing running smoothly.

Pat (the owner) was in the neighborhood and stopped in and got my kitchen faucet working again. One of the great features of Putnam Plumbing is their annual evaluation. They check your entire home for any issues including any recommendations for potential problems such as washer connections and degrading pipes. Once they're done, I have the peace of mind that I won't get caught with a 'water' problem some weekend, holiday, or late one night.

Putman Plumbing was quick to diagnose a leak coming from our master bathroom which had traveled across the house a little way before coming through. He was stabbing in the dark about where the leak started and he guessed correctly and was able to diagnose and repair with just one hole made in our drywall. Yay!

This was as good an experience you could ever have with a service provider. Local company with lots of price, great service, professional, friendly and knowledgeable. I was amazed at how great the reviews were for them on Angie's List so I tried them. They were right in my small town. After the experience I now know why they are rated so high. I could go on and on but there was nothing about the experience that was not top shelf. Great local company with great family pride in running a great business.

Found other service provider who completed the work for 50% of quote I received from Putman. Felt Putman s was reputable. Will consider using them in the future is price is more competitive.

The service call turned into quite an ordeal but the man working for Putman Plumbing were professional, knowledgeable and fantastic to work with. I cannot discuss details at this time because I may have to fight the city to pay the expenses. I will say this much, I would use this company again because they were looking out for me their customer!

They were great! They came in on time, asked what we wanted, asked questions to make sure they understood, and then got to work. The quality of the finished job was superb.

PUTMAN PLUMBING IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST!!!! Our first experience with Putman Plumbing was actually back in October of 2012 at a house we were renting. While running the dishwasher we noticed the floor in front of the sink was flooding. Our landlord referred us to another plumber whose estimate for after hours was astronomical. We went on Angie's list and started calling plumbers and leaving messages. Putman plumbing was the first to call back. Scott Putman came out and gave us an estimate which was at least $100.00 less than the first estimate we got. Scott did the work and we couldn't have been more pleased. He was friendly, professional and explained thoroughly everything that he did. He's been out to the house several times since then (the most recent being on 5/28/13) for other plumbing issues and we have always been impressed. The office staff are polite and friendly and called to let us know if Scott was going to be on time or not. We recently moved out of state and can only hope to find a plumbing company like Putman Plumbing. If you want honest, friendly, professional service at a reasonable price Putman Plumbing is the company to call!

The installation went great. The plumbers made the necessary floor adjustments for proper toilet installation. Also, the toilets are leak-free!!!!!!

Job done exactly as they said they would do. Explained what the problems were, the best way to fix the problems and what it would cost to repair the issues.

The technician showed up a few minutes behind schedule but was quick to get to work and did a fantastic job replacing the sewage ejector lid in our basement. This company really takes the time to do things right and make it serviceable for future work should that become necessary.

Putnam Plumbing came on very short notice, the same day as we called, even though it was the day after Thanksgiving. Other plumbers we called were not even working that day. The initial reason for the call was a pinhole leak in a basement pipe. While they were here, they agreed to do two other plumbing tasks. One was to re-route another basement pipe. Previous owners had arranged it so that the water going to the kitchen came straight from the well rather than using the water that goes through the acid treatment and the water softener. We prefer the treated water, and Putnam took care of that. In addition, they replaced a faucet in an upsairs bathroom sink, using a faucet supplied by us. Putnam carries a book with their standard price list, so customers know the pricing is not arbitrary. Since I have not had plumbing done in quite a while, I am not the best judge of price, but $400 seems reasonable for three tasks and certainly for the amount of time they worked in our home. In addition, Putnam honored an Angie's List coupon. Two representatives of Putnam plumbing worked together, and both were very professional and personable.
