They first were very professional on coming when giving me an estimate and could tell by speaking with Bob that he knew his stuff. Next he truly made my wife and me feel comfortable that they could not only do the job but would be excited on the work done. One thing which I recall that stood out the most was that he told us you will not pay for the entire job until your satisfied with the work which needed to be done. We both can assure you that that his work done was beyond our expectations. My wife and I without a doubt would hire again and recommend to anyone needing painting done in their home. As his crew took time with all the preparations and work done with pride including took time to be sure that the work was done right. Each and every step of the process was taken and the work they done was beyond our expectations at a great price! My wife and I personally thank Bob and work crew at Marathon painting for their excellent work they done for our home.

We were extremely pleased with the professional service starting with the initial contact to the completed job. Bob kept us informed on each process and answered any questions or concerns. The painters were thorough, professional and timely. Our house look like we got new siding, and we love the outcome.

I couldn’t be more pleased. The painters worked together as a organized team. I’m 63 and disabled. My hands don’t work very we’ll and I needed someone to paint. I’ve never done as good of a job that they did and I’m one of the worst annal perfectionist you can find. After they were finished I eyeballed the entire job and it was flawless, I really mean FLAWLESS! I’m still sitting in awe of the work they did. The painters asked me if I wanted the Slate slab that’s in front of the fireplace painted along with the mantle. I said no but after thinking about it I remembered Bob explaining the reasons for using different types of textures and finishes for different surfaces. I went back to the painter that suggested painting the slate and asked him would he paint his slate? He said yes and further explained the aesthetics of painting it. I can’t paint any longer but I now have a company I can trust to paint for me.

They did a wonderful job! They were affordable, professional and cleaned after themselves every day until the job was completed.

Marathon painting did an outstanding job on my project! I couldn't be any happier with the quality of work, timeliness, and professionalism of the entire crew. Not only did they ensure that we used high quality paint but they provided an extraordinary level of detail when it came to applying it to the walls and trim -- didn't just paint the walls but ensured that there was a smooth finish throughout and the lines around the trim are near perfect! They patched up a couple spots seamlessly and left this house looking like new again! Highly recommend!

Excellent! The team was prompt, respectful and recognized a problem which involved previous smokers in the home. They were not satisfied until all brown staining was removed. They did great work!!!!!

They're honest and did not ask extra. They were very friendly and had good communication, they also explain the process so I can understand.

He was professional. I didn't feel like the other workers were experts, as they were not very clean. He was a good guy and the work was decent.

Marathon Painting arrived on site and proceeded to power wash the entire house. After washing, they placed brown paper and masking tape on all windows. They proceeded to scrape any loose paint and to caulk the seams in the siding. Once the house was prepped, they spray painted the house, applying two coats of exterior latex paint and not latex stain. They spray painted the aluminum gutters and downspouts. After the first year, the sections of the house exposed to the most intense sunlight started to flake and peel. They were contacted and they came back on site with one man. He scraped the siding and used the left over latex paint we had had and repainted the portions of the house requiring repainting. During the painting process, the worker spilled paint on the roof and sidewalk that had to be pressure washed. Because latex paint was used on latex stain, the house is now peeling and will need to be re- scraped and re-painted. I would not use this company again nor would I refer them to anyone else

We hired Marathon back in August 2011 to paint a condo we had purchased. Price was very reasonable and the actual work was good. However, they called us several times to reschedule which was inconvenient but we had time so we were able to accomodate. Based on this work, I called Bob and asked him for an estimate to paint our sun room. Estimate was again very reasonable and we arranged for his crew to come out on 7/3/12 to do the work. Bob left a message on the morning of 7/3/12 with an excuse and asked if they could resked for 7/5/12. We agreed. Bob left a message again on the morning of 7/5/12 with another excuse and asked to resked. This was a familar pattern so I called back and cancelled the work.

In the process of getting an estimate the owner was professional, friendly and prompt. I paid a $1.5K deposit, with the remainder of the agreed $4.5K to be paid on completion of the work. The crew that actually performed the work (not the business owner with whom we dealt for the estimate) was sloppy and difficult to work with. When the crew first declared they were finished and requested payment, the front door had not yet been painted, the paint job was very uneven on one side of the house, they had missed some areas altogether (e.g. behind exterior lighting where it was difficult to reach they didn't bother to paint at all), they had spilled a good deal of paint on the brick facade that wasn't to have been painted and the ground that they were reluctant to clean up, they had spilled paint on our patio furniture that had used as work surface in order to paint our shutters, and they had not cleaned up the tape on the house. When I pointed out these problems, they re-painted the side of the house that had poor coverage, the areas they missed and painted the front door per my agreement with the business owner. They argued bitterly about having to clean up the paint they had spilled (their was some paint that had been spilled in previous paint jobs, so they felt this gave them a free pass and absolved them from having to be careful or clean up anywhere), arguing that they had already invested more labor in the job than they were being paid for. This became a comical, if highly aggravating situation, in which the foreman was insisting on our front steps that No Paint Had Been Spilled as he stood on an 18" diameter stain where fresh paint had been spilled right in front of the front door. When I pointed out to him that he was, in fact, standing in spilled paint as he went on about how experienced he was and how he had already worked too much on this house, he said it wasn't his fault because someone else on his crew had spilled it. This dragged on for days. At one of point, one of his own crew walked around the house with us showing us all the paint that they had spilled on the house and speculating about why the foreman refused to clean it up. On another occasion, after I spoke to the business owner, the foreman agreed to clean up spilled paint, but then milled around his truck and the front yard for about 2 hours, working perhaps 1/2 hour of this time on the more obvious spills, and then came to the front door saying he was finished. I ultimately was so fed up and tired of clownish and boorish behavior of the foreman that I paid the owner in order to get rid of them. The owner was fine to work with and claimed that his foreman usually did a good job. The price was good and teh owner seemed honest and experienced. I would assume based on other positive reviews that perhaps he must have other crews. But if you go with this firm, I would recommend insisting on meeting the foreman first and being prepared to supervise the crew very closely yourself.

Bob and his crew were great, extremely punctional, polite, and courteous. They went far beyond the agreed upon terms of the contract and painted additional items in the back yard such as the pergola which desperately needed a new coat of paint.

company used some inappropriate materials (e.g., interior nails on an exterior job). they wanted us to be satisfied and said they would come back out if we were not. exterior needs to be re-done in many places after only two years (our previous job went six years). they said they would take care of it. set two appointments that weren't kept. in the meantime, had others perform estimates. uniformly told of inadequacies in the work. decided to hire another company and we are re-doing about half of the work. we like Bob very much and are sorry our experience didn't match up to that of others.

Bob was anxious for the business and gave me a good price. He told me some details about how he'd have the work carried out and that was helpful. The job got put off one week with the explanation that another job was running overtime, and a 2nd week because of rain. Finally the crew came and completed the whole job in 2 days, a friday and saturday. The crew was neat and friendly, and helped me with a couple extras (changing the numbers over my front door and inspecting a gutter with damage near the roof). I felt that because it was a small job and they gave me such a good price they could not afford to spend more than 2 days on it, and so some parts were more rushed than others, and the quality was a little uneven. But I couldn't afford to pay much more, so I understand the tradeoff. In general everything looks a whole lot better than it did before and I'm glad to have the work done. I think if they'd had a little more time and money they could have done a higher quality job. For instance, prior poor paint jobs had left a lot of uneven surfaces on the trim all around the house. In some places they took a lot of time smoothing it out, and in other places they just painted over the rough surface.

Estimator arrived exactly on time for the appointment. We inspected the windows together. He pointed out what would be done and where, came inside, and gave me a written estimate. I wrote him a check right there for a third of the job. His guys came on the appointed day and did the work with no problems in one day.
