Response from CDS Home Services
We at CDS value all customer feedback, as it always helps us to improve. With regards to the above, CDS installed The customer generator on Sep. 3, 2011. We completed a normally scheduled maintenance service on Feb. 7, 2012, performed all routine services and found that the generator was operating properly. On Jun. 29-30, 2012, violent storms struck most of Maryland causing wide spread power outages. The customer placed an after hours call to CDS at 5PM Saturday, Jun. 30, 2012 stating that her generator was not working. CDS returned her call and put her on our priority list for emergency service calls. CDS had mobilized our entire workforce for the weekend of Jun. 30-Jul. 1 due to the wide spread outages and worked nearly around the clock helping customers with generator issues. We placed her on our work list and we were able to arrive at her home on Monday morning, Jul. 2, 2012. Upon arrival, the customer generator was operational. She had another company come out who made a temporary repair to the generator’s stepper motor, which got the generator running. If the repair company she called was an authorized manufacturer’s dealer, then the temporary repair should have been made under warranty at no charge to her. That issue can be addressed with the manufacturer and the company which made the temporary repair. We would be happy to facilitate this between her and the manufacturer. On Jul. 2, 2012, during our visit, CDS determined that she needed a new stepper motor. We replaced the repair part and made the repair to her generator under warranty and at no charge. We regret that we could not make it out to her home immediately when she called, but we did respond the soonest we could and we did make her permanent repair at no charge under warranty.
