I was very happy with the service, start to finish.Clinton reassured me that the system location was fine--I avoided the cost of relocating the unit! They did a check-up on the system and I have secured a warranty and maintenance agreement from them. They were quite responsive, prompt, professional and very customer-friendly.
Description of Work: I hired Clinton Electric to inspect and set up a warranty on my whole-house Generac generator. I was concerned about the original installation of the system because I had been told by another electrician it was improperly installed and too close to my home.

Great from beginning to end! I called to ask about getting an estimate for replacing a front porch light and possibly replacing a ceiling fan. The receptionist (Lorraine?) was very friendly and responsive and even let me know about a discount I qualified for. She explained that fees are based on the job, not the hour, and at the time of the estimate, if convenient for me, the work could be completed then. However, if I wanted to schedule the service for another date, I would not be charged another dispatch fee. (Yes, there is a dispatch fee.) I called Monday and an appointment was set up for Wednesday afternoon. I received a call late Wednesday morning stating that the technician, Kris, was ahead of schedule and could come early if convenient for me. I said okay and about 1/2 later Kris arrived. I can not say enough about Kris - his professionalism, his expertise and his workmanship. He was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable! I knew I needed the front light replaced, (it had fallen apart, literally), and so I gave the okay for that job. Then, I asked his opinion about the ceiling fan. (Only one of the four lights worked. The others burned out fast, so I hadn't used the light part of fan for a very long time.) After discussing the situation with Kris, I decided to have it replaced. (I had already purchased one, actually two fans, and even asked Kris to weigh in on which one would look better.) While he was there, I decided to take advantage of his expertise and ask about the back porch light. It was not original to the house. I had it replaced once by a "professional ?" but never really liked the way it hung, or should I say sagged, and once again was concerned about safety. Kris explained that before installing the light, there should have been a fixture block put on the siding. I decided to have Kris fix it and then, since I had bought two outdoor lights, (yes, bought one, then saw another that matched my front door better), I decided to have Kris replace the light. So, I ended up having three jobs completed and am so happy I did! Kris went out to buy the fixture block (inexpensive item), then went about doing the work. The ceiling fan looks great, but more importantly, it is safely installed. (Whoever hung the other one cut a wire.) In addition, the third bedroom light switch that no one seemed to know what was for, Kris identified correctly as connected to another wire for the ceiling fan. Now I have one switch for the light and the other for the fan! My two outdoor lights are installed properly, work correctly and now look great. (Since I am thinking about putting my home up for sale in the next year or two this adds a nice touch.) Kris took care of clean up and all is well on the home front. :) Oh yes, I had one more question for Kris. I showed him a special light bulb that had burned out. I needed a new one for my reading lamp and my attempts to replace it were unsuccessful. ( I went to three home/hardware stores!) Kris gave me the name of an electrical supply company to try. Yes, you do get what you pay for. ( I am thinking about my sagging back light from years past.)
Description of Work: Front porch light replaced. Ceiling fan replaced. Back porch light replaced.

We have had a positive experience with them. I didn't really have any complaint with them. I think they were prompt, that's probably the number one thing when you are trying to get something like this done. Basically we had concerns that we wanted to get done and I think they completed about 90% of the things that we wanted to get done. They were quick, they were in and out. They were clean. That's what we were looking for.
Description of Work: They have done at least one job here maybe 2 or 3 years ago. They did a bunch of stuff but the main thing they did was added a second electrical box.

Everything went great. Everyone we encountered was very professional, knowledgeable, timely and polite. It was a smooth process from beginning to end (the initial contact, scheduling appointments, getting a call to inform us of the electrician' s expected arrival, getting an estimate, performing the work, and the clean up process). Our service electrician was Lance Graham from Clinton Electric Co., Inc. His work is exceptional and we will definitely request him again for future work in our home.
Description of Work: Installation of 1 dining room chandelier and electrical box, 2 bathroom light fixtures and electrical boxes, and 4 hall light fixtures, one dimmer control for dining room light, replaced one keyless fixture in basement, replaced 3 out of date smoke detectors, installed surge protection on main electric panel, replaced main 200A service entrance cable going from meter to panel, replaced a stand receptacle with a GFCI receptacle, replaced a circuit breaker, installed 2 new bubble covers on exterior panels, and a number of other things.

Technician arrived promptly on Wednesday, reviewed the situation with me, and did a check to confirm what the problem is. We went over their pricing options before any work was done. He told me what the issue was and it would cost to fix it. Everything was taken care of in less than an hour. Very professional experience, highly recommend.
Description of Work: The fan in my attic died after 15+ years of use. I called them on a Monday after seeing them listed on Angies List and they promptly scheduled an appointment to my house. Shelly, the young lady I spoke with, made sure she had clear/concise information on what the issue was in order to ensure the technician had all the right parts in advance.

The experience went well right until I was quoted a price for ceiling fan installation. Customer service reps and the electrician were polite and professional. Electrician showed up during service window, and customer service called me a half hour before his arrival. However, I was incredibly surprised when the electrician told me the installation of the ceiling fan*** would cost just short of $700. He said he may be able to do it for ~$670, but that'd be the lowest he could go. I passed. ***Ceiling fan in a room where there was no existing ceiling fan, light fixture, wiring. Light switch existed in room, connected to a wall outlet. The reason I was so surprised was because (2 years prior) I had hired this company to do the exact same job in an adjacent room. During that job, there was additional electrical work done in another room at the same time. The charge at the time was considerably less. Further, I provided all details about the service over the phone on more than one occasion. The electrician quoted the price of installation off a price sheet. Instead of me being given an estimate over the phone, I took a half day off from work just to pass on a much higher price than what I had paid for the same work on another occasion. In the future, I will look for another company for any electrical services.

The generator didn't function for a while. It turned out to be an internal connection issue. They were difficult to deal with regarding this problem. They just walked away after the install and the subsequent visits. This went on for a month. They'd come back out, get it working, and it would fail. They also sold us a cold weather kit that I didn't anticipate buying, and they said that this kit was causing the issue. Finally, a tech took the entire morning to resolve our issue. He found that there was a wire not plugged in. After he plugged it in, everything was fine.

After purchasing the house in February we came to the conclusion that some of the electrical service outlets were not hooked up properly. We also needed new outlets in our pool area to properly place electrical devices and not have tripping hazards. What I like about Clinton Electric is that all pricing is already established so you are not paying for work by the hour. The service technician was very professional and completed the work correctly and did not leave any mess behind.

The entire job went very well. With a big storm approaching, I called the owner and he set me up immediately with an appointment. Between the office and the estimator, everything happened very quickly and efficiently. They were even able to schedule a two man crew for the install just days after I gave the go ahead. The crew had some delays with a previous customer, but even on a Friday night, they showed up and did the installation. Both men went right to work identifying the circuits to be added to the new panel. After the install, they showed me how the new system works. Before leaving, everything was cleaned up and looking great. There was one small glitch with a bad part that I discovered the next day, but they came right back and swapped out parts so that all systems are go. Now I'm just waiting for a storm so I can use it!

Two of the bedrooms in my home had no overhead light fixtures, so he had to install the ceiling fans from scratch. He was very neat and respectful of my home, laying tarps down to catch any dust or debris from cutting the drywall and even wearing booties while working. He cut as few holes in the ceiling as possible (fewer than expected) which was a nice surprise. He worked very efficiently and took all the trash with him. The cost of the job was a little pricier then some places, but was so well done I would use them again.

II called on Tuesday, Oct 20 for an estimate on installation of hard wired smoke detectors for our rental property in Lutherville. The person who answered my call was helpful and friendly and said they had an opening the next morning. Since we live out of state, I asked if it was okay that we would not be in the house but there was a lock box. She said that would not be a problem and I gave her the lock box number. She informed me Lance would be the electrician giving the estimate and he would be at the house around 8am (7am my time.) She said he would go inside and give me a call with the estimate. Lance was punctual and called me at 7:15 my time, 8:15 his time, to tell me he was at the house. He called me about 15 min later to say it would be approx. $940 to install 2 combination alarms. I was surprised at the cost but didn't have a reference point to know if this was unusually high or not. He said he could complete the work that morning. Since this was one of our final steps to get the house licensed for rental, I decided to go ahead with Clinton Electric, and have Lance complete the work. He called back about 2 hours later to say he would be done in a few hours and to ask if I would like him to replace a pull-chain light fixture in the unfinished basement while he was there for an additional cost and I agreed. An hour or so later, while I was out doing errands, Lance left me a message saying the work was completed and he would leave the invoice in the kitchen and that I could call the office to give them a credit card. Because I had a rather busy afternoon and evening (plus three small children running around at home), I did not check my messages again until the next day, Thursday, October 22nd, at noon. When I checked my messages, less than 24 hours after the message from Lance that the work had been completed, there were three messages from Shelly demanding I call with a credit card. Each message got a little more threatening. The last message left on Thursday morning said if I didn't call right away they would send the electrician back out to the house to pull out all the work that had been done. I called the office less than 24 hours after the work was completed and gave them a credit card number. I expressed my frustration at the manner I which they pursued payment. Shelly said she was sorry but that payment was due at the time of completion and therefore it was okay to leave three messages, each escalating, for me by phone for 24 hours. I suggested that next time, maybe they should ask for a credit card upfront before the work is done, especially if they are aware the home owner will not be there and lives out of state. Shelly agreed this might be a good idea for other clients in the future. I guess in the end, Shelly was able to accomplish her goal. She got me to call with a method of payment and she was able to close out the bill in about 24 hours. Personally, for me, this kind of behavior from a company is not acceptable. I do understand they deserve to be paid in a timely manner. But if they are not willing to wait even 24 hours for a credit card numbers, they should have stated that before the work began. The company had several opportunities to get payment info before the work was done. For this unprofessionalism alone, I do not believe I would use them in the future.
