John Krause Construction

I could not be happier with my new screened, low-maintenance porch. I chose this company because they had made my neighbors "ordinary" double wide house look "special" with the addition of a porch with simple and charming architectural details they created. I asked them to do the same for me. John and his team were willing to think out of the box for me because i have a maintenance roof (flat) and in order to put a screened porch on, they had to lower the level of the porch to fit within the allotted height. Other contractors were not even willing to consider and came up with some of the most elaborate, high priced plans that would have cost me thousands more and ruined the lines of my house or my family room in order to build a porch. I am stunned as to how quickly they got me approved by the county (three weeks) even though I am within view of the water and affected by run-off regulations. I came home DAY ONE to find my old deck completely demolished and holes for the pillars dug! Within TWO WEEKS my porch was complete and wonderful. Paul and his team did a superb, high quality job from start to finish. It is a great porch with a wonderful fan, metal screening, 6 inch pillars that lend to the design. It's awesome. They also did a super job working with my existing hardscape by removing un-needed pavers, yet keeping the hardscape in tact to work with the porch. They also did a great job in cleaning up so my landscape looked better than when they came. They are really the best.

We found John Krause Construction through an Angie's List Big Deal, and"bit" because their reviews were good. We'd purchased the Big Deal in December and our first appointment was in January. From the very beginning, we have found the contact and personal attention to be excellent. Troy Wallis, the landscaping expert, came to our house to talk over what we wanted to accomplish. He provided photos of other projects, had a good look at our site in terms of the plants that would work best in a part-sun, part-shade area, and offered us good advice and lots of choices. We made choices that took us beyond the Big Deal price, but were not in any way pressured to do so. He also sent us links to photos and information about the plants he thought would work. When spring arrived (at last!), he contacted us to let us know when the work would begin. In about 5 days (we received an email heads-up on the day that the weather wasn't going to cooperate ), Troy and two helpers came daily to accomplish the work. --Our old, cracked walkway was removed and replaced with herringbone brick pavers that were meticulously laid and fitted. --The garden area between the walk and the house was replanted with attractive shrubs and perennials. --The garden area between the walk and the lawn was defined and replanted. --Shrubs adjacent to the walk were pruned to create another garden area that was also planted. --We were given clear information about how large the plants would grow and how to take care of them. --We were impressed that Troy was on the job the entire time instead of checking in and then vanishing until the end of the day. --The workmen were polite, helpful, and hardworking. --The job site was cleaned up every day before the crew left: no discarded containers or lunchbags or debris was ever seen. --In addition to doing the work agreed upon, Troy even did some additional pruning. --Troy is justifiably proud of creating projects that look great, and takes the time and care to look at the whole picture. We give this company our highest recommendation: they are knowledgeable, careful, and take pride in their work.

In October of 2014, Troy, from John Krause Construction, came out to give an estimate for a redesign of my front yard. Several landscapers had come out before him and given me their estimates. Troy was the only one who was able to see my vision for the yard and then design a plan to implement what I wanted--for a reasonable price. In addition to giving me a lovely front yard, his crew also cleaned up the side flower beds and the area around my trees in the back yard. He was also able to use and reposition several plants that I already had, thus saving me money. I was very pleased. Then, over the winter, deer ate four of my plants. Troy came out to assess the damage and will be replacing those plants, as well as doing spring yard clean up for me. He is very easy to work with and is willing to spend time offering advice on any aspect of the yard that concerns me. I highly recommend the company and Troy.

When I called John Krause he was able to come over later that day to give us an estimate. We had purchased new kitchen countertops from Lowe's and when the contractor came out to check the measurements he told us that the cabinets weren't level enough to support the solid surface countertop we ordered. Another contractor came out and gave us an outrageous bid for leveling the cabinets so we decided to call John Krause. After John quoted us a price he told us he could have his guys come out the next day, which they did! Two of his men came and removed the old countertop, disconnected the plumbing, and leveled the cabinets. It took about 4 hours in all because the cabinets were really out of whack. John's guys leveled everything perfectly and showed me with a level so I could see for myself. The guys did a fantastic job, were polite and well mannered and cleaned up after themselves. About a week later one of John's guys (Josh) came back and reconnected the plumbing and installed a new faucet we had purchased. It was hard work because the space was so tight and I am sure it must have been challenging but Josh did a great job and we are super happy with the new sink and faucet! The additional charge for this work was $300 and we felt it was very fair since our plumber would have charged almost double. We will be using John again in the near future.

I could not be more pleased with my bathroom project. John Krause met with me shortly after I purchased the Big Deal. By mutual agreement, the renovation was started January 14. The entire project was finished in 6 days. Jim and Matt did the work and were very professional, punctual, and did everything to accommodate my preferences. Given the amount of work and the additional repairs to the floor, plumbing and electrical, I believe that the price was very fair. My new bathroom is beautiful and I thank John Krause Construction.

Arrived on time and did an outstanding job. The workers were polite and provided photos and explained repair procedure in a professional friendly manner. No pressure to go beyond recommended repairs.

Let me previous by saying we had been 14 years trying to get the large dorm window in the center of the house trimmed and dry walled. We have had many carpenters look at the project. They eventually left saying, "They would send us an estimate," and were never heard from again. Secondly, my husband, love him dearly, but he is a hard nosed perfectionist!!!! Having said that, John and his crew tackled a very difficult and challenging project with gusto. The end project is beautiful and my husband was dully impressed. John noticed that the garage doors had never been properly sealed by the original builder. Since we were replacing door casings with PVC anyways, John recommended doing the garage doors (two- two car doors, the side entrance door, and a third garage door on the second floor of the garage. 4 doors total.) We very much appreciate his professional observations and recommendations. The employees of John's, ( it was the first day with the company for one of them) were hard working, dedicated, and extremely talented and knowledgeable. John was honest it telling us that because of all the little projects we hired him for, the cost would run higher. The quality and peace of mind that after 14 years these projects were finally getting completed was worth it. In summary, we were very please with John's honesty and professionalism. The office called us and kept us informed if they were going to be late or when coming. ( on one occasion, due to an emergency that prevented them from arriving on time one day, the staff called and apologized profusely.) John's employees demonstrated commitment, professionalism, and competency. We, especially my husband, were extremely please and impressed. Thanks, Sue

Was responsive in terms of time and information. Gave sound advice on what should be done, performed the work timely and kept me current on the state of the work. Additional work was required and they were direct about the pricing and what would be done. They performed the work well and quickly. It's a relief to have the yard in shape and ready for the spring.

I met John and asked for a quote for my roof. He quoted a price per square and what he did for that price. he made an appointment to come and look at the job. Showed up on the appointed day and time. Confirmed the price and provided a proposal in writing which I agreed to and gave him a deposit. The shingles were delivered and a date was set for the work. They came on that day stripped the roof inspected the plywood found one bad sheet called to tell me about it and took a picture to confirm. They were done the same day. When I came home it was like they were never there except I had a new roof. I am very satisfied

I bought a home built in 1943 in the historic part of Annapolis. I knew when I bought the home it would need a lot of work. I heard of John Krause through a friend and decided to give him a call for an estimate. He came to meet with me at which time he thoroughly evaluated my home and provided me with an estimate that was right in my budget. Through his training he assessed my home to have lead paint, told me that the city required lead abatement and explained the procedure. John kept in constant contact with me from beginning to end giving me updates and progress of the renovation and abatement project. I never fully realized the complicated process that comes along with lead abatement and fortunately his workers held an upstanding workmanlike manor throughout the whole renovation by keeping a safe and clean environment. I am very happy with John Krause Construction for the work performed at my new home and would recommend him to anyone that would like to get a total home renovation or need lead paint abatement for their home. The workers were professional and courteous. They came out got the job done in a timely manor and cleaned up nicely once they were done. We plan to use them again after the holidays for more work needed around the house

When they first came to meet with me for an estimate I had an idea on what I wanted my kitchen and floors to look like. They made my dreams a reality. They helped me choose and order my new appliances and installed a beautiful hard wood floor through out my home. Not only the inside but they did my siding and gutters. Excellent. I had a large single family home that I needed to put on the market, and it needed some serious sprucing up before I could list it for sale. The owner himself came out to walk through the property and provide quotes on the work I had in mind. One of the great advantages was that he worked up the quote in near real time, so before he left, I knew my options and could decide on the work to have done. The quality of the work was great, as was his ability to adjust on the fly for some additional taskings (on an additional contract) to take care of other things I noticed that I needed to have done. In addition to the bulk of the work to get the house on the market, He was able to help me address some of the buyer contingencies that came up during the home inspection. Overall, I couldn't have asked for more - friendly, straightforward service, timely, and quality workmanship.

The service was excellently performed. My front yard looks renewed.

In addition to appropriately siting the garage on the property, a key challenge was building the framework, and putting on the siding and finishing details in such a manner to match or mimic the distinctive architectural features of the existing house. John Krause worked directly with us on the site plan and got all of the required approvals from the county. His crew did an excellent job of building the garage. In particular, the carpenters doing all the finishing work displayed great attention to detail and really did an outstanding job and did indeed match or very closely mimicked the existing house. The job was completed ahead of schedule. John Krause was personally committed to insuring that we were completely happy with the result - - and we are. Overall, an excellent job.

Then the landscape service was performed and I was very unhappy with it. I spoke to the owner and he assured me it would be taken care of the next day, It was not. They came 9 days later and still did not do what was asked of them. So, for the paint job, they wanted me to leave them my house keys so they could come and go to paint. No way, I just want a refund and to be done with this John Krause.

We took the complete makeover deal. Work was done in a courteous, professional, and timely manner. The project made a huge difference in our back yard. While working at home I often open the curtains just to admire the view. I will gladly call John Krause Construction for our next project.

The job itself took about 2 weeks to complete everything, and they book about a month in advance. They did really great work, the only down side is that there is no set schedule/no completion date, but if you're willing to be patient and wait the end result is worth it! Everyone who sees the house loves it and I get tons of compliments. Can't wait to see once all the landscaping matures and fills in, it's going to look gorgeous. I have the best house on the block (if not the whole neighborhood)!

It was great. It was done in one day. They were very professional. They did everything in a timely manner. If I have a chance to refer them to someone, I will definitely would. There were additional charges apart from the $499 deal. That was the first time I have used them.

I have had a lot of work done to my home recently, and I must say working with Troy and John Krause Constuction has been the best experience with a contractor. They showed up on time, their pricing was outstanding, and their worth ethic was amazing. Troy was upfront, offered advice for free and was completely honest. I will be calling them in the spring to do additional landscaping and to finish my basement. It is rare to find such an amazing contractor.

The square footage for what I wanted painted was more than 2500 sq ft. that the job allows.

I called for an estimate before I purchased the Big Deal. The deal said the service was 50% off. I wanted to see how much the total cost would be. They came over. He asked if I purchased the Big Deal and I said no. I ended up purchasing the Big Deal on the last day it was available. They told me the estimate was $1800. I told them I had purchased the Deal and they said they would take the $899 off the price of the estimate. My price should have only been an extra $100 with the Deal, instead of almost $1000 more. They seem competent and knew what to do. They were friendly; it was just a hiccup with the Big Deal. UPDATE: I spoke with Mr. Krause and he explained the situation. As I said previously they were friendly and professional, but unfortunately there was miscommunication.

I purchased the landscaping special. Troy from John Krause came out to look at the front of the house. He asked me what I wanted to do. He took pictures then sent me a proposed drawing. I chose some alternate plants (which were no problem). Troy and his co-worker came out to our house. They transplanted some older plants, planted new plants, added top soil, and mulched. Our yard looks great. I highly recommend John Krause. Troy was extremely professional and had some very good ideas. I would definite use them again.

Everything was great. John Krause showed up to do my estimates the day after I called. He was right on time, took off his shoes when he came in the house and was very polite. His estimate was better than the other contractor that came out to look at the job. He is the only contractor that I recommend. I recommended John Krause construction to my neighbor for finishing a basement. They were also very happy with his work. John Krause Construction is the ONLY contractor that I will use. Skip the "Craigslist contractors" and use John Krause!!!
