From our out-of-town location, we were able to establish contact with John at FAC, who was polite and very responsive, once he checked into what had happened. AHS denied our claim because the air conditioning unit that needed to be replaced was a commercial grade unit, and their insurance contract specifically excludes such items. John at FAC said he would track down a replacement for the compressor, and schedule a time for replacement as soon as possible. He followed through wonderfully, and within a day of our returning from our vacation, a new unit was installed at a fair price, the old unit was removed and disposed of, and FAC did not charge us for the initial AHS visit fee. In short, FAC was efficient and cooperative and very pleasant to deal with, and the final cost was very reasonable. We will continue to work with FAC in the future both to set up a regular inspection and maintenance contract, and whenever we have air conditioning or heating problems. Nice people.
Description of Work: We have a home utility repair/replacement insurance contract with American Home Shield (AHS). When an appliance breaks down, AHS send out a local company with whom AHS contracts for evaluations and service. There is an up-front fee of $55 for the initial evaluation visit. Unfortunately, there was a snafoo on the afternoon the technician was scheduled to come to our home. He was sent to a different location. FAC said they would send around someone the next morning, and report back to us on what they concluded. The initial visit fee was deferred so that their technician could come out whether or not we were home (in fact, we were out of town when the technician came.) AHS denied our claim because the AC unit that needed to be replaced was a commercial grade unit, and their insurance contract specifically excludes such items. John at FAC said he would try to track down a replacement for the outside compressor, and schedule a time for replacement as soon as possible.
