My experience was extremely positive from start to finish. Budget Waterproofing responded promptly to my initial inquiry. Someone came almost immediately to provide a quote. After I signed the contract they waited patiently while I took several weeks to clear the basement to allow them to work. Once they started the work, the crew was prompt, extremely courteous and tidy. There was a discrepancy between the quoted/contracted price and the actual cost of the job, which was more than the contracted price. Without hesitation, Budget Waterproofing absorbed the mistake, to my benefit. No haggling, no guilt trip. The work on the nearly 100 year-old basement walls was challenging and time consuming. They did a fabulous job. Skillful, thorough and no shortcuts. I would highly recommend this company. Not only do you support a family business, but you get the kind of customer service and quality work that seems elusive these days. A contracting experience I was dreading going in to the process turned out to be one of the highlights of my year.
Description of Work: Installed a sump pump. Scraped loose concrete on basement walls, installed wire mesh and applied rough cast concrete over wire mesh.

The gentleman who came out for the estimate was very knowledgeable. He took a look around and came up with a plan. He didn't try to sell me on anything extra. After agreeing on the work that was going to be done, we set up a date. Crew arrived right when they said they would. They were able to put in the drains with a minimum of damage to any of my existing walls. I was actually surprised how well they were able to work around the existing structure. The crew took the time to cover up the stairway and some of the stuff I had stored in the basement, so the dust didn't get all over everything. Crew worked fast and efficiently and got all of the work done in 2 days, which was very impressive given the scope of the job. Crew did a great job cleaning up, both inside and out. If it hadn't been for the few areas where things had to be removed to get the job done, you could hardly tell that such a major project had been completed. It has been nearly 2 months since the job was completed and everything has worked great. Had a very long, hard rain last month after the job was completed and everything worked like a charm, both inside and outside. Would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a quality waterproofing job.
Description of Work: Dug a trench and put a drain around the entire basement. Installed a new drain outside my basement door and in a below grade area at my back garage entrance. Got rid of the 3 existing sump pumps and combined them to one new modern pump. Installed a jet pump on my new sump pump.

The price was good, and they included the 10% off for Angie's members and another slight discount for my military service. The workers came on time and were very professional. They did leave one side of my tile floor damaged and without a clean cut, but the tile guy I used later was able to correct that pretty well. A few days after completion, the drain was tested by heavy rain. The drain worked great, but the wall crack continued to leak water, although not nearly the amount as before. I had gotten frustrated because I had been told the new drain would fix all the problems. After several conversations with Budget Waterproofing about fixing the crack, they sent their lead repairman out to look it over. He said the wall was concrete instead of cinder block, meaning all he could do was charge roughly $1500 to have them completely repair the concrete wall. He explained that I actually had two different problems going on and that the salesman had probably hoped the drain would take care of all the water. He then suggested I could patch the problem myself fairly easily, and he took the time to explain it to me. This saved me money, so I greatly appreciated his advice. I have not had any issues with water since fixing the crack, even after a few heavy rains. Overall, I'm pleased with their service. I'd recommend them to others.
Description of Work: I had water entering the basement from several points, including a large crack in the wall. The salesman came to take a look and was very professional. He explained that I needed a drain system built around most of the basement perimeter leading to the existing sump pit. The job also included installing a deeper sump pit, new sump pump, and a new drain outside the basement door that drops water into the sump pit. The wall crack wasn't touched.

I looked on Angie's List for a company to water proof my basement. I chose Budget Waterproofing because of the great reviews. From the time that I made the first phone call until the end of the job, Budget Waterproofing was always there and kept in touch. The crew that came arrived right on time and did an excellent job. Very professional, kept the job site neat and clean and left everything exactly the way it was before. I am very happy with the end result. Thanks Budget Waterproofing!!!

I feel like the response I received was very honest and they spent a good amount of time explaining some different options, ultimately coming up with something that was outside of their scope of work. So they literally told me the right thing to do, even if it meant not giving them business. That's an A+ in my book, and means that not only would I recommend them to others, but I would use them myself if I did have something that was in their scope.

Mike showed up a little earlier then scheduled. He immediately recognized that the flooding issue at my house is not something his company can reconcile. Eric was very to the point, which I appreciate. He did not try to sell me on the products he would be using. He sold me on the matter of the issue and what needed to be done. Very patient in answering my questions as to what's the difference between different waterproofing methods. We are initially leaning to working with Budget. I have heard great things from two previous customers of theirs so that is reassuring.

Jose and Tony arrived on time, reviewed the plan for the drain trenches, and went to work. We had put plastic sheeting up, over our belongings along the wall that was not being trenched . Jose told us that they would have done that for us. They jackhammered and dug and carried out bucket after bucket of dirt and concrete. At the end of the day, the entire trench was dug and the area was cleaned up nicely. The returned the second day with pipe, gravel, and the new sump pump. It was a parade of gravel filled buckets through the backyard and downstairs. When the crew broke to have lunch and get concrete mix, I took the opportunity to "check it out". I was impressed that they only had about 20 feet of trench to complete. They cemented over the gravel and invited us down for an inspection. I couldn't wait for it to rain! Since this is a rowhouse, the crew worked out of our alley. They put a tarp down on the street to catch gravel that missed the buckets as they were loaded. They swept the alley and you wouldn't have known they had been there. We had three estimates for this job. Bill Bollinger, the owner and contractor, was knowledgable and fair in his assessment of what we needed to do. My wife and I are very pleased with the job and we will recommend him to other "leaky" Charles Villagers.
Description of Work: We had 92 feet of french drain installed along three walls in the basement. The basement of this105 year old rowhouse had leaked for many years. Today, the system is in and working great. We are having torrential rains in Baltimore. The water is being pumped out and is watering my wife's gardens.

As a result of heavy rains in the last week of April I found water in my basement. After doing some research on Angie's list, I contacted Budget Waterproofing. They were highly rated not only by Angie's list but also by the Better Business Bureau. Bill came out within 24 hours of my call to provide me an estimate. He explained what they did and what they didn't do. Since I had a finished basement I was informed that they would remove the drywall but I would be responsible for having drywall reinstalled. I was glad that this information was given to me upfront. The repair was scheduled for a week later, could have happened sooner but my schedule didn't allow for that. On the appointed day Robby and Mark showed up, on time, to perform the work. One of my concerns was the smoothness of the repair to the concrete floor, because I would have to re-lay laminate flooring over the repair, that needed to be opened up. Robby assured me it would be smooth. They went about their work and cut out the drywall in such a way that I will be able to reuse most of it. The floor was left as smooth as when they started. Robby provided me with instructions on how soon I can reinstall the insulation, drywall and the flooring. I am very pleased with the work.

I called them because water came in our basement. Mike the salesperson evaluated what happened. In our particular case our sump pump did not work and we have since replaced it. Water ran toward our foundation and we are going to address that with gutter extensions and grading. Mike was in agreement that this would help but there could be a crack in the foundation where water was coming in. It was not visible upon inspection. We will wait until the next rain to see if our new sump pump and gutter extensions help. He gave me some good advice about the landscaper and what type of pipe to have him use. If we try these measures with our new sump pump and are still having a problem I will call them. What I liked was that he said he could contain the work to a small area of one room. Another company gave me a very expensive price and wanted to do my whole basement. Budget was focused on what the problem really was.

Eric, the salesmen, was professional and courteous. He worked within our time frame and price range. The crew arrived timely and we expected them to be here three days to complete the job. They were done in two days! Work was done satisfactorily, cement was smooth. We expected lots of dust, but all areas were covered in plastic, and dust was minimal. All work areas were left clean when the job was completed. The crew was also courteous and professional. .We would highly recommend this company to anyone looking for basement waterproofing.

I called Bill at Budget Waterproofing based upon the excellent reviews found on Angie's List, which we just had joined. We had a problem with water seeping into our basement during extended moderate or heavy rains and had intended just to have some type of barrier installed on the exterior of the house. But when Bill arrived for an on-site estimate, he quickly diagnosed that that would be a futile effort and recommended the French drain solution along with a beefed up sump pump. We had contacted a different basement waterproofing outfit maybe ten years ago and their cost estimate ($10+K) and solution (dig down along the outside walls of the house and engineer some type of impervious barrier along with a second sump pump inside) scared us off all these years. But the price Bill offered, the no-wait schedule, and the prospects of worry-free tropical storm events in the future sealed the deal. And you could tell that Bill is a straight shooter and knows his business well. The work started on the very next Monday and the guys who did the work were very polite and professional. They busted up all the concrete and carried it out during our recent "polar vortex", meaning they worked through unbelievably cold weather conditions and the whole job was done right in schedule -only three days. They cleaned everything up beautifully and we were left with clear directions on when and how to seal the concrete when it cures in a few more weeks time. All in all a lot of hard work done in a very short time at an amazing pricing in my opinion. I definitely would recommend Budget Waterproofing to anyone interested in this type of installation.

I called the company and made an appointment for an estimate. Bill came out to investigate the problem and he arrived on time. He was courteous and explained what the problem was and how they would repair it. We negotiated a price and signed a contract. There was no pressure he was personable and clear. The work was scheduled to take place on Dec 23 and 24. The three man crew arrived at 9 am on the 23rd introduced themselves explained the process and began unloading the truck and working. A few hours later i went down to see what was going on and they had covered things in plastic to reduce the dust and were working. There was a lot of jack hammering and removal of debris which they shoveled into buckets and lifted out through the basement window. They did this so they didn't track the dust upstairs through my living room. I continued to check on the progress of the work throughout the day and asked questions which were answered promptly by Jose. The next day (Christmas Eve) the team arrived back at 9 am and began work. I again checked regularly on the progress and asked questions. The work unfolded the way that Bill had described it would. They finished the job around 530pm on Christmas Eve. They left the basement swept and tried to clean the walls and baseboards. I told them it wasn't necessary as I would be painting the basement. I will recommend this company to family and friends. In a month or so I will update this review to discuss exactly how the new drain tile system is functioning but as far as the work that has been completed I couldn't be more pleased.

Mr. Bill Bollinger came to our home on 10/11/13 to inspect our problem and give us an estimate. He was professional, courteous, friendly, and most importantly, on time (a plus!). He explained how the job would be done, answering all of our questions. The work was scheduled to be started and completed on the 14th, just 3 days later (another plus!). The work crew came on time, and were professional and courteous. I was expecting a lot of dust due to the amount of drilling that had to be done. To my surprise there was virtually none (plus, plus!), and they did an excellent job from beginning to end. Thank you so much!! My wet basement nightmares are finally over!!

This firm had done a job for me in 1994 when I found a small leak in my basement near a fireplace; they installed a below-floor drain to the sump pump that remedied the problem that still does the trick til this very day. However, I got 3 estimates for this much larger job. One outfit gave me an estimate of over 3 times the cost of this job; another's estimate for essentially the same work was several hundred dollars higher. Because of my prior experience with Budget Waterproofing, the rationale provided by the estimator about what needed to be done, and the estimated cost, I chose this company. I was told the job could take up to 3 days, but it was actually completed in 2 days. Despite their covering everything with plastic sheeting before they started digging the trenches, there still is a lot of dust on basement surfaces, especially the basement floor. When I first used my clothes washer after it was hooked back up, I noticed a small leak from beneath the sanitary tub where the clothes washer's drain hose empties. I called Budget Waterproofing, and the estimator came out right away & tightened the hookup,; it solved the problem. I had also noticed that, after being hooked back up, the tumbler in my 20-year old clothes dryer wasn't tumbling anymore -- even though it was putting out heat. The estimator said that he did not think his company's moving the dryer had anything to do with that but, if a repairman determined that Budget Waterproofing was responsible, they would replace it! A repairman came out, changed a broken belt & agreed that the belt had just worn out, that moving the dryer had nothing to do with the belt's breaking when it did... but I surely was impressed with this company's offering to replace my 20-yr old dryer if their moving it back & forth had caused the dryer to malfunction. More than that, I am a senior citizen, head of household with some heavy items in the basement. Budget Waterproofing has offered to send its crew back to my home to help move the heavier items back against the walls after the new concrete has "cured" and I have ttreated it with a concrete sealer which I am to apply 6 weeks after the job was completed. I couldn't be more pleased with this company, the cost of the job, and the work that was done... I'm just waiting for a big downpour to see confirm that I don't have to worry about any water in the basement anymore!!! It hasn't rained significantly since 9/13 yet!
Description of Work: First, they moved everything in my basement to the center of the room & covered it with plastic sheeting. Then, to eliminate a leak in an interior basement wall that was @ 2 feet from the floor, Budget Waterproofing dug a trench around the perimeter of my basement floor to install a subfloor drain tile system into which they put gravel & a perforated 4" PVC pipe & drainboard. They hauled away all of the debris they removed from the trench they dug around the perimeter of the basement floor, then re-cemented the floor over the new drain tile system.

Bill was very prompt and came by to talk about redoing the drainage system in our basement. He was very knowledgeable and spent a considerable time educating me on the ins/outs of basement drainage issues. He was by far the lowest price and very honest about his workmanship and expectations. I ended up going with a competitor because even though I was on borderline of needing a 2nd sump pump, they were able to get within $100 of his price and offered considerably more than Bill did. Overall, I would still recommend this company.

Working with this company helped to make a bad situation bearable. We thought we had a small amount of water seepage at our rental property and it turned out we had significant water AND hazardous mold growth. All of this within days of our tenants hoping to take occupancy of the unit. Budget waterproofing was able to provide me with an estimate within 24 hours of my call and begin work the following day. The crew arrived early to the work site (such a great surprise) and finished within the allotted time frame. The house was left clean and 100% mold free. His work is guaranteed so we feel great knowing our current and future tenants will never have to deal with this again.
