Awful. I called on Tuesday am first thing. Informed diagnosis would be $99. I said ok, but needed it fixed before the weekend when major heat wave predicted. Tech came out midday Wednesday. Said blower and motor needed replacing and that his office would call with price and availability within two hours. I paid and after several hours called the office. Asked them to schedule the install even as they awaited supplier quote, and was refused, but assured clerk was at next desk working on the quote for me. I waited until midday Thursday and did not hear from them, so I called another company I had done business with several times and two men were here within the hour, disassembled the blower components, left and returned within and hour with a new blower (no motor). Installed the new blower and everything works fine, two hours from first arriving at my house. Late Thursday, I still had not received a call from Arundel Cooling & Heating. It was by then obvious they were not working to spare me a rotten weekend with no cooling. Called and was told an email had been sent with price quote. I looked in spam and online...no email had been sent. I asked for a refund of the $99 and was refused. Just a diagnostic fee mill that tried to oversell me an unneeded motor. Major appliance factory repair operations charge a similar diagnostic fee, but quote the repair cost and availability in the same visit utilizing laptop computers . This is what I anticipated.

I purchased the 2 hours labor deal for $252 and called to schedule. I was called back with an appointment response time of 1/2 hour. Doug arrived promptly, quickly diagnosed and corrected the problem. Not satisfied with the circuit arrangement I had, he consulted his office which provided an expensive solution. After some thought he devised and installed a perfect solution and charged me only for $50 in parts. Doug's persistence in finding a the right sol;union was admirable. He wanted the customer to be satisfied and was not going to give up until he had done so.

This is the first year I did not do a pre-season AC checkup. When I turned on the system during the early heat wave in late May, I noticed that the air was blowing, but it was not cool, and the temperature kept rising. I called a different service provider (the one that had installed the system) and they refused to come because I had Terminix's treated blown-in insulation in my attic. I had told them that they needed paper coveralls and shoe covers, and they absolutely refused to come. I then called Arundel, who has done work on my AC before, and they made the appointment. The technician came, found the issue, and arranged for repair. Unfortunately, the needed part had to be ordered, plus they had many other customers, so the total time I had to wait from the first call to the repair was two weeks. The temperature in my house was 86 degrees. The repair went smoothly, and it has been very comfortable in my home. The guys treated my home with great respect and did their best to keep it clean. It is a difficult situation, as my house is old, and the system is in the attic which is accessed through a trap door. It is very tight and hot in my attic, and I know the technicians had a real challenge to work there. Only thin technicians could access the space, so that was a challenge for the company. I could not be more pleased with Arundel.

When I called they informed me they could come out the next afternoon. About 30 minutes later they called and asked if we were able to have them come over in a half hour. They came out and looked at AC and then walked is through how to replace the thermostat.

We have a 10-year parts-only warranty with Arundel. What they don't tell you is that besides labor, they also charge a diagnostics fee. Last year when my inducer motor on my furnace went, I informed them that was the issue. They still sent someone out to inform me that was the problem, then he had to leave, order the part, and come back a few days later. They also tried charging more for the labor than the other quote I received for the part and labor combined. To their credit, when I threatened to leave a negative review they worked with me on the price and diagnostic fee. Now my condenser fan motor stopped. At least this time they told me about the diagnostic fee, but they can't make it out to see the system for a few days. What is the point of A. the warranty, and B. going with a large company where you assume they would have same-day service? Just fed up at this point.
Description of Work: Last time they replaced the furnace's inducer motor. This time I can't wait around in the heat for them to come diagnose, then presumably wait another few days for them to get the parts.

I choose Arundel Cooling and Heating to provide a quote from the positive comments on Angie’s List related to their work with older homes. I also got quotes from 2 others. First we needed an upgrade to the electrical in our circa 1908 house, including the removal of exposed knob and tube wiring throughout the basement. Second we were interested in installation of a central AC system to replace the 5 existing window units. The two people from Arundel that came for the two separate quotes were knowledgeable of working with old homes like ours and were sympathetic to our needs and budget. The other companies that gave came quotes on the electric work clearly did not want to be bothered with replacing the old wiring and dealing with the things you find with an old house. Arundel was not the lowest quote, but their professional approach got them the business for both the electrical and AC. For the AC, we went with the split-unit Mitsubishi heat pump and are extremely pleased. Right after install we had a cold snap and the heating far exceeded the existing boiler and radiator, although we had always been pleased with it and were only needing the AC. Now that we are in the first heat of the year, the AC is working extremely well and being able to only turn on the units in the rooms needed is a big plus. And having the window units out greatly reduces the noise inside and out. Perhaps the best recommendation is that both city inspectors that came to the house went out of their way to tell us that Arundel had done a very good neat and clean job. Both the electric and AC crews were polite, kept us informed of progress and left everything clean and neat at the end of each day. I highly recommend Arundel and will not hesitate to use them again in the future.

It went very well. Everyone was very friendly and professional.
Description of Work: My heat pump was having problems right before the big snowstorm in Jan. I purchased a Big Deal with Arundel and they were at my house by 2 or 3 that very same day. Turns out I had a 23-year-old unit. They put in a new unit. I called around and got quotes from other companies and found out that Arundel was offering the lowest price for that particular heat pump.

Really Good advice and fixed thermostat. He was also very professional and knowledgable. Also thanks for coming on such short notice!!
Description of Work: Fixed thermastat circuits not touching, therfore thermostat was not triggering furnance to turn on. He also gave diagnostic of the 2 different noises the furnance was making. Nothing immediately serious but recommended replacement instead of repairs since replacement would be almost as much as new. Which wasn't worth it for 20 year old furnance.

Paid 89.00 for a 20 point inspection of our current HVAC unit. Overall communication and professionalism were great and thought they were very punctual. However, at the time of the inspection, we were already having issues with our HVAC to the point it would not cool the house so it was a well timed inspection to hopefully identify the problem. Unfortunately, the individual who performed the inspection chalked it up to a dirty filter. Unfortunately, this was not the issue as the air condition continued to not work correctly. Subsequently, we contacted the company again and asked them to send someone else to give it a look. The second individual was able to determine the root cause (gunked up piston) and fix it (about $500). So in terms of the $89 deal, I can't recommend that at all as it does not appear it was effective at identifying a glaring issue; I would be concerned what they potentially missed on this 20 point inspection that dovetailed into a larger problem. However, the subsequent follow up inspection went well.

Despite the weather being miserable (snow and freezing rain causing roads to be difficult to navigate -- especially in our community), the technician made it on time. They had offered to reschedule because of the weather, but since I had already driven a long distance to get to the property, they made an effort to still get a technician out to the property so that I did not have to make the trip twice -- even after the first technician got stuck trying to get there. It was very much appreciated. The technician who did arrive completed the work efficiently and explained what was done.

I called regarding an issue with one of our geothermal units. The women on the phone sounded like she was going thru the motions - not friendly or customer oriented at all. We have had an issue with this unit for some time and I explained that I needed someone excellent in problem solving. I was quoted $99.00 for a diagnostic and service call. I explained that we had 2 other companies come out and look at our units and unfortunately without any success. I also explained that we had multiply units that I felt are working but not working as well as possible - could they also take a look at them. She said that will be $99.00 a unit - What! I've been calling around and she is the first company that is charging me per unit - every company I have called was charging me for the service call. I was having high hopes considering the reviews were high but extremely disappointed from the original conversation with their rep to their pricing structure - considering I explained that we have spent so much money to resolve this issue. Sounds like this company only cares about charging the customer. Sad! I'm happy to pay if the problem is diagnosed/resolved correctly. I surely didn't feel comfortable/confident regarding their potential in resolving my problem after speaking to their rep - I'll go with a smaller company with better service and a better attitude.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention and we apologize for the service in which you received from our rep. We do charge $99 diagnostic per unit as the time it takes to evaluate the complete system. Since you had 7 systems we would have reduced the rate to $99 per two systems. Unfortunately being a larger company we are unable to compete with the smaller companies but hopefully they corrected the issues with your system. Also I will be addressing the rep of whom you spoke with regarding the way that she handled your call. If you have any questions or would like to speak with me please call 410-789-8300 and ask for Jeffrey Greer. Have a great day!

I bought a deal through Angie's List for the diagnostic. The process went fairly smooth. I thought I had found the company that I will regularly use for servicing. The part for the furnace that I purchased was on the pricier side, but at the time I decided I was willing to pay more for peace of mind thinking that the process is easy and the company is an expert in its line of work. Barely a few months down the road, the furnace started to make a sound. I called the company back and let them know this was occurring. I asked them to come out again so they could diagnose the problem. I also indicated that I was concerned that it had barely been a few months since the diagnostic and $760 later it seemed like there was a problem. They told me they would charge me for a diagnostic again! I told them I didn't think it was fair to have to pay for another diagnostic given that I had just had them come by. By now I was talking to someone named John, a manager. I told him if there were problems that needed addressing of course I would pay for them, but it just didn't seem fair to have to pay for a diagnostic again. Not only was John unsympathetic he was actually quite aggressive. He told me that as a courtesy he would charge me for the diagnostic, but if it was anything related to what they did a few months ago, he wouldn't charge me for the repair. No kidding! If my furnace is acting up because you didn't do your job properly, of course you shouldn't charge me for it. It is not a courtesy or a favor: it is called doing your job properly. John was adamant that they were going to charge me the full diagnostic fee for anyone to come out. He didn't even bother to tell me that they had the same deal on Angie's List for the diagnostic, he just kept saying he was going to charge me the full price. As I mentioned earlier, I didn't mind paying more money for peace of mind or knowing I have an expert I can rely on, but this second time I communicated with them proved me wrong on both ends. I have neither peace of mind nor am I dealing with an expert. Needless to say, I went with another company.
Description of Work: Anne Arundel Cooling Heating & Electrical came to conduct a diagnostic on my heating & cooling system. The technician then indicated my furnace needed a new motor which I ordered through them. Once the part arrived, the technician came back to install it. Barely a few months later, my heating system started to make a noise and I had to reach out to them again.

We weren't able to use their services and had to cancel at the last minute. They were very understanding and professional.
Description of Work: This company provided great customer service. My house sale was scheduled to close on Nov19 and last minute we found we needed a GFCI installed as a condition of sale. We had obtained a quote for this earlier but had not heard from the seller on how to proceed and whether the proposed wiring layout was acceptable. At the last minute, Arundel Cooling and Heating was willing to schedule an electrician to come out within 48 hours and also sent the master electrician out to see if the wiring could be run differently. In the end, the house buyer decided he wanted the money and would get it installed after the house purchase. I then called Arundel and told them I had to cancel at the very last minute. Lynn was very understanding and professional and there was no cancellation fee. The master electrician was also professional and helped us realize that his initial wiring layout was the correct way to proceed. I will seek them out next time I need electrical work!

Arundel was one of three contractors asked to quote the replacement of two 15 year old systems. While not the lowest price, they by far exceeded on the performance of the systems (Carrier Infinity High Efficiency Units 20SEER /18 SEER) and the comprehensiveness of the job. Starting with the estimate, nothing was left uncovered from the location of condensate drains, the access needs for installation, financing, warranties, maintenance plans, and expected savings in heating/cooling in future BG&E bills. The estimator arrived on time, in fact early, and showed extensive knowledge with Carrier's Product lines and systems that was the clincher for selection. Estimator also got the entire scope of the job correct - we never had any installation issues or "missing items" that added costs to the initial estimate. Again not the lowest price today, but the estimator understood we were willing to pay more now for quality and savings for the next 15 years. Even so, Arundel can match other estimates for similar (and lower efficiency systems) if initial price is an issue. Installation was planned for four days but completed in less than two and a half. Technicians arrived early, worked very professionally, completed work with extremely efficiency, and talked knowledgeably about the systems. Same two technicians worked the job each day, allowing homeowner to accomplish work and run errands feeling that job was is safe and capable hands. Since job involved going in and out multiple doors, technicians took care not only to secure the doors each evening but close and secure exterior yard gates for dog. Since work involved main power, they made sure homeowner was aware when breakers had to be changed out to prevent computer issues, and when they were leaving for lunch/afternoon. Work was conducted with extremely high standards of workmanship, quality, and professionalism - not evident from other HVAC contractors we have used previously. While I expect these systems to last twenty years, I would readily go to Arundel for the HVAC systems and services again - they are that GOOD!

An $89 diagnostic call was purchased on a Friday. The company arranged to have someone out (Louis) around 2 pm that day (which was a relief to me because every other company did not have any slots available for same day). Louis arrived on time and was very professional. After a quick investigation, it was decided that a gas valve would need to be replaced. Louis proceeded to tell us that the part would need to be for Monday because the part's company was closing in 15 minutes. With no call on Monday, I contacted the company on Tuesday as was told my part had not come in and they would be out first thing Wednesday morning to install. John, the second technician, was very jovial and professional. He installed our part in a short amount of time and left with a $321.00 check (a $402 estimate with an online company coupon for 20% off). After returning from an out of town trip on Saturday, I discovered the heat DID NOT WORK. Frustrated, I contacted the company's emergency line. A technician responded within 5 minutes and contacted us via phone to convey that a new tech would be dispatched for the following morning. The following morning, we were informed that the part we had just replaced was bad ("sometimes it just happens" he says). Another part would be ordered promptly. Three days later, yet another technician arrived to install the new "new" part. It, too, was "bad." Sensing an underlying issue, the tech continued to investigate. Later, the actual culprit was determined.. a fuse of some sort (a total charge of $139 for the part and labor). SO, at that point I decided to contact the company for their contingency plan regarding refunds, etc. At that time, I was informed that a refund was indeed in order. Called on 10/20/2015 to inquire how the refund was to be dispersed...was told at that time that they had no record of any refund and to call back next week when every, single supervisor would be back from a business trip. Super frustrated. :::::::*****UPDATE*****::::::::: (10/28/2015) Recently got off the phone with the company. A refund will indeed be issued in the amount of $210 by check via mail. There was an inability to communicate computer files within the company between employees and thus, miscommunication ensued. I am reevaluating my former assessment and have recorded them as such. Thank you for resolving my issue with such patience and grace.
