My central air unit was very old and some of the parts needed were no longer available. Arundel Heating & Cooling repairmen were able find other parts and get the unit working. It's been working great through the hot summer. The repairmen were very professional and knowledgeable. The staff at the office was very friendly and professional. The fees charged were reasonable, especially considering all that was needed to get the unit's air handler working. I felt that I could place my trust them in getting a job well done.

My central air unit was leaking water in the basement. I called Arundel Cooling and Heating based on the positive reviews they had received on Angie's list and I was not disappointed. The receptionist was pleasant and knowledgeable and was able to send a repairman out the day after I called. The repairman was on time and quickly diagnosed and fixed a clogged drain hose. He also showed my husband how to clean the hose to prevent it from clogging in the future. I was pleased by the prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable service and would use this company again.

I called Arundel Cooling & Heating 8-9-11 to request an estimate to have a new compressor under warranty installed. Since I already had another company give me an estimate for the same job, Arundel Cooling & Heating scheduled my service date for 8-10-11. James, the service technician, did a great job. He was very knowledgable, honest and helpful. I would call Arundel Cooling & Heating for all my future HVAC needs.

I elected to call Arundel C&H because of all the positive ratings/reviews here on Angie's List. Our A/C wasn't reaching its desired temperature - despite all the maintenance we performed (hosing off the unit, etc). Arundel C&H was extremely prompt (and friendly) in their response to my call for service. They were able to send somebody out the next morning!!! They provided a nice, narrow window of arrival (not a giant 4 - 6 hour time frame). They called when they were headed our direction and the technician arrived right on-time. He was super knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, polite, and courteous, and he cleaned up after himself. All that we needed was a re-charge. Our A/C unit was brand new in 2010, it needed a charge last year and then again this year. I don't know why a new system is needing charged, but it looks like this is something we are going to have to do every year now. I was happy to hear that Arundel C&H uses a non-ozone depleting refrigerant, that's for sure. We will certainly call Arundel C&H for all of our heating and cooling needs. We'll have them back out here in the fall to make sure our furnace is ready for the winter. :) Thanks for such amazing customer service - from cradle to grave!!! "Dave" came out on time on Tuesday, did a great job, and eventually pointed out the cost effectiveness of a service plan, which I purchased for a small amount more than the repair would have costs me.. He made the repairs and conducted an extensive service inspection/maintenance. Within one hour I have A/C and do not have to worry about my system's performance in the future. Great job!!!!

It is Sunday and my AC has been broken since friday. House is as hot inside as out. This was one of the few place that actually had an answering service for emergency work. I gave the service my information and was told "the on-call will call you in a few minutes". A few minutes on a Sunday I figure could mean an hour or so. 6 hours later still haven't heard anything. Called their answering service just gives me a busy signal, guess they are too busy for me :(

We knew we needed a new AC, and because of the feedback Arundel had gotten on Angie's list we called them. They came out the same day, gave us a quote, and we signed the contract. That was on a Thursday and they started the job the following Monday. The guys were all professional and courteous, from the sales people through the guys who did the installation. The job was not free of problems (apparently they ran into a lot of electrical problems that they had not foreseen), and the new compressor, which was very large, was put in the same place as the old compressor, which was quite small. It hadn't occurred to me beforehand to ask if the new compressor could have gone in a different spot. Unfortunately, I didn't think of asking this until after the compressor was installed, when it presented a big eye sore. I felt badly about this, but it really needed to go in a different place. Nonetheless, the salespeople were gracious and worked with me on this---we reached an agreement, and they had their guys out the next day to move the compressor! This is a smart company. They know I have some big jobs down the road (replacing AC on the first floor and major work done on our boiler), and they knew that working with me on the compressor, even though it was a drag for them I'm sure, was going to leave a very favorable impression on me and make it very likely that I'd use them again, which I'm sure I will. We have tried many AC companies over the years, and this is the first one we feel very confident recommending.

I contacted Arundel for service because my air conditioning was not operating. They responded the next day and determined that the compressor had failed. Due to the age of the equipment and cost to repair the existing compressor, we made the decision to replace the unit. Arundel provided a quote within two hours and installed the new unit two days later. The administrative staff and technicians were responsive, courteous and provided a quality installation and workmanship.

They were super nice. He was quite personable. Their offer seems fair in comparison to what I had found before I joined Angie’s List.

They checked the unit, showed me what the problems were, replaced the capacitor, added freon and generally did a great job! I will be using them again and I highly recommend them. Also, for any women out there...they didn't talk down to me or try to take advantage of me despite my gender.

I got another estimate which was double the quote amount given by Arundel. They explained thoroughly to me and they did the job very efficiently.

It's now three days after the job has been completed, and I can't see how it could have gone better. I feel I received incredible value for my money - the right price, installed ahead of schedule, very professional team, and most of all, my AC works and my house is cool. Here's the whole story from start to finish. Our home has two HVAC systems, one in the basement and the other in the attic. Our home was built in 1998 before stricter efficiency requirements for HVAC systems went into place. The system in the basement, which was sized larger, always did a decent (not great) job of heating and cooling. The attic system always had problems during lower and higher outside temperatures. The system was never able to meet the requirements, and servicemen always had to come in to tweak the system. It got so bad, that my wife used electric heaters in the winter and slept on the lower levels during the summer - not great for the marriage. After 12 years, we finally reached our limit and decided to get the attic unit replaced. I've been researching systems and determined that a fair price would come in between $5,500 to $10,000 depending on the size of the unit and features. The prices for different venders seemed to vary greatly. On May 31, 2011, I called several vendors to get a quote. I made it clear that I was looking for a new system. Two vendors said they would get back to me, and they never called back. I found Arundel Heating and Cooling on Angie's List. The receptionist picked up the phone on the first ring. I told her what I needed and she said a representative would be there 12N the following day. The representative from Arundel was there on-time and started to inspect my system. He listened carefully to my issues and came up with a solution for my problem. He also noticed that it was difficult to get into my attic since I do not have attic stairs, so he arranged for someone to come out and install stairs (this is something i wanted for years). During our conversation, I also indicated that my daughter has allergies and I was spending a lot of money for filters on my portable air cleaners (about a $1,000/year for HEPA filters). Therefore, he recommended electric air cleaners for both systems, which in the long run, would save me a ton of money. We agreed on a fair price and he scheduled installation within one week after our discussions. The installation technicians showed up ontime the following week. They clearly explained exactly what needed to be done. They noticed that my breaker panel circuit was not properly sized for the unit, so they arranged for an electrician to come out and install a new circuit while they installed the unit. The Arundel installation Team finished the job in two days, showed me how everything worked, and went over all of my paperwork. Three days later, my house is cool (the temperature was close to 100 yesterday) and my wife and daughter are happy. I came out looking like the hero, although Arundel should get the credit. Out of all of this, here's the only bad news for me. The new system they installed is working so well, and my experience was so good, that I can see that the lower level system may be replaced real soon. Arundel Heating and Cooling did a great job from beginning to end. I highly recommend them to anyone looking to replace a HVAC system. We first asked Arundel Heating and Cooling to come out because our AC wasn't outputting cold air. The technician arrived very promptly after a reminder call before he was on his way--our appointment was the first of the morning. He assessed the situation and quickly determined that we were out of freon, which he refilled and was on his way. He explained that there were several reasons for freon to be diminished and that one likely reason was a leak. So, after he left we scheduled a system leak assessment for the next week. Fortunately, no leaks were found. The three different staff that we dealt with were all exemplary and helped us to get coupon savings for our visits. I would highly recommend this business to others.

After contacting Arundel cooling and heating. The representative told me that any time after 4pm would be over time and they could not look at my air conditioner for less than $150. Both fiance' and I have full time jobs and this was just too high of a jump from normal hours at $90-$150 for overtime.

Company responded quickly to initial contact for service. A date was set up for service for which they provided a half-hour advance notice so I could get home to meet them. The technician arrived promptly and throughly checked out my system. The system needed some freon for which there was an additional $99 charge in addition to the $59 Big Deal charge, which I guess is appropriate. The technician was courteous and professional.

There was no work performed because they did not show up for the appointment to estimate the job.

From start, when Arundel called in in the morning, the customer service rep was pleasant and when I mentioned I had a coupon from Angie's site, she offered a coupon that was $10 greater in savings from their main website. The dispatcher called me in the afternoon to say the technician was on their way. He did not say how long and it seemed like an hour. The technician was respectful, professional and polite. A very good experience and I definitely would use them again.

Our initial call to the office was professional and an appointment was made timely for a free consultation. The company sent out 2 advisors, Henry for the heating and cooling system, and John for the electrical. Both gentlemen were professional, friendly and extremely experienced. We were very impressed with the consultation compared to the limited recommendations by other companies. The team consisted of 6 guys who showed up on time, were very polite and nice and did the work quickly. Henry and John also come to the home to make sure everyone is on board with the job. Once the work was complete, Arundel made all the arrangements for the inspections and follow up on the electrical portion of the job. We are so glad we found them with high scores on Angies List, they were well deserved. We also felt the price was right based on the amount of work we requested.

It started as a two day job. One day to remove the old boiler and another to install the new boiler. The removal and install went on as scheduled. After the crew left on the second day, I could not control the heat, the three zones were missed wired and were wide open. I had service come back on Monday to trouble shoot the problem. The three celluloids were replaced and rewired. The thermostates were also replaced when service found they had installed the wrong type. After service left it was determined that the upstairs zone was not getting hot. Service was sent back to bleed the air from the upper baseboards. On the fourth day all was complete. All of the crews were profesional and courteous.

Each heat pump took about a day and a half and the same two man crew i(Bryan and Shawn) installed both. They were prompt, polite and professional. Worked very diligently and neatly, and removed all debris when finished. Felt confident that Bryan, the experienced master installer, was very proficient. Shawn was also conscientious worker and installed thermostats on walls very neatly aligned. Price for units was competitive - about same or slightly lower than other quotes I'd received for same or similar units. Their service was excellent. Sales Manager & company principal John Van Horne and his staff were responsive and easy to communicate with via email and fax. They took care of submitting rebate from BG&E tho I haven't received it yet.

We wanted to update our 25-year old furnace and AC in time to take advantage of tax credits in 2010. Henry Yox came out promptly to assess our needs, and was able to give us detailed quotes on the spot. We did considerable research on the internet, and it came down to the idea that all the major brands of furnaces are pretty much comparable, but it's the installer who makes all the difference. Arundel Cooling and Heating was very highly recommended by Angie's List, and we went with their recommendations. When we had a question about one AC model that they hadn't mentioned to us, Mr. Yox was very knowledgeable about why it wouldn't have been appropriate for the size of our house and existing ductwork. The installers were able to get the heat on by the end of the first day, which was great. And were very professional and courteous. I'd recommend them to anyone without hesitation.

When I called for service, I specifically asked if the company had a service where they could insert a long tube with camera to check for blockages in air ducts. The dispatcher assured me they offered this service. I scheduled a visit from a technician for an afternoon between 2-5. The tech arrived close to 5:00PM, although the dispatcher did call me 30 minutes prior to let me know the tech was on his way. When he arrived, he did not have the tube/camera with him, although he had a camera in his SmartPhone. He used that to look at the air duct in my son's bedroom and saw no blockages. He checked all the rooms on the upper level to find out which had air coming in. Every room except my son's room had warm air. The tech traced the path of the air ducts down into the basement, then found a vent in the ceiling near the furnace area. He used his flash light to see up into the duct area and noted something up there. When he removed the vent, he found 3 pieces of clothing stuffed into the ducts. Once the ducts were cleared, warm air could be felt in the basement and in my son's room. The total time needed for this call: 15 minutes. It was worth every penny, because the tech, James, was friendly, professional, and so intrigued by the problem he wanted to find the answer. He was as pleased as me by the resuts. I'm giving lower grades than usual simply due to the miscommunication by the scheduler regarding the required equipment and the late arrival of the tech (not his fault, though) Final note: This was the second time we had called an HVAC company in to identify the problem. The first one was dispatched by our home warranty company; that contractor said they would have to cut into our dry wall to find the problem. It's hard to believe that tech never bothered to check the vent in the basement, but then, we were stuck with using a company dispatched by the home warranty company.

The tech arrived on time. Was knowledgable, quick, effecient, and honest.

Instead of finding reasons to charge me for unnecessary work, they were totally honest and did not hesitate to tell me what they did wrong. Refreshing.....

Company installed a central air conditioning and heating system in newly purchased 110-year old Baltimore row house. It was not inexpensive..but the house was a challenge, structurally, and the company did an excellent job. The company found a solution to centrally air condition the home that required minimal ductwork installation and minimal intrusion into the aesthetic integrity of an old row home, which was very appreciated. Will be returning to company to investigate what if offers in the way of annual maintenance/service contract, etc. Company representative John Van Horne, Jr. was highly professional, informative, and knowledgeable. He engendered trust and confidence in this first-time home buyer.
