They found the leak in condenser coil. But the pressure to buy a whole new system (when mine was only 4 years old and under warranty) was extraordinary. I opted not to replace, but rebuild coil. I then got a call from office - and they too wanted me to buy an all new system. At that point I then checked Angie's list and noted HOW MANY people had their whole system replaced. I am not sure that's a good sign.

I was more than pleased with them. They came when they said they would. They worked quickly. They couldn't have been more delightful. They cleaned up everything. Their price and quality of service were excellent. They were responsive and punctual. I would use their services again in the future.

She has a pretty reasonable contract with them. The overall experience was excellent. The price and quality were excellent. They are prompt and courteous workers. They are professional and responsive. I would use this provider again.

Service technician arrived as scheduled and did work thoroughly while also offering advice about the wall units and estimate for adding an additional lower return for central unit. Will probably be calling them back to have them add the lower return. Good job, easy to deal with, excellent customer service.

Used Arundel for A/C repair and eventual installation of new HVAC system in July & October, 2011. While researching Electricians on Angie's List and running through House maintenance files I realized Arundel also did electrical work. I had spent an hour researching and was debating between 2 other companies that specialized in electrical but I had such a good experience with Arundel last year that I called them. I described the event and the gentleman on the phone said he had a technician out just finishing up a job and would be there shortly.I needed some time to finish up some work so the technician arrived in 45 minutes at my request. The technician was thorough and informative; inspected the breaker panel, some major areas of concern and the outside meter. He spent time discussing the possibilities of the event as well as some other general questions & concerns and did not rush the appointment. We determined that the event may have been caused by a very large power surge, possibly by BGE doing work on a transformer or other in the area (as they are currently working to replace residential meters in the area I originally thought the sound, vibration was BGE working on my house outside since the event was so powerful). He said he would have someone send me some additional information regarding our discussion for future inspections, etc. Once again, very pleased. When I mentioned that they had installed our new HVAC a few months prior the technician mentioned Arundel had recently added plumbing to their services which may make it easier to find someone for other projects in the future.

July 11, 2011 our a/c stopped working. After some research on Angie's List and other sources Arundel Cooling & Heating was called and were expedient in their response. Test showed a bad capacitor which was replaced and a failing cond motor. System was hardwired so we would have a/c and the part was ordered; visit including parts was $288. July 14, 2011 Installed new 1/5 HP 230 V cond motor and fan blade @ $576 parts & labor. Oct 20, 2011 a/c System stopped working; again they arrived promptly. Found shorted compressor and tripped breakers. Entire Compressor needed to be replaced as it was nearly melted. New compressor would cost a couple thousand dollars to replace on an 8 year old Bryant system with an estimated lifespan of 10 years.With much discussion but no pressure we decided to replace the entire HVAC system as we had already spent $864 in repairs 3 months ago. They did not charge us at all for this return visit. We went through our best choices of systems for our needs and a rough proposal was drawn. They gave us options on air filtering systems and did not try to upsell us services we did not need. We discussed seer ratings, duct cleaning and rebates. Oct 21, 2011 I called the service manager to discuss systems again in detail and decided the system recommended by the technician would fit our needs and a formal proposal was drawn & system was ordered. Oct 24, 2011 system was installed. Company was helpful with pricing and rebates and made known that Carrier offered a $1,000 rebate as well as a $400 BGE rebate & a $300 Federal Tax Credit; with paperwork and applications supplied.The complete system was installed promptly, cleanly & the technicians efficient and courteous. The following day the air duct cleaning was performed housewide; again the technicians were prompt, efficient, neat and friendly. As per their add on Angie's List they also honored a $50 coupon for complete system installation. After the rebates and tax credits our $9,396 Carrier 16.3 seer Heat Pump system ended up costing a total of $7,646. Compared to future repair bills of a few thousand dollars replacing the entire system was a wise choice responsibly as well as financially.We were/are very pleased with every aspect of their work from original response to pricing and quality. In house the Carrier system is much quieter than our initial Bryant unit although the outside system sits just below our bedroom window where the humming from the new system is slightly louder and more noticable than our previous unit; something the HVAC makers should be aware of & try to adjust in the future.

They did a fine job. As opposed to another company I used last year, they actually checked the compressor. It was my fault that I missed their call.

I interviewed two other contractors along with Arundel Cooling for this job. Arundel Cooling was about 25% less expensive than the other contractors and uses quality Trane products. From start to finish, it has been an absolute pleasure working with Arundel Cooling. The salesperson was responsive, friendly, and very accomodating to my schedule. The installation team is remarkable. They are the most meticulous team I have ever seen before. The ductwork they installed in my home is like a work of art! Not only is did they take the time to make the sheet metal ducting perfect, they also located it perfectly so that the basement of my home could easily be finished in the future without losing headroom or creating unnecessary bulkheads. I cannot say enough good things about my experience with EVERYONE at Arundel Cooling! If you use them, you will be completely satisfied!!!

They called to let me know the tech was on his way. I just purchased the house within the last year, I explained to Darren that I didn't understand the thermostat controls and the cooling wasn't great upstairs. He took the time to explain everything, and then adjusted my system so I get better cooling upstairs. I appreciate the extra effort on his part.

My 22 year old heat pump finally died so I got three estimates to have the entire system replaced. Two of the contractors were not Angie's List participants. John from Arundel Cooling & Heating not only came in with the best price, he was very professional and knowledgeable. He showed up at the specified time for the estimate and explained the products available and what he recommended. He made sure that I got the best deal possible including all the applicable rebates. He also sold me on the company explaining how long he had been there and the history of the company. I signed the contract and they were able to schedule the installation for the next day. The installers, Rob and Josh, showed up at the specified time and after brief introductions went right to work. They are very professional, know exactly what they are doing and completed the installation in one day. Everything was left clean and neat. I am very happy with Arundel Cooling & Heating and highly recommend them.

They are awesome and easy to deal with. The price was competitive. They did a fantastic job.

Great Company, Very Professional. Technician was called out because we were having an issue with the thermostat. After fixing the faulty connection with the wire, he inspected the furnace and found cracks in the heating exchange that I also had a bad blower fan. He wrote up an proposal and told me to call the sales manager to order an new furnace. I was really in a tight spot but Arundel Heating and Cooling was able to get some one out here the next day. I decided to go ahead and the replace the water heating as well. They were great to deal with, they didn't try to sell me more then what I needed. They also offer to give me an military discount, plus deduct the money that I paid for the inspection. I would use them again in a heart beat.

Overall, my experience with this company was very good from the initial phone call to the actual service appointment. They did exactly what they said they would do at the the time they said they would do it both courteously and efficiently. They were unable to reproduce the fault, as in the nature of intermittent problems, and, given that, they did not attempt to get me to by parts that "may" have caused the problem.

I switched several years ago from Blue Dot to Arnundel Heating and Cooling. Blue Dot was not responsive when needed an called and always tried to sell me a different A/C unit!

A contractor found a gas leak on the 22nd. BG&E got called in and the rep confirmed the leak and had to turn off my heat. So now I'm facing Thanksgiving week with no heat. I didn't think I'd be able to get anyone before the following Monday. Arundel however was able to respond and send someone out the very next morning. He had things up and running in no time, was very professional and offered advice about other things that I need to start thinking about. But he wasn't acting like a salesman which was nice. I will definitely consider using them in the future.

They sent a master plumber and helper to install. They installed a new zone for the basement with it's own recirculating pump and thermostat which was a big improvement over the previous system which had to be manually controlled by a valve and still the heat was uneven. The installation went OK- I was out of hot water over the weekend as there was an electrical short in the boiler circuit. A rep from Columbia boiler, the boiler supply company, came on Monday morning to fix it and has worked fine since. Arundel came back promptly to fix the condensate pump which wasn't pumping (although they should have checked this before leaving) and to seal the hole better where they installed new outdoor intake and exhaust vents. They only applied for plumbing and electrical permits after the work was completed and only after I had requested them. This is the major reason professionalism was rated a C. Arundel performed a manual j heat loss, but I wish they had programmed the boiler with that information as I had requested- instead of going with the factory settings. I am using trial and error to program the outdoor reset curve so that I can maximize the time that I'm sending out lower temps to radiators (under 140 degrees) which will get the most benefit out of a condensing boiler. Right now I have the coldest day at 17 degrees outdoor, 69 degrees indoor, and sending 140 degree water from boiler to radiators- it automatically adjusts the curve for warmer days based on that info. In October, just for water heating, we used 40% less fuel. This is another area where I had to re-program the boiler. The boiler's factory settings called for 186 degree water to heat the indirect water heater. Since we don't need a very fast recovery time- (not a lot of back-to-back showers), I was able to lower the temp the boiler sends to 140 degrees where I'm still getting the condensing benefit. I'm anxious to see what the heating season will bring in savings. As you can see, there is a lot more programming involved with the new condensing boilers. They can be installed correctly from a plumbing point of view and pass inspection, but if not programmed to match individual home characteristics, will not maximize savings.

DO NOT HIRE THIS RIPOFF COMPANY, THEY WON'T EVEN CALL YOU BACK AFTER THEY TAKE YOUR MONEY!!!!!!!! I had an appointment on 24 Oct 2011 and today is 31 Oct andd I still have not received a call from ANYONE at this company!!! We had snow Saturday morning and the tempeture has been in the low 30's, but nobody at this company seemed to care! So far, I have made every call to this comany to see if they have located the parts to fix my heat. I waited 3 days from the day they were here, waiting for a call, but I never received one, so I called them. After 3 days, WALT (remember that name if you are dumb enough to contact this company) tells me "we have 3 vendors that we are dealing with", I will see if they found anything. 3 places, 3 days, I could have done that in 10 mins on the web. I looked up the parts on the web with the poor chicken scratch paperwork I had, but apparently they don't try any companies other than the 3 he talked about. The parts could have been ordedered, arrived, and installed. He said I will call you back tomorrow, needless to say, he didn't call me back, so I called him AGAIN, and she put me on hold, came back and said, oh he is busy right now and can't come to the phone. At that point, I knew he was not going to call me back. I suffered through the weekend with no heat, called back this morning (Monday morning 1 week later) and Walt answered the phone. His excuse for not calling me back was because he left early Friday, so the receptionist at the front desk lies for him also. Instead of having someone else call me back or calling me BEFORE he left for his warm weekend, NOBODY CALLED ME!! I will be contacting Mr Van Horne to let him know how his workers treat the customers. I don't think he would want his customers to be treated like that, especially if he wants them to return. You can't build a company with employees like that. I also asked for an estimate to have it replaced, so I guess that is what they are banking on. It they tell me they can't get parts I will have to purchase a new system! I would not get a new system from this company if they were the last on earth!!!!!!!! Great experience overall. Appointments to review current system and provide a quote was scheduled very quickly. Salesperson examined existing system closely, took measurements of all components, and even took pictures for future reference. Receiving the quote took a few days longer than I would have expected, but it was during a very busy season. Arundel's quote was significantly less than other service providers. The installation crew arrived on time. They worked quickly and acted professionally with respect to entering the house and cleaning up after the job. The installation process lasted about 6 hours, to include one trip back to the shop to fabricate some of the ductwork. Great experience. Would work with Arundel again in the future.

I'm very pleased with the services performed by Arundel Cooling & Heating. I had been having problems with our A/C all summer, and we discovered that it had a leak somewhere. It was 11 years old and out of warranty, and since it costs thousands of dollars to find a leak, the only option was to completely replace it. I got proposals from four cooling & heating service companies in my area. The Arundel rep was the only one who sat down with me and explained everything in full detail. He showed me a binder that included Arundel's company background, manufacturer awards, Angie's List ratings, & BBB rating. He gave me (to keep) full-color, full-page brochures for each product that we discussed, and presented three different scenarios for me to consider: (1)-Replace only the A/C with a comparable (builder's grade) unit, (2)-Replace only the A/C with a more efficient unit, or (3)-Replace both the A/C & the furnace with more efficient units. He was at my house for over an hour explaining the options and answering my questions. He handwrote the proposal for all three options right there, and then emailed me a typed copy within 24 hours. I researched all four companies on Angie's List, compared all four proposals, and then decided to go with Arundel based on their Angie's List ratings, BBB rating, sales rep performance, and price. The technicians arrived on time on the first day of service and they wore booties over their shoes when they came inside my home (without me even asking them to). They were professional and courteous during their time here, and they were very clean and organized in their work areas. They arrived on time on the second day of service as well. When the installation was complete, they gave me a complete tour of the new appliances, explained how to properly care for them, and showed me how to operate the new digital thermostat. They were completely finished by around lunchtime on the second day. This was quite an expensive project and I'm glad I did my homework and thoroughly researched the companies that I was considering. I received excellent customer service, excellent technical service, and a very fair price. My overall experience was very positive and I will gladly refer my friends, neighbors, & colleagues to Arundel C&H in the future.

Went fine, handled very politely and efficiently.

Water was collecting around the bottom of my Air Handler in my utility space. I called Thursday afternoon and they were able to come out Friday afternoon. The Technician was a few minutes late but not too bad. It turns out the problem was a clogged condensate drain. The drain was inaccessible from above. The tech had a lot of trouble because of the physical installation of my system. It took him a couple hours to solve the problem. The service call only cost their $99 diagnostic charge. I'm very satisfied with the experience.

John came out and gave me a very good estimate and he was not pushy at all. I took the estimate and compared it to the 10 others I obtained and they were the best price vice what they would do. john was very knowledgable and seemed to know the difference between code minimums and how the instal should look like. Byran came out with a helper to install the gas piping and he was amazing. Really knew what he was doing and a great plumber. He went beyond code and installed the piping how he would do it in his own house. So far so good. They install the furnace once BGE finishes with the pipes. More later

I called and someone was at my door within two hours. They were professional, courteous, and found and fixed the problem in minutes. I was lucky enough that it was a simple clog, but it was not something that I could have found myself without some AC know-how. He was even nice enough to show me how to prevent it in the future. All in all, it was a very pleasant experience, a good price, and I would absolutely use them again in the future.
