Arrived on time. Very professional and knowledgeable.

I'm dividing this review up into two parts, as there were two elements that performed differently. The back story is that I recently moved into a home with a 30 year old furnace and an AC unit of almost the same age. The home inspector warned me that while the furnace was still running, I should start budgeting to replace the system sooner rather than later. A year later the furnace fan stuck at "on." When it wasn't blowing the warm air from the furnace, it was blowing cold air throughout the house. It turns out the problem was a stuck relay, and to replace the board (of course you can't just replace the one relay) would have been $550. There was no guarantee that some other part wouldn't soon break as well. After some discussion, we decided it was better to replace the furnace and AC together now, rather than pay for (possibly) several repairs, THEN replace it. I got quotes from several companies who carried different brands (Carrier, Lennox, and Rheem). I ultimately decided on Carrier, mostly because of the 10 year parts and labor warranty, and Arundel Heating and Cooling. I'll return to the quoting process later in this write up. The install team for Arundel was top notch. They arrived right on time, and dove right in. They told me up front they couldn't guarantee that the heat would be on the first night (it was a two day install), but they would do their best. They laid out material between the back door and the basement so the floor did not become a mess. They had an electrician come in who completely replaced the old wiring and ran new lines in to the furnace. The pipe lines to the AC condenser outside were completely replaced as well (one company that gave me a quote said they'd leave the old lines in... Arundel showed me how the old lines were full of oil, grease and other gunk. That "savings" would have cost me later when the gunk messed up the new system!). Instead of tying the lines up with string like they were before, Arundel put in much more study support, and wrapped everything well. Fortunately the first night they were able to give me heat, since I had a sick kid (it wasn't as efficient as a completed set up, but it worked). The next day they finished everything up, swept up after themselves, and went over the full system with me, including how to "lock" the programmed thermostat so I won't come home to find my wife has jacked the heat up to 80 degrees while I'm out (which she would do if she could ;-) ). These guys did an excellent job!! Now back to getting the quote. The person who gave me the quote was the only one who measured out my whole house to get me the "right" system, as opposed to the others who based their recommendations on what was in the house before. He explained the three different level systems I could have put in, and various add ons. My issue, though, was with the written estimate. In his estimate, he included a rebate from Carrier for $1,100. This brought the "high" system price to just about the same as the "medium" system. He also told me about a few financing options, including one that would let me pay 3 years without interest. I was still getting a few more quotes, and the estimate said it was good for 30 days. Approximately 2 weeks later, after getting the rest of the quotes, talking to some co-workers, and discussions with my wife, we decided to get the high end system from Arundel. When I called to let them know and to start setting up the schedule, etc., the person who gave me the estimate said "by the way, the rebate expired last week." To say that I was surprised was an understatement. He insisted that he told me of the expiration date, but there was a lot of information he conveyed, and obviously did not write down, as I would have definitely accelerated the decision making process to take advantage of the rebate. I did remember him telling me about a BG&E Rebate, but that was partially because all of the people giving quotes mentioned that. I informed him I'd have to think on this some more and would get in touch with him again. After further discussion with my wife, I stopped in at Arundel to talk about this (they happen to be between my home and office). When I went in, the person who gave me the estimate came out to talk to me further. After we discussed it a bit, he lowered the price from Arundel down $500. That still means that the system was $600 more than I expected, definitely not chump change, but by that point I didn't want to start the whole process over again, since the cold weather was upon us. After I reluctantly agreed to that, I spoke to the finance person about the 3 year program. She told me that program ended that week, the only way I could get it is if they could get the furnace installed in the next two days. Schedule-wise, that was impossible for me (plus she wasn't even sure anyone would be available to install it that quickly). I was able to get a one year interest free payment plan, but of course at higher payments than the 3 year I was expecting. Later on I talked to a co-worker who used and recommended Arundel to me. He showed me his quote from a few years ago from a different person (he said it was the son of the owner who did his quote). That quote also had rebates, and clearly stated what the expiration dates were for each rebate right on the quote form. I do hope that they start doing this again, for rebates and for any other time limited options (such as the interest free financing). The furnace is working well, although one further word of caution... if you get a furnace with a multi-stage motor (e.g. low and high fan), the lower setting (more energy efficient) doesn't always get the heat to the farthest reaches of the home, so while the central areas are warm, the far out bedrooms may still be chilly. Overall, I do recommend Arundel, just make sure you get EVERYTHING down in writing.

Arundel Cooling & Heating was a life saver. We noticed a burning smell coming out of our air ducts on the evening before Christmas Eve, called Arundel and they had someone out before noon on Christmas Eve. They ended up having to order a part, but they were in within two days to install the new part, just as promised. When we thought we had a slight hiccup with the replacement part, we called and Arundel was incredibly responsive (even though we didn't end up having an issue at all). After trouble with using other companies for our A/C issues, it was a huge relief to work with such a great company. Would definitely recommend.

The technician made a thorough check of the air conditioner, and found no problems. The inspection took about an hour.

The estimator was on time, and seemed competent. He promised a bid later that day, as I had stressed this unit needed to be replaced ASAP as it was for my rental unit and the tenant had just moved in December 1 and it was getting colder and my tenant needed heat. When I had not gotten a timely response, I emailed him wondering where the bid was? I did not hear back from him until December 28th, the day the new furnace was installed by another contractor. The bid was competitive as per price, with the other contractors (though the contractor I ended up selecting was much lower than all the other bidders, who were all in the same ball park except for the low bidder who was much lower and who I was also familiar with). He was completely clueless to my need to have the bid in a timely fashion so I could get my tenant much needed heat.

I purchased the Angie's list coupon for a 15 point tune up, clean and check. Compared to other offerings, this seemed to be a reasonable price. And reading the reviews on the company, this company seemed trustworthy and honest. When I called to make the appointment, they had availability right away. My only frustration was that they had a time window of about 3 hours in which someone could come by, which is inconvenient since I rent out the unit to which they were coming. On the day of the service, I was running late due to traffic. I called the company, and they were very understanding, and said the person was on their way and would wait. When I arrived, my tenant had let the guy in and he set to work right away. The inspection is really thorough. He completely took apart the furnace. He explained to me what he saw, which was a bunch of rust (which I shouldn't be surprised since it's been over 10 years since it's been serviced). He mentioned it might need to be shut down if carbon monoxide was found to be leaking. Now this was an opportunity for him to have taken advantage of me and made me buy a new furnace. Much to my delight, this guy was really honest and said it did not need immediate replacement, but it should be done relatively soon. He gave me a quote of how much it would be to replace the furnace, and while it did not have a breakdown of parts v. labor, the price was reasonable given what I read around online. What was nice is that he gave me a quote for a furnace that was efficient enough for my unit but not so efficient that it would result in me paying an unnecessarily high amount. Overall, I felt this company was really honest with a real interest in trying to educate their customer. I would definitely hire them again.

They returned our calls; came when promised; explained what caused the problem, fixed and explained what to do to prevent it in the future. I would definitely use again.

I am writing this review at a particularly low moment in my relationship with the company. I am very diispleased at the disparity between the amount I have paid to obtain a high quality system and the dysfunctional performance I have received, apparently due to shoddy installation. And now I am getting the run-around on the service call.

Arundel is perhaps the best provider of any type that I have used. They were totally honest and pleasant from the start. Their crews were true experts on generator installation and did an outstanding job from start to finish. They went thru the many steps required to complete the job without hesitation and with clear competence. Perhaps the best sign was their honesty and integrity in installing a new electric panel free of any charge to me because they had told me that I wouldn't need to have an upgrade. Now THAT is true integrity. I hated to spend so much money on a generator. However, Arundel was so good and has such high standards of excellence that they actually made me feel good about spending the money. Arundel also does regular electrical and plumbing work and, of course, installs and services furnaces and air conditioners. From now on I will call Arundel for any service they perform whenever I need it. The best of the best! I can't say enough good about this great company.

A++ From the first contact with Arundel Cooling and Heating the experience was top notch. The repair was scheduled swiftly and professionally. On the day of the repair, I was contacted by phone to let me know the technician was en route. Kenny arrived early, had a professional appearance, was exceptionally polite, competently performed the repair, and charged the agreed price. I should note that the price was over $1K LESS than an other Angies List "A" rated service provider. A first class experience from start to finish.

After I had purchased the deal, Jeannie (sp?) called me right away to schedule the service. They were very responsive in working around my schedule to service the heat pump. They showed up when they were scheduled and did a good job servicing. They also had me go through and fill out an energy audit to see where I possibly need to work on some problem areas. They were not pushy about getting the fixes done but were thorough in explaining what I could do to get it fixed.

It went well except that technician could not answer some of my technical questions about air flow at different levels in the house.

I guess my principal displeasure about the entire event is that a one year old furnace failed and it took a week to get the replacement part. A seemingly long cold week without a furnace. The principal problem is Rudd, but Arundel did not have a work around to suggest or a way to expedite the part. I will look for a Rudd dealer/service company in the future.

Heating system was resolved efficiently.

Easy to schedule the appointment, and they were prompt and courteous. He checked out our furnace, cleaned a few parts, and gave us some tips and advice for maintenance and what we could expect from our 15-year-old furnace. He was knowledgeable and efficient. He was also able to help diagnose an issue with the furnace, and the office called back as promised with a more thorough description of the problem and an estimate for how much a repair would be.

They were perfect, very professional from the schedulers, estimators to the technicians. Will use them every single time.

They were thorough, quick and professional. I had to adjust the time of my appointment the day before, and they were very accommodating.

It is a rental property I was not there, but I can estimate the time being an hour.

It was the first time I had used them. It went okay. They were kind of pricey, but responded fast and did a good job.

They seemed very knowledgable, I thought they gave us a good price and their customer service was very good. The office personell was very good, and overall it was a great experience!

I needed a new gas boiler as the other one was very old and I was afraid would die in the middle of winter. I had a great experience with this company. Quick return on both having someone come out to give a quote and to getting the work scheduled. Everyone involved was very knowledgeable and took time to explain options and recommendations for furnace size, and once it was installed to showing me everything and explaining the new boiler (as it's very different are much more efficient than the old one). They put contact numbers on the boiler itself for easy reference if I'd need to call and explained a lot of new options in radiators I can now use with the better boiler. The crew was very nice and respectful and cleaned everything up better than it was when they got there. I'd called them once before when the central a/c until wasn't working over the summer. Tech who came out got it started (apparently you need to clean them sometimes of grass clippings, oops) and didn't charge me since nothing was actually wrong with it. He even did extensive trouble shooting to make sure that was all it had been. Again, very nice, clearly knowledgeable, and took the time to explain everything to me. I can't say enough good things, I highly recommend them.
