Description of Work: I just moved into a 4 year old colonial house. I immediately found that there was inadequate air flow on the second floor. I searched Angie's List for a reputable HVAC company that could help. I called Arctic HVAC, an A-Rated company and a diagnostic technician, Miguel, came out at my convenience. He arrived on time, did an extensive inspection, adjusted dampers, and said he would need to call more associates to correct the problem. Miguel was professional, wore booties and inspected the entire attic crawl space while here. We went into the basement where he explained what he could do to divert more air to the 2nd floor. He did mention that the furnace was contractor grade and I should not go beyond my expectations for desired performance. I signed up for a 3 year maintenance contract and paid the 99.00 diagnostic fee. After 5 days, I realized that the fixes were not working, as Miguel said they may need more adjustment I called Arctic and immediately scheduled another appointment with Miguel and Jason, another experienced HVAC tech. who knew his stuff. They worked together for 3 hours to try and remedy the air flow problem. I was interested in purchasing a whole house air cleaner and humidifier. They told me my furnace was not equipped to handle those adjustments and recommended other alternatives. They did the fall maintenance check and continued to explore options that would correct the problem.One last option was to increase the air flow adjustment on the furnace which would hopefully improve air flow upstairs. They did that and scheduled another appointment with their supervisor to see if anything else could be done. They are coming back next week to complete that. On top of all that work, there was no charge for the call. And they waived the 99.00 diagnostic fee since I bought the contract. And, an hour after they left, the furnace came on, I went upstairs to check air flow, and BINGO, warm air was flowing freely and stongly. They appeared to fix the problem!! I will probably cancel next week's appointment as the problem appears to be fixed. Many thanks to Miguel and Jason for the extraordinary work they did at a nominal cost.

Description of Work: I contracted this company to install a complete air conditioning and heating system in my home. The job was completed in two days. I noticed during the installation that the installers had spilled something on the industrial carpet that in my utility room that houses my HVAC system and I pointed it out to the installers. After the system was installed I observed the spill still on the carpet and in addition scratches on the finish of my clothes dryer in the same room. There was also pieces of sheet metal on the dryer. It appeared that the sheet metal had scratched the dryer. I called the owner of Arctic Air and he came to my house and personally cleaned the carpet. I pointed out the pieces of sheet metal and the scratches on my clothes dryer. He then stated that he would have someone remove the scratches from the dryer. Some time passed and nothing was done about the scratches and after many calls to him, I contacted the Maryland Home Improvement Commission. The Representative at MHIC attempted to resolve the problem by a three way phone conference. During the conference the owner became verbally abusive. The conference call was ended and the MHIC Representative gave my the name and phone number of his insurance company. I filed a claim and the insurance company settled the claim by paying for the scratch removal.
