Technician mis-diagnosed my leaky basement problem that almost costed me $3,950 to repair the drain pipes that I did not need. It turned out it was my water heater that leaked. Full story: I had a leaky basement problem near an interior wall in my utility room. It looked like the water came from the base plate of that interior wall. I called several highly rated Water proofing companies on Angieslist including AA Action WaterProofing. The scheduling and communication was all good. AA technician came out promptly and seemed very knowledgeable about their water proofing process. Showed me pictures of past jobs. He was also very personable. He visually inspected the problem area and walked around the outside the house. He diagnosed that I had hydrostatic pressure problem from underneath the slab and now water found the way through cracks or nail/screw holes under the base plate of the interior wall. He said that even though I already had a drainage system and sump pump, it might not be even working now because it was a builder's grade and might be clogged somewhere. It sounded very reasonable and agreed with my initial findings. He did nothing to confirm the diagnose however, only visual inspection. He proceeded to tell me that I would need to replace the the sump pump, dig out and replace the old drain pipes with new pipes for the area surrounding the problem area. The total cost would be $3,950 and guaranteed to solve my problem. He also advised that if I wanted trouble free for years to come, I should replace the whole system. The PROBLEM is another water proofing company came out and found out that it was my water heater that slowly leaked into the base plate and basement floor. That technician ruled out the hydrostatic pressure issue by drilling a hole in the problem area and found no water coming up from underneath floor. Bottom line: Always have multiple people/companies look at your problem. Do not trust the first company you run into even though it's highly rated. Would AA Action WaterProofing do a great job of water proofing? By the glowing reviews here, I would give them the benefit of doubt and say Yes Did they diagnose the correct issue I had? Definitely NO. If I were to go with them, I still then had to shell out for a couple grand for my water heater replacement. Beware. Steve came out and did a thorough inspection of my house inside and out. It was perfect timing that when I called to get the sump pump and battery inspected, it went out on me the day before they were scheduled to come. Steve inspected the unit and was able to schedule me in for a replacement that same week. The installers came and had the new pump and battery set up in a couple of hours. Everyone was professional and courteous.

We moved into a new home and discovered water infiltration issues in the basement that were hidden during the home inspection. After several estimates from a number of providers, we went with Action for a number of reasons: There price was slightly better than their competitors for the same work, we liked their system better, and because we had the work done over the holidays, they gave us a discount. We live in a rural area, and they still managed to make it to the work site every day within the time frame they gave, something we appreciated and that rarely happens with contractors we've used. The crew worked their backsides off and cleaned up after themselves every day. When we had questions, they explained what they were doing and why. They took care not to damage the radon remediation system in the basement, and covered all our belongings (we had moved them into the center of the basement when we moved in, but we were told that they would have moved heavy stuff if it was next to the walls) to protect them from dust and debris. There was a problem on the last day that was resolved promptly to our satisfaction. In a nutshell, we had two sump pumps installed as part of the system, both with battery backup. As the crew was leaving, I asked where the main pumps were wired into the electrical, and they said they didn't do that, I'd have to hire an electrician. Well, I wasn't pleased, because that cost would have negated the discount we received, and actually priced them a bit higher than a competitor. We were never told that we would have to do that, and it wasn't in the contract. Action took care of this immediately, arranged for an electrician to come out and hard wire the pumps. There was also a defective marine batter in one of the back up pumps, and they sent a fellow out to check the system and replace the battery. I would definitely use them again. Good work, lifetime warranty, responsive to issues that arise. The only thing I would advise is to check the contract carefully and make sure that everything is properly disclosed.

The gentleman looked over my problem and gave me advice that I am unable to followup on, i.e., ripping out a newly installed floor and encapsulating the crawl space. I will ventilate it instead.

AA Action's Robert Chicherio was the onsite rep. Wow--what a font of information and helpfulness in looking at our structures such as foundation walls, joist spots, sump pump, pointing out weak points both in the intake/exit pipes-n-valves, maintenance of the basin/keeping it dirt-free, along with pointers on air flow in our basement, insulation, and optimum humidity to aim for. Robert took his time with me and responded thoroughly to my many questions. I did not at all feel pressured to purchase further services from AA Action though--as my sump pump and adjacent structures are aging--I plan to keep AA Action at the top of my list based on this initial contact as I was impressed by the demeanor, knowledge, and openness of their representative Robert Chicherio.

They arrived on time and started the remediation of mold. I had to let the air scrubbing machine run most of the day and night. They set up containment to keep everything contained in the area where they worked. Did follow up testing to make sure no mold was present. All testing came back negative ( no signs of mold). Job well done. We are now MOLD FREE.

Robert was very knowledgeable about the causes of the cracks and water related problems. He took the necessary time to explain everything and provide multiple fixes. After the appointment, he provided a thorough report that covered everything he spoke about.

It was impressive. First a guy came out to inspect the foundation and found no problems! I am used to inspectors finding problems just to pay their salary. Two weeks later another guy came out to inspect the sump pumps by pouring water into the sumps. One of the sumps was full of rocks so he cleaned it out. That in itself was a lot of work. If he charged three times as much, it would have been worth it.

It was fine but I have issues with the the financial company which provides me with services. I was paying everything on time but one Friday they didn't turn up.

The job went really well. They set up containment and kept everything really clean. The basement was waterproofed. Everything is dry and mold free. AA Action really paid attention to every detail of the job.

Laura Gratton came out the same day I called. She was courteous, professional and honest about what needed to be done. She kept me updated at least once a day most of the time more than once a day. She explained step by step what needed to be done and and explained how it was going to be done. My questions were answered thoroughly. I would recommend AA Action to all who suspect they have a problem with mold.

Gerry called ahead and arrived early for the appointment, which was better for my schedule. He listened to my concerns--ensuring I don't have water problems when I finish my basement--and basically said I shouldn't have a problem given my current system. He also discussed sump pump alternatives. I concluded that I don't need work done now, but based on Gerry's honesty and professionalism I will call AA Action Waterproofing when I do need work done.

I was totally satisfied with them. They did a great job. They were very professional and prompt. He explained everything he was doing.

They came out and we had a very pleasant visit. unfortunately they were unable to do the work. They even followed up the next morning to let me know that I should get a refund on the inspection.

Technician was courteous, professional, thorough. He was knowledgeable, provided very cost effective remedies and answered all of my questions.

There was a misunderstanding with the Big Deal, it was for inspection only.

This was my very first Angie's list purchase and I was a little hesitant because I bought the $49 deal and I thought I was going to get what I paid for. I was pleasantly surprised! Rhonda at customer service who made my appointment was friendly and polite. Robert C. came out to figure out why the carpet in my basement was soaking wet. He spent an hour and a half walking on the outside of the house and digging around inside my utility room to try to figure out what the problem was. It turned out it was not a foundation leak or plumbing issue or even water coming down via the radon pipe but it was a clog in one of our whole house humidifiers that was spewing out water at an incredible rate! So thankful for his thorough inspection and recommendations. So thankful that he took the time to figure out what the problem was. This was not an easy thing to figure out. I will absolutely do business with them again. Highly recommend this company!

Everything went really great. This was a large project. We needed an interior system with sump pumps and exterior work to be done to fix the foundation problems. This company is very well organized. We needed a generator brought to the job site because the home was vacant and had no power. I must say their planning really made this job go smooth. The basement was gutted. All of the old drywall that had mold on it was removed and disposed of . The crew worked really hard and kept the job site clean. The interior system was put in and they excavated on the outside to seal a couple of cracks. The work was done a few months ago and the basement is dry and clean. I have a few other properties and if they need waterproofing I will definitely use this company again.

Field inspector was Mr. Last, and he walked the property, surveyed potential solutions. I was most impressed by his professionalism and willingness to be very thorough. I would call this company again!!

Representative very knowledge of waterproofing. Provided options for repair. Was very patient and clear in explanations of the problem.

I called A A Action Waterproofing to come out and take a look at my current sump pump situation and offer suggestions for replacement and for back-up systems. Paul showed up on time and was very honest with us from the start about what would make the most sense for our house. He didn't try to sell me on anything and gave great advice on our options. Paul certainly knows what he's doing and it is also very reassuring to see that there are still contractors out there who want to geniunely help their customers and not just sell them on their products. He told us that we can get our own back-up by buying a generator which would be less costly and more effective for what we need. We are currently looking into the generator as Paul had suggested and not doing anything super costly.
