We asked him to come back and fix the problems 1. The beams were two different colors 2. One of the beams was not long enough so he cut a small piece of wood and wedged it in the top. 3. There is nothing holding the side rails up, they are falling down 4. The wood used was placed where the blue stamp on the wood is facing out He said he would return 300.00 to us plus come out and fix the problems after he completed a job he was working on (he said it would be 3 days....that was over a month ago) He will not return my calls or messages either. I will not be using this contractor or Angie's list again!

Mr. Ray Knott arrived for a consult within 4 days of my initial call. He promised a price in 6 days, called after 3 with a couple questions, and the estimate arrived as promised. The price was much better than other companies that were pushing their "better" materials (vinyl decking/rails, etc) and 'better' installation (screws, not nailed, etc). Ray priced exactly what I was looking for, made suggestions for things that would meet MY needs better, and agreeably worked up prices for some changes I thought of after the initial consult. When asked when he could start, he very honestly told me 'right away, or about a month from now', as he was scheduled to start a big job the next week. They arrived when scheduled, reviewed with me and the workers what was to be done, and then worked great. The crew was polite and friendly, but never interfered with me on the days I was home. Ray kept me apprised of what was done, and still to be done, and cheerily added the doggie door, steps, etc, that I added as the job went on. When I discussed the ceiling I wanted, he had not originally understood what I wanted, so added it, charging me only for the materials. I was provided with a written itemized receipt for the additional work and materials added over the original estimate. We had just had a new pool installed and the deck had to be raised and expanded to fit it. They finished this the first day and made sure we had access. They even came on Saturday morning to lay the top decking, so we would have safe access to the pool and deck for Father's day on Sunday. In addition to the pool deck, the job included building a new deck to join 2 existing decks, adding a screen room with a A roof on one end, and steps down to the yard on the other. He decided to add new top rails to the existing decks to improve the look of the finished project. The finished job is awesome, exactly what we wanted. The quality is great, and they cleaned up beautifully when they were done. I have already had Ray back to look at another smaller job we want done.
