The owner was extremely responsive and helpful.

It turned out well. His crew was very professional and they worked really, really hard and I thought they did a lot of work for the amount of time they were here. We ended up signing a minutes contract with them.

Mulberry Bush Landscapes had offered 8 hours of gardening for $299 as an Angies List Deal, a very attractive price. The owner called promptly to set a date for the service. Three men, the supervisor Jonathan and two experienced workers, arrived on the date specified and worked a generous total of 8 hours. I had prepared a list of tasks, including removing a bed of ivy, digging a new border, planting items that had grown in containers on the deck all summer and relocating some shrubs to areas they might find more nourishing. Unfortunately a deluge of leaves required raking and bagging which took a lot of time I'd hoped could be applied to other tasks. However they worked efficiently and did a great job on all of the tasks they were able to accomplish. I plan to call them in the future to schedule some additional work when I'm able to budget for it. On the basis of the work they did, I would certainly recommend them to a friend or neighbor.

It was difficult getting a time set for the service to be provided and then the landscapers/workers showed up on a Saturday morning at 8 am with no notification. The owner never performed the "analysis" which was part of the deal. All in all the work was done well and to my onsite specifications.

My experience was okay. The owner seemed a little rude and they left a mess in our yard after the work was done. They also came back the next day to pick up the mess and then knocked on my door and asked for additional charges since they picked up the mess. The work itself was fine and I was satisfied and I thought the workers were nice as well.

I contacted Mulberry Landscape several times over several days. I finally received a call back from Joe Gibbs who requested specific details of the job. I measured the area in the front of our house and took several pictures. I sent the pictures and a detailed description of the work we wanted, which was to remove the dead shrubs in front of the house and replace them with 6 or 8 new shrubs. The total space measured 8 ft by 2 ft on each side of the front steps. When I didn't hear from Mr. Gibbs after a week I called him. He didn't remember talking with me and said he hadn't seen my email. I resent the information and called him back. He acknowledged getting the email and promised to look over the information and get back to me. Another week went by and I called him again but he was too busy to talk but said he would come over on a Friday afternoon to look at the area. He did not come. I waited a few days and called him again. This time he did come to our house. He said the $299 was not nearly enough to cover even the removal of the 6 dead shrubs let alone providing new ones. He also said he had many big jobs to do and that it was hard for him to schedule little jobs like mine. I agreed to pay the extra money for the new shrubs and he said he would call me when he could start. I have not heard from him. Can I get my money back?????????????????

Punctuality was lacking. For the first visit for my home they showed at the wrong house (they showed up at my mother's home in the morning instead of my home) but came an hour and a half later to the correct home once they called and realized their mistake. For my own home, they sent four men (only one spoke English) and the leader of the crew was in the front of the house while the other men were in the back of the house not being watched. They trimmed more trees than I had asked them to do and ended up trimming my 15 year old blue spruce all the way up from the bottom leaving only the top branches (they were not instructed to touch that tree) and now it looks like a tall bush! They did a beautiful job on my Japanese Maple in the front of the house (the gentleman in charge did that tree) and brought all of the trimmings and branches and left them on my front lawn for 3 days. They told me it would be an additional $350 charge to haul away the debris and someone would be there the next day. Three days later after calling the office they came and got it. In addition it cost an additional $850 (which included the $350 for hauling) they say for additional man hours. For the second home, the supervisor left after and hour or so and left the crew with no one speaking english. They didn't finish all of the items on the job but I couldn't communicate with anyone to let them know. The supervisor was supoose to come back shortly (I waited 2 hours for him). The workers were just sitting waiting for him after they finished for many hours. Upon reporting this to the owner, he apologized but kept trying to sell me a Maintenance package for $2500. He sent me a bill 2 months later for an additional $850 for the work stating they had worked over the coupon hours. He never discussed this with me at the time of service nor were all of the men working. Many of them were sitting waiting for him to pick them up.He waived the $500 after speaking with me and I paid the $350 hauling fee. The owner and his foreman have a great knowledge of plants and landscaping however, the lack of organization, punctuality and oversight of their crew is severely lacking! Would not recommend them.

They were great. The manager came with the crew and I ran him through what was required. He was very professional and he communicated well. He had the crew do the work and they did it in less time than they said they were going to do it, and the bill wasn't higher than it was said to be. He came back and checked to make sure everything was done right and it was done very professionally. I liked the manager, he seemed very professional to me. They came out late October and I wasn't charged anything extra.

I got eight man hours of any landscaping work I wanted for $399, so four of them ended up working at the same time for two hours, including the owner. I wasn't quite sure what I wanted, apart from trimming the bushes, planting fall flowers, and putting new mulch down, but the owner ended up designing the flower beds for me and switching some bushes and plants around, and the end design turned out very, very well. Everyone worked so hard, even though it was sweltering, and they were eager to please me. I would definitely hire this company again as I was very happy with the results.

They pruned and cleaned up my yard. They charged an extra $350 to haul away debris and an extra $500 because they charge by the man hour and they sent 4 men so in turn the purchased coupon was only good for two hours. |They trimmed all of the lower branches of a blue spruce (which they were not suppose to touch) so now it looks like a tall bush. |However they (Jon) did a great job on my Japanese Maple. Would not have them come back again.

They were good. I would consider using them again in the future. They were very knowledgeable and very polite.

I bought a deal from Angie's List to use this company. I had a hard time getting in touch with the contact person. I had to call and email numerous times to connect with someone. The person with whom I worked was Joe Gibbs. Prior to our initial meeting, I sent him pictures and dimensions of my yard and a list of the work I wanted done. When he did arrive he was courteous and took the time to discuss in detail what I wanted done. He agreed he could do the work. He made several suggestions during the course of the work, to which I agreed. He went with me to pick out evergreens I wanted planted and other materials necessary to complete the job. the amount of stone he told me to buy was not enough for the intended purpose and he did not pick out sand to fill in between the bricks. The crew did some, but not all of the work I requested. The biggest thing they did not do, which Joe had agreed to do, was to put down sand between cracks in brick work in my front and back yard. He told me he could weed the area and put down the sand in one day. The other things they did not do were to dig all the holes and finish putting down the mulch. He told me I could get a friend of mine to finish digging the holes, get more stone and put down the remainder of the mulch. I said ok, which was my mistake, I was not happy about it then and regret in now. One of his crew took my shovel when they left. I phoned and asked that the work be completed and the shovel returned. I was told that someone would call me back and someone would come out to finish the job and return the shovel in 2 days time. No one called back and no one showed up. I sent two follow up emails asking that the work be completed and the shovel returned. I did not hear back from anyone. After that, I called during business hours and got a message to call back later. The edging that they did was not sharp. Even though I told Joe ahead of time I wanted the back yard edged, the crew showed up without an edger and used shears to cut the grass next to the brickwork. It did not look like a professional job. I had asked that a plant be de-headed. Joe told me what had to be done, did a little of it and then I agreed to do the rest. I got the feeling that he wasn't interested in doing that job. I found this experience extremely frustrating and disappointing. I would say stay away from this company.

Services included general landscaping and trimming of bushes, cleanup of garden and yard. They brought in a team and truck as promised and performed the requested tasks efficiently and effectively. So much so that we negotiated additional time to finish the job, beyond the initial 8 hours. The stake body truck cost was about 300 and it was full when it left. The additional hours was at 50 a man. Overall I was extremely happy with the work completed, I would use them again and have no problem recommending them.

The crew arrived late because they went to the wrong address. Let me get this straight the guy in charge of the crew was a great kid but he had 3 laborers that couldn't speak English and it seemed he had just picked them up from the day laborer line. I stayed with them all the time and did some yard work myself while directing them as to what I wanted done. |I would never use this company unless I was there all the time telling them what I wanted done. They did what I wanted, but it wasn't as if I could tell them what I wanted and just leave them alone. The laborers had no comprehension of what to do and had to be shown every step.

There were a few delays due to weather. No fault of the contractor. The crew that performed the service worked hard and did a good job. I would use them again.

Workers for punctual, professional, and worked very very fast. So fast that they finished in a half-hour what I expected them to do in an hour and a half so I had to go out and buy more bushes for them to plant. Actually I called the company again about a month and a half later to regrade all around the house.

I purchased a big deal from Angie's List and their services turned out fine. I did not pay anything extra other than the big deal purchase. With the discount their price was an "A." They did a very good job.

Very responsive and professional in their work. One could quickly tell that these folks knew what they were doing!! A plus all around.

I purchased an Angie's Deal with the hopes of getting some progress done on some yard projects. Not completed, just started. It was incredibly hard to initially make the appt. I was called very late in the evenings. Also, my email with further questions and descriptions was ignored. The day of the appt., the owner and team did show up promptly and were good about notifying me of their schedule. They spent 8 hours doing some trimming and leaf blowing. Overall, I felt it was not worth the money spent though. They showed up with limited tools and I was constantly being pressured to sign up for a maintenance program worth $2500 instead of addressing my specific requests. Unfortunately, would not use this company again.

The owner of Mulberry Bush Landscaping, Joe Gibbs, is very personable & accommodating. His employees arrived as scheduled & worked very hard to ensure that I was pleased with the jobs that they were doing, e.g., they asked me to approve the trenches BEFORE they filled them in with mulch. The staff, including Mr. Gibbs, helped me rake some of my leaves & carted away the excess soil from digging the trenches. They cleaned-up everything after completing their work, making certain that they didn't remove the leftover supplies & the tools that were mine. I was very pleased with their work & appreciated the additional recommendations for improving my landscaping that Mr. Gibbs provided to me. I definitely would highly recommend Mulberry Bush Landscaping & utilize their services in the future.

The deal was purchased on September 18, 2013. First, I never received a call within the rapid connect deal time. Unfortunately, I reached out twice to service provider within 2 weeks to set up an appointment, however, I never receive a returned called after speaking with Mr. Gibbs both times and being informed I would receive a call back later that day. Every time I sent and email I would have to remind them of who I was and why I was calling. In addition, all I kept being told was that they were overwhelmed with this current deal and they were "swamped". In addition Mr. Gibbs stated that with them being out in Silver Spring it was difficult for them to get out to Alexandria. Finally Mr. Gibbs scheduled a time to come out to view the property. That evening he called and said his last appointment went over by an hour, and it was late and he would send an email later that day or next day to reschedule. Which was fine as I was about 15 minutes away from home. However that date was 10/22/13 and up to today I never received a call back from Mr. Gibbs. I sent him an email today to f/u and I was informed he would contact me. When Mr. Gibbs called me back he again was disorganized and I had to update him on why I was following up with him. Mr. Gibbs is certainly a a nice gentleman and was never mean or rude throughout our conversations, however, this back and forth is not worth the deal at this point.

It has been a very frustrating experience, to say the least. Mr. Gibbs only response to my email was a simple acknowledgement of receipt, and our phone conversations indicate to me he has little recall of any previous discussion or emails I sent. He has been very difficult to reach via phone (his voice mail inbox is full) and given that he had not viewed the site or provided me with a work plan as of 4 Nov, I told him we needed to reschedule the planned 6 Nov work date. At this point, I believe I will have to write off the $299 as a valuable lesson to not rely solely on the recommendation of Angie's List, as I have no confidence Mr. Gibbs will follow through on his commitment.

The provider responded as directed, arrived on time, and performed the above functions quickly and efficiently.

I live in a small end-unit townhome to which an elevated deck was recently added. The deck takes up most of the backyard area now. The appointment with landscape design owner Joe Gibb was originally set for 9/30/13 and rescheduled twice, first to 10/14, and then to 10/22 because his schedule was too full; however this was ok because of the gov't shutdown. The 10/22 appointment for the landscaper to come and look around went well. He suggested that even though it would use all of the coupon, that I should spend a couple of hours with his landscape designer who could provide recommendations for a makeover of the backyard that would maximize the limited amount of space and address land layout (slopes), drainage and storage issues. The landscape designer never called and after leaving several messages with the owner and calling him again today, he wanted me to send him a land platt with the deck in it so he could make a drawing and forward it to the landscape designer who would then add plants to it. He didn't take measurements of my yard on 10/22 and wanted me also to measure yard space on the side of the house and email it to him. This is not what we discussed.

The work was done promptly, professionally and within a shorter timeframe then expected. The crew and the owner were also very cordial. Thanks for a job well done!
