MINNICKS

The process last year from the start to finish was long and tiring but completed. They installed heat pump , air handler , insulation and exhaust fan . After one year I have a complaint . They installed two bathroom exhaust fans. I notice they are exhausted in the attic which is a residential violation code. I called them last week and they send a tech to take pictures. Will update on progress

In 2017, I contracted with Ecobeco via Pepco because the 2nd floor rooms were hotter than the rest of the house, costing me greater A/C expenses. I worked with them on an energy audit to the upstairs bedrooms, removal of the acoustic ceiling tile in one room, addition/improvement of insulation, sealing in kneewalls, installation of new ceiling, insulation in the basement, and a follow-up energy audit. The auditor was very prompt and friendly but the workers didn't do an good job. The contractor was flaky. The HVAC crew were sloppy. The drywall installer/carpenter did a low-grade job by using low grade wood for the knee wall doors, and he set the ceiling inappropriately for house settling (now there are cracks between ceiling and walls). The energy audit following the work showed improvement but I'll need additional solutions to get the house to a more efficient state. I shared my disappointment with them and in 2018 they refinished cracking drywall ceiling without charge and replaced the doors - still not quality. In 2019, Ecobeco were bought by Minnick's, with whom in 2019 I scheduled an estimate for additional HVAC solutions for the upstairs (didn't know they had bought Ecobeco until the estimate discussion). Minnick's jerked me around, never gave a complete estimate (I had to keep asking if it included what we discussed and what the rebate would look like if I selected work covered by the rebate) and the estimate was exponentially more pricey than others and they proposed a solution that wouldn't solve the problem. I wouldn't recommend them at all.

The technician determined that we required a new furnace so we decided to have the air-conditioning unit replaced at the same time. Another person from the company was suppose to come out the next day and give us some quotes. Two days passed and not a word from the company. It was in the 30's and we had no heat in the house!! We gave up and called another company.

They were able to schedule us the next day (we did not have an emergency), so I thought that was excellent, given that another company was scheduling more than a month ahead (!) for the same sort of thing. The technician fixed a leaking humidifier attached to our heat pump, and also leveled the outdoor unit (compressor). I appreciate their service, as it has extended the life of our unit, hopefully for a few years longer. The technician was very knowledgeable and professional, yet he was never condescending to me (a female); I greatly appreciate that. He communicated his findings and his plan of action very well. He seemed thoughtful of the cost of repairs. I appreciate that he didn't try to sell us a new system right now. The tech needed to order a part and come back to install it. We pre-scheduled an appointment assuming that the part would be in before the appointment. The part did not arrive, so they called me one day ahead and let me know that the part had not arrived as expected. So we rescheduled the appointment for the next day. They gave me a 4-hour window for each appointment, and they sent out emails letting me know exactly when the tech was leaving. The tech was always right on time, and early within the time window allotted. Their communication was excellent. Based on this visit, I will definitely call them again, especially when I need that new system. I also asked if they do plumbing, and they do. So I will also call them if I need any plumbing work.

Prior owner put it in a new AC system last summer, which wasn't working well this summer. Minnicks was the original installer, so I called them to check out the issue. They were able to come out the next day, diagnose the problem, and order the repair parts. They also covered it under the original warranty, even though it was slightly out of the 1-year warranty window. They also provided me with a window AC unit until the repairs could be made. Great communication and professional workers.

hired Minnicks to inspect my gas boiler which was not coming on and shutting off under the thermostatic control. Advised of this ahead of their visit, the technician who was knowledgeable, was quick to prescribe replacing my thermostat - the price for which $325 seemed a bit high to me. I asked him to inspect the main boiler unit and the rest of the components of the heating system. He tested the water pressure and he inspected the heat exchangers but did not go far enough with his diagnostic evaluation. A few days later, the pressure relief valve on my boiler actuated and stayed stuck in the open position causing some flooding in my basement. Another company came out to repair the boiler identifying a faulty relay as the cause of the problem. I paid $400 + for the correct diagnosis and installation of new relay. I paid $268 for the inspection by Minnicks that literally solved nothing (I replaced the thermostat myself before the flooding incident).

I called Saturday night about 7:30pm and they came Sunday morning about 8:30 am to repair my unit. Everyone I interacted with was courteous, pleasant, and professional.

Excellent. Minnicks is very progressive in using the new tools available for reliable service. The technician arrived on time and explained everything before he started. When finished he reviewed all that was performed.

The technician came charged me for his visit and told me he will get hold of the warranty department and get the valve that needs to be replaced. Later on, he contacted me and told me that regardless of how long it would take him to replace the valve he will charge $770 flat rate. I googled this job and it takes 30min to an hour. Waste of time and money!

They are quick in what they do and they explain things as they are going through. If there is something that you don’t know what they are talking about, they will explain in a way that we can understand. Yes, I would use them again.

They check twice a year. I think the price is reasonable.

I like the fact that they give us a name ahead of time so that we can make sure that the person who shows up is the person they send. I like their professionalism in explaining things to us if there needs to be explained. They are quick and efficient in what they do. They clean up if they made any kind of mess of any sort, which they have never done. They wear their slippers and they make sure everything is back to the way it was when they came. We are very very pleased with Minnicks. Yes, I would use them again.

Yes, I would use them again. We have been pleased with everything they have done. They are true to their word of what is right or wrong with your system or whatever. They don’t fabricate anything, everything is the way it is supposed to be.

It went very well. They showed knowledge and expertise in analyzing the problem and finding a solution. They were punctual and worked steadily until the job was done.

When I bought my furnace and air conditioner, I got a service contract for 10 years where I wouldn't have to pay anything in the spring and the fall for them to come out. So, I don't pay for them to visit. I think they regret the deal. It's about 8 years old now. Everything's an "A" with them. They're great. One person came to complete the service. They're usually here half an hour/45 minutes. They know what they're doing and I don't. They've been around a long time. The're responsive and they have technical ability.

It was a very professional installation. Afterwards, the furnace returned to normal operation without cutting out when on high output. The airflow of the house improved and the temperature remained more constant. The house felt much better than before the work was done. The more extensive testing during routine maintenance means their service is more expensive than some others.

With our old system, our upstairs would always be hot and muggy and now it feels great. Steven and Anthony were the techs on my job and they we very professional and neat. This was a two day project and every day they arrived on time and would leave the house neater than they found it. They literally show up to your door with their own floor mat lay it down and stand on it while they put on shoe protectors. They also coordinated with another company to remove my old oil tank at no cost (just the remaining oil) – I am glad to get rid of that. Before this project, I used them to get a new hot water (converting from oil to electric) that was also a great experience. All of this ran me about 15K but it was a big job and the new unit is highly efficient.

The HVAC system was professionally installed. The technicians were very competent and courteous. The cost was much better than the competitors.

Installers arrived on time. Covered carpet with plastic. Removed old heater and installed new heater with new piping and cut off handle. Clean up to my satisfaction and job done in a timely fashion.

Greg arrived on time, was very knowledgeable and courteous. He replaced the capacitor and gave me a written list of recommendations (very helpful). He did the work the first week in January and I had no problems with my heat pump this winter.

Minnicks is simply the best for heating & cooling service and installation. These guys are really well trained, including following the latest standards and certifications (I once took a furnace class at community college, so I notice if a technician is well trained and knowledgeable.) Minnicks technicians have corrected several installation errors made by the previous company that installed my HVAC system. My furnace and AC are now operating more efficiently, like they should have from the beginning. These guys are simply the best around the central Maryland area from Montgomery County to Howard County areas they focus on.
