Metropolitan Moving & Storage

Called them at the last minute to get some assistance moving furniture from a storage unit to an apartment we'd just rented. They squeezed us in just several days later. They were very much in contact via phone in advance, and were even available earlier in the day than expected. The two gentlemen who moved our things were very considerate of our belongings and asked us what we wanted moved (and were patient with us as my husband and I decided on certain things).

After reading so many positive reviews on Angie's List I contacted Metropolitan Moving and Storage through their website. Almost instantly someone from their office called me and scheduled a free estimate. The estimator, Edward Zaslav, was polite and thorough. Although the estimate was a little more expensive than some of to the others I received, I went with Metropolitan based on their high marks on Angie's List. On the move day, the crew showed up ten minutes early and immediately got to work. The movers were very careful but also very efficient. The work was completed in fewer hours than expected and I paid a couple hundred dollars less than Edward had estimated.

It took too long for the quote so I had already accepted another.

They were outstanding. This is the 2nd time we have used them. We could not be happier. THey were on time, efficient, and knew what they were doing. We had no damange and it was flawless.

Leader and crew were subperb. Worked very hard and were very professional. A little more pricey than other companies, but they delivered great service in every area, and it was well worth spending a little more. I think they provided a better value for the money spent, than other companies would likely have done for less cost.

We were very pleased with this company. We got a very good rate because they were running a fall special which I believe was $99 an hour. Three men showed up and worked very hard to move us quickly and efficiently. They did not damage anything and we were very pleased. We would definitely use them again.

It went extremely fast and was well done. Metropolitan packed the furnishings from a 3,200 sq ft home in about 4 hours.

They were qualified movers but they underestimated the time.

The service was good. There was a mixup but they took care of it and did not charge any extra.

Our estimator, Eddie, was prompt and very accurate. Our move total was approximatly $100 less the the estimate. Eddie and the office support staff were very helpful. We received a free box delivery so that we could get packed and be prepared on moving day. The office was able to accommodate a move date change close to moving day. The move was amazing. The men and truck arrived on time. They were friendly and worked very hard. They wrapped our belongings in quilt pads and other materials to ensure safe delivery. We have moved several times over the last 10 years and this move was the best by far. Our stuff arrived in tact and we were able to enjoy dinner in our new home that same day. If you are looking for a mover that is honest, responsive, and hard working Metropolitan Moving and Storage is for you.

They were very nice, but there was a mix-up for our initial estimate. He was going to come and show up on a particular day, but he did not arrive that day. When I called, there was a mix-up. Whenever he did show up, he had to call because he actually did not have my address right. I had to give him my address, and he was a little late that day as well. That is why I decided not to go with them. When he was here, he was very nice and professional. Their responsiveness was perfect. Their estimate was actually $1000 cheaper than the other two, but I did not feel comfortable because of how confused they were about scheduling dates and where I lived; all those things are important in terms of a moving company I suppose. It might have just been a fluke experience - an isolated incident. However, I would not use them in the future.

The experience was excellent and professional. A member of the moving team came to our home and provided an in-person estimate, which was actually more than the final cost (the final cost was less than the estimate!). The moving team showed up on-time, padded all items very well, asked what we needed help with and listened to what we said. The entire move was very easy and worthwhile...everything went as well as we could have imagined (nothing broke, and they accomplished the move very quickly). When we arrived at our new location, the movers unwrapped all of our items, placed them in the appopriate room, and ensured that everything was satisfactory before leaving. I highly recommend Metropolitan Moving and Storage!

These guys were amazing! We are in the process of selling our mom's house so furniture was going to FOUR different locations within the metro area. They organized the move perfectly! They were extremely professional and careful with our belongings. Everything was wrapped appropriately including the items going into a storage facility which were paper-wrapped before being wrapped in plastic

They are very responsive, dedicated and professional and did good quality work. The workers were courteous and careful.

Honest, ethical, thorough. They were prompt (actually a little early) and they worked non-stop until they were done. No goofing off or dwaddling. Didn't bang the furniture into any walls or doors that I observed. They were well organized, too. Had people on both floors - one to move out and send stuff up in the elevator, and the other to receive when the elevator arrived (I also had a person on each floor to supervise and direct the placement of the furniture). The building management gave me a dedicated elevator which the movers kept in constant use and was the bottleneck of the job, so absolutely no complaints there. I had already boxed up everything that needed boxing before the movers arrived, and I also had furniture disassemblers from a local furniture store there who had arrived a bit before these movers so everything was fast and efficient. Often there is something that goes wrong, and I judge a company more on how they resolve these problems than I do on the fact that problems occurred - and Metropolitan gets top scores on that. There was one piece of furniture - a wood lateral filing cabinet that they broke a leveling leg off as they tried to place it up against the other lateral file. They were very responsive and timely in resolving that problem. There was also some minor scuff marks on my linoleum floor as they moved the refrigerator into place and they cleaned that up as well. Additionally, after I signed the final paperwork and they left, I received a call from the company telling me they had made an addition error and had corrected it before they ran my credit card charge (the error was in their favor and they did not wait to see if I would catch it later since I hadn't caught it when I signed the final paperwork - kudos to them on that). Eddie, the estimator, came in right on track in his evaluation of the job, the amount of people and the time needed to get done within the time I had the elevator available to me. I had received estimates from others that were a lot lower, but they didn't seem right since I had moved from Bethesda to Rockville a few years ago and had all that office stuff plus a bit more to move so I had a good idea of how many people and the amount of hours to expect just to get the stuff out of one office and back in to another. As you can tell from my writeup, I am very pleased with Metropolitan.

They did a good job! They were thorough. Reasonably priced. We had no complaints and would recommend them to others.

Three well-mannered, very professional guys showed up on time (10 minutes late during a DC morning rush-hour definitely equals "on time"). They efficiently packed everything and loaded the truck within 50 minutes. They unloaded the truck in c. 30 minutes. The final price came in more than $200 under the estimate. I will recommend them to anyone who asks and would hire them again, hands down. Great job!

We were very happy overall with Metorpolitan. Eddie, the company representative was businesslike and detail oriented, which we appreciated. We did our own packing and had lots of boxes in addition to furniture. The moving crew was effcient and easy to work with and they were adept at handling the many tricky issues that are bound to come up with a move. Also, we found the company to be responsive to phone calls -- very important to customers during trying times! The whole move was relatively problem free and made our transition go much more smoothly.

The move went very well. The estimator came home and provided us with a low and high estimate and felt that we would probably end up paying closer to the low end of the quote based on his assessment. On the scheduled date, the movers arrived about half hour ahead and worked efficiently to load the truck. The were very careful in unloading all the boxes and furniture, making sure the hard-wood floors were covered with a rubbery matting and not brushing any items against the newly painted walls. Throughout the move, the crew was courteous and worked hard. When the final invoice was presented, it was slightly more than the high estimate that was provided in the quote. I made a note of this on their invoice and received a call the next day that they would send me a check for $25, even though I did not really ask for it. Overall, I am impressed with the service received and would certainly recommend Metropolitan.

The first truck arrived a little earlier than expected. The crew got right to work, and took about 4 hours to load both trucks. The unload took about 5 hours, then they took a few pieces of furniture to the old house for staging. We're very pleased. Downgrade: they promised to supply some boxes, and did not supply those boxes as early as promised although the boxes did arrive a couple of days before the move.

My fiance and I did our homework to find the best movers in the area, and these guys are as advertised. They arrived on time, took care of some packing that we didn't get to, and efficiently loaded the truck in what seemed to be effortless fashion. The move is currently on pace to fall just below the estimate. Prior to the move, the were very responsive, and even delivered some boxes in advance so we could take care of some packing on our own. As long as I'm in the DC area, these guys are my movers.

I too had found these guys on the Internet with positive reviews. We recently moved locally from a 3BR apartment to a single family home. We hired Metropolitan for both packing and moving. They did a great job with the actual work. The men who did the physical work were professional and efficient, and worked tirelessly. Everything arrived intact. The problem was with their account representative, a guy named Eddie Zaslav. Eddie came to provide an in-person quote. He was very confident in his quote, the number of men needed, and the hours it would take. When the work was finished, it took much longer and more materials than he figured, and the final cost came to be $600 more than the original estimate! I called three times to speak with Eddie, but never got a call back. But they did go ahead and charge my card! This is highly unprofessional conduct, and because of this, I do NOT recommend this company!
