Metropolitan Moving & Storage

Movers were ontime and worked very efficiently padding and shrink wrapping furniture. We were very impressed with how fast and careful they were. Movers arrived at the destination in the Philadelphia area, off loaded furniture and moved it into place.

I had a pretty easy move, since I wasn't moving a lot of furniture, just a few boxes. But they treated me like any other customer, sent two guys out to do the move, came in lower than the estimate, and were done in less than two hours. Fantastic experience, and I will use them again.

Very well. Movers arrived earlier than scheduled and worked very efficiently. Their drive to our new home was careful but punctual. Safe and secure load/unload. Would use them again.

Their 3 man team showed up early and didn't mind waiting until I got back from getting my morning coffee. All three very professional and friendly. They took great care to wrap out furniture up securely and to point out existing damages. The move was done faster than the estimate and the guys bent over backward during the move in to make sure our boxes and furniture were settled into the rooms we wanted. They even "moved" things around when we changed our minds about something. Cost was lower than estimate as well (they had the lowest estimate to begin with too.) Super happy with them.

It doesn't get much better. We have moved quite a bit and know what constitutes a good move and a bad move. This was an excellent move. From the very beginning, the process was easy, efficient, timely and completely professional. I submitted my request online and was called within the next hour or so the same day to schedule an appointment for an in-home estimate. Eddie, the estimator, was prompt for his appointment. He quickly provided us an estimate, and a basic summary of the company. He did not try to upsell us on anything. He simply presented the company and their methods and policies. On the day of the move, the movers arrived 30 minutes early and immediately starting working. Dave and his crew were professional, pleasant, and even funny. They handled everything with care and not one thing was broken! They also took the time to disassemble and re-assemblage our very large bed and desks properly (something the previous movers did not do). Their care and attention to detail was exceptional from start to finish. The icing on the cake -- the estimate fell approximately $400 under what we expected (a pleasant surprise). While I hope we don't have to move again soon, we will certainly call them again and we have recommended them to our friends in the DC area.

The move went off well. They were on time, and the price was on target. The move was completed in 4 hours start-to-finish. I have found only one glass -- a wine glass -- that was broken during the move, and I packed the box myself.

Moving is always difficult & stressful, but Metropolitan did a smooth job.

Move was quick, the team was polite and I was amazed at how quickly they worked. Having spent 2 summers in college as a mover, the process was well done. House is on market and plan to use them to move to new home.

Excellant experience. The company sent an estimator to my home who provided a detailed written estimate. Actual cost turned out to be much less. Crew showed up at the scheduled time and worked continuously to compete the move. I would not hesitate to use this company for a future move and I would not hesitate to recommend the company.

Metropolitan was fast, efficient, and careful. We received an estimate a couple weeks before our move. They came to the apartment to assess the job and provided an accurate estimate. On the day of the move, they arrived on time, and they had us packed up and moved in under 3 hours. It was amazing to watch! The team of 3 was very nice and very helpful. They took great care to ensure nothing was damaged. We highly recommend them.

Overall I was pleased with the professionalism of the estimator and the management team and many of the movers were just excellent. The quality of the lead movers was generally very good, and most of the rest of the 5 person teams were also great. They took care with our belongings and overall we had very little breakage. The little breakage we did experience, due to some poor packing, was covered. In general, they packed things VERY well and with copious amounts of paper, boxes etc. The breakage I believe was just an anomaly and again they handled that issue very professionally. We had two full trucks and they managed to pack in one day, and move and unload the second day and did it for right on the quoted price. We had a few issues we had to work out, but in the end, this was a big job and it went smoothly. Thanks!

I was extremely happy with their services. I decided to go with them not because they were the cheapest but because I felt like they had given the most "accurate" estimate of what it would really take to accomplish the move. The estimator was very clear that anyone else who wasn't quoting us that we'd need two trucks was probably lowballing us and he was right. We definitely filled half of that second truck on moving day. The guys showed up slightly early and hit the ground running. They walked around with me while I explained everything and were very careful with our belongings. They emptied our old house in record time and only stopped for drinks on the drive to the new house (i.e. they did not take an extended lunch break on our time). On the other end they unpacked quickly and made sure that everything was placed where I wanted it. They finished so much earlier than what had been estimated that I saved at least $800 over the estimate since they were being paid by the hour. I was so pleased with their work that I tipped the entire 5 man crew $60 each and still saved $500 over what I had been planning to spend based on the estimate. Unfortunately movers are not providers you use again and again, but based on the experience I have recommended them highly to others.

I called to receive an estimate on my then-upcoming move from Maryland to New York. I was asked all the right questions, including several I didn't even think of, and received a detailed estimate. Once I hired Metropolitan, Annie, who is a sweetheart, was super-responsive to my phone calls and questions, and if she did not know the answer, she would have someone who did call me right away. She's a super lady. On the day of the move, the two movers I was promised arrived on time, and were very professional and very good at what they do. I had no worries that any of my things would be damaged after watching these two gentlemen in action for a few minutes. My Maryland condo was emptied on a Saturday, but I was not moving into my new place until the next Thursday, which was no problem--even though Hurricane Sandy hit the East Coast in the interim. On the appointed Thursday, the same movers showed up before noon, which is impressive, given how messed up the traffic situation became after Sandy, and quickly and professionally moved my things into my new apartment. Everything was placed according to the label on the boxes--i.e., "kitchen" stuff went into the kitchen, "bedroom" stuff went into the bedroom, etc. These gentlemen were great, and needed little to no direction. They were also extremely courteous. Once the move was over, I was billed for the amount originally estimated, and not a penny more. It was worth every penny. I highly recommend Metropolitan Moving. I had to reorganize most of the house to accommodate furniture from a family member. The two men that came were incredibly competent, efficient and friendly. They even took my donation items to a local site for me at the end!

They moved over four hundred miles. They did an excellent job. They came in with the most reasonable price. The moving crew was exceptional. We had the same crew from pick up to drop off. We were veeerrry pleased.

I was extremely pleased with all of the components of the move from the beginning through the entire process. The administrative support was excellent, the job estimator provided what turned out to be an accurate final cost and there were enough movers to complete the job as promised.

Overall my experience with Metropolitan Moving was great. I have moved many times and almost every experience with other movers was pretty negative. Although this was one of my easier moves, I was impressed enough with Metropolitan's service that I would use them again and recommend them to others. I originally requested an online quote and did not hear back, but when I called a few days later both Robert and Ani couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. The pricing was competitive, mainly because they really do get the job done quickly. Although there are cheaper hourly rates out there, I would have easily ended up paying more with a less efficient team. They were also able to fit my move in that same week, which was a huge positive. The only glitch in my moving day was that the team arrived 1/2 hour late and I did not get a call. Because my storage unit was in a slightly dicey area, I'd specifically asked the day before if I'd get a call if the team was running late, and was assured that I would. As the move was set for 8:30am and Metropolitan's offices open at 9am, I sat there uncomfortably with no idea if my movers were going to show up or not (to make it worse I'd arrived early just in case they got there early, so I was sitting there for awhile.) Once I was able to reach the office by phone, they were very apologetic and responsive, and right about then the moving team showed up anyway. In the end it wasn't a big deal, and it wasn't the fact they were late that bothered me (we all understand about DC traffic!), in that moment I was just upset that the driver didn't call me to notify me of their delay. The team of three men got right to work and had my storage unit loaded into their truck more quickly than I could have imagined. They were friendly, hard-working and positive. As they moved my possessions into my new place, they were great about checking with me on each item to ensure everything ended up in the correct room. With things going upstairs, on the main floor, and into the basement, I was grateful that they took care to make sure I wouldn't have to move things up and down all those stairs myself later! I would have never believed they could have done the entire move in the four hours they projected, but they did. They kept smiles on their faces the entire time, despite being soaked in sweat from working so hard. It is very likely that I'll be moving again a year from now, and I will almost certainly call Metropolitan when the time comes.

The scheduler was wonderful, worked hard to get our project staffed on the date we needed, followed up in a timely way to make sure we understood our own needs and provided helpful tips in hat regard, and then gave us a quality controll job afterwards. The movers themselves arrived early, were verey professional, worked vigorously and with a plan and distinguished themselves with the care they showedfor our possessions and furnishings and the courtesy with which they did the work. The price was a value. Would use them again in a heartbeat and recommmend them to anyo

Three men arrived timely on 9/10/2012 for packing items into truck. Both the packing in DC and the delivery in Pittsburgh went very well. The company was on time in Pittsburgh and the three menMetropolitan provided were professional and very efficent. Overall an outstanding experience. This company is HIGHLY reommended! Move complete.

The estimate they gave me was off. They said that it is usually $100 under but mine was $100 over. I think that’s because they packed some boxes for me. They used my boxes and they had some boxes of their own. Some boxes were put in the wrong places and they’re still there because they’re too heavy for me to move. They moved me on short notice. I called them and they moved me the next week. I was okay with the price because it was short notice. They were supposed to call me back and tell me they could move me on that day; I ended up calling them three or four times. After the move was over, they never called me back to see how it went. He told me that was part of the moving process. They were there when they were supposed to be and they got to my new place right after me. My whole experience was good and bad. I had four or five movers and only one was bad. He didn’t want to do anything and he peed on my floor four times. He peed on the floor in four of my bathrooms; it was as if it was intentional. I said something to the foreman about it and he blew it off. I had to clean it up. If he wasn’t there, they probably would have gotten an A completely. I would never use them again because of that person. The majority of the men were polite, nice, and friendly.

We called a couple of weeks in advance to get an estimate for our move. A rep. came out to our house, did a walk through, and estimated the time and cost of the move. He said it would take around 10 hours at a cost of $2300.00. That seemed reasonable, so we hired them. Our move was scheduled for 9:00 AM on Friday 8/24. Jorge and his crew showed up on time and had the house packed up in about 4 hours. I met them at the new house in Frederick. They emptied the two 26' trucks and were done within the 10 hours estimated. With the exception of a couple of wine glasses, all of our stuff made the journey unscathed.

Metropolitan provided us with the lowest of three quotes, but there was absolutely no sacrifice on quality of service. They showed up early, and got to work immediately. They were incredibly mindful of our furniture and both the house we were moving from and the house we were moving into - nothing was broken or damaged (with the exception of one item in a box that we had packed poorly). Because they finished early and didn't use all the supplies that were included in the initial quote, we were refunded the difference pretty much on the spot! Our move went better than we possibly could have anticipated. Thank you Metropolitan!

My husband got them on Angie’s list. They actually came to our house in person to hand us the estimate instead of over the phone. We would absolutely recommend them to friends and family members. They were very accommodating and very patient. They were very helpful and went out of their way.
