Metropolitan Moving & Storage

When all was finished, we found someboxes clearly in the wrong rooms, like boxes marked "study" in the kitchen and so forth. Many boxes had been in a storage facility and they were marked like this: kitchen. STORAGE or living room STORAGE, bedroom STORAGE. So all of those boxes went to the basement storage room. That was probably my fault, but they only showed me the word STORAGE on one side of the box and not the top which said which room they came from. Otherwise, it was a very positive experience.

We had a totally positive experience with Metropolitan. Very responsive from the first call, committed to a time on a very busy day (Saturday) and for our desired time slot-- also called back day before to confirm.The time set to start was 9:30, and they showed up about 9:15, so the move itself started promptly at 9:30. Chris and Manuel were absolutely tireless and always cheerful and polite, put down protective material to keep from soiling the carpet, wrapped anything that needed it in plastic, and completed all the packing in about an hour +. They had plotted the route to ensure there would be no obstacles (based on the size of the truck), we met them in Arlington about an hour later. They were alrady familiar with the loading dock arrangements at the new place, and went right to work moving everything in (using freight elevator to 8th floor), putting everything in place and finishing in about an hour. The whole job was done within the 4-hour time frame, and exactly on budget. We were amazed that these 2 guys were able to do a job of this size so smoothly in this amount of time-- hope this review gets passed on to Chris and Manuel, we will definitely use Metropolitan in the future based on the service we received from these guys.

Metropolitan's estimator assured us that his estimate was more in line that that of Town and Country thus we elected to use them even though their hourly rate was higher. No packing instructions were given and then we were notified that my desk and dresser needed to be packed the day of the move. In the end they billed us for 4 hours more than the projected costs and event tried billing us for a second trip due to rain. Our move was scheduled for September 2, 2014 and they arrived 1/2 hour late. In the end the rain suspended the move. The workers waited for the rain to clear but to no avail they had to reschedule the remainder of the move for the next morning. It is my assessment that they under estimated the move while selling us a price that was suppose to be spot on or less then. Also they tried to bill us for a second trip and time that was not spent working. Lastly, we are missing one area rug and a box containing office supplies they packed due to lack of communications by them on what exactly was needed. We would have certainly packed the office and dresser as everything else was packed by a team in advance of the move. The workers were friendly and in lieu of their conduct we tipped each of the six workers 20.00 as a thank you. Once the billed was received I disputed the charges immediately. It was a very contentious exchange and not one that was customer friendly. To date we have not received the final bill. I've sent two emails and placed a call requesting the adjusted final bill. My interest is in paying the bill and putting this experience in my rear view mirror.

The movers were prompt, courteous and very careful with all our items. They were great representatives for the company and I would highly recommend them !!!

The movers even showed up early. Couldn't have nicer and worked fast. No damage to anything!

As an Air Force officer, i have moved 20 times in 10 years. I have had good moves/packs and bad moves/packs. I can say without any reservation this was BY FAR the BEST, most thorough, most professional household goods pack i have EVER had. I wish there was a higher rating than "A" to give! Soooooo, A++++++++++++++

Metropolitan Moving & Storage was so easy to work with--they arrived on time, the quote was right on target, and they packed everything carefully. Nothing was damaged. When we got to the new location, they patiently helped me arrange the biggest pieces of furniture because my husband had a ruptured disc. I'd use them again.

They did an great job and stuck to the estimate.

It went great! They were on time, professional, right on their quote, and very flexible. The movers themselves were hardworking, personable, and took great care with my items.

Everything went exceptionally well. We moved with them about a year ago, storing half our belongings and we just moved into a slightly larger home so we were ready for the rest of our stuff. Everything arrived perfectly intact, and it was good to see some of the same crew members from last year's move. I saved a little money on my monthly storage bill by way of their referral reward program - great idea, btw. Oh, and they also assembled my daughter's new bed that wasn't even part of the move. Great team, great company.

They were so good my parents used them recently. The same great service was provided. My parents were even more impressed with how careful and how fast things were out of their old house and set up in their new house. I highly recommend Metropolitan Moving & Storage to all my friends and would definitely use them again.

It went very well. Your professionally trained moving staff ensured that all of my belongings were well protected, secured, and delivered safely to my new home. My furniture was individually wrapped in quilt pads and some of my pieces were shrink wrapped. Very impressed in the care they took with all of my things; especially my cherished Wizard of Oz figurines. If I ever move again, Metropolitan Moving and Storage will be the ones who will do it. And if anyone asks for moving company recommendations, I will send them your way.

The second flawless move with these guys in a year. It was a little cheaper than last move because i still had some stuff boxed up. After all that time, the contents were still in perfect condition. I felt bad because this time around, the crew faced a 4th floor walk-up, but they conquered it with ease. Hope I stay put for a while, but I'll never use another mover.

This was a great experience for us. They sent two crews- one to our old house and one to our storage unit! So we were able to empty out two places at once. So it took only about 4.5h versus the whole day if they had sent one crew to do both portions. Both crews were prompt (actually early, to be honest, which is never a bad thing). Very efficient. We had a done a good portion of the packing already so a lot of stuff was already in boxes. But they took care of everything-they wrapped and protected everything even though our move was literally (I mean literally) two streets away, in the same neighborhood. Once we got the stuff to the new house they unloaded quickly, placing everything wherever we asked. And several times I had to ask them to reposition items (like our queen-sized bed and a rug, etc) because I didn't like the way it was facing. They were plesant and actually quite enjoyable even while having to re-do some things! They worked hard and fast but were very careful with our stuff. Not a single thing was broken or otherwise harmed. Would use them again tomorrow. And also have referred them already to two friends who are moving within the neighborhood as well. UPDATE: I have presented an accurate and honest account of my experience with Metropolitan Moving & Storage. Suggesting it is "hyperbole" and I am an "opportunist" is an outrage. In one instance, Justin did search for my car title in my filing cabinet, but I was billed for the time. During the entire time Metropolitan Moving had possession of my property (31 mos), I was NEVER allowed access to it. I later learned my property had been transferred to a Self-Storage unit in Rockville, and later moved to another location, which they still have not disclosed. The police detective investigating this case learned it was later stored at an airpark. Metropolitan can not provide any documents stating where my property was and how many boxes were transferred, relocated and delivered. In addition to the missing 54 boxes, just about everything they delivered was damaged. They did send an operations manager while I was at work, who actually glued things together without my permission. I have photographs of all damages, ad it is NOT "minor." I had a seasoned insurance inspector examine what was delivered, who stated "there is evidence of mildew, dry-rotting (no climate control), water damage, poor packing, improper storage and stacking, mishandling and damage during moving and delivery." After I filed a claim, Metropolitan Moving cut off all communications, have never contacted me, and will not take responsibility for anything. Therefore, it is under investigation by the Rockville Police Dept. and the States D.A.

Edi came by our condo in order to check out our stuff and make an estimate based on the items of furniture and boxes they would need to move. His assessment came into the ballpark of what the actual move was. We were given 4 men and an estimated time of 5 -7 hours for the actual move. They brought wardrobe boxes making it easier to get our closets moved and also wrapped any loose items before putting them into the van. They were quick in moving in our stuff into the townhome and if some furniture items didn't have a destination - the leader would ask me and if I didn't have an idea - he would make a suggestion that was fitting. I think my only two complaints were that one of the movers' shoes marked traffic grease on our carpet. It was fine since we were planning on getting the carpet cleaned. Secondly, Edi had told us he would waive the credit card fee of 3% but that didn't come across in the paperwork. The lead coordinator of the movers was willing to get a hold of someone but we didn't think it was a big deal to pay by check. These two complaints wouldn't prevent me from using them in the future.

When I was told they would be sending a team of 2 I had concerns. In the past 3 & 4 movers took forever. This duo showed up 30 minutes early, had my belongings on the truck in 2 hours, drove straight to my new place (no stopping for lunch), and unloaded promptly. I've moved 3 times in 4 years and this is the best moving service I've ever used.

The entire job was flawlessly executed. The team showed up exactly on time, full of positive energy, with a second truck to make the packing go faster (at no additional cost because it was the middle of the month). The first thing they did was lay out floor coverings so there would be no mud, and then they shrunk wrapped most everything and finished the packing I hadn't had time for. I was sceptical of the shrink wrap, but now I understand its purpose; there were no nicks or shifting as the trucks drove! And they shrunk wrapped my bedding right onto the beds! So at the end of the day we could just jump in and sleep instead of searching for sheets, pillows, and blankets! They took care of their own lunches once we were done pacing, and then they started carrying everything up those two flights of stairs...no elevator. These guys are obviously professionals on full time salary. They knew exactly how to work together on big objects or strap lift several boxes of books on their backs like Sherpas in the Himilayas! They put everything together, like the office desk and the bookcases, that they'd had to dismantle at the house and made sure things were placed exactly where I asked. There wasn't a single hitch or surprise...except they came in under the estimate!! They are amazing. I'll use them anytime from now on!!

The movers did an absolutely wonderful job. Fast, efficient, courteous. My upholstered furniture was shrink-wrapped to protect it. No damage to anything. I would highly recommend this company to anyone wanting to do a local move.

EXCELLENT service. Good pricing given the quality of service provided. All movers were careful + thoughtful about packing, loading and unloading.

Each crew of movers were prompt courteous and wrapped each piece of furniture. As if it were their own. Both times the total amount due was less than the estimates. The company and their employees made the move very easy for us!

In addition, they should have removed the railing before they moved my piano to the 2nd level to avoid any damages to the wall.

Edi came out to provide an estimate which I appreciated as many companies just have you do estimates on the phone or via website. His estimate for the move was $1500 plus materials (boxes, paper) etc. He offered to provide used boxes for free. Liz--who's fantastic--organized the drop off of boxes on a Saturday. They guys brought a bunch of different sized boxes, tape and packing paper (some new, some used). The day of the move, the guys arrived and got right to work. There were some issues with the condo building (the elevator was frozen due to the cold, needing to move the truck, etc) and the guys handled it with smiles. We had access to another elevator while the main one was being fixed so we only lost about 10 minutes total. The guys got me packed up and out of the condo in about 4 hours. They did everything quickly, took care with fragile items, and had smiles the whole time. At the new house, they took care with the floors, were willing to put things in the attic (up a rickety pull down ladder) and set up everything quickly. They kept asking what more they could do. When I couldn't find anything....one of them shoveled the snow from the walk for a few minutes!! I love these guys!! Great job, great service--from the office to the door--and a great price. They came in under the estimate (in part because I did more packing than I thought I would) and saved me a ton of money by providing used boxes. I would definitely recommend using them!!

Administrative staff was rapid in their response on my initial request for a quote and with subsequent questions. Eddie came to our house and gave us a quote, which was almost 100% accurate and less than another quote I received over the phone. On the day of the move, 4 movers arrived 10 minutes early. Despite continuous rain (heavy at times), they did a fantastic job with keeping our homes clean and our belongings dry and safe from the rain. They were all extremely hard working and took only a short break for lunch. They moved our upright piano, arranged our furniture to our liking and even helped clean some of it. Overall, I highly recommend them.

The move went very well. The crew was on time and ready to work. I new these guys were going to do a great job as I had used them before to move our furniture into storage. Everything had been wrapped and packed to perfection. I had nothing to worry about. These guys were pro"s. Professional , polite and hard working through out the entire process. Francisco and his crew are the best!!
