I had an excellent experience with Metropolitan Moving and Storage, and I plan to use the company again. I contacted Metropolitan Moving because I was looking for a company that offered short term storage facilities in addition to moving services. In the end, I did not need the onsite storage, but I decided to hire Metropolitan, after interviewing 3 other companies, because of the unparalleled customer service I experienced at every stage of the move. From the initial onsite estimate, to move planning, to the crew that handled the move, every person that I encountered was professional, patient, responsive and responsible. During the onsite estimate, Eddie walked me through Metropolitan’s pricing strategy, recommended a 4-person crew for the house and explained that his estimate likely would be higher than the actual move cost. I had a number of follow up questions after comparing estimates and was helped by the marketing director and other employees, who went out of their way to answer my questions and make sure that I felt comfortable with the process. On the day of the move, Leo and the crew were amazing. The arrived on time and surveyed the house. My scheduled furniture pickup from a charity had fallen through the day before, and Leo helped me identify which items in my donation pile would be accepted by Goodwill or Salvation Army. He also advised me to get a larger storage unit and kept the process moving efficiently - even after I added an unscheduled stop to the move. Each member of the crew was professional and polite. They helped me save money by bringing over used boxes for last-minute packing, and Leo advised me to return a TV box that I had purchased, noting that it was too large and likely would not protect the screen. The move came in almost $200 under the estimate, and I couldn’t be more pleased. Metropolitan took great care of my family, and I give them my highest recommendation.

It was great moving out but moving in though was a little more hairy. The boxes were delivered to the wrong room, the table legs were attached to the wrong table , I had to hire some guy to come and move things around because they were too heavy, so that part of it was not very good.

Extremely well. The movers arrived on time. They worked extremely hard and loaded their truck up quickly and efficiently. There was no damage to anything they moved, nor was there any damage to the homes that they relocated to and from. The were friendly and accommodating, placing everything where we requested. The entire job was completed by early afternoon the same day. A very positive experience and I highly recommend them to others.

They did a great job. The movers were professional, efficient and fast. All items were wrapped in padded paper and plastic. Items were returned from storage in good shape. This is a great company and I would definitely use them again.

The services were excellent. These are the best movers we have ever worked with - the estimates were done clearly and quickly. We had to change the move in date and they were very flexible. The movers were courteous, friendly and kind. They were extremely efficient. We wish they had done all of our moves! They were also quite cost effective with the final total actually coming in under their estimate. Overall, a really positive experience across the board.

Exceptional service. The movers were on time, polite, efficient and worked carefully but quickly. This is our second time (in a 14 month period) using this company and both moves have been seamless. I have 3 kids under 3 and a husband who works long hours and Metropolitan Moving took the stress and worry out of the experience and all at an affordable price. From start to finish Metropolitan Moving & Storage was very professional during our hectic move. From start to finish, this was the best move we ever had. Eddie came out and gave us a reasonable estimate. Each time I had a question, I called and got friendly, professional service. They dropped off boxes, tape, wrapping paper at my request, at no additional charge. On moving day, Stanley and his crew (Michael, Pedro, Christian and one other guy) showed up on time, and got immediately to work, packing pictures, lamps and other loose items. We had already packed everything else. We had a large house and the crew of five finished in about six hours. The same crew arrived at our North Carolina house the next morning - early! It took Stanley and his crew about five hours to unload, put together beds and dressers with mirrors. At every point, they were friendly, professional, and diligent. And best of all, as we unpacked we discovered that not one single thing was broken or damaged in any way! We highly recommend Metropolitan Moving and Storage for any east coast move, whether local or long-distance! The final price came in at about $300 over the original estimate, because of extra packing time for some large items we couldn't handle ourselves. All in all, a stellar experience at a reasonable price!

Metropolitan staff were very proficient and courteous during both of my moves. Larry came out to my home and took an inventory of my items to give me an estimate (which he provided the same day via email). The movers provided during both of my moves worked efficiently and took the time to wrap my belongings that I was placing in storage until the move to my new place. They arrived ahead of time for both moves which was awesome. The movers were polite, courteous, and punctual. Moving is stressful enough, but it's so much better when you have a moving company that puts the customer first and takes care of your needs.

The three men arrived early and worked quickly, carefully wrapping anything fragile, such as several pieces of glass furniture, and moving difficult items including a particularly heavy couch from the basement and a piano. We also had many boxes. These men were extremely friendly, careful and efficient. The house to which the items were moved had a steep outdoor staircase but they were able to move everything that needed to go on the second floor, including the piano and fragile furniture, without any problems. Even though it was New Years Eve, they turned around and drove to our daughter's house in Maryland to deliver the piano and bed that had been in the Pennsylvania house. We were truly amazed at how well the move went!!!!

Metropolitan Moving was fantastic. Their estimator came out a few weeks early, surveyed all of our belongings and furniture before we began packing. He gave us a quote of $1700-2000 for four men and two 26' moving trucks. When we began packing, I called over and they dropped off forty variously sized boxes and tape that were included in the cost. We packed up everything ourselves except for both flat screen televisions, which they did a great job of wrapping and securing when the time came. On the day of the move they arrived right on time, laid out walk mats on the floors and carpet, and got to work. Their guys hustled and made light work of what I thought was a mountain of boxes and furniture. At the new house they brought things in and we just told them which room and everything went very smooth. They set up both beds in the frames, unwrapped and set both televisions on their stands. Every piece of furniture was shrink wrapped before moving and unwrapped once it was in its final place. They were very careful with the walls, doors, and railings. Not a single thing was broken, not a single wall was scratched. Best of all they came in under budget. Quoted as $1700-2000, actual total was $1329. My wife and I hope that our first new house is our forever home, but if it's not I'll call these guys back to do the job.

Metropolitan Movers made a very stressful move easy. This is the third time was have used their services, but the first time going long distance. Previously we had just moved within the DC area. Even though I remember my great experiences in the past I was still amazed at the service from start to finish.
From the moment you inquire to after your move is done, Cassie is extremely helpful and responsive and really takes care of you. She walks you through the process, and responds to any questions you have extremely quickly and thoroughly, an absolute delight to work with!
Eddie did the walkthrough for the estimate, and he was spot on, he gave us options for packing, just loading/unloading and packing some. The estimate was perfect, and having the piece of mind paying what you budget is really invaluable.
I can't say enough great things about Leo and his team (Jose and Ravel). From the moment they arrive they are respectful, cordial and absolute machines at moving. Our place in Chicago had a few flights of stairs and they powered through, were very cautious around walls and floors, and were absolute problem solvers when something didn't fit or work just right.
Whether doing a short or long distance move, they will do great. Having just been through my first long distance move, and having done research on different options and providers, do yourself a favor and pay the extra and don't fall for shared rides, the money is totally worth it, as the move went exactly as planned and was great!

Beware! Very disappointed. They came in at twice their estimate, which was very surprising because we had given them a very clear estimate of what we needed. The men on-site told my in-laws (who were overseeing the move) that they wanted specific drinks from Starbucks and asked for lunch at Subway. I found that to be weird and unprofessional. And to top it off, they broke half our China that we had them pack and move because it was so fragile. Their offer was for $0.60 per pound of China, which did not come close to the replacement value of the items that they packed themselves! It also took them 5 weeks to respond to my complaints about the cost, the professionalism and the broken dishes.

We offer every client a free, on-site estimate, but due to this customer's schedule, she could not have us come out. An inventory was provided via email, and the initial quote given was for $1200. The customer called back days later requesting packing services that were not previously discussed. The final price was $2100, a result of more labor time and materials to pack the apartment. Therefore, "twice the estimate" is far from correct. 2. Our crew maintains that they were offered the food and refreshments, and did not go out of their way to request them. 3. Our liability on this move was $0.60/lb, but that is not what we proposed. We actually sent her a reimbursement of $300, far-exceeding our liability (a total of $315 was claimed in damages for a box containing 8 bowls.) We do have full-replacement value options, but the client did not pursue them. We appreciate all feedback as we work to sharpen our service, but the items presented in this review are un-factual and very misleading. The movers were a bit early which we had no problem with. The movers were very nice, pleasant to work with and had no problem interacting with us to be sure they understood what went and what stayed. They carefully wrapped/protected furniture, curio cabinets, clothing placed on their moving racks, etc. All went well! When the moving crew finished loading the truck, it was only about 3/4 full if that. The truck was much bigger than actually needed. This can be the reason why the estimates are routinely higher than the final move cost. Since there was obviously so much room left in the truck, the guys were willing to throw in a few things that I had not included in the move - things that we intended to move ourselves later (with the help of friends & family). I really appreciated that. Why waste that big truck! The truck arrived at our new house the next morning (after storage at their facility overnight). The truck was unloaded and items placed where we wanted it, including items that went into a storage shed on the property. Again, the crew was very helpful and pleasant to work with. We tipped them for their effort. After about a week I still had not found a painting/piece of art that I knew had not been left at the old house. I called the office and reported the picture missing. The office person suggested that I give it more time to "turn up" and suggested that because of their process (coming to the storage facility and the truck remaining locked overnight) that loss or theft was unlikely. I wasnt buying it! After at least a month - after almost everything else was unpacked, I found the picture! I have a lot of art/pictures, and they were wrapped, but not in the thick blue cloth blanket-type covers. They moved 3 curio cabinets and all of the glass shelves were packed in that type of soft, paddded wrapping. So was the art piece that I thought was missing! My only complaint was that the truck was much larger than necessary, but Metropolitan Moving & Storage did a great job! I would recommend them and use them myself again.
