Marvin is very conscientious business man. He showed up when he said he would, worked under some of the hottest conditions imaginable to complete the work as scheduled. When a couple of issues arose he returned and redid things until I was 100% satisfied. One of my neighbors saw his work and contracted him for concrete work at his house. He ensures customer is completely satisfied and is a man who keeps his word. I would definitely hire him again

I purchased a service -- a certain amount of concrete work -- and was told that it would cost twice as much to do more than I wanted done. He refused to do the work ordered.

I wasn't happy with him at all. He wanted his money before I had a chance to see the final product. He wasn't honest with me. I told him before he even started the job, I said that job has to be finished when I'm here to see the final product. He agreed to that. Then, the day that he was due to finish, I said, I'm not going to be here. He goes, trust me ma'am, I've been in business blah blah, blah. I'm on Angie's List and my rating is blah, blah, blah. Against my better judgement, I left him a check and the work when I quickly looked at it, it looked alright. upon further inspection, they had messed up and they had put a big hole in the back of the concrete patio. They had fixed it but they did such a lousy job of fixing it, I had to hire another contractor and pay him $200 to fix what they did. The concrete he did for my driveway is already cracking and he just did this work in 2013. I would never recommend him to anybody. He came in over budget which was alright, I accepted that. He did come back to the house. Where I asked him about the area where ti look like he had thrown grout or something in this big hole it had been in, I wish he had told me upfront where we put a big hole in the base of your concrete and this is what we did. He didn't tell me, I found it and asked him about it. I said, I think that should be smooth though and that looks terrible. Oh no, I'd leave it along. I just went and hired a guy that's sort of an all-purpose handyman that I knew. It took him four hours and he charged me $200 to smooth over the big clump of it looked like grout to me that the guy had just put over to cover the big hole. The only nice things I have to say about the man is that when I asked him questions, he did come back to my house and looked at the concrete. He was polite but I just wasn't happy with the work he did.

They are excellent! I cannot say enough good things about them. The owner (Marvin Evans) of the company is as nice as can be. The customer service is excellent.

Everything went great. Marvin was courteous and very knowledgable about concrete and how to address my problem. He and his team were very punctual and made sure to keep the job site very clean. I've had several neighbors comment on how nice the finished product looks. If you need a reasonable price to replace, upgrade or add concrete for your home, Marvin and his team are the way to go.

The contractor said he could not do the work for the amount of the special deal presented byAngie's list. He said the cost of the material and labor would cost him more. He went on to say he provides quality work and will not compromise on that to cut costs and then suggested I get a refund from Angies List.

I purchased a big deal for $699, for a sidewalk and the company representative which I assumed was the owner, said he did not post this deal and he could not do the sidewalk for the amount listed. He seemed angry that a called. I contacted Angie List representative, I thought the representative would contact the provider and call me back. That did not happen.

Nothing to say, really. They never came to look at the site and didn't call or e-mail.

Marvin came to evaluate our driveway and give us an estimate. He didn't try to sell us on doing more work than we thought we needed. He and his crew tore up the concrete and put down gravel. The second day the concrete was poured. The driveway looks great and we are very pleased. He was very responsive and easy to work with. I thought the price was reasonable and certainly lower than some we got. I would definitely use him again.

The company is Mr. Evans who works with laborers under his supervision 1. Estimate was very good compared to 2 other companies. Very punctual once contact was made. Estimated a 3 day job. 2. Work proceeded as scheduled on Wednesday. Crew arrived and cleared the outdoor furniture and removed the old concrete in one day. 3. Next day, Thursday, they regraded the area, put in gravel and blocking boards to pour concrete. 4. On Friday there was some delay where he was unable to get workers until the top of the following week. 5. They returned on Monday as promised at 7am, and had the concrete delivered by truck. The work looked good. One Problem: There were some tools in my back yard, on the furniture that was moved on Wednesday. An expensive framing hammer went missing. Mr. Evans said he did not approve of his workers touching anything at a customer's house, and he would inquire if anyone removed the hammer. The hammer was never recovered, and no offer was made to compensate or replace it. ****** In the end, I would recommend Mr. Evans' work. Just expect that he receives text and email messages but he is not very responsive that way. Phone calls are best. Also, to avoid any issues, do not leave tools around that could be mistaken for his crew's gear.

Coordination, negotiation, demolition of existing porch was uneventful and smooth. Problem occurred when I discovered the new steps were not the same height. The rise on one was too much and rise on the other, too little. Both are outside recommended safe tolerances and OSHA guidance. Visitors arriving at my front door have tripped, fallen and have verbalized how dangerous it is to negotiate the steps. The contractor is resisting coming back to make it right. Legal action is being considered.

Marvin was knowledgeable, very professional and followed up on his quote. He was very responsive to questions we asked. We went with a stamped concrete look. But if we selected regular concrete, J&M would have been our choice.

Marvin came to the house to do the estimate the same day that I called him. We had a written estimate a couple days later and he started work a couple days after that. Marvin and his crew were punctual and professional. Our driveway and carport have some cracks in them but he didn't try to talk us into having them replaced along with the walk and steps as another company had done. He just told us that he would put in a buffer between the carport and new walk so that if we eventually had the driveway and carport replaced, the new walk wouldn't be damaged. He checked with us several times during the process to make sure we were happy with the work and if we wanted any changes before the concrete was poured. We are very happy with our walk and steps.

Job was done well and quickly.

I called J&M about replacing a walkway and stoop. Marvin Evans came out promptly, and we discussed the options. Later that day he called me with an estimate which I accepted. Mr Evans and his crew did an excellent, professional job. They removed the old walkway and stoop, dug out and put in a crushed stone foundation for the walkway (original walkway had been poured on bare earth), built the forms, poured the concrete. Some days later, they returned to remove the forms and grade around the edges. Very neat, clean results. I had Mr Evans come back later to do some patching of my inside basement walls. Again, an excellent job.

J&M did a very creful, conscientious, professional job. They prepared the area very well and made sure that the concrete was installed on a solid base. They asked important questions along the way about the sizes and locations to make sure we agreed with the details of what they were installing. The finish on the concrete came out perfect and they cleaned up afterwards leaving the area presentable. I would highly reccomend them.

He came very promptly and gave me an estimate for the driveway of $2800.00. He said that he would mail me an estimate for the steps and pad. When I finally recieved the total for the steps and pad included, the total came to $4800.00. After two weeks he finally got back in touch with me. He claimed there was a death in the family, which I understood, but a professional call would have been appreciated. Eventually he contacted me requesting my information including my email, home address, our names, and my phone numbers. I said to him he already had that information. He claimed it would be easier if I sent it to him in an email. I sent him the information via email, and he claimed he never recieved it. I sent the information two more times. I finally recieved an email from J&M which was completely blank. Since opening that email I have problems with my computer that I have never had before. A new browser window appeared and the first browser included a website called Inbox.com. A second email address was used which was w3i.com. Everytime I type something in my browsing window it was defaulting to inbox.com. Now it is defaulting to w3i.com. I consulted with IT specialists and spent an hour trying to resolve the problem. The technician stated I should not ever have a browser window. She could not solve the issue and I would have to contact the manufacturer to have the issue resolved.

I decided to not go forward with the project, but he was a really great guy. He was professional, organized and very knowledgable. He spent quite a bit of time with me going over the project and he was good with communicating with me through email. If I ever do go ahead with the project I will definitely hire him.

The job went without a hitch. The cost was very reasonable, he was responsive, punctual, professional, and efficient. I would definitely hire him again.

I cannot say enough about Marvin. He is very professional, extremely hard worker. Very nice guy, and very personable! Appreciate his follow-up! I can't tell you how many people I contacted for bid out the work, and not only did he call me back and show up on time, but he also continued to check in with me when I got too busy to do so. For someone like me who is GCing my own job and having to stay on top of people, it's really nice having someone like Marvin who you don't have to babysit. You can tell he truly takes pride in his work and really wants to make his customers happy. He showed up early each day in the cold, stayed late into the night (in the dark with barely any light to work with!) and worked on his hands and knees to get the concrete as smooth as I wanted it. We had an issue arise one day (with the concrete pumper company, not Marvin's), and Marvin jumped in quickly to address the problem. Overall I'd give Marvin an A++, and that's a lot for me, as I consider myself a very tough critic. He knows the meaning of a budget, and was very willing to work with us so we all feel like we are being treated fairly. I will sum it up his way: he is punctual, reliable, trust-worthy, hard-working, and possesses great skills. And what impresses me about him the most - the one thing that I can honestly say I haven't seen with another contractor that I've come in contact with in a really long time? He takes pride in what he does.

I called Mr. Evans to arrange an estimate and he came out the same day. After looking the job over he explained how he would completely replace the entire walkway and porch. He provided an estimate of 2800.00 (later revised to 3000.00 due to unexpected increase in cost of the concrete). Took measurements that day before leaving. Because I was also having siding replaced we left the actualstart day open. When I called him back to start the job, he emailed me the proposal and we arranged for a 50% deposit at the start of the job. The day of the job Mr. Evans showed up with his crew and removed all the old concrete, prepped the ground and boarded out the perimeters. He expanded the second step to the full width of the poarch and also the walkway. The next day, he and his crew showed up and waited and waited and waited for the concrete truck to show. It finally showed late afternoon and after the pouring they went straight to work. The final job exceeded my expectations. I pretty much wanted everything replaced as it was before, but he configured it even better! He is very professional and he and his crew are hardworking folks with a lot of expertise. I will definitely call again if I need concrete work.

Outstanding. On time, on budget, first rate results.

Marvin was a pleasure to work with. He returned calls promptly and was open to changes in the job as we realized it made sense to do an additional area. The job was completed quickly. The new sidewalk is thicker than the old sidewalk, level and will drain properly. Plus it looks great!
