They served their purposes. They identified a lot of problems right upfront. We would hire them again, whether we do it or not it doesn't hurt us but I don't want to hurt their company.

Did the job pretty quickly there was no need to drill holes through the beams the electrician punched the holes in the ceiling for the four lights. The job went pretty quickly less than 90 minutes.

Examination of the house electrical system went as well as I expected. The cost was a bit more than I expected but this view is not a complaint.

Ryan was very methodical and took his time making sure every possible electrical connection was assessed and corrected. He kept us appraised of his progress and if he encountered any issues. We were very pleased with his work.

We did not use Hawkins for the current project, based on the days they were available. We will contact Hawkins to complete a more complex job, and give more time for them to respond._x000D_|_x000D_|Thank you.

The service went very well. The Service Rep. arrived on time, carefully took down the old fixtures and installed the new one. He was friendly, answered all my questions and was very thorough. Afterwards, he made sure we had all relevant materials and extra pieces and cleaned up after himself. I thought the price to install the additional light fixture was reasonable and I am overall pleased with the results.

This is a bit tricky. It took 3 visits for the work to be completed, partly their fault, and partly mine. My house is a split-foyer, basically a ranch house on a basement with a front door halfway between. So there is a half stairs going down and a half stairs going up. That makes a high ceiling above the front door landing. There was a light 15' above the landing. I had a tiffany style lamp to replace the old top light and I wanted a new light added at the bottom of the basement stairs on the same 3-way switch as the op light. The first Hawkins electrician said the tiffany lamp needed hanging hardware work, but installed the new light at the bottom of the stairs and wired it into the bottom switch. Only after he left, I discovered that the top and middle switches made the top light go off when the bottom one came on and vice versa. Meanwhile, I thought I had fixed the tiffany lamp hanging hardwire with an additional nut tightening everyhing. Hawkins sent out a 2 man crew a few days later and they undid the bad wiring and looked at the tiffany lamp. They declared it "not to code" and said I need to have it repaired/rewired by a vintage lamp restorer. But they undid the original guy's botched wiring. So I was back to original conditions. I then had the tiffany lamp repaired/rewired. The repairer said that "any qualified electrician should have been able to do that simple work". So with the repaired tiffany lamp back, I called for a 3rd visit from Hawkins. Two "senior electricians" came out. They did all the work properly, everything works correctly and looks good. But they were from the commercial side of the company (a special effort by the service manager to resolve the problems), so they are not the people you will normally get for residential work. But the invoice was charging me for the original bottom light wiring I had already paid for that was botched on the first visit. One of the guys today was merely doing the previously paid-for work. I spoke to the service manager, who seemed a bit confused about the previous work. He claimed that "installing a new light and run wire" did not mean attaching it to a switch (who would NOT attach a new light to a switch? And what would "run wire" mean if not a connection to a power supply?). Then he claimed I demanded 2 workers so I had to pay for both anyway. I said the heavy lamp required 2 people (and the one guy who installed struggled and almost dropped it, that their own people had suggested 2 people, and it was not my problem if one guy decided to do it all himself). The service manager finally deleted the 2 hour labor charge of the guy who did the previously-paid-for corrective work, but treated it as a favor "to resolve the situation". And changed the labor rate from the discounted one he offerred earlier in the day before their people arrived. To "resolve the situation", I accepted, because it reduced the cost from $440 to $275 and I considered that fair regardless of how they booked it. It's not my concern how the service manager manages his books. So you decide if you want to use Hawkins Electric. They did good work by the end, but I had to "discuss" their charges to eliminate double-billing, and it took several visits (the first of which was a waste, the second of which could have saved me 4 hours of driving time to a vintage lamp restorer, and the third of which was a total success.

They gave a written estimate to resolve my issue and suggested a temporary fix. Despite the age of my panel, he found that it was in good working order and sound construction. I was surprised that he didn't try to make lots of suggestions to improve a system that really didn't need work (but looked old and like it could use some work), When I decide to go ahead with the work, I will definitely call Hawkins.

I was very impressed with this company. I called today and they were able to send someone out the same day. They called me when the electrician was about 15 minutes out from my house to let me know he was en route (this was a request I made not sure if they do this standard). The electrician was on time, nice, and efficient. He was able to quickly assess and diagnose my issue and he installed everything in less than an hour. He explained the pricing for the job in detail. I was very impressed and would definitely use them again.

EXTREMELY WELL. I cannot recommend Hawkins highly enough, especially the electrician they sent named Brian. Not only did he quickly find the problem but also explained how the problem happened.

We were having some sporadic problems with voltage fluctuations and blinking lights that were not traceable to any single fuse or subpanel. We got the Angie's list deal to get an electrical inspection and mentioned the problem to the tech who came by - Dustin. Dustin was very helpful and spend a lot of time trying to figure out what this mysterious problem was due to. He found a loose wire that may have been arcing and tightened it. Importantly, he was very honest about the difficulty in being sure that this was the problem (since the issue was very sporadic) - but it seems to have fixed it. They didnt try to slap on additional charges and jobs and did what they came to do, really well. The lady who took the appointment and scheduled the visit was also very polite and responsive

He was very competent, quick, and explained everthying as he was working. It was a good experience

I called Jason on Monday afternoon to try to set up service for two weeks in the future. he was able to accommodate me the very next day. The electrician was to arrive between 12-4. Jason even called me to ask if it were possible to arrive even earlier as the electrician finished up a job earlier. Jon arrived an was very professional and courteous. he was able to quickly perform the work and then I was on with the rest of my day. I appreciated the quick service availability and the customer service follow-up to ask if they could arrive earlier. I will definitely be using them for my future electric needs

We purchased the "Big Deal" from Angie's list and had horrible experience! First, be very careful about purchasing the "deal" - the deal clearly stated that if you had an electrical box, you'd be all set for a ceiling fan installation. However, once they show up, the story changes, and you need an "electrical FAN box" for which you are charged an additional $125. At this point, there isn't any deal, as the price would have been the same for any electrician to come and install the fan - or at least the ones that I contacted for quotes. We needed to have two fans installed. The electrician that was sent to our house was completely incompetent. He was there for seven hours and in that time, managed to create two gaping holes in our ceiling, partially install one fan, and create a huge mess with spackling. At one point, he told me that to install the new electrical fan box, he would need to make a much larger hole in our ceiling; however, once I began talking about options with him, he realized that he didn't need to create a huge hole that he wouldn't repair after all. I have zero electrical experience - I should not have been the one to come up with the solution. And it is crazy for him to think that it would be acceptable to have made a large hole in the ceiling and then tell me that I needed to hire a drywall person to come and fix it. At this point, it was 7 pm on a Friday night and he wasn't getting anywhere with the installation of the second ceiling fan in my son's nursery. He left and said he would return on Monday with another electrician to help him. Since the fan was left uninstalled in my son's room, we were left without electricity to most of our upstairs for the entire weekend. The electrician that accompanied this guy back to our house on Monday was nice and basically ended up telling us that the first guy was incompetent, but that doesn't change the fact that we were left without electricity to half of our house for a weekend, and that the installation job is completely shoddy. While the fans are up, they "fixed" the holes they created in the ceiling with spackle! And there is spackle all over the fans as well. It makes me angry every time I see the fans, and unfortunately, since one is above my bed, I see it every day. At some point, I'm going to have to hire professionals to come out and fix the mess they made of my ceiling. I would not recommend this company at all. I'm going to end up spending money to fix their mess. Buyer Beware!

First electrician removed old ceiling fan and installed new one but it did not work properly -- same problem I experienced with the old fan. Electrician could not resolve problem but put in order for follow up. Another electrician came two weeks later; identified problem in the wiring and reinstalled the new ceiling fan

All went well. The assessment took about 30 minutes. The installation was completed in about an hour. All debris was taken away by the electrician.

This was an extremely painless purchase. After we signed up for the deal we got a call from Hawkins. This took a few days, which was not really a problem. They tech arrived on the day, just a few minutes after the scheduled time. He was pleasant, professional, and fast. He was in a and out in about an hour. I highly recommend the deal if you've been wanting a ceiling fan installed.

It went well. It was a great experience. They were really informative. The deal was a good deal. The guy that we dealt with walked us through what he was doing every step of the way on what he was fixing. They have great customer service. I would use them in the future.

I purchased a "Ceiling Fan Installation" in early July from Angie's List's "Big Deal." After receiving a phone call from Hawkins, their technician arrived at the house to install my ceiling fan. As soon as he saw the room, however, he explained to me that he needed an additional $125 to install the ceiling fan, as it needed a ceiling fan box. The technician merely looked at the existing fixture from the ground and did not check to see if/how the existing electrical box was supported. He explained that he would need to go to Home Depot because he didn't have such a ceiling fan box in his truck, but would be back within a half hour. I carefully reviewed the deal when I purchased it, and I know it said there would be an additional fee IF THERE WAS NO FIXTURE there. We had a fixture there, so I reasonably assumed I would not be charged that additional fee. I decided that even though I purchased the "Big Deal," I would forego the installation and seek a refund from Angie's List. $244 ($119 + $125 surcharge) felt overly expensive for the mere installation of a ceiling fan -- even considering accessing the attic to install a structurally supported ceiling fan box. After Hawkins' technician left, I took the existing light fixture down and found that the electrical box in the ceiling was already structurally supported and rated for use with a ceiling fan. I then had another electrican come, verify that the box was structurally supported (from the ceiling) and install the fan for less than the allegedly discounted "Big Deal" price. Hawkins was gracious and polite when they came to the house and understood why I didn't want them to perform the work. Angie's List and Hawkins also promptly refunded the price of the Big Deal without hassel.

They were prompt and courteous. They explained each recommendation. Pricing was lower than a previous estimate I received.

As scheduled I received a call from the dispatcher who was very professional. She informed me that the electrician had an emergency call that they had to address. She said she would find out how long it would take to resolve the issue and call me back.She called back in less than 10 minutes and let me know that the emergency call had been resolved and the electrician would arrive in 30-40 minutes which they did. The dispatcher also indicated that she would send me some coupons to use on my next service for my inconvenience. I had purchased the Angie's List big deal for $133 for installing 2 ceiling fans for a total of $266. I asked the electrician if he could set the ceiling fans to work when I switched the light switch on and he informed me that it would be an additional $329 per fan. I told him that was too much. He installed both fans in a timely fashion and even asked what side I wanted the blade so I could choose white or beige. I didn't even know that was an option. Overall really professional organization and quality and efficient work.

Everything went great. The electrician was professional, meticulous, and friendly. Would definitely use Hawkins again!

I purchased a so-called big deal to replace a ceiling fan. Communication - excellent. There was always a "live" person at their end of the phone, not just a voicemail. I place a high value on that. The appointment was prompt, no sense at all of being second rate because it was a "deal". The tech arrived on time, was neatly dressed in a company uniform, was very professional. He did the job assigned, completely satisfactorily. This is one of the increasing number of service companies that prices all its jobs by the job. OK if you have a coupon, otherwise not. I wanted to install a different wall control switch. I was informed that this would be $100 extra (for a five-minute job). To be clear, I'm not p***** off - just, be warned. This company WILL perform EXACTLY what you signed up for, professionally and without complaint or demur. But the surchrage for any extras is HUGE. I'll install this switch myself this weekend. That's why I gave a B instead of an A.

I wanted a transfer switch to be installed and the initial estimate was a bit high I thought. The manager called and we worked out a price I found very reasonable since the installation was particularly simple at my house. The repairman was prompt, did excellent work, and gave me suggestions about to resolve an issue with my generator as well. I recommend them and will have them back for some additional work when it is required.
