Geek Squad - Best Buy

Shop clerk told me the computer had a "software failure" and cheapest repair was $200. He brought up an order on the checkout screen that in fine print was an agreement to charge my credit card $200 ANNUALLY for a membership. I said no; he said approve it and then he would take the annual off. Instead, I flashed a stack of $20 bills at him instead of a credit card. He grumbled, deleted the repair and entered one-time service for $150! I told him he said there was no cheaper price and he refused to talk.... Then, three days later when I went to pick up the computer, they lied about the repair, saying they removed five VPNs. The laptop only had one! -- they took it off and also removed two search engines and my anti-virus, and apparently that got the computer working. I monitored (without telling them) how much the fully-charged battery dropped while the computer was in their shop and it was turned on less than ten minutes. I will never return to that store for another repair. Liars!

Chatted on line with Geek Squad support representative to verify that this was a repair that Geek Squad could do if I brought the printer in to my local Springfield (VA) Best Buy. Was told "yes" as service fee would be $99. Scheduled a 6pm appointment and drove to store only to be told by the in-store technician that they do not do printer repairs...period. No suggestions on what to do. Very disappointed by whole experience. Only minor plus for Customer Service was they had called me after I'd left to drive to the store to say they couldn't do a printer repair. Pity the online staff were not that informed.

Delighted! Geek Squad techs were very professional, very nice and wore foot covers in the house. Very respectful of our home. They even went back to the store to get our sound bar after they found that installation of the sound bar was not on their work order. Above and beyond service. They explained how to use the TV and let us practice until we were comfortable with the controls. They called ahead to give us an hour window for their arrival and were just very, very professional.

John and Mark we both professional and clearly knew what they were doing. The set-up went without a hitch So very thankful that we got that team. They called and arrived promptly to the minute - they were respectful of our property and we would use them again 100 %

The technician arrived as scheduled, performed an efficient job of installing the new tv purchased for my grandson's birthday, connecting the unit up to the family's cable provider and to my grandson video game console. Technician cleaned up thoroughly after completing his work and was courteous throughout his visit.

On time. extremely professional, good personal behavior, and very fast!

Everything performed well and they even made the existing theater system sound better.

The technician determined the repair was not under warranty and to repair my 2 year old television a part would have to be custom-made for the cost of the original set, over $5,000. In other words, in 2 years I would have paid $10,000 for this set which is too much!

They diagnosed the problem but it would cost well over the cost of buying a new TV for the parts and labor to repair the HDTV. It would entail buying a new screen in addition to other parts and labor. We appreciated the diagnostic service and left it at that.

I took my laptop to the Geek Squad at the Best Buy store in Bailey's Crossroads and they promised to have it fixed and back to me within three days but it took a week--they didn't even call to let me know it was taking longer than expected and their automated system didn't provide any details either. After getting it home, I was unable to reinstall my printer, my wireless mouse did not work, and I couldn't save any of my favorites! I called and scheduled a home visit and they gave me a four hour time frame for the agent to arrive but he called and said he may not be able to come because of car troubles! Anyhow, I called the office and got someone very nice and helpful and finally got an agent there later the same day--I was stuck waiting for nearly 8 hours! He was very professional, helpful, and got everything fixed and working properly again--not sure why the USB drives weren't checked at the store which would've saved the home visit! It was a rough start but all is well now. Not sure I would use them again unless I was in no hurry to get the work done...

Fantastic. The Geek Squad Agents completed our Home Theater install in a very professional manner. After mounting the TV and installing the Sound System, they programmed my remote and reviewed the operating instructions for the Home Theater equipment. I commend Geek Squad on the caliber of Agents. Every purchase I make at Best Buy is covered by a Geek Squad plan!

John Monis (or Manis) was the lead technician and explained the services, that they would return for any corrections needed at no charge; and that for one year they would move the TV at no charge. Both techs were professional in manner and took great care in both the removal of the old TV and installation and testing and setting up of the new.

The three guys were just great. Arrived during the window we were scheduled for, put on their little cute booties so they didn't scuff up our hardwood floors, and thoroughly discussed the entire project with us. At first I didn't love how far the swivel mount we got made the TV come out from the wall. So they were ready to give me options. One of the guys even went downstairs to take a look at the mount on the old TV to see if we could use it but it, but we determined it wouldn't significantly reduce the number of inches the TV would stick out from the wall. We discussed the situation quite awhile (and they admirably endured my whininess when the installation didn't look like I had thought it would. But we all finally decided the mount we got would look fine and do exactly what we wanted it to do. Only downside was it turned out we had to pay an extra 99.00 to have them program our universal remote, because we didn't know that wasn't included in the price I originally paid, but we would have went ahead and paid for that at the store if we had known it was a separate charge. The guys were friendly and efficient, and I'd have them come over to any future installations in a nano-second!

There were a couple of moments that they had a difficult time getting equipment to register, but were very patient dealing with Verizon to get the issues resolved. Everything works as advertised.

I love the Geek squad! They go too great lengths to explain everything fully and to write down anything I'm going to need to remember later. They don't treat me like what I am - an old fogey!

Everything went without a hitch. Our "geek" Charles Paisie, called ahead to announce when he would arrive, proceeded to set up the TV while explaining what he was doing . Once the TV was set up (It took about 20 minutes), he spent considerable time explaining the mysteries of the remote and how to fine tune the TV image. Mr. Paisie was thorougly knowledgeable in what he was doing. He had a pleasant manner about him and patiently answered all the questions. He also arranged for a subsequent "haulaway and recycling" and confirmed the arrangement by email. Later in the day, Best called to confirm the date and time of the pick up of the old TV sets. The new flat screen TV (Samsung, 40") works like a dream .The whole experience left us highly satisfied.

They were very knowledgeable and informative. They informed us it would be three days but only ended up being one day! I feel like I have a brand new computer!

When the installer showed up 2 hours late, he argued with us and said that there was not enough time for an install and we would have to reschedule. We called the scheduling number and they informed him that he was ALWAYS supposed to do an install and he was wrong. He then began to tell us a whole laundry list of things we needed for the install, which we did not need. And that we would have to reschedule because we did not have them. The only thing the Geek Squad did well was refund our money.

They gave me good recommendations. I thought I needed a new computer but I just needed to replace my battery. I signed up for a one year contract with them for future repairs for a year.
