Home Depot referred me to ARS to replace our upstairs HVAC. All went well until several weeks afterward. The condensate drain leaked behind a wall in the basement and flooded our basement. The condensate drain was not installed by ARS but they had to hook into it and they should have tested it properly to ensure it was draining. The drain exits the house right next to the exterior unit that they installed. If the drain were bumped during installation it may have broken. The flooding cost $6000 dollars to repair. The problem that I have is their customer service. All they did was point fingers and claim they weren't responsible even though the flooding coincidentally happened right after installation. They sent someone out to repair the broken drain pipe and then I found it leaking too and had to get my own plumber to repair it for $250. Mr McDonough at the company ARS told me he might be able to help with the plumber cost on the phone but never would respond to my emails. My insurance company tried to get them ARS to take some responsibility and at least pay my deductible but they wouldn't. They told my insurance company to have me call and they would discuss. They wouldn't return my calls. A very costly experience that could have been handled much better. I wish that I had read the other reviews on Angies List about this company before going with Home Depots recommendation of ARS.

Lately, their services have declined significantly over the last 2 years. They are no longer as responsive or as helpful as they used to be. They haven't shown up for appointments twice.
Description of Work: We purchased a home air conditioning system from them. They also do seasonal check ups on our system twice a year.

Not so great. I called ahead of time and spoke to someone at Rescue Rooter to see if the deal would be sufficient to have a kitchen sink faucet installed that I had already purchased. I was told it would be. Well, once the technician got to the house I found out that they charge a flat labor fee to install a faucet. $350. So I had to pay an additional $250.

I really just needed the pipe to be re-soldered but he refused to just re-solder it and insisted it needed to be replaced. So I went ahead and replaced the joint. Turns out it could have been re-soldered so I was disappointed they steered me in the wrong direction.
Description of Work: I purchased a deal for $50 to get $100 of plumbing work, they ended up placing a t-joint which cost an extra $225.

Contractor ARS reviewed AC unit, condenser and furnace then declared all units needed to be replaced not repaired and set an appointment time to give an estimate for new equipment. I cancelled and found a smaller independent contractor who was able to service the AC unit and added R-22 refrigerant and inspected condenser and installed MFD capacitor. AC met home inspector requirement and sold the house without a very large replacement cost.
Description of Work: Reviewed outside AC unit, checked R-22 level, checked condenser unit over furnace. NO repairs were preformed.

I was a few minutes late to meet the technician. By the time I arrived, he had already unclogged the outdoor drain. I was shown the price schedule, which included $300 for unclogging services. The coupon discounted $50, the bill came to $283.54 with tax. Other companies have previously charged me $125 for the same service, without a coupon.

Technician easily drained the hot-water heater without incident. Technician replaced two bedroom toilets, leaving one toilet seat without a hinge bolt. Was not good. Technician replaced a Delta kitchen faucet without advising me that the Delta faucet had a lifetime warranty. I bought an additional kitchen faucet and Technician took my Delta faucet with him. Was not good. I would not use ARS again.

They did a good job. They came through the American Home Shield. The price was a flat rate. We haven’t had any problem since they fixed it. Everything he said was right and was excellent. They came to fix the air conditioning unit the year before. They are a good company and I don’t have any issue with them. The technician that they send out are polite. They come and do the job. Two years ago they sent a technician that I didn’t like. He didn’t put on the cover when he came into the house and it was raining. He walked all over my rugs like it was nothing. That bothered me a little bit. Since then I haven’t had any issue.

They are either unorganized, over their head, or very inconsiderate. Either way, this was a very unprofessional company not to at least call and update us that they would not be able to make it as scheduled, and then to not show up at all. A very light hearted apology was given when I informed them that they didn't show up after an appointment was made. and no attempt to reconcile the problem. So, I would not ever call them again nor do I recommend anyone to trust that they will show up or even do good work since they have a problem managing their own personnel and scheduling.
Description of Work: I called and scheduled a AM appointment with ARS. The day of the appointment, no one showed during the time they gave me. When I called them to find out if they were still coming, they told me that the person was finishing up an emergency call and would come here next. NEVER HEARD FROM THEM AGAIN until 2 days later when someone called from ARS and said they noticed we called and wanted to followup on if we needed service. H*** NO! NEVER!!! I took an entire day off from work for absolutely nothing.

This is the second time using this company. They did notify the WSSC to let them know that there was an issue with roots almost penetrating the pipe. The technician was also able to identify the culprit of the back-up ("flushable" wipes). I had to leave the house while the technician was still working. We later spoke by phone twice. A very trustworthy company.

The problem was a leaking kitchen faucet, with a puddle of water under the sink cabinet. We caught it right away and made the appointment. But then it stopped leaking. I tried calling to cancel the appointment, but it was too late and I was unable to reach him. When he arrived he looked at the faucet and there was nothing he could do since it wasn’t leaking. (Since then, it does now and then sporadically.) He charged $59.95 for coming out, but did no work. The certificate does not expire, but have not called him since..

We have a service contract in place with ARS, and have had one for the past 14 years. They come to our house twice a year - once in the summer to inspect the air conditioner, and once in the fall to inspect our furnace. We had our initial fall appointment scheduled with them on 11/1/14 between the hours of 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm. At approximately 5:00 pm on 11/1, we received a call from the office stating that the technician had a family emergency and would not be able to make the appointment. My husband and I understand that things happen, so we rescheduled for 11/11/14 between the hours of 10:00 am and 2:00 pm. Since we hadn't heard from anyone by 1:30 today, my husband called the office, only to find out that we were actually scheduled between the hours of 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm. My husband was not too happy at this point, because we had rearranged family commitments to accommodate the 10:00 to 2:00 timeframe we were told ARS would be at our home. At 4:30 this afternoon, we received yet another call from the office stating that the technician wouldn't be able to get to our house today until around 8:00 or 9:00 pm this evening. That is an unacceptable timeframe, considering our original timeframe scheduled with Lakesha (in the ARS office) was 10:00 am to 2:00 pm today. We, again, had to reschedule with ARS. We now have an appt. for Dec. 6 between 8:00 am to 9:00 am. We'll see if the technician actually shows up on that day, between those hours, or if we will be getting yet another call from the office.

It went okay. They sent one plumber. It was a 5 minute job, clearing drain disposal. They service was still expensive even though I had the $100 credit. I wouldn't use them again in the future because they're too expensive.
