He was prompt, honest, and thorough. I would absolutely use him again as he offered me information and referrals without even booking my work. This is why I chose him.

Everything was great. They were professional, punctual, and did excellent work.

We were informed by our roofing co. that our chimney crown needed to be rebuilt. We hired 2 Hats Chimneys and Ducts after researching their reviews on Angie's list, which were excellent, and after receiving several estimates. They were very professional about letting us know when the work would begin and end. They arrived on time, worked quietly and efficiently, and did a beautiful job. The new crown looks wonderful! In addition they put on new caps which were also needed. We would definitely hire this company again.

Overall, my experience with them was good, and I had no complaints. They did what I expected them to do. They showed up on time and were professional in their work. I was more concerned about the leak and the quality of the work, and it was good; the work seems to have been done well. I would rate them highly and would surely use them again in the future if necessary.

Very friendly and willing to answer questions and offered future phone support if we have questions during some DIY projects. Gave tips and pointers and explained everything in detail. Offered other improvements (heat shield) and discussed recommended maintenance and future items we should expect to take care of once their usable service life has expired.

Called Dave on 9/28/11 and 9/30/11 (at least the vm recording said it was Dave); both times left a message. As of today, 10/3/11, I have not received a return call. It was really cold last night... (10/4/11) - As it turns out Dave did call me back on 10/1/11 and left a message. I missed the call and did not notice the message until today. Not sure why. Dave also called last night to follow up and left a message, unfortunately after I turned the cell off for the night. I do apologize for the misinformation. I would entertain using this company based on his track record on this site. I have graded the company with a C based purely on having to wait a few days to get a return call. Based on 2 Hat's history on this site, it seems like this is an aberration from the norm.

Arrival was going to be 15 minutes late and I was called and advised of this. Upon arrival the chimney was inspected and it was determined that the chimney was very clean. Cleaning was not necessary and a thorough inspection was done. Additional advise was given to provide information as to how insert should be installed and what to watch for. Time was spent to discuss various aspects of chimney maintenance and this was not a "RUSH" job. There was no build up in my chimney and I was even shown the inside of flue. There was no indication of any work that needed to be done and there was no attempt to fabricate work. This is an upfront and honest company that I will be recommending to others.

We called to have the chimney checked out since we've not used it since moving in. Expecting the worst, (welcome to a new home!) he talked us through the process of the inspection (he did have an apprentice/trainee with him, but I think he would have been very informative anyway) and told us that the chimney was in great shape and only needed "a good burn." He showed us everything we needed to know about the fireplace and spent time talking us through everything we needed to know about using it safely, including what type of wood to burn and how often we should call him for cleaning/inspection. He even offered a referral for where to buy firewood. We will DEFINITELY call them again.

The work took three visits because the leak was very difficult to find. Each visit a possible solution was installedand was handled expertly, efficiently and cleanly.

Appointment was set, he even arrived a little early, checked everything out and concluded that it was in good shape at this time and didn't even need to be cleaned. Advised that I shouldn't need to have it checked again for about 2 years. I was very pleased.

He explained it really clearly, what he was doing. I have had a previous service provider who cleaned my chimney, and that happened whole year. This guy explained what the situation was. I had a woodstove, and I recently had it removed, so we were trying to replace the damper. He explained to me why my old damper wouldn't work, and there was a teeth missing. He talked to me about the prices of the damper when I was ready to get one; but he made sure it was closed, so it wouldn't have any airflow coming through. He took the time to talk to me, and really gave me a lot of information. He tried to prepare me for the future cost; but he didn't push it on me that day.

2 Hats was very responsive from providing a quote to completion of the job. They made recommendations that saved money without compromising the final quality. He arrived on time and worked quickly and efficiently. Very friendly.

Dave answered phone calls promptly. Very professional and punctual. Came within a couple of days for estimate of problem and repairs needed. Did not try to sell us anything we did not need. Replaced cap that day but due to short notice had to come back a week later to seal crown (this was okay because no rain was predicted). Really appreciated how quickly he came to our home to assess problem though. We thought price was very fair and work was excellent. Will not hesitate to use this company again.

He was on time. Friendly and professional. The service was preformed with out any attempt to do unneeded extras. I was very happy and will use again.

Dave Kilpatrick came out an evaluated some cracks in the crown molding on our chimney and general evaluation of our fireplace. He read through our home inspection report, our chimney inspection and other chimney guys estimate and explained what he saw in very simple terms. He sat down and drew diagrams and pointed things out visually inside my fireplace. He explained what he was doing and how it would fix the problem. He charged a cheaper rate than the chimney inspectors orginally. In fact, the bill was $540 dollars, but he reduced it to an even $500. Dave told me how to watch my fireplace for signs that it'll need maintenance and how long it'll probably take. When that happens, I will call Dave again to conduct those repairs. He's got a loyal customer in me.

The company saved me money by telling me I didn't need to pay to have my chimney cleaned. My only cost was a small fee for the inspection and coming out to my house. I will be sure to call them again when I need them.

The work was some time ago, but as I recall, he arrived on time, knew his job, understood the appliance (though it is an older model) and did a very thorough job, including not leaving a mess in the house. He showed me various points of maintenance that I needed to attend to or watch out for in the future and was very polite and professional.

We had mold and mildew growing in our ducts/vents. He came and cleaned them and sanitized them. He did a great job and kept everything clean. I've had others come to clean the ducts before, and they missed vents or tried to upsell and damaged the house. 2 Hats did everything just perfect--no problems. He even checked out my chimney and fireplace, at my request, and gave me recommendations of things that needed to be done. He was really good about saying things that did not need to be done, like replacing the liner or cleaning it. He gave me an estimate of the cost for him to do it, which was much more reasonable than the estimates I received afterwards, but he doesn't install inserts, so I ended up having our insert installer do the rest of the chimney work. I think 2 Hats would have done better--I wish he did inserts! He does clean the inserts, but installations require 2 people.

It went very well overall. Prompt arrival and honest assessment of vent cleanliness or lack thereof. After several estimates found this one to be around the average price (maybe a little less) for this service but with an added level of professionalism from this company!

This is a father/son operation and they were great to deal with. I contacted them for a chimney cleaning and they scheduled me about three weeks out. They are extremely busy in the winter so be prepared to wait for an appointment. However, the day of the cleaning they showed up on time, explained everything to me, and I felt like I understood how to properly care for my chimney. Will definitely use again.

Web and phone contact worked well. When I met with Dave, he was reasonable about the prcing and was supportive of the customer seeking several quotes. Two Hats was the 4th vendor I had contacted. The other three quotes were higher than Two Hats' price, as they wanted to sell me flue liners. This included one vendor who would not abide by his warrantee, and another who wanted to replace my oil furnace flue which was later inspected (by others) as not defective! I appreciated the fact that Dave stood out as the more honest guy .

They were very good and honest. He informed us on a way to save money with our chimney he was very efficient.

Prompt, reliable, fair price, got it done quickly and best of all - did not make a mess of any kind, despite it being very dirty work.

Dave came out and inspected my chimney and fireplace. He was on time! The total cost to repair everything ($1800) was outside my budget. This included all sorts of things including replacement of glass doors, clean out doors, chimney crown, chimney cap, and some brick repointing. I haven't done any comparisons because, like Dave, most chimney repairmen charge to do an assessment. Therefore, I don't know if Dave's quote was competitive. However, his rates are online, which is convenient. My house was a forclosure so I wasn't sure what to expect. When I said I couldn't afford it, he suggested the items that needed more immediate attention, gave me an estimate of how long it would last before more major damage would occur, and also explained that it would be safe to go ahead and use the fireplace. The fireplace is important to me (I go through almost a whole cord per year) so I was thankful that Dave gave me the go ahead to use it and I will likely call him back when I am ready to have the work done.
