Thompson Creek Window Company

I'm sure they make fine windows since they can't wait to let you know all about them. If someone from Thompson Creek reads this, please discontinue the sales calls after your would-be customer fails to return them (say, after 5 attempts on both home and cell).

I think that they have a great product and an excellent pitch. I think that they would do themselves a favor by making it less like a sales pitch. Where they come up with a price and they say, but we can do better than that and they come up with the next discount. They were very responsive. In the end they were not the most cost effective for the work that we needed.

They came on time, completed the work as scheduled with no hicups. They were clean and tidy.

They seemed to have the best product for the best price. They came out with their presentation after I called them. They then came out and took the measurements and ordered the windows. They later installed the windows in one day. I would definitely use them in future.

They did the work in one day and each window was customized for the space. One of the windows developed a leak and started fogging up about a month ago. I called them up and they came and looked at it. Within three weeks it was replaced. They have a double lifetime warranty. We had them price two sliding glass doors about a year ago, but the price was too expensive.

A saleswoman came that was laid back and asked me if I had researched windows online. She asked me if there were certain things that I was more interested in hearing about. She demonstrated the windows and mentioned a few flaws in competitor's lines. She suggested shutters and other things. She offered me three prices: a today price, a 30-day price and a good for a year price. I had checked around and there was only one other place that had windows that I liked. They were my favorite windows and I told her that I would take them that day. They were the most expensive but they were the most esthetically pleasing. Through email and phone calls, they let me know that everything was on schedule. The windows were ready on time. There were three gentlemen who installed them and two were very experienced. They took pride in their work. They asked me if I had any questions and they explained the whole process to me. I was very interested because I helped my father build the house where they were replacing the windows. They were happy to show me that they knew what they were doing. They re-demonstrated everything about the windows and went over the guarantee with me again. Even the caulking is guaranteed. The new bow window totally changed the look of the house. They were so pleased with the bow window that they asked me to take a picture of them with it. They were totally non-offensive and did their job. They cleaned up everything when they were done. I was pleased and I got what I expected. I love the windows and they were a little surprised that I was putting that nice of windows in a rental house, but they have a lifetime guarantee. There was no pressure in the sale; they just presented the facts.

They were professional, responsive and punctual. The quality of the windows was very good and it was worth the money I paid them. I was satisfied with their service.

The service was excellent. They have been a main provider for windows in the area that I live. They have the blanket approval from our section review board to put the windows in. It was nice because I didn't have to fill out applications for approval. They did a good job.

I contacted Thompson Creek despite the negative feedback I found on Angies List and the internet because my home owners association told me the company had installed windows in my neighborhood, and thus would have windows that would be approved. I was very specific with the first person on the phone, explaining that I wanted the sales person to come prepared with the address of this home where their windows were installed. I also explained what I would need from them to obtain approval from my HOA. I repeated this request to the person who called me to confirm my apt. This second person made me repeat all of my basic information. Despite being the day of my apt, Thompson could not tell me the name of the sales person that would come. When he did come, he spent 2 hours and 20 minutes in my home, gave me an estimate that was 3 times higher than the others I received, and did not come with the details on other installations or even a brochure on their window that I could use for the HOA approval. The sales approach was pushy and outdated, designed to get a signature from people before they have a chance to know the price is obscene. The sales guy even played the sob story that if he didn't make a sale that night he wouldn't make any money even if I purchased the windows the next day. Needless to say, I didn't purchase windows from Thompson Creek.

I knew about the quality of the windows since my sister has the windows installed at her home. Originally, I was turned off when I called to set up an appointment. I was originally told that they could not come out since my husband would not be available and it was required that he be present since he co-owned the house. Since this did not set well with me, I told them they I would purchase elsewhere. I was contacted later the same day and was told that I was given the wrong information. The salesman came out and discussed with me. Originally, the price was far more than what I wanted to pay. I was told if I signed the contract that day it would be approximately 50% less. Since I already knew the product and the 50% price was in my budget, I purchased the windows. The windows were installed very professionally. I noticed after the workmen left that one window was not caulked. The workman came out the next day and corrected the problem. I am overall pleased with the window. A spring clamp from one of the windows came out when I lifted the screen. I have contacted the company and am still waiting for the project manager to call me back to schedule when they can come out and repair. I was also told that I would receive a package of information on the windows on operation and maintenance. I have contacted the company, but am still awaiting the information.

Thompson Creek was in the neighborhood looking for business (mostly window/door replacements). I asked about gutter replacement (they do that, too) and they agreed to schedule estimate for next evening. Rep arrived on time. Took pictures and measurements and spent about an hour talking with me about their covered gutter system compared with other gutters. Very thorough. I expected a "hard sell" from what I had read. She was friendly but assertive. She gave me an estimate (good for one year) of $~4300 for replacing two gutters (39' each), four downspouts, and one fascia board. It was $~3600 if I signed right then and there. I felt some pressure to commit and did so (my weakness), paying the deposit. After sleeping on it, I realized I made a mistake. I have a small house (one level). The covered gutters T.C. sells look like excellent quality, but really too much for my little house. I don't mind getting up on a ladder to clean out gutters, and I don't have a lot of tree branches dropping leaves over my roof. It was too much money for me and (my budget) to spend on gutters. I can see how high-end, covered gutters could be useful in some situations, but they were more than I need. The next day, I faxed a cancellation order. The manager was nice about it. The deposit was credited within the 10 business days required. Be careful of high-pressure sales pitches (even when nice). Three things I didn't like about the presentation: (1) being shown an Angie's List 2007 service award for windows when I am interested in gutters (a bit of bait and switch) -- show me a service award for gutters (!), (2) being asked to "guess" what the estimate will be before sharing it (demeaning and a silly play to see how much work they'll need to close the final deal), and (3) being offered such a discount if I decide "on the spot" -- just give me that price.

I'd love to give these guys an "A" rating, but like other people have said the sales pitch was to high pressure. The sales guy was adamant that he leave with a signed contract so I used that to my advantage and low balled their offer saving an extra $1,000 off their estimate. The initial estimate was $8800 which was ridiculous considering Pella Windows had already estimated $5700 for the job. After the "sales deduction" their estimate came down to $5700 which matched Pella. For that much I would have gone with Pella. I told the sales representative he would have to be $1,000 below Pella for me to even consider it. He made a very phony sounding call and came back with $4700. Had I been a better negotiator I believe I could have got this job for even less, but I'm ultimately happy with cost vs. value. The installation was clean and fast. Installers were very professional and left no messes for me to clean up. It's been a couple months with zero issues.

The quality of their product was great. Their devotion to customer service is terrific and the energy efficiency of their product is also good. They were easy to work with and I got what I wanted as long as I was able to express it to them but they did make one fairly major mistake.

They were really good. They were really nice, did the work in a timely fashion. And they offered a lifetime guarantee on them. If I ever have any problems, they come out and fix it for free.

The sales pitch is high pressure. The salesman adequately explained the product and how they manufactured their own windows. I did not like that there was only one option. After I got the estimate, I wanted one day to figure it out, but he was not willing. He did not even have a brochure I could keep nor was he willing to give me a number I could contact him at. Twice as he was packing up, he lowered the written estimate.

They replaced the old windows with new ones. The windows are very good. They open from the top, so nobody can get in through them, but we can unlatch them if we have to get out in an emergency. They were also good in explaining things to me. The quality of the workmanship was very good. They cleaned up once the job was done.

The old gutters used to overrun as we have a big roof. A lot of my old gutters were cracked and the water was running behind them. The gutters that they installed were oversized so it could handle large volume of water. They also came out on 2 occasions and corrected a downspout issue. The workers did a great job and also cleaned up once the job was done. I was satisfied with their service.

By the end of the day I realized I did not want to do business with them, which is my right since I have 3 days to terminate the contract. I called them and emailed them to cancel my contract with them. They had not contacted me so the next day I contacted them to speak to the general sales manager. First he responded saying that he will send me an email to let me know that my email was received and that they will provide a credit to the credit card within 10 days. Indeed I did get an email confirming his receipt of my cancelation, however, it has now been 20 days since that day and they have not credited my credit card account. I sent them an email at noon on Friday the 5th of June requesting they credit my account since they had not done so and I requested that they do so at their earliest convenience. Now it is the end of the day on June 8th and they have not credited my account nor have they responded to my email. In the telephone conversation I had with the general sales manager on May 20th, he said they wanted my business and he spoke to the general sales manager of the company and they will be able to do the job for us for $14,000.00, which is still higher than another company that I have now contracted with that is doing the job for $13,000.00. A company that does business this way is not a company to do business with nor would I ever do business with.

The windows are absolutely wonderful. They are vinyl windows and of high efficiency. They were actually on sale. They were 29 years old and they gave me 29% discount. Later they gave me a better price than that. It took 4 weeks to finish this work. A person came and took the measurement. Then they told me that it would take a month to finish it. Later they told me that they could finish it before that. They actually fixed all the windows in just one day. They make these windows themselves. The windows actually look like wood and it is of high quality. They cleaned up after themselves.

We were very pleased with them and their work. I liked the windows. They were very prompt.

The experience was excellent. They cleaned up after themselves so well that the floors looked even better than before they were there. They were able to finish the entire project in one day.

The crew that came out was excellent. They were professional, clean, and helpful. It is a quality service and I would recommend them to others.

The installers arrived within the scheduled window of time and began work immediately. They worked quickly and cleaned everything up when they were done.

The gutter shutter system is expensive, but I hope that it will pay for itself in the end. I have a 3 level (all above ground) townhouse and I did not want to hire someone to clean out the gutters every year. I also had a problem with bird droppings near the back and front entrance. Since the installation of the gutter shutter system, this is no longer an issue. The gutter shutter system looks beautiful and the color goes well with the exterior color of my townhouse.

Crew of 4 arrived about 9 AM and started to work immediately and were cleaned up and heading out the driveway by 3:30 PM. Very courteous and did excellent work. The windows are beautiful and really improved the appearance of the house. A fully one time transferable lifetime warranty. The windows have ben in now over a year and a half and we have had no problems. The price was excellent. We checked several window companies and had to virtually throw one salesman out of the house. It was like having a used car salesman in our living room trying to get us to decide on the spot for $30K. Thompson Creek was definitely the right decision for us.
