Thompson Creek Window Company

This is the second home and third time we have gone with Thompson Creek they live up to their claims; the quality of their product, customer service, and workmanship more than compensate for any price differentials competitors claim. Moreover, our previous Thompson Creek windows was one of the key selling points of our previous home.

Durring the installation, the installers damaged our kitchen floor. They eventually paid for the repair, but the process took about 2 months.

Thompson Creek was very flexible in scheduling. We had numerous schedule changes and delays due to the construction crew from another company and Sara, our Thompson Creek project manager, rescheduled the service to accommodate our needs. The Thompson Creek siding crew arrived on time and worked consistently and professionally. We even had a few minutes when there was no electricity available to the crew due to last minute electric work related to the construction of the addition, and they adjusted. They did a great job! The siding looks beautiful. The screened porch is connected to the outside wall of the house and so has siding within it, and they did a wonderful job inside the porch. They also took care to cover the floor of the new porch. The gutters look great and best of all, we think they're working well. The Thompson Creek quality assurance manager came by and inspected the details of the work and made a suggestion of changing the color of the vent so that it blends better with the siding and they plan on handling that. We are very pleased with the work that Thompson Creek performed and their products. My husband was here for most of the work and thought they were all very professional.

The entire process was very timely and extremely professional from intial meeting thru installation.We are very pleased with our new windows and would highly recommend Thompson Creek!

They were very quick to respond to my request for a quote. They were also very willing to answer questions. No surprises! They're coming Friday to give me a quote for new work.

Thy are an outstanding company to deal with. They stand by and guarantee everything - years after installation. Don't expect any real bargains and low-low pricing. You are getting quality and fabulous service. I had so much done over a five year period. I did everything at top of the line. I replaced regular windows with bays. Took out windows and put in doors. Prices were always "mid-stream". They have many sales and as an old customer I get discounts. I would absolutely hire them again; I am considering their vinyl siding. Not cheap but great quality.

It turned out well. They’re lifetime warranty is very good; I had a small problem with the door and they came out and fixed it.

It turned out fine; they came at the right time and he was here all day. I had one thing that needed to be repaired; he asked me what the best day was to come back, I told him 2 days, and he came right out and was on time.

He did a very good job. The gentleman who came out to put the door in was very polite and very professional. Also, the staff kept me informed of when they would be out and called back to make sure I was satisfied, which was nice. I certainly would recommend them to anyone else.

Everything was fine and we were very satisfied. They did a very nice job. All the guys that came were very nice to work with and cleaned up everything. We will have them here again to put in windows when we decide.

The salesman was professional and is proud of this product. Scheduling was easy, every step had a follow up call and email. We were given contact people for the various stages of the work and each was very professional. They came on time to install the windows and worked quickly. I think the team wanted to do a good job. We had a small issue with some damaged wallpaper, it took a little itme, but it was eventuallly resolved. Otherwise Responsiveness would have received an A. They were responsive in every other way. The gentleman who came back to do some "punch list" work, like replace two screens that were the wrong size and to show me how to clean the windows was just great. We got 17 windows first as we thought of doing some remodeling, but changed our minds and got the other 3 windows about a month later. Everything went smoothlly. Overall, I think this is a good company with good people. UPDATE - It is January and it is cold. I am amazed at how well sealed these windows are. My old windows felt cold around the shashes and even the glass was cold. The new Thompson Creek windows are not letting any cold in (or heat out, I guess). We are impressed.

I had a really hard time finding someone that could do this. I found that they did it, and they did awesome job. As an added perk for the french doors, which are upstairs, I had researched pet flaps that have an extreme weather flap. This will keep out extreme temperature. I asked if they could have these flaps as opposed to the regular flaps, and they called the manufacturer that made them, and they said it was no problem.

This report is on the hard sell approach and my specific experience and difficulty in attempting cancel the sale after succumbing to their sales closing tactic "you only get their best price only if you sign the contract on the spot." My sales experience is a "hard sale" by very skilled and charming salesman. The process is designed to invest a significant amount of your time (3 1/2 hours for me). After spending half my day engaged in his sales pitch, I regrettably signed the contract (knowing that the State of Maryland does allow cancellation within 3 business days). After sleeping on it, I decided to cancel the contract. My concern was that the investment was just too large a financial commitment ($25K for an end-unit townhouse) and that the ROI was not there to justify spending so much money. In addition, I wanted to get more quotes and was angry at myself for allowing the "price is only good today" pitch to work on me. I called TCW that morning. After conversations with 2 levels of management (after a salesman makes a sale, he is out of the picture, which is something that seems suspect in retrospect to me). After multiple pushes to continue to "sell" me, I finally thought my experience with Thompson Creek Windows (TCW) was over. But is was not... Even AFTER the cancellation, TCW proceeded to charge my credit card for the deposit. They proceeded with processing the financing application by pulling credit reports, etc. They proceeded to schedule a re-installation technical measuring visit. All this a full week after the cancellation. When I finally had it with all the calls "congratulating me on credit approval" and advising me that I needed to be home the next day from 8-12 for final measuring, I called to speak to a supervisor whom I perceived to be "annoyed" at my call which was the last straw for me. I realize that I was probably not a priority for them since I decided to cancel my order and I was a lost sale for them, but the way they handled it (or didn't) was very disappointing and in retrospect, I am relieved that I am no longer tied into a contract with this organization. They do have 10 business days to refund my deposit, hopefully they will do so without need for further time wasted with TCW, we'll see. I'm not trying to tell Angie's List members not to use TCW as I never actually bought or installed their product. It could be as good as they say...I just want to make sure that all potential TCW customers don't fall into the same trap I did. You should always get 3 estimates and never sign a contract that is for a price that is good only for that moment...a tactic that is considered questionable. An investment of this size always deserves time for consideration before signing a contract, ESPECIALLY a Thompson Creek Windows contract.

Great salesman - courteous and no pressure. Very focused crew who worked from morning until dark. Good clean up. The only problem was that the last windows installed were installed when it was dark - the big picture window and two side windows (forming a bay window) in the front of the house. The capping on the windows was done poorly, with dents and gaps. I texted a picture of the install to the company and within a week, another crew came out and redid all the capping on that window. I was pleased with the response and absolutely love my windows! I have already seen energy savings.

Horrible. Result was that the gutters to this day haven't been replaced. The original salesman misrepresented the services which were going to be performed and the costs associated with this installation. When it came time to get our $300.00 deposit back, I spoke with a sales manager whom agreed to personally see this through and verified that the "backer board" and all rotted material would be replaced for the total cost of $2300. I was pleasantly surprised at the reduction in price and agreed to have a team come out to collect payment, perform a final assessment, and schedule time for the services to be performed. On the day the final inspection service was performed I received a phone call from a scheduling agent which stated that she was calling to schedule the final inspection. Confused I told her it was scheduled for today. Needless to say that never happened and it was rescheduled. I called the original sales manager and reschedule a time to have the team do the final inspection of the home. I never received a call back. When the team came to do the final inspection and final payment was to be made, they stated that they weren't going to replace the backer board and that all of the backer boards would have to be replaced for an additional cost of $7/ft (total $700 not including labor). I stated that this wasn't the agreement and even stated that I would go and purchase the wood myself and have them install it and they stated they would charge $300 for installation. Irate at this point I called the Sales manager and the scheduling agent and informed them of the issue to which no one called me back. Weeks later I receive a check in the mail for my deposit with no further communication from the representatives at Thomsons Creek. I was highly disappointed in the level of professionalism, courtesy call back protocol, customer service , and interdepartmental communication issues which seem to exist there. They don't seem to have any consideration for other peoples time and following through with the contract stipulated by the Sales associated. I was doing this as a courtesy for my mother-in-law and I will not work with or recommend Thomson Creek on my home or any of my colleagues homes.

The product is very good and the installation went well.

We were pleased from start to finish even though there was a glitch along the way. After 5 weeks installers brought the new doors and removed the old ones. However, when they removed the top of the door frame they discovered a 1/4 inch thick steel plate--unseen by the technician who had done the measurements. A supervisor arrived to verify the situation. The doors could not be used. The supervisor explained that new doors would be ordered. The installers put the old door back on and left. Thompson Creek absorbed the cost . Three weeks later, August 1, the installers returned with the new doors and spent about 5 hours carefully installing them. The work was completed in the late afternoon. They did a thorough and neat job. Overall, we were pleased with Thompson Creek.

I had a friend use them who was very very happy with them. They were actually more upscale than another company and priced more inexpensively. They came out and did our windows and the results were fantastic. They did not leave a scrap of mess inside or outside the house. The disruption in the house was minimal. We had huge windows in our living room and also in our entry way replaced. We have been delighted with the results. They used double or triple glass with the coating to reduce the suns effect on furniture. They did a beautiful job. They were so efficient in the house, I thought I would have to clean scraps and dust, they were absolutely fantastic.

My gutters were in bad shape and in some places were falling off the fascia boards. I saw an ad in The Washington Examiner by Thompson Creek offering a limited time sale of one-third off gutter replacement. I called and scheduled an appointment. On Saturday, 5 March 2012, Bruce Jackson from Thompson Creek, came to my home. He explained in great detail and with actual models of the Thompson Creek covered gutter system, how their product works and how it is installed. Although Bruce was not one of their salesmen, but worked in production, he was sent to see me. I found him to be knowledgeable, professional, well-spoken, well-dressed, polite, courteous and patient. Since I was looking at the third time I would be replacing gutters, I wanted to make sure I got a quality product that would last this time. I asked about doors and shutters and Bruce showed me what the company had to offer. I selected a storm door, a steel front door, door knobs, dead bolt, frame and jamb and 3 pair of new shutters for the front of the house. These items had to be made to specifications at the factory. I made a down payment of $1,375. Thompson Creek arranged financing through General Electric at 11.99% interest. Later, I obtained a line-of-credit home-equity loan through my bank with a lower interest rate and paid off the GE loan.A Thompson Creek inspector came out on Sunday, 13 March 2012 to measure for the gutters, and get the specification measurements to place the orders for the two doors, door frame and jamb, and the 3 pairs of shutters. He also confirmed the colors and styles I had chosen for the doors and shutters. On Thursday, 17 March 2012 the Thompson Creek crew came to install the covered gutter system. The gutters and other material had been cut and dropped off on my property a few days before. They came promptly around 8:30 am. There were 4 crew members and another assistant. As I watched, I could tell the crew was skilled, well-trained, competent, efficient, professional and hard-working, and worked as a team. They took a lunch break and ate together sitting on the grass. I was very impressed with Mr. Kim, who was the team leader, and also Jaime. These two were the older team members and set the tone and example for the younger men. I pointed out to Jaime, while they had some of the vinyl soffit on the front porch disconnected, that another installer had covered up an electrical outlet. Jaime took the time to reinstall the soffit covering so that the electrical outlet vinyl covering was properly framed and placed, so the outlet was usable again. He did not have to do this, and I thank and highly commend Jaime for taking the extra time and effort to do this for me. The crew completed the installation, carefully cleaned the property, and left by 4:45 pm.About 2 weeks after gutter installation I called Thompson Creek because I saw some build up of some of the "helicopter" seeds in a "v" shaped corner of the covered gutter on the garage. They sent out an inspector on 1 May 2012 to look at it, and the next day, sent a technician to make some adjustments. On Tuesday, 1 May 2012, two technicians, Marlo and Milo, arrived on time, at 8 am, to install the new doors and shutters. They had to place a plastic barrier for protection from lead contamination inside my front door as they worked, so I did not get to observe some of their work. Periodically, I would walk around the house to see how it was going from my front yard. Both technicians were knowledgeable, skilled, worked as a team and paid close attention to detail in installing the doors. Both men were professional, well groomed, courteous and polite. They worked without a break until they finished, around 3 pm. They cleaned the work area and removed the old doors and shutters. I am pleased with all of the work that Thompson Creek did on my house. The Thompson Creek employees I spoke with on the telephone were always professional, knowledgeable, courteous and polite. I believe the products that Thompson Creek sell, make and install are all high quality items that should last for a long time. They hire and train quality, hard-working people to be their employees and that says a lot for such a large company. I highly recommend Thompson Creek.

The representative came out to give us a price. We knew of their reputation and decided to have the work done. Someone came to measure and the windows were ordered. The day of installation, 2 installers came. They covered my rugs and were very mindful of my walls, furnishing, etc. They worked quickly, efficiently, and when they were done (within 2 1/2 hours), the one installer showed me how to clean the windows and remove the screens; and they were done. No muss, no fuss, just new windows and no other clean-up necessary.

The salesman spent about 2 hours with me explaining the product and pricing. He seemed quite knowledgeable about the product. The problem was the price. I did sign a contract because I knew that I could cancel within 3 business days. Two days later I got an estimate from a small contractor I had used before. The new estimate was about $10,000 less than his quote of $30,000. The company has a policy of matching a quote with equal quality materials. The salesman assured me that his price would probably be the best. When I called to cancel the contract another salesperson tried to push the matching policy but I said I did not want to do business with a company whose estimate was almost 50% higher than one offered by an experienced, reputable contractor.

Things went very well. I should have researched a little more on price, but I liked what they had to offer. The sales and installation aspects of their business were great, however I thought they could have done a better job in customer service or following up. Overall, I would consider using this company again and thought they did a great job.

The crew came as scheduled. By the way, we had changed the date several times, and Thompson Creek was accommodating to our schedule. They put down drop cloths to protect our carpets and floors. They took out and installed 11 windows. They cleaned up. They checked the final work and we did a walk-thru before the crew left to be sure everything was done correctly. One of the installers showed me how to operate the windows. The windows look great. It seems like the house is much quieter. The only glitch was that the crew had a different dollar amount due than the project manager had quoted. My husband contacted her by phone which took some time, but it was straightened out. All in all, a good experience. Everything was handled professionally.
