The sales pitch was very pushy, but the crew that came in to do the work was really fantastic. They actually delivered the wrong door to us and it took a little bit of finagling and they ended up installing the wrong door. Then they came back later on to install the correct-styled door and that was great. The on-site foreman really saved me a lot of headaches and I am very grateful for that.

Overall, this was a good experience. The saleman who discussed our needs was knowledgeable and courteous. Materials were dropped off within the agreed upon time frame. The workers arrived on time and worked efficiently. The new gutters and spouts are larger than the previous ones and perform effectively. A supervisor stopped by later on the day of installation to check on the work and to be sure we were satisfied. We have been especially pleased with the functioning of the gutter guards as we have not had to be concerned with a neighborhood bumper crop of maple seeds this past spring.

They are a big company and they are big in this area. It was expensive. It's one of those things, where if I had said I did not want to pay that price, they would have come back to me and given it to me for about thirty percent less but no one did that at that time. They do an excellent job and there is no question about that. They have high quality products. They cleaned up exceptionally well but at that price they ought to have. They got into a problem that they didn't foresee so they had to do a little extra work and they took care of that. It was very high quality but it's very expensive. Responsiveness initially was quite good but we had an issue where they had to come and take care of it. They were supposed to get there at 4 o'clock but they didn't show up at four. We weren't at the house location because we weren't living there at that time. They didn't get there, so we called them and told them that if they weren't coming, we'll just leave. It was 8 o'clock and they said they would still be coming late and got there at 10 o'clock so I wasted somewhere around six hours just waiting around for them to come. I'm not sure if we would use them again but we need another door fixed and I haven't really called them.

Sales person very prompt and worked well with us to understand our needs and budget. Job was being done as a result of insurance covering storm damage. Worked within insurance company estimate. Pre-construction measurements conducted in timely manner considering very busy time and person very complete with job. Job scheduled in coordination with other contractor replacing roofing. Onsite workers very considerate and effecient. At start of job, added task of wrapping all wood. Wrapping sales person didn't seem as knowledgible but provided good estimate. Was given incorrect timing for additional work. Wrap work not conducted for 4 weeks after completinon of replacement siding. Only difficulty on this job was the "project coordinator". He did not inform us of ongoing tasks or additinal wrap work and he had difficulty with communication (no communication) and scheduling. However, this issue was much better once we started working with the project coordinator's manager. She was very helpful and was able to get job completed in timely fashion. She also was very good about getting crew to come back for some very minor fixes.

This experience was the second one that I had with Thompson Creek. There was a knock at my door yesterday afternoon. A salesman was canvasing the neighborhood after the company had completed some nearby work. I told him that I was not interested in having any work done at my house.About an hour and a half later there was another knock on my door. It was yet again another salesman from Thompson Creek who didn't seem to have any knowledge that the first salesman had visited. He apologized, saying that their maps of the area had probably crossed. Another hour passed, and there was another knock at my door. It was the first salesman again, apologizing by saying that he didn't realize that he had gone all the way around the block. As bothersome as this experience was, it was more disturbing in light of my experience with Thompson Creek of about a year ago that I did not report to the list. I was considering having my front door replaced. The salesman (who was going door to door) showed me some sample brochures. However, he could not quote prices or take measurements. Someone else would have to come for a scheduled visit. I was going to think it over, but he insisted that I make an appointment for the next visit right then and there. I did, but I decided that I did not want to have the work done, and I phoned the company to cancel the scheduled visit. The scheduler was insistent that I reschedule, even after I explained that I was not interested. I resisted this "Hard sell", and I declined. Several days later I received another phone call from a different scheduler at the company asking me for when I would like to reschedule. I declined again, and I advised her to remove my name from their calling list. I was left with the impression that Thompson Creek is desperate for business. I would never do business with a company that takes "Hard Selling" to the extreme.

I signed up for an estimate while I was at the Baltimore Home Show. They were able to schedule me for the week following the show and asked that I allow an hour for the meeting. On the day of the estimate the salesman showed up 30 minutes late with no call to lety me know he would be late. He said he had gone to the wrong street with the same street name in Pikesville. ( I checked later, a no such street exists.) Most of the hour was filled with a lengthy sales pitch on why their product was better than anyone else. Frankly, I didbn't need that sort of heavy selling. Just show me the product and explain it (it's a rain gutter, not a rocket.) Finally, he was ready to look at the work so we went out to the deck. He did not bring a tape measure so he was trying to pace it off and complained that the deck had garden furniture on it. I told him several times that I had measured it, but he never seemed to listen to me. He finally said it looked to be about 14 feet.. On the bid he wrote up there was 14 feet of rain gutter for a 4 floor house., (The house is 12 foort wide and three stories built 4 feet off the ground) and 40 feet of downspout. and 4 elbows where 2 was the most you could use for the job (I had the work completed by another contactor who used no elbows and instead used part of the downspout placed at an angle which looks far better.) He also included 14 feet of Fascia board (at $7/ Linnear foot) to be replaced. (There was none there at the time, and no was needed by the contractor I selected) He calculated that the work would cost $1,484.00 with no explaination of how he came up with that price. He then spent the next ten minutes repeatedly telling me if I signed today, he could do better on the price despite my repeated insistance that I wanted to get other estimates. He was the first bid and I thought that $1,484 was way more than it should cost. As soon as he left, I called Thompson Creek to complain about the high pressure sales job. I explained that I would be looking at other estimates and that I thought $1,484 was way overpriced for the work to be done. I said that if they wanted to supply a better number, I would be open to that. The person I spoke with promised to call me the next day after looning at the paperwork. The nextday I received the return call and the new bid was more than $500 dollars lower, mkore than a third less than the original estimate. The new estimate was in line with other bids that I received, but given the experience, I would not deal with them. Superstorm Sandy hit the following week and damaged my roof. As a part of the new roofing bid, they bid $400 dollars to do the job. I realize this was lower due to the combined job, but combining the job made the gutters cost 73% less than Thompson Creeks inital bid. Buyer beware.

Complete and utter frustration and irritation from moment one.

I wanted to replace the windows in my master bedroom as the room can get very warm in the summers. The company is very thorough and meticulous during the whole process. Starting with the presentation, home evaluation, measurements, and installation. They even followed up with a phone call (they do even follow up with home visit but I wasn't available at that time). No issues at all.

A Thompson Creek sales representative came to our front door and I agreed to get a free estimate for their maintenance free gutter system. The appointment for the estimate was scheduled in a timely manner but I had to go through a verbal confrontation with the scheduler about the fact my wife would not be present for the estimate. The estimator arrived when promised but gave me a highly overpriced estimate because my wife was not present and I refused to commit to the sale prior to consulting with my wife. The next day when I called to commit to the gutter installation, the sales representative on the phone, without any prodding, adjusted the price to the normal price paid by other Angies's List users of this service. The installation was scheduled in a timely manner. The installation went very smoothly and I was impressed by the professionalism of the installation team. The new gutter system has worked very well over the past four month since it was installed. In summary, the sales experience was quite frustrating but the actual service and product are excellent.

The installers were on time and professional. The only problem we had was that they had the wrong wrap and it took them a long time to get the proper wrap for the windows. The clean up was very good as well. The home office was just very slow to respond.

Thompson Creek showed great customer service once we decided to use this company for replacing 8 double hung double grid windows. The only time I was disappointed with their customer service was when I was supposed to revceive a phone call informing me that the installers were on their way the day of the job. I never received a phone call and opened my door to run an errand when I saw them at my door step explaing that they had been knocking for about five minutes. This was my first time ever replacing windows. I feel comfortable with my purchase an notice a subtle difference in the warmth of my home. Once the windows were installed, I was walked around my home ensuring my satisfaction with the job completed.

They arrived on time and worked very efficiently. They completed everything in about six hours. They used drop-cloths everywhere and vacuumed everything after they were done. They also picked up everything from around the house that might have fallen out during the work. They hauled everything away and everything has been fine since.

The sales rep who came to the house was thorough and was not high pressure. He gave me an estimate for some other windows but did not push that on us. The work was started on time and completed quickly and thoroughly. The crew chief went thru operation and cleaning of the windows and walked around the inside and outside of the house with me to be sure everything was completed and cleaned up. The installers cleaned up and left everything as they found it and were careful not to disturb the cable that was directly in their work path. The payment plan is quite doable. I have already recommended them to others. Thompson also followed up twice to be sure we were satisfied and had no issues or questions.

We were extremely happy with the entire experience. From the consultation where we got to see the product (no one else did this) to the measuring and installation. I also have to say that their clean-up was amazing. They handled everything with their own, not sub-contracted crews, we didn't have to get anyone else to deal with any part of the job. Everyone was courteous and professional.

Overall, it was an excellent experience. The lead generator who came around knocking on doors was pretty clueless. I spoke to him because of the reputation of the company. However, he was just trying to get me to let them come back and give me a free estimate, so he wrote down all kinds of things that I "wanted" estimates for. The salesman/estimator was very professional and seemed to respect my time. when he saw all the things the lead generator had marked down that I wanted estimates for, he asked if I really wanted all those estimates. The answer was no, so he saved both of our time by giving me estimates only for the items that I was actually interested in. I found him to be very respectful, and I never felt like he was feeding me a line of BS. The only problem that I encountered was in scheduling the work. When I was ready to schedule the work, the 4.5-inch siding that I had ordered was no longer available, so the work had to be delayed while I sought approval from my HOA for a change to the 6-inch siding. By the time I received approval from my HOA, it was the end of March, and by then Thomspson Creek's schedule was getting busier, so I had to wait until May to have the work completed. Installation day was a breeze. The crew arrived on time, took a proper lunch break, and cleaned up well at the end of the day. Thompson Creek required that I be home throughout the installation, which was inconvenient for me, but understandable. I thought I would be able to work from home that day while the work was being done, but I failed to consider how noisy siding installation is, with the crew hammering on the exterior of my house all day long. The only time I was able to work was when the workers were on their lunch break, and I ended up having to take a day of annual leave, which essentially made the job that much more expensive. The siding that I got was insulated vinyl siding, and in the sales spiel, I was shown insulated siding panels with channels in the foam backing that were supposed to allow condensation to trickle down. However, the siding panels that were installed did not have these channels, and I don't know if there is some other system in place to allow condensation to run out.

The installers were terrific. They got the old door out in a matter of minutes, sealed everything and got the new door installed quickly. It looks beautiful and has made a huge difference in my heating bill.

The service was excellent! I received seven different estimates; they weren’t the top nor the bottom price. They got the job done within the time allotted and the quality of the work is excellent. They cleaned up everything very well and were nice to work with!

The service was fine overall. They were delayed in the very beginning, since there was a crack in the window, but we were able to re-schedule everything without any problems. The installation went well too.

The appointment lasted for 3 hours - the guy went on and one and on. We had difficulty remaining polite. The first thing I noticed is he didn't introduce himself. Finally my husband did the introductions. Really? This is sales 101. When we finally managed to get to the pricing, the presentation was confusing. Three prices were quoted: about $20k if we signed immediately, about $27k if we signed by end of month, and about $29k price good for one year. The price quoted by Home Depot was about $11k. We really don't care to hear the details of how salespeople are compensated, etc. The salesman ignored me unless I asked pointed questions and talked directly to my husband. It's been a long time since I've been treated in such a blatantly sexist manner. We did not appreciate the high-pressure tactics. I finally told the guy he was acting as badly as a rainbow vacuum cleaner salesperson. Didn't phase him a bit. H*** will freeze over before we purchase anything from this company. I hope they start calling us repeatedly as other reviewers have reported. I'll teach them a few new words.

A time was scheduled for the window and door replacements. We were called a few days before the scheduled installation and told that although all of the windows were made locally, the doors were made in New Jersey and they would be delayed due to hurricane Sandy. We were given the option of keeping the scheduled time to do the windows and then scheduling a second day on which to install the doors after they came in. We choose to wait and have everything done at the same time. On the scheduled day, they called early and told us they were on the way. A fairly large crew came which included a lead manager for the job. They went over what they would be doing with us before starting and then started unloading their trucks and sorting and tagging everything. Subsequently a higher level manager came by to go over what was being done and to be sure we were comfortable with what was being done and to answer any questions we had. The project manager who had written the final contract with us then came over and went over the details of some of the special situations that we had to make sure that it fully understood what was to be done. The men were here for about 12 hours. They had told us earlier that they would stay until the entire job was completed, the work was reviewed by a supervisor and we were shown how to operate the new windows and doors and fully understood the features of the new structures. They did an excellent job. They laid down drop cloths everywhere they'd be working and when they were finished, they removed the drop cloths and vacuumed all around the areas where they had worked. They didn't leave any dust, tools, old wood or anything except for the final product. They washed all of the windows and doors, both inside and outside. Two different levels of managers came to the house when the job was completed about 9:00PM to assure that everything had been done according to what was promised and what we expected and that included the project manager who wrote the final contract. They did an incredible job. We went from a situation where there was rotted wood and leaky windows and doors (both air and rain) to a situation where we have beautiful, maintenance free windows and doors with no air leakage and no water leakage. We could have gotten the job done more cheaply with lesser quality windows and doors and by companies that were less highly rated than Thompson Creek was on Angie's List. We've indicated a A rating for price since they charged us exactly what they had indicated the cost would be even though they ended up having to do more work and use more materials than originally planned where they found hidden damage. They gave a guarantee that they would fix or replace anything we had a problem with for any reason and also guaranteed that we could have additional windows and doors replaced at the price the sales price they were quoting then even if the prices were to go up. Although we made a very large investment, we're completely satisfied with every aspect of the job.
