It turned out well. It took about 4 days to complete the work. Everything pretty much went smoothly and if not they fixed it quickly.

Crew arrived on time. They were very efficient and careful in removing old door and trim. They were just as careful and efficient in installing new door. The crew chief spent a lot of time making sure that the door and trim were aligned and fit properly. My wife and I are very pleased with the look and sturdiness of the door.

We contacted Thompson Creek for a window quote; when we indicated that we were also looking at replacing our gutters, the salesperson also gave us information about gutters. Although both quotes (windows and gutters) were the most expensive that we had received, we were certain that we were going to receive a superior product and service...and we did. From start to finish, they communicated their intentions. The onsite crew, although did not speak great English, were on-time and professional. The entire project took one day (which was surprising!) and they completely cleaned all areas of work. Mid-way thru the work, 2 other representatives came to my house and were also very helpful. We are very happy with the results and are considering them for the windows when we decide to do those.

I chose Thompson Creek because what I was looking for was one company who would do the work from end to end. Manufacturing to installation. I think there were four people that I dealt with mostly. Charles, the salesman was great and very knowledgeable about his product. Then there was another fellow who was the factory rep who kept me up to date about the manufacturing process and told me when and how things would happen. The installers Jose and Mohammed were really outstanding though. I was really impressed with the installation. Everything was cool really, from the people who arranged and set everything up, to the salesman who was good with demonstrating the product and all that. However, once the installation crew got on the scene, you could tell that Jose and Mohammed worked proficiently and that they obviously knew what they were doing. At one point I went outside and the debris from the trim work was a mess all over the yard, but when I went out for the final inspection it was immaculate. They did a great job of cleaning up the mess in the yard. Watching my money get spent was worth it. They were really good and I am pleased with the windows overall. New windows will make any house look better, but I compared these windows with some other new ones and you can really tell the quality of the Thompson Creek product. Thompson Creek has a great product. The craftsmanship and workmanship by the manufacturer of the product is terrific. The installers are professionals and they did an excellent job. Aside from the new windows, you would never even know that they were here. It was an excellent job

they were prompt. They cleaned up after themselves and they waited until i tested the door and showed me all the new features.

Never had any work done due to the attitude of the scheduler and requirements.

I put 1/1/12 for the date of the estimate because I do not remember the exact date. It was either in 2011 or early 2012. A rep. was in the neighborhood and asked me if I wanted an estimate to replace my gutters. I agreed and he took the measurements and proceeded to start a lengthy presentation. His estimate was very high. After several conversations with him and his supervisor, they reduced the price several times until we agreed upon the price. Before signing the contract, I asked to see their warranty. I was shocked to discover that items that I was verbally told was covered were excluded under the warranty. When I brought this to the attention of the supervisor, he told me it was their practice to repair those items. I asked him to put it in writing and he told me their lawyers would not allow him to do so. I did not proceed with the job. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU REVIEW THE WARRANTY AND NOT RELY ON VERBAL REPRESENTATIONS. AS A RESULT OF THIS EXPERIENCE, I WOULD NOT HIRE THEM FOR ANY WORK.

Thompson Creek and their staff were wonderful; from the sales person to the actual measurement and cutter person to the installers and the project manager. All the staff were professional, punctual, responsive to any questions that I had and offered suggestions and wanted to make sure that I understood what was going to be done. The project manager came to inspect the job after it was completed and wanted to make sure that I was satisfied. I called the office to ask a question and received a response immediately. I am very pleased with their product. I will definitely use Thompson Creek again.

All in all the whole process went really well, I couldn't be much happier. Price & product: The price we were quoted on the siding was among the lowest we received. Not only that but Thompson Creek's product seemed superior to the others' as well; Their siding comes with an inch-thick layer of foam attached to the siding which has an R value of three, so you're getting more insulation with your siding. None of the other offers we received had this. We opted for the soffit with hidden vents. The additional cost was minimal but it really enhanced the look of the house. Scheduling and installation: On the day of the installation the guys showed up on time and got right to work. The team members were respectful and pleasant, which was really nice. The quality assurance manager stopped by to make sure everything was going well. We were scheduled a two-day installation but the guys got done in a day, what a pleasant surprise. The only negative in this was that we had to wait for four weeks for our installation because they didn't have two-day time windows available before. So we ended up waiting for a much longer time to get a two-day window and ended up using only one after all. It's all good though, because they stuck to the schedule and got it done faster than planned. Added bonuses: After the installation I noticed a couple of spots where I hoped they'd caulked a little more. I mentioned this to the account manager and he had the quality assurance manager come fix it. He really put effort into fixing it and making it right, which I really appreciated. On the morning of the installation, the team lead said they would have to work around our downspouts that were installed in a very, very weird way (the old owner actually put plywood on the side wall basically pinning the downspout between the old wall and the new layer of plywood - wth???). I did not realize this until after the work was complete, but these guys actually pulled the downspout out, installed a beautiful corner post and reinstalled the downspout outside the wall as it should be. I thought that showed that they really want to do a good job. My guess is a shadier contractor would've put the corner post over everything and burying the downspout further where it shouldn't be. Based on my experience with Thompson Creek I can wholeheartedly recommend them for siding projects. Yes, it's a little weird that they ask both adults to be at home a the time of the initial appointment but don't let that turn you off. We jumped through the hoops and ended up getting really good looking siding for a great price.

Thompson Creek Window Company sent people out who explained everything really well about what they were going to do, when, and what it would cost. They thoroughly explained what type of windows and they managed to give us no interest financing if you paid it off within 3 years. They were very professional, proceeded to do exactly what they said they would, when they would and it was very good. I will probably use them again fairly soon.

This is the second time I have used Thompson Creek and I have been extremely pleased - from the knowledge of the sales person to the actual installation. The installers came to house and had me check the new door before the installation began. Within an hour they had taken out the old door, side paneling and frame. The new door and paneling were installed along with the storm door. The workers were very careful not to mark the walls around the door as we had just had the house painted. They showed me why I was having such bad drafts with the old door and frame. they cleaned up behind themselves and I have no complaints at all. Thompson creek came back out to adjust the storm door and install a peep hole for us. David Chambers was the service technician. He was charming and professional and did a spectacular job in adjusting the storm door and getting the peep hole in. all of the service staff at Thompson Creek has been wonderful but David is definitely the best.

The pricing was way to high compared to the other prices we were hearing.

It was fine. They came, when they said they're going to do it, they came and did it. The most important thing for us was that we had a leak, the window was messed up when it would rain really bad it would leak inside the house. They fixed it, we were very happy about it and it's not raining since. I'd give them an A across the board, I think they did a great job.

Beware of Thompson Creek ?Slider Windows? I just had Thompson Creek replace most of the windows of my home. Most of these were ?slider? windows, the type that one pushes left or right in a track to open. I wrote a very favorable review just after the installation but wish to revise that material, based on my experience with the windows after a week of rain. For 35 years, I had slider windows in my home and never had a problem with rain water on the inside track of the window, ie, inside the house. After the installation of the Thompson Creek slider windows, I immediately had major problems of water in the tracks of the windows that faced east or west and were not under an overhang of the roof. The water just stayed in there. You could float a tiny boat in them. Four days later after my call, Thompson Creek sent out the supervisor of the project who said everything was just as it should be and explained that it was quite normal to have water in the tracks and that there were two tiny ?weeping? exits for it to go out and down. He was very positive of this and that nothing needed to be done and left so quickly that it only occurred to me afterwards to pour some new water into the tracks and see what happened. I did and had the same result. When I looked outside the windows to find the weeping holes the supervisor had mentioned, I noticed that they were closed and there was no evidence that any water had come out. I pulled up the tiny plastic covers over them and tiny streams of water spurted out. I decided to just pull off these tiny covers. Now I can write that most of the water eventually goes out of the track inside my home and the exterior track but that some water remains. The supervisor had mentioned that it would evaporate over time. I chose to use a sponge and paper towel to dry the channels and now realize that each time this happens I will need to do this. The salesman had given my wife and me an hour?s presentation about their wonderful windows but never once mentioned that we could regularly expect to see water on the inside tracks of our windows. He did spend a good amount of time talking about the fact that his company?s windows would save us energy through resisting heat and cold. Apparently, the Federal Trade Commission did not agree and sent them a warning letter (see: http://ftc.gov/os/2012/08/120829windowsthompsonletter.pdf) I have to admit that I do notice that the windows seem to resist the heat well. After the supervisor left and I realized that I still have a problem and he had not even checked it with water in the tracks, I tried calling several people in the company. I first asked for my salesman?s number as he had seemed quite trustworthy. The operator told me that she could not give it out and that they normally did not talk to customers after their sales calls. She did switch me to his supervisor who professed to be quite shocked and concerned. He had me talk to a lady who I believe was the assistant to the head of project management. She professed to be quite concerned and said she would call me back in 45 minutes and talk to both the supervisor and my project coordinator. Two days later, no one had called me back. I called the project coordinator and asked him if that lady had met with him. She had not. I told him I thought I had solved most of the problem by removing the previously closed covers of the weeper holes but mentioned that I still had a little water. He didn?t propose anything and I have given up trying to get anything further done. Here is my advice to people considering a Thompson Creek slider window and in dealing with Thompson Creek: 1. Don?t buy this unless you don?t mind seeing water regularly in the interior sills of your windows. Look for a product like our original windows that had a small window that slid across the screen and sealed the tracks from any rain that might blow in. Or better yet, spend some more money and get the vertical ?sash? windows that do not seem to have this issue. I saw several comments by contractors on the Internet that they do not like to use slider windows because of the problem of water in the tracks. It is not a problem unique to Thompson Creek Windows. 2. Don?t expect to be able to talk to your salesman after his warm visit. Thompson Creek won?t give you his number and doesn?t like you to talk to him. 3. Try to go and see an actual installation of the product your are considering. Thompson Creek had no good pictures of their sliding window on their website and the salesman only had a crude corner of a window that did not contain the screen or give a full picture of how the window works. 4. When you are able to talk to someone in the Thompson Creek office, get their name and telephone number. I made the mistake of believing they would call me back as they said. Update - 1 week after I wrote the above review It has rained almost every day since I wrote the above review. Since I have made sure that the "weepers" are open, I must report that I have not experienced rain on the inside track of the affected windows. There was a residual pool of water in the center of the outside tracks that evaporated after several hours of dry weather. So I realize that my water problem is not so great as it originally seemed to be. Still, I advise prospective buyers of the slider windows to be aware of how they function regarding rain water.

They have a very good customer service, they're efficient and they have reasonable prices.

Arrived on time, covered the floors with cloths, systematically went through the house preparing the old windows for removal. Sounds easy but this house had a complicated alarm system that was removed years ago and half of the windows would not open! No way , no how! We had the AlanK2 team , in case you want our same crew which consisted of Oscar, Abner and Carlos. Jessie stopped by twice just to check the work and make sure everything was being done to Thompson Creek's standards. Our contact with TC called mid-day to make sure we were happy. After reading a lot of reviews of this company, I thought a thousand installers would show up and take over the house! Only 3 came but that was all that was needed. If they stopped for lunch, we surely didn't know it! They worked steadily through the day. Our sad 1968 built home perked up and smiled by the end of the day! What a difference! We live in Chartwell in Severna Park and while we are not supposed to be in the flight zone for BWI, you cannot prove that to my husband at 6 am in the morning when the overseas flights wake us up on a daily basis. As I write this, the planes have been flying over for 30 mins and he is still sleeping! I interviewed a number of window companies but Thompson Creek's design impressed me most. I did not want a brass closure that stood out , and the rubber gasket that seals the top and bottom of the screen from water and dirt also attracted me. I liked the wide grills within the glass and was impressed that they were not an upgrade but part of their standard design. I am a real estate agent and if any of my clients ever ask me who to call if they need to replace windows, I can heartily say Thompson Creek!!!!

I contacted Thompson Creek for two reasons: 1) A friend has used them back in 2004/5 and was happy with the experience; 2) They were highly rated by this service (Angie's List). Prior to this morning, I had two interactions with this company around defining the scope of work and setting an appointment to evaluate. I was irritated and offended by the company's intake process on both occasions -- sufficiently so that I realized I did not want to do business with the company, regardless of the quality of the work or the price that might ultimately eventuate. Though I understand that the process TC employs is meant to optimize their sales force time, it is also patronizing and intrusive. On the first call, I was told that "the representative would make the determination of work to be done," and that I needed to commit to an hour meeting. Ultimately, I will determine the scope of work to be done with advice from their professionals. This is a significant difference. The intake person seemed to have no idea that a client might have rights -- or expertise -- in this matter. I originally committed to hearing their sales pitch out. Though, truthfully, if they were not able to do the job I wanted, what would be the point of that? On the second call, the representative quizzed me on the title to the property, whether I had authority to contract for work. This is understandable, since I have had a name change since the property was entered in the state database. However, it was done in what I found to be a confrontational manner. Once again, I had to commit to hearing the whole sales pitch. The next question was whether "my husband" needed to be present for decision-making. I should have canceled the appointment at this juncture, but I slept on it. It was clear to me that this would not be the sort of collaborative, problem-solving relationship with a contractor that I was looking to develop. This is not a service provider for clients who don't fit their cookie-cutter mold.

We looked into other vinyl replacement window companies and liked the professionalism, quality, and services offered by Thompson Creek the best. Just the other week I was glad we chose them over similar companies we considered, even though Thompson Creek was slightly more expensive, but their windows look better too IMO. Our window installation came with a guarantee for replacement, if we should ever have a window break, even if it was our fault. They have needed to come out twice since the original install three years ago, once when my husband pulled too h****** a lock and two screws came out of the vinyl (usually their windows aren't installed this way, but we had a special case with weird crawlspace windows), and again when my son accidentally broke a window practicing archery. Our only regret is that we didn't replace our windows sooner!

I could not make it through the annoying questions. I'm single and he could not get over the fact that there were no other decision makers that would be there. I have been on a lot of calls with contractors and congratulations...this was the most annoying.

The quality of the windows and doors are great and we are very pleased with them. We did have a couple issues with the person who came to measure things because he did not do what he was supposed to do. He measured and ordered for the wrong storm door, and when the installation day came, the storm door they brought was not the right one. Luckily they were able to install the rest of the windows and sliding door, but we had to wait an additional 3 weeks to have the storm door replaced since they had to re-order it. This was an inconvenience to us because we then had to schedule another installation day, when it could have all been done on the initial installation day. Another issue with the guy who did the measurements, was that he did not give us a copy of the lead documents. My husband did sign the document that day, but we never received a copy of it, so I was not aware that the paint in our house contained lead until the installation day when signs were posted outside of our house. I just found out that I am pregnant, so now this is a major concern for me. Overall, aside from these issues, we have been happy with the work that Thompson Creek has done. The quality of the products are top notch, and the guys who came to do the installation were respectful and kept things clean. We just wish we had a different person come to do the measurements. Apparently, that guy is no longer working for Thompson Creek anymore, which is good for other customers, but we weren't that lucky.
