Thompson Creek Window Company

The sales rep who came to my home said he had been working for the company for 3 years - yet he couldn't diverge from the "sales script" at all. He kept asking me why I wanted new windows-- I had told the original scheduler and told him when he got there that the windows had mold between the panes (he could clearly see that) and needed to be replaced. Nonetheless he kept coming back to why I wanted to replace the windows and what I "value" in a window. ALL I wanted was a good faith estimate! Also, when I asked if he had colors for the vinyl he said no - "they would be white like the ones you have". I pointed out that the current windows are off-white/tan and were ordered that way to match the stain on the house. He told me I was wrong and that I had white windows. We walked through the house so that he could see and measure the windows. He left off one in the living room and when I pointed it out he said "Oh - you want that replaced too"? It should have been obvious by the mold in between the panes.... We ended on a sour note as he said I had to sign a form indicating that I didn't want a special "deal" they were offering (which would have had me agree to social media contact I wasn't comfortable with). I told him I wasn't going to sign it as it had nothing to do with an estimate for the work. He then said "well I can't leave you numbers", packed his things and left. I see from the reviews that some people have had good experiences with this company so perhaps it was the sales rep I happened to get.

From the time I met with the rep, I felt very comfortable that I was being listened to as far as what kind of patio door I wanted. My husband is working overseas, and I made it clear that we have been in communication regarding the patio door as far as price and style. I felt that Thompson Creek was very customer oriented, and I received a lot of good suggestions about what would work with the patio. The workmen were prompt and professional, making sure they cleaned up after themselves. Once the door was installed, one of the workers explained how the door locked from the inside and out; he also explained that if anything got damaged such as the screen they would come out and fix it free of charge. They did an outstanding job on the installation!

Thompson Creek replaced all my windows and metal pans/sills. The crew was very punctual, courteous, professional and clean. They took extra care by covering all the furniture up so that nothing would get damaged in the house and made it a pleasurable experience. I was super impressed with the windows and warranty on the initial sales visit, that's why I wanted them. I was just as impressed with the crew in all aspects of the job, even how they cleaned up every step of the way. I would highly recommend them if you are considering new windows. This is not as much a review as it is a word of warning to those interested in pricing out new windows. I was greeted at my home by a Thompson Creek sales rep. At the time I had 5 basement windows I wanted to replace. I wanted a basic white vinyl canopy or hopper style standard sized window. The rep made calls and had me talk to someone. All very official. I set up a date to meet with someone to talk about prices. Why the rep couldn't have done some ballpark estimates for me onsite is beyond me, but whatever... I set up an appointment. No problem so far. Then, a few days before my appointment, I get a courtesy call confirming my appointment, which I appreciated. However, the person on the phone talked about how the rep was coming with a bunch of samples of vinyl colors and window options. This irritated me because (as stated in the previous paragraph AND the rep who came to my door) I knew what I wanted in a window, and what I needed more than anything from Thompson Creek was a price and a time-frame. And, I told her this (nicely) and she said there are many options available and the rep would be going over them with me. Well, that was enough for me; I cancelled the appointment. I hate high-pressure sales covering everything especially when I know what I want. Also, I have installed windows before, but I just didn't want to install these windows because I had a baby on the way at the time. Here's is my warning to potential customers. Thompson Creek continues to call repeatedly and send emails despite asking to be removed from their list multiple times. Furthermore, they call my cell phone while I'm at work. In retrospect, maybe I could have patiently listened to the sales pitch. I may have if I were interested in main-floor windows, but these were plain basement windows. I'm not commenting on the quality of their product or their workmanship, but their high-pressure sales really turns me off from considering their services in the future.

From the sales staff to the installation crew, these folks were professional and responsive all the way.

The salesperson spent a little longer trying to "sell" me on the windows than was necessary. I already know the quality was good and just wanted the pricing. It was competitive at the high end and I was really interested in good windows so I went for it and haven't been sorry. Installation was quick and painless and I'm very happy with the windows. Although the price was higher than some others, I felt it was worth it. I wish I'd had Thompson Creek do the windows in my new sunroom.

We definitely got our money's worth with Thompson Creek. Our project manager went out of his way to accommodate our special needs and their window installers expended the extra hours needed in order to make sure the job was done right. They did all this without any extra cost. They quoted a price and they kept their promise to do the job right. They also made sure they left our home cleaner than when they first arrived. When the three man work crew got to our bay window, they realized there was extensive mold damage and rot which required additional time and attention to remedy. Something that neither Thompson Creek nor we realized during the initial assessment. But their installer Bill German spent 2 extra days to make sure that all the rotten damage was replaced and that our new bay window was noticeably better than the one it replaced!! I'm sure he was under pressure to finish the job faster after the second day, but true to his professionalism and pride in workmanship, Bill insisted on getting the job done right by spending a third day on the job. He was kind and courteous despite the 2 day overrun and his dogged attention to detail and customer service truly impressed us. Overall, Bill is a testament to Thompson Creek's professionalism and a credit to their quality service. Thanks to Bill's extra effort, we will make sure that our neighbors in our townhouse complex consider Thompson Creek first for window replacement!! Thank you Thompson Creek. And a special thank you to Bill German!!

In my opinion this provider did an excellent job in all phases of this contract. We scheduled the date of service earlier this summer. When that day came a crew of 5 guys showed up at 8:30 AM and started removing the old aluminum siding. The same crew arrived on time each of the following 3 days until the job was complete. Throughout this period they showed themselves to be highly professional, responsive, and efficient. It was apparent that these guys had done this before. As you might guess with a job of this size we had lots of little not-so-obvious details that needed to be addressed. These guys nailed each and every one without needing to be reminded. Also, a project manager/quality assurance guy stopped by each day to make sure things were going smoothly, answer questions, and explain things. The only (slightly) negative aspect was the cost. We had received bids from several other siding contractors. While Thompson Creek's quote was lower than the others, I can't help feeling that if we had continued to shop around we may have found somebody to do the job for less. The bottom line: we were impressed with the product, the service, and the lifetime transferable warranty. As it turns out, our expectations were not misplaced. I can't say how the place will look 1, 3, or 5 years from now, but overall I'm very impressed with the work performed-- quite literally it looks like a brand new house on the outside.

Removal of old windows and sliders, new vinyl trim and sealing...clean up! All done in one day and quite professionally! Clean up was great! When we noticed that one door was missing quarter trim..they were back the next week and did the install. Great salesman...no pressure....super installation staff and great follow up. Super pleased with product...noise reduction from outside is remarkable!

When I called them, the service representative explained that there would be a 10-day delay to service the repair. The service representative said I had wood exposed and that they would pay for repairs if I got water damage from the rain. They called me back an hour later to explain that the repairman would be there the next day. It is debatable whether I will hire them again.

Install went smooth....guys were swift but made sure it was done right...both installers were hard working, and any problem they came across they never panicked and found a solution quick. Cleaned up every scrap of metal from the yard, and didn't leave until it was done. My only issue was, when I called them to get an estimate--they told me it once they got here, their presentation would take 90 minutes---it was a 4 1/2 hour sales pitch...that kind of irked me. I still bought the windows, since their craftsmanship and such impressed me. But how (why) did it go from a 90 minute presentation to 4 1/2 hours? And, while the windows were a good price, they also priced a new front entry door---THAT price was outrageous---more than the windows and slider I did buy. If I ever need windows again, they're who I'd call---but for front doors? Not so much. The next day I noticed a small tear in a screen, and what looks like an imperfection in the glass in one of the windows--and they had no hesitation in setting up a day to remedy both.

Thompson Creek has an efficient customer relations management (CRM) system that supports retail business. Communication with Thompson Creek in May was positive. The CRM representative stated they didn't have time to get to it quickly. They asked if I could forward pictures of the damage. I sent pictures to them. I contacted Thompson in June to set up a time for them to come out and assess the damage. Nothing happened. I contacted the CRM representative a few more times. He was pleasant and let me know he was working with Management. Finally Management decided they had to process a warranty claim. I was then contacted by Erie Insurance. I found Erie very frustrating to deal with. They work at a snails pace. Finally in July Erie sent a man out to look at the damage. He found the area where the leak was and stated that most likely it is not the gutter that is leaking, but had to perform an analysis of his data?. I told him that Thompson had installed new fascia, improperly sealed the area adjoining the gutter, and used a solution for the downspout and baffling system above this area that heavily floods the damaged area; he paid no attention to me. It is clear that his purpose is to determine how to avoid servicing the warranty claim. I received a couple more calls from the Erie insurance representative who had excuses for his process that were not my concern and could never seem to remember my name. Finally, after three months, I received a call from Erie that my roof was not constructed properly and needed a kick plate at the bottom as the reason that they will not service the claim. By the way, he didn't know what a kick plate was. It is also clear that Thompson is not responsible for anything but the guttering itself (the warranty uses the term workmanship in a way that one would interpret to be ALL WORKMANSHIP). So, ithe Thompson warranty doesn't cover all the workmanship ( the fascia installation and associated sealing done by Thompson actually caused the leakage in this case. The bottom line is BUYER BEWARE. The Thompson Creek warranty service is poor at best, focused on protecting Thompson from any exposure; and, there is no customer advocacy in the process. I could have saved a couple thousand dollars and gone with a reputable firm that would have provided the same quality. I estimate repairs will cost up to $500 to repair. More disappointing is the time wasted.

They were wonderful! They came out immediately to measure after we spoke on the phone. The representative was very articulate and came to our house to make the sale. They came right on time and they were efficient. They cleaned up after themselves. It has been raining non-stop here and we can see they did a good job. They gave great suggestions for the gutters. We talked about putting another downspout in and that really took the pressure off and made the gutters more efficient.

It was great! We couldn’t have asked for anything better. The cost was about $1,000 per window.

It was awesome. They were really good. You can tell it was well insulated. I had French doors there before. The people who put those in did a bad job. It’s so much nicer now and the price was reasonable. They were on time and kept in touch with me during the installation process.

It was fine. They broke a shutter while they were working. They tried to patch it. They completely replaced the shutter after we asked them about it. We had to make sure things got done right with the replacement.

There was a separate crew for each of the two jobs, each being specialized in the respective work.

They adjusted their bid with us because we had a competing bid. They lowered their bid way down. Their prices were originally 25% higher than the competing bid. Their end price came very close to the competing bid. We went with Thompson Creek Window because we liked their windows better. The quality of the product and workmanship was perfect. I would suggest getting a competing bid if you work with Thompson Creek Window to get their offer in perspective.

They were fantastic! They gave me a discount. It was an excellent price. Everything went very well. They cleaned up behind themselves. They just did an excellent job!

It turned out okay. It was great. Everything went smoothly. They sent an inspector out after it was done to ensure quality. There turned out to be one problem with one of the windows. They were prompt with replacing it, only took about 3 days.
