Thompson Creek Window Company

Thompson Creek Window Company did a really good job. It was kind of pricey but they were really good. There were some people up the street that had them done too that's why we had them do it. We've had some torrential downpour and no water in the house. They redesigned the downspouts and now it just works perfectly. They didn't use as much material so they reduced the cost to about $400. They were very professional. They did the job in one day. They came out, did a rough estimate then somebody came out and measured everything. Then they formed the gutters in place right here on the house. About a week later, a crew came out and installed them. It was pretty quick. I'm really happy. They're really good to deal with and very easy. I think I would use them again. When they were doing the job, they had a quality guy come out and checked the house. That's when they discovered that there was a lot less damage than it looked like from the outside.

The whole process was very professional. Everyone did as they said they would. I had estimates for the job from a well known home improvement store. Even though the Thompson Creek estimate was more money I felt there was a significant quality difference - even more the product would be installed by seasoned, trained, professional Thompson Creek employees. Two gentlemen came to do the installation. They were professional, pleasant, and did the most amazing job. Being the outside was a window well, it was a job with some challenges. I was so pleased with everything and had no worries at all. Everything was so well done, I was beyond pleased. Too my amazement after this great team left, here came another Thompson Creek Truck. I thought the guys must have left something or forgotten something. Nope, it was a team leader and another gentleman. They asked if they could take a look at the installation. Vince, a team leader, inspected all the windows downstairs. Opened them, inspected them. Made sure they were all meeting their quaility standards - and took the time to explain in detail parts of the windows, what went into the installation, the finishing, movement of the windows and was pleased with the job Brandon (Brendan) and Andrew had done. So, for anyone out there, go with a quality product, a company that has their own installers - well trained and PROFESSIONAL staff, and a great warranty....it's your house! Thompson Creek really does what it says it will and MORE!

Crew showed up at appointed time ,and crew leader introduced himself and gave me a rundown on what to expect during installation process. Crew worked efficiently, and job was completed a little ahead of schedule. All clean up inside and outside of house was done satisfactorily. When job was completed, any questions I had about operation of windows were answered. I was impressed by the efficiency of the crew working on the installation.

For the last 7 years, we have had plastic over our windows. It was awful! We called Thompson Creek and now we love our Windows! They were very professional during the appointment process. Our sales guy was very knowledgeable, he had props, and he spent 3 hours at that first appointment explaining his product and why they were different. Luckily, we had already had a couple other appointments, so we were ready to make a decision. We took advantage of their financing, it was really easy to apply and pay for the windows. They were great at communicating with us through the process of measuring, production, and scheduling. At the day of the install, the installers were also very professional. They covered all of the walkways and window areas with drop cloth, and systematically went about removing our windows. They were really friendly to our dog, who was very curious about what was going on. Within a couple of hours they had all of the old window removed, and the new windows in place. Then, they spend the next 4 hours trimming, caulking and cleaning all they windows. Installers vacuumed the floors and removed all of the debris they created in the window removal process. We are in love with our new windows, and hope to never have to buy windows again. We would highly recommend Thompson Creek.

After the salesman measured all the windows and doors. He worked out the price and a week later a fellow came out and did the final measurements. Then within two weeks a crew of seven arrived and started the work on time.They were working on all levels of the house at once. In two and a half days they were done. They cleaned their work areas as they went along so there was not a lot of clean up work left. The crews were very well mannered and answered all questions. The house looks great.

Having used the company before to replace and install two double hung windows in my dining room area, I had no qualms about calling them to replace my old picture window with a new bay window. The salesman helped me work out the details of the type of side windows that would fit my purpose. The measure technician was very thorough and put my mind at ease that it would all fit. The Thompson Creek workers arrived within the time promised on the day of the installation.. The workers efficiently removed the old picture window and very carefully installed the bay window. It was a perfect fit. They were very neat, leaving behind no waste.

For years, I have been living with windows, which date from about 1968. They were not insulated, and not double paned, which meant the room was always cold in winter. Having used Thompson Creek a few years ago to replace three patio sliding doors, and because I was very pleased with their quality of both the product and the installers, I called them again for these windows. They measured the windows, told me exactly when they would be ready and when the windows arrived in their warehouse, and they didn't passed their quality control, they had the windows redone until they were satisfied. Although this postponed the installation, I was pleased that they did not want to install the original windows. They arrived first thing in the morning, as promised, and there was a supervisor with them. After the supervisor left, the two workman covered the floors with their drop cloths and went right to work. I couldn't believe that they could install 12 feet of windows in one day, but they did. They were efficient and quiet, and worked steadily. By mid afternoon, they were finished, cleaned up inside and outside. There was no damage to anything inside my living room, or outside in the yard. They showed me how the windows and the screens opened and locked, And the windows look beautiful. One of the reasons for hiring Thompson Creek was their guarantee that if anything happens to any of the windows, they will replace it free. Since I live on a golf course, and have had broken windows before, this was important to me. Also, the windows were tempered glass and insulated, which I was told would help greatly with my heating bills. I look forward to being able to spend some time in my living room this winter. The windows were not inexpensive, but then, anything of quality is not. And they will work with you on pricing, and help with a payment plan.

I used Thompson Creek because I knew I had a lot of wood damage and they guaranteed they would fix or replace any wood damage for one set fee. No hidden costs. They allowed me to personally inspect every window and door frame for damage prior to installing each one. They even made repairs on areas in which they were not required. They did everything in two days as agreed. They cleaned up thoroughly and left no trace. I love the lifetime warranty and the fact that it has a one time transfer to the next buyer. They worked with me to change the installation dates at the last minute due to an unforeseen family commitment. I could have gone with a less expensive and smaller company, but in the end they would have nickeled and dimed me to death on all the wood damage repairs. They brought the right size crew for the job and they were all very respectful. I have already recommended them to all of my neighbors.

We have not made a decision yet, so windows have not been replaced. Windows seemed to be of high quality and would fix a number of issues we currently have. Presenter was enthusiastic, knowledgeable and friendly; answered all our questions. Measured all 25 windows to produce an estimate. Warranty covers just about everything. Concerns: Price was high (~$27,000 for 25 windows) and they use high pressure sales tactic. Update: We decided to go with another company and the windows have been installed. Price was slightly lower. Design of the windows were different, such as the security features, number of panes and how water drains from the windows and were what we were looking for based on issues with our old windows.

I rated this company overall with a D due to the utter lack of professionalism displayed by the company rep. We needed new windows for our home (12 total), so in the process of gathering competitive estimates from several contractors we scheduled an appointment with Thompson Creek. They were the only ones that insisted that both my wife and I be present for their 'demonstration' and estimate. The company rep came to our home at the appointed time, his appearance was clean and neat, his initial demeanor was courtesous and respectful. We discussed with him what we wanted as he measured our windows in various rooms. Then we all sat down for his 'presentation.' (We were not given the estimate we asked for until he completed his 'presentation.') This consisted of his badmouthing other compeitors and showing us various news/magazine articles which praised Thompson Creek. Then he tried to wow us by showing how a heat lamp produced very little heat through a sample of a Thompson Creek window compared to a single thin piece of untreated glass. I had sat down with several other window contractors in the preceding weeks, so this did little to enhance his sale. We just wanted to discuss the Thompson Creek product specifications, the warranty, and the final price. (NOTE to Thompson Creek: this is really all anybody wants when they request an estimate) When he finished the spiel, he provided us with an estimate, but not before making us 'guess' at what the price would be for ALL the wonderful features and warranty of a Thompson Creek product. (At this point I wondered if I was buying a used car or a set of new windows) After telling us the price,(which was outrageously high) then the haggling began. (NOTE to Angies List Members - buying windows is the new used car sale...be prepared to haggle intensely, as I understand things, very few window contractors give you a fixed price up front for an estimate) He lowered the price a little, we asked for a much lower price, he lowered a little more of what we asked. Back and forth it went. Finally he asked for what it would take to "make the sale right now." Thompson Creek reps work on commission and apparently get nothing if they don't make the sale then and there. My wife and I came up with two different numbers for 'making the sale.' He chose the higher one and stood up, approached me and forcefully extended his hand to shake mine to 'close the deal.' I shook his hand out of courtesy but made no promises of entering a contract. At this point his demeanor became much more forceful and less pleasant, much more adversarial and less courteous. He called the 'manager' to discuss this 'one-time special low price' for us. Of course he had to 'talk the manager into it,' and eventuall came back and said he could do it for the price if we posted a sign in front of our house advertising Thompson Creek and a few other consessions on our part. My wife and I did not agree on this price in the first place so we excused ourselves to discuss it. At that point we decided against signing the contract with Thompson Creek that day. We returned and told the rep we would not be signing a contract and that it when things got ugly. He practially demanded we sign the contract, and told me I shook his hand in agreement of the deal. I said no, that is not what i agreed to and he got visibly angry. At one point I thought I was going to have to call the police to get this person evicted from my home. But he finally got a clue that when we called to schedule the appointment for an estimate, an estimate is all we wanted. He made us sign a Thompson Creek document stating that we 'delcined' the 'one time special pricing.' All further communication with him might as well been with a brick wall. He was terse, refused to make eye contact with us, assumed an air or superiority, packed up his things and left. Overall he we punctual, and (initially) courteous, well spoken, prepared, knowledgeable of product information, but the utter lack of professionalism when he learned he wasn't going to make a sale (perhaps because he assumed we had went along with his spiel for so long he thought he had us hooked), was akin to a temper tantrum from my three year old. Absolutely pathetic. Thompson Creek: Your products appear very good/excellent as does your offered warranty. Your pushy sales practices (documented here and on several other reviews) need to be seriously addressed. We are forgiving people and would love your products for our home, but at this point, we would need not only an apology from the president of the company, but a least a 50% discount if you ever want our business.

This is the third time we've had Thompson Creek replace windows for us. The 1st time they replaced 2 windows in our living room and replaced French doors with a window in the same room. This meant major construction, framing in the window, replacing siding and drywall, for paint-ready finishing. You would never know that a rusty, leaking, floor damaging door had been in that room. Beautifully done, inside & out. Last fall we had 9 more windows replaced upstairs, and this fall, another 7 windows & 2 French doors replaced with sliders. Each crew was different, yet each crew was prompt, professional, and cleaned up superbly. I love the sliders so much better than the doors that were removed that were old, drafty, took up so much room when opened. The sliders slide quietly, easily, and fit perfectly. And the finishing is lovely on the windows & the doors. And our home is so much quieter, insulated from the noise outside. As I said to my husband, clothes and jewelry don't do it for me, but new windows and doors make me so happy; I haven't stopped smiling.

I had the windows replaced in my home in two stages. The front and sides of the home were installed in March. It was bitter cold. The crew arrived on time and did an exceptional job. The windows they replaced were the original windows from 1959. Also, due to the age of the home, it tested positive for lead. The crew took all the necesary precautions to capture all materials removed during installation. The wood around the picture window in the front of the house had to be replaced and they did a beautiful job. The old windows had been leaking for years and caused quite a bit of damage to the frame. In September, I had the remaining windows replaced on the back of the house. The order included "obscure" class in two bathroom windows. They really made a difference in offering greater privacy. Both crews performed the installation without flaw. They left the house clean of any debris both inside and out. I didn't have to do a thing. The two sales representatives were professional, detailed and personable. A Project Representative was sent after each installation to make sure everything was done to my satisfaction. I've received compliments from the neighbors on how nice the windows look. They have truly enhanced appearance and efficiency. Each point of contact I had from Sales Reps, Technicians, Project Coordinator, QA Reps were helpful and personable. I especially liked the fact that their factory is local. I would definitely recommend Thompson Creek.

We did our homework and talked to other 4 vendors. Even though 2 bids were lower, the quality that we saw at Thompson Creek's presentation won us over. We originally spoke with Thompson on November 24, 2012 and got a written a proposal from a very professional rep named Steve. After reviewing the cost, we decided to delay this purchase for a while and let Steve know. There was no pressure to go thru with the project and he told us that all of the quoted prices would remain in force for 1 year. We did call back in June 2013 and were disappointed to find that Steve was no longer with the firm. We were transferred to a manager who was excellent. He set up another rep to come and remeasure the windows and door again. We accepted a new estimate and scheduled the work. 4 installers came on a Tuesday morning and completed the work by 6:30p. They covered the furniture and our new carpet during the installation. Nothing was left behind - old windows/frames were removed. Our home is very comfortable now (no heat comes in outside). The sliding glass door is beautiful and glides effortlessly open and closed. Our curb appeal is beautiful and we get compliments from neighbors and friends. This replacement was long over due and our decision to go with Thompson Creek was the best company that we could of chosen. The warranty is excellent also. As we go through our first winter we will update this review.

We wrote a good faith check on Friday, 13th, and waited to hear if we were approved for financing. On Monday the check was cashed. We assume that means we are approved. On Tuesday we get a call that we aren't approved for financing. "OK, that is no surprise, when will our money be returned?" He said "Oh, I am sure it will be soon". Two weeks later we still don't have our funds returned. I wrote an email on their website and did not receive a reply or any kind of communication from the company. I had thought that Thompson Creek was a top-of-the-line company, but their cavalier attitude, lack of response, and their tardiness in returning our funds has been a great let down. We still have not had our monies returned to us. Tomorrow I will try calling the salesman that came to our house, Emmanuel, and am hopeful that he will get the ball rolling. We'll see....

I received 4 calls a couple of days before appointment, day before and day of. I was asked all the information all over again. Then I was told that if the egress window project would involve removing brick, mortar, blocks - that they could not do that work, but home show reps thought they could... Salesman did arrive on time. I showed him sliding door first. He said it could run up to $8000. I said that I had switched a door out to a french door in TX for $1200. He said that was TX and that his company not Home Depot! Then he said the lowest it could be would be $5000 at best, because they are custom doors. I said well, there is no point showing you the small window. I didn't realize your prices were so high. He wanted to look at it anyway. This window is a single piece of glass about 18in x 24in at the most. He said that would be too little to make an order at about $800. But I could add the slider door and this... I had asked all of this at the home show. Why didn't they just tell me they were an expensive company? Then the man asked me if he could use my restroom. I told him "no." He said 'no?" I repeated it. Then he left. I told him I was sorry that the home show people wouldn't just give me a ballpark figure and I wouldn't have wasted our time. He said, "I just did give you a ballpark figure." Smart alecks I don't need. Wasted a day waiting on him to come by to be rude.

Do's: Make sure that if you want to comparison shop that you get your other bids before Thompson Creek comes to your home. If you sign a contract while they are there - they give you an additional discount.

We made a number of phone calls looking for someone to replace our cracked bay window, and got phone estimates from nearly a dozen companies. Very few companies were willing to actually come out free of charge unless we agreed to their terms in advance. Thompson Creek came out, with no strings attached, and measured our window and gave us a free estimate. We had to sit through their 90 minute sales spiel but it was not a high pressure thing at all. Their price was about the same as most of my quotes. We chose to go with them and the whole process was very easy. I found them to be well coordinated when it came to making and keeping appointments. It took between 2-3 weeks for my window to be ready. I wish it could have been sooner, but I get that it's made to order. At the time, I just wanted the window replaced asap and I wasn't thinking about the difference that a better-quality window could make. Now, the room is more comfortable during the day and my houseplants are doing extremely well. I wish all my contractor experiences could go this smoothly. I would recommend them to anyone.

iI am very pleased with the business of Thompson Creek. They came out, in June 29, we talked about doors and windows, however I decided to do the door first. Thompson Creek found the financing for this project. They took care of everything and kept me in touch every step of the way. Finally the door was installed and I am very pleased with it. My next project will be windows from Thompson Creek.

The windows team was efficient and replaced all the windows in one day (two were scheduled). The siding team finished in about a week. Some of the windows are much harder to open than others. One has leaked. Several screens came with holes but were replaced. The screens for two windows were the wrong size. The interior trim was damaged on one window and not initially fixed. The fix ended up just being to caulk the missing chunk of wood. The windows were supposed to be cleaned initially to remove the protective coating but had to be scheduled 3 times to have completed. The two largest shutters were delayed due to Thompson Creek trying to determine if they had the right size. Communication was bad in that they never responded to let us know. When the shutters came, they were damaged but were replaced. A supervisor only checked with us once total for both projects. The work area was not cleaned well and nails left behind ended up puncturing two of our car tires. The quality of the windows are an improvement over our previous windows. The siding adds extra insulation and we are happy with it. Based on the issues that we had, we would look elsewhere in the future.

We were very happy with them. They're big in this Washington Metro area. It was excellent and top quality. It was a great gutter system. You don't have to clean them off. They don't fill up with residue from trees and stuff like that. They are wider gutters and wider downspouts so they are able to handle the capacity of a heavy downpour. They also did a very nice job on the door. They were very energy efficient. They are a little on the high end of price line but they really do high quality work.

Everything went well. I look for companies that have a good reputation for customer service, dependability and quality work/product. The Thompson Creek staff met all of those qualities. They answered any questions that I had, kept me informed on the various steps between my order and installation and everyone showed up on time. As far as I can tell, the installers did a great job. Plus, someone came to check on their work and progress. After completion of the work, Thompson Creek contacted me to make sure that I was satisfied.

I saw a discount advertisement in the Washington Post for Thompson Creek windows. This discount gave me $150 off per window. I had to call and schedule the appointment in the next two days. They came the next day. The salesperson gave me a very thorough overview of the windows and why Thompson Creek with the best company. None of the windows in my home were standard size and needed to be custom-made. They quickly set up an installation date. I was called several times to confirm the date. The installers came promptly on the morning the installation as scheduled. They were very professional. This team worked very well together. It seemed they had worked together often. They quickly removed the old windows. Then installed the new Windows. I was impressed that they were professional, very competent, and quiet. It is important to me that workers in my home for Several hours are quiet. They cleaned up after themselves all through the day. They were very responsive any questions I asked. A supervisor came out while they were working and inspected their work. He also showed us how to open the windows for cleaning. I was very happy with not only the installation team but the windows themselves are very high-quality. I have already noticed that my bedrooms are not as hot as they were previously. The windows are already making a difference. I highly recommend Thompson Creek windows and customer service. The product, the service and installation work are excellent.

I think their price was fair. They offered to really undersell any other bids that I received and they had the type of goods that the other companies were giving. I have to say that the windows are all that they have said. I'm very pleased. It was overall a very good experience. I would recommend them. The windows work as advertised. In the initial stages, the right hand did not seem to know what the left hand was doing. They called me numerous times and I had to explain to them but I had to get approval once again from my Homeowner's Association and I would think that that would be a new record, apparently it was not or someone was not reading it. They called me about every week when there was a call period for my Homeowner's Association. Actually the work they did was excellent.
