Thompson Creek Window Company

The representative came out on a weekend and gave us a detailed estimate and explained all thefeatures of his company and the particular door we were interestde in. A week or so later another employee came out to measure our door frame for the door. About 3-4 weeks later the door was installed. There was a small problem with our actual front door not closing all the way, so a workman came out the next business day and adjusted our front door so that it would work with the storm door they had installed.

They were exceptional! Update: We have had a window replaced and a downspout tweaked. This company is EXCELLENT. They make everything easy and work with great care. Their professionals are simply the best.

The sales person was on time and friendly. When the man came to measure the doors, he found out that we could save money by installing a standard size storm door instead of a custom door. Unfortunately it took him 30 + minutes to confirm this information since the office was not fully staffed that day. Installation team was on time, and friendly. Work was completed as scheduled and the crew cleaned up everything. The doors look great. Unfortunately, one of the door handles fell off the first week and another had a loose screw. In both cases technicians were sent to fix the problem and the problem was solved, but it did mean that I had to be home to meet the technicians. They also serviced a sliding door that we had purchased eight or so years ago...no charge. The only change I could suggest would be to take less time talking about the company or having to call the home office for information and to tell customers ahead of time to buy new doorbell buttons. ( I didn't realize until the team was here that they would be willing to change out the doorbell buttons. The old ones don't go with the nice, new doors.) These doors are well constructed and are keeping the cold out and I would use the company again because they do stand behind their work.

We were very impressed by the quality of the work and the service provided by the installers as well as the foreman and manager. They worked quickly and efficiently and left my home as they had found it.

EVERYTHING WENT REALLY WELL,THID ID THE 2ND TIME I HAVE USED THEM.PREVIOUS DATE WAS NOV 2012 AND I STILL AVE 12 MORE WINDOWS TO GO!

They installed the complete system in one day. However, I messed up because I did not realize that then did not switch the down spots on one of the garages. After I notified them of my oversight, they came back out and switched the gutters at no extra cost. They also do an excellent job of cleaning up when they are finished.

The installation crew was professional and did good work. But with the exception of the initial sales rep who sold the job, my experience is that their sales people are pushy and insulting. Part of their sales pitch is the "lifetime guarantee", but it turns out that this has so many caveats as to be rather worthless. Because another contractor had removed a section to do their work, they did not come when I called them to reinstall and informed me that the warrantee was null & void. On another cold call at my front door, their salesman told me that even the installation of a rain barrel by the home owner would void the warrantee. This does not encourage repeat business.

Salesman was prompt and well prepared. Did not realize ahead of time that to get "extra discount" would have to make decision before he left. If had known woould have scheduled other estimates previously to this. Althought was told contact scheduler "Sara" would call me for work datethere was no response. I called and spoke to someone else to schedule a date which was almost 2 months ahead at my convenience and that I would be contacted prior to that date by "Sara". On Friday before installation on Monday still had heard nothing from anyone and called to see if still on schedule and ask questions which were answered by receptionist--no Sara. Workmen arrived promptly and worked till dark putting in all the windows. They also did a great job of cleaning up and hauling away. Was most pleased with their work and work habits. So far so good with the windows efficiency. Did a telephone survey for the company as to how the experience was but have never heard any thing back from them.

Fantastic. The job was done in one morning. Since then the house is cooler in summer and warmer this winter. They also installed a storm door on 22 March 2013. There was a light rain that morning and it was chilly, but the door was still installed and is PERFECT. After each service a supervisor came by to see if I was satisfied and he inspected the work done. TOP NOTCH!

Replaced all windows and door in sunroom.

Overall, it went GREAT! Pre: Requested an estimate which was performed at a convenient time and included a demonstration of the window. (I was not present). Estimate was comparable to others (or lower) and the product was felt to be superior. Scheduled: Job was scheduled with plenty of lead time. Day before: we called to make certain we were still on schedule due to frigid weather. (that day was the coldest on record for the area in many many years). Were informed that they had not worked that day, but would be there for our installation the next as the temp was supposed to be above freezing. Day of: Techs arrived prior to the 8-10am time scheduled, but didn't make contact until the supervisor (Dwayne) arrived at about 8:05am. Preparation: Locked cats in the basement to try & prevent them from "escaping". We were told to prepare for the windows that all windows needed a 2-3 ft unobstructed area in front of them as well as entrance/path through all doors to the windows. This was a bit difficult in a couple of the rooms and we were nervous that the work would be delayed. Dwayne made a quick inspection of the house and remeasured all windows and declared the job ready to proceed. All window treatments had to be removed. Hardware was left up, but would be removed by Thompson Creek and not re-installed. Good time to get drapes cleaned! Another note: preparation literature warns that the new caulk will have a noxious smell for about 24 hrs after installation- we noticed the smell for 4 days, but it was never so bad that we were nauseated or inconvenienced. Husband closed himself in the basement with the cats (and did laundry!) - I left to run errands & get breakfast. One thing to note: make sure vehicles are out of the driveway if you intend to leave! The installation truck arrived & parked in the drive before we realized it and would have been time consuming to move. Thankfully, I had another means of travel. :) At approximately 2:45pm windows were in and cleanup was underway. I arrived home at 3:30 and everything was completed. Was informed that a manager might show up later to make certain everything was okay. At about 4:30 Edgar arrived. After he captured one escaped cat, he asked if everything had gone okay & if we had any questions. Having not seen the demonstration I asked if he could show me; he was more than happy to and answered all of my remaining questions. Only thing I'm not sure of is what to do with the Thompson Creek advertising sign left behind on our front lawn? I don't mind advertising - they did a great job - but for how long? ... and don't they want the sign back? :D

The job was very well done. The communication was great, I had lots of questions and the cost for me was more than expected and I was a little uncomfortable. Beth "nursed me thru it all", she was fantastic. The confidence I had in the Thompson Creek "Team" and the comfort in moving forward with the project more than outweighed the cost. Everything from the measuring/estimate thru to the installation was a pleasant experience. Absolutely no disappointments. The installers, Marvin and Eric worked together like a professional figure skating team. Very little conversation, they just seemed to know each others next move. No forgotten materials, they knew each window location, no mistakes! The installation day was wet and very muddy but other than having beautiful new windows and having to turn the thermostat DOWN to 68 degrees, there was no evidence that they had been here at all. Thank you Thompson Creek Team!

They were punctual, professional, and took the time to clearly explain issues and offer options during the installation. It went very well.

We chose a different contractor to perform the work. Thompson Creek's initial price was over $9,000, but their "if you sign tonight" price was around $7,800. This scenario creates pressure to try and get you to sign right then and there. Our first two quotes were both around $5,800, so we couldn't justify spending so much more. Our fourth quote was around $6,500 and and he was selling a name brand window that based on reviews online seemed to meet or exceed Thompson Creek's windows (in my opinion). Based on this, we felt comfortable with our decision to pass on Thompson Creek and go with one of the three companies that came out, took measurements, showed window options, and followed up with a quote the next day. I am finishing this review late - the estimate was over 9 months ago and the work from our chosen contractor was completed 7 months ago. In that time, our energy bill has dropped almost a third so we have no regrets about going with a different company. I know Thompson Creek is a successful local company, but when people ask me who I recommend they call for quotes for their windows and doors, I don't recommend Thompson Creek due to their sales tactics and seemingly high prices.

This is a great company. I can't say enough about how great the customer service is. They are extremely responsive and professional and the crews they sent were top notch. We did this project in 2 visits. The 13 replacement windows were done first. They brought a large crew and did the job in one day. They arrived within the hour timeframe they gave and worked until the finished. They also left all areas spotless. The second job was the gutters and the two replacements that included construction. Again, they arrived within the hour timeframe given and even though it took longer than they anticipated, they stayed until it was finished that day -- at 6pm on a Saturday night. Again, clean up was wonderful. I also called their service because one of the sliding doors is just a little off in closing. They came out right away and are ordering a replacement for that part of the door. This company is fantastic. The only reason I gave them a B on cost is because they are more expensive. However, in my opinion their product and customer service makes it worth it.

What was supposed to have been and hour or so sales presentation and estimate turned into nearly three hours with various price pitches along the way.

I really didn't expect them to show. They showed up @ 8am sharp and worked untill 6pm. Crew of 5. We had 15 double hung and 1 casement window replaced.

About two months ago I purchased a home built in 1984. I planned to rent out some of the bedrooms to housemates, so I wanted to renovate the house to make it highly appealing. The front door was original to the house and it was an eyesore. I had originally planned to paint it, but eventually I decided that wouldn?t make much difference and that a new door was in order. A few things: 1. I purchased the doors in November and was told they?d be ready for installation in January. A few weeks later I was told that they would be ready five weeks early. That was a nice surprise. 2. I arranged to have the doors installed on a Friday. I got a call from the Project Coordinator informing me that the truck broke down and was awaiting a part. He told me a few hours later to tell me the truck was still awaiting the part, and eventually he called to say that the truck wouldn?t be fixed in time to do the installation. I appreciate that he was proactive and kept me informed of what was happening and why. We arranged for the installation team to install the doors the following day. This was another pleasant surprise, for I thought Thompson Creek didn?t usually perform installations on the weekends. The installation team consisted of two people who arrived on Saturday morning. Both were pleasant, professional and competent, and about 7 hours later they had installed both doors. I received yet another surprise when the installers handed me a document for each door that described its energy savings. Apparently the doors are eligible for an energy credit on my taxes. You can?t beat that! Tip: Buy the nice doors you really want, and resist the urge to go for a cheaper option. I was shocked when the salesperson quoted me a price of $19,000 for two doors. I never imagined two doors could cost anywhere *near* that much! However, my front door bumps my entire house up at least a notch on the perceived affluence scale; it will be a definite draw for housemates as well as buyers, and I expect to recoup the cost when I eventually sell the house. I?m sitting at my kitchen island typing this a day after the installation. I was trying to get some work done, but I was distracted by front door. It?s an amazing sight. It not only brightens my foyer tremendously, but I can see just enough of the branches swaying in the wind across the street that the door becomes a continually changing piece of living art. This was a very unexpected benefit that makes it worth the price. In conclusion, Thompson Creek?s reputation is very well-deserved. I?ve always been very functionally-minded and never imagined I?d be gushing over a door one day, but I have to praise quality products and service when I see them.

On time for date and time. Carlos & his assistant showed up on time and got right to work. I showed them where they could plug in their tools. Quality control was out in the middle of the day to check on them and me. It could not have been easier.

My experience with Thompson Creek began back in the Spring/Summer of 2012. They were doing another job in my neighborhood and had individuals canvassing the area handing out cards and scheduling free estimates. An individual knocked on my door one Saturday morning, and normally I?m not a big fan of companies that canvass neighborhoods, but I had always heard good things about Thompson Creek and I knew I needed new windows (still had the original double hung wood windows on the house, built in 1965) so I decided to talk to him. He was very friendly and scheduled a free estimate/sales appointment for me right then and there, on a Sunday no less. I went into the sales appointment without any intention of buying any windows. I was just interested in hearing about their products and the pricing, etc. I was thoroughly impressed with the product, product demonstration, and the sales associate?s knowledge of Thompson Creek?s windows versus the competitors? as well as the unique climate of the National Capital Region. He brought in a heat lamp and a demo window and held up the heat lamp to the window. After a few minutes he asked me to place my hand near the heat lamp and then place it behind the window. I could feel very little heat coming through the window. The windows are very well constructed and made of vinyl. The sales associate was extremely thorough, answering all of my questions on the windows and doors, even going so far as to cancel his next sales appointment that day to ensure my needs were met (he spent hours at my house, going over the different types of windows and doors and walking me through the process). Needless to say, I ended up purchasing replacement windows for the whole house except the basement (a total of 22 windows with the addition of a bay window where a series of 3 windows were); a new front door and storm door; and a new back door with internal blinds. The doors are Pella, not Thompson Creek, but I couldn?t be happier with them. I thought the pricing/cost was fair for the products and service I was getting. The sales associate walked me through all the paperwork with the utmost patience, ensuring he had all the correct measurements, styles, colors, etc. After the sales appointment, came the measurement appointment. The gentleman was prompt and pleasant and everything went effortlessly. Thompson Creek makes every window specifically for every job. Once the measurements were taken, they began construction on our windows and doors in their local factory (they only service the National Capital Region). The front door and side transom soon became the problem child. They had to custom build the transom as there is an air vent at the baseboard that prevented them from using the standard sizes. They worked tirelessly to ensure it fit the current opening. All this was done at no additional cost to me; however, it did delay installation but that did not matter to me. Installation was scheduled for October 2012 and went smoothly. They had a crew of about 7 guys and finished in one day. I also bought all the guys pizza so they didn?t have to run out. They left the house and yard exactly as they found it and cleaned up thoroughly after themselves. The door guys even worked well into the evening to make sure the front door and transom fit (it gave them worlds of trouble). And the bay window turned out beautifully. Since the installation of the main floor windows and two doors I?ve noticed approximately a 15% decrease in my power bill. I can?t speak for gas as even though I have a gas furnace, I also have a gas fireplace that I love to use so that bill tends to fluctuate regardless. I?ve even noticed a definite reduction in the amount of noise that gets through the windows. My house is so quiet. As a matter of fact, I love Thompson Creek so much they came out in December 2013 to finish the 5 windows in the basement. Did I mention there is also a lifetime transferable warranty? Thompson Creek stands behind their product. Even my parents?who have a competitor?s window but one in which the sales associate admitted was comparable to theirs?is jealous of the job they did and the windows they have. I cannot recommend them enough.

The entire process from beginning to end was a memorable experience! The salesman was professional, knowledgeable, polite, well spoken and extremely good at his job! I had three windows replaced in my living room which make up a picture type window. The original windows were installed when the house was built which was in the 1960's and they need updated. The new windows were actually ready 3 weeks earlier than scheduled. The installation was scheduled for 8:00 a.m. and the men arrived about 7:30 a.m.. I was taking the trash out and one of the gentlemen offered to take help me. We started talking and he asked if I minded if they started before 8, I said certainly go right ahead. The process was amazing. These two guys removed the old windows and had the new windows installed before noon. They cleaned up their mess completely, even disposed of the old windows. Their caulking was next to perfect! The salesman came by during installation and the Project Manager also came by. In my opinion this is a Class A company in every respect! I will definitely recommend Thompson Creek with no hesitation. It's nice to deal with a local company that produces an excellent product in every sense of the word.

Did part of the house for price shown. Gave discounted price for entire house good for 2years. I will replace more this winter. Nice to have locked in price that I can execute over time.
