Thompson Creek Window Company

The salesman showed up on time and went on a 90 minute spiel about Thompson Creek. This was expected as the length of the pitch was made clear during the initial phone call. The salesman was professional and helpful, but the pitch itself was high pressure and off-putting. This type of sales technique raises red flags in our household. Thompson Creek could make the best windows East of Los Angeles and I still wouldn't be interested. They were by far the most expensive windows we saw, but I was unable to find many significant differences between their product and the competition.

These guys have excellent ratings here on Angie's List and those ratings are likely well deserved. However, their high pressure sales tactics were such a turn-off I don't want anything to do with them. I called Thompson Creek based on their excellent ratings here on Angie's list. I need *one* window to replace an old window in a bathroom. All of the other windows in the house are essentially brand new but this one was not replaced with the others because it would have necessitated significant wall changes to a shower area. When I called, I was immediately treated like a sales prospect and grilled with qualifying questions. A few minutes into the call, I interrupted the girl to ensure she knew that this was a quote for one window only. Despite her assurances, the next person I spoke to (I think he was called a Dispatch Manager) followed up with his own qualifying questions. Again I stopped the Dispatch manager to remind him that this was a quote for only one window. When the sales guy came out I was greeted with the whole high pressure dog-and-pony show complete with a barrage of all of the requisite talking points. I heard everything about Thompson Creek and how they're both the manufacturer and installer and their awesome warranty and blah blah blah blah. The guy actually wouldn't stop talking about everything else other than what I wanted to know: What would it cost? When can they get started? and Did he have any questions for me? Overall, every single second I dealt with anyone from Thompson Creek, I wanted to just be done with them. I *need* a new window. In fact, I can't continue with my bathroom renovation without the new window. But I guarantee you that Thompson Creek won't be doing the work because the people I spoke to were so completely repulsive.

They had a great salesperson and knowledgeable crew that came out to do a pre-installation meeting to make sure measurements were correct before they cut the gutters. The supervisor came out a few days later to make sure everything was done correctly. The service was flawless and the crew paid a lot of attention to detail and did an outstanding job installing the gutters.

Very fast, quality windows, professional and friendly installation crew. Reasonable pricing. Sales team is willing to negotiate pricing so don't bail from sticker shock

Waste my time and my wife's time. Over The phone i was promised a better price than what we were quoted last time. They did give me a better price but left out the Sliding doors that was included in the last quote.

Since the day of window installation, the street noise level has been significantly reduced. My utility bills have been significantly reduced also. I have had no problems at all with these windows and am convinced that, even though it was a costly investment, it was well worth it. The only problem I had was that the windows installation date had to be rescheduled on relatively short notice. Since the day of door installation, I have had no cold drafts entering the house during the winter. This has helped my home be warmer in the winter and has reduced my utility bills.

I had a great experience with Thompson Creek from the buying experience to the installation. The sales rep was friendly and knowledgeable. He showed us the product and discussed product differences, answered all our questions. The Installation crew was AWESOME!. They arrived on time, were very friendly and respectful. Made sure all my things were protected and cleaned after themselves after the work was completed. I have beautiful windows, no more drafts and it is much quieter. They really know how to do windows.

They were prompt and very concientious of the work. They did a great job. I used there financing.

The installers really seemed to know what they were doing and took care of all the windows & sliders in one single day. I have no problem with the installers, they were very efficient and professional, and went about their business in a very workmanlike fashion. Also, the salesman was on top of things because he noticed (which I had not noticed in 20 years) that the grid on some of my windows was different than the others (the kitchen windows have a 2x3 grid vs a 3x3 on other windows). The only problem with the salesman was that when he finished his presentation I felt that he was assuming that I was going to sign a contract right then and there which, in fact, is what I did after a bit of negotiation, but I sensed that I was headed for a bit of a hard sell if I had decided to get another estimate. I decided to go with Thompson Creek because, a) I had a friend that chose them and was happy with their purchase; b) the windows are made on site in their own factory (instead of being made by a third party); c) they are guaranteed for the life of the window and that guarantee is transferable should the house be sold, or inherited. I am very happy with these windows, they are touch thicker than the original windows and have the added benefit of making the house much quieter by dampening the sound from the traffic on the street out front (e.g. the passing commuter buses). One caution, be warned that since these windows are thicker than many contractor grade windows they will sit farther into the window box so it will be necessary to remove, and possibly replace, your current window treatments. Also, on one of my sliding glass doors the installation required removal and replacement of the surrounding moulding, this required removal of the existing curtain rod which had to be reinstalled (this wasn't the case with the downstairs sliding glass door). All in all I really like these windows and appreciate the excellent job done by Thompson Creek.

I would 100% recommend Thompson Creek for your windows! We shopped around for pricing and Thompson Creek had the best price around! Their sales consultant was very personable and not pushy at all! We never felt pressured that we had to buy right then and there (Even though we did, that?s how confident we felt!) Every appointment from consultation to measure to final installation they were 15 minutes early. If they said they were going to be there at 8 they were there at 7:45, I was very impressed with that because my husband and I had to take off of work for all the appointments. They were very thorough on window measurements! Each window was measured over and over to make sure the measurements were perfect! On installation day two men came and did a phenomenal job! They were true professionals!!! I felt comfortable and confident in their work. We had old drafty windows on the inside and ugly rotting wood on the outside, you?d never believe the beautiful difference! They were at our home around 7:45 until 3:00pm and you would have never known we had work done! It was spotless, no trash or any construction debris left behind! I was so impressed how two men were able to knock out 8 window in the speed they did and had them all look perfect! We highly recommend anyone to go with Thompson creek!

Salesman predictably used high-pressure "must buy now" tactics. When price was compared to competing providers, it was discovered that special "buy-it-now" discounted price was still double the legitimate competitors.

Was in a hurry and didn't take time to 'shop around'. They came out for the sale, again for measurement, and then for installation. At installation it was discovered that there had been a measurement error. They brought up the issue and indicated they would have to rebuild the window. They installed the other two, and made the 'small' window work adequately until the new one got installed. It took a couple of weeks to get the new window, but they were very accommodating of my schedule and came back at a time they don't usually work on. Very satisfied.

Yes, this review is being written for something which occurred about a year ago but I'm just now getting around to it. The salesman showed up to provide a written quote for replacing the windows in my townhouse. Unfortunately, they were never willing to come after I got off of work (or even at 4pm and I just take off early), so they came when my wife was at home during the middle of the week. They gave us a price quote of 38,000 USD with the standard nonsense of "if you sign the contract now, and give us reviews on Google or similiar, and allow us to put an advertising sign in your yard; then we'll take off ~8,000 USD". It was a standard high pressure sales pitch and the price quote was nothing more specific than "all windows - 38,000 USD". I expected more from such a known company, but I guess they've gotten to big even for themselves. We went with a different vendor with excellent energy star rated windows for less than half of Thompson Creek.

The gentlemen that installed our screen door were terrific. They were professional and cleaned up everything once the job was complete. The door looks great.

Initial contact was end of April. Installed them beginning of June. Sales spiel was the usual..explaining the company, the windows, etc. Of course the price quote was cheapest if I chose that very minute...where I'm thinking I'll finish my other estimates and if I choose you I will get that same price or I don't choose you at all. All part of the marketing/sales stuff everyone goes through. The spiel wasn't too pushy and was thorough. I chose them because I do like the windows but primarily I wanted a company that only did windows and their own installation. As opposed to something like Lowe's/home depot which sell OK windows but you're never sure of who's putting them in. Also great warranty on the windows and installation for life. Thought they were a little pricier but again I chose them for the installation. 3 workers came out to install all the windows in one day including a rain storm. They were nice, clean and professional. Didn't mind that I followed them around, watching and asking questions.

everyone was very friendly and reliable. The salesman did a good job of presenting the products and going through the smallest details. The price was higher than other quotes I had received but the guarantee was excellent. It took only 3 weeks from signing the agreement to everything being installed.. The guy who came for measurements was on time and moved quickly, reviewing details on each product. I received several calls to remind me of appointments. The day of installation was cloudy and threat of late afternoon rain. I was told the workers would arrive between 8 and 10am. They arrived at 1020 but went to work quickly. They worked until after 930pm and took time to do each window and door completely. The house was cleaner after they left than when they arrived. So far I have been thrilled with all the results, especially the French doors. I hope I never have to call them to fix anything but the guarantee is supposedly good for as long as I own the house as well as the next buyer.

I was very impressed. The crew worked full day and finished 22 windows in one day, including the bay window.

We called Thompson Creek windows company to replace our windows. They used high sells tactics and told us it would cost $10 grand more if the sales guy walked away. Plus, told us that if we had any real issues with the installation than the windows were free. Having this be the 1st time we ever dealt with a window company we went ahead and did it. The installation was going okay in early January until i noticed two of the windows were not level. We didn't have this issue with the old windows. The two men installing our windows proceeded to tell us that it was from our house settling. The only showed us one window upon completion. The next day I was dusting and noticed that my trim under one of my windows was close to falling off. We notified the company and they sent someone out to check it out. At this point we noticed all of our trim was damaged expect for one window. The project manager came out and said they would send out the same crew to fix it. We told them no that they had there chance and they did it completely wrong. They told us it would take 3 weeks to get someone else out there. Than we got the bill for the windows before they were even fixed. We called accounting and they took the bill back and said to notify them as soon as the job was done. When the guy came out to fix it, he slapped wood mud of the trim and tried to smooth it out. Needless to say it didn't work. We called to explain to them that we were feeling air around the windows and the trim was not fixed. They told us we had to speak to someone else because he had gotten a promotion and it was no longer his job. He gave us his name and transferred us. It took us over 4 months to get this new guy on the phone. Which he quickly put us on hold and transferred us to accounting to take care of the bill. It took another week to get him on the phone. He continue to play games. Around July I finally got in touch with his manager Amanda B. She was apologetic and had a meeting with the VP the next morning. The only option they gave us was either take $1,000 of the bill or extend the money back guaranteed for 30 days. Which in tailed we had 30 days to find another contractor. We found the Whiting company which put a roof, 10 windows, 2 sliding glass doors, and gutters for the same price as Thompson Creek 10 windows and 1 door. We let Thompson Creek know that we were going with another company. They told do to the situation they wanted there guys to come take out there windows the same day as the new install. The day of the Install of the new windows was not interesting to say the least. I told them not to show up until 8:30am as i would not be home because i was dropping up my son as school. They showed up at some point while i was dropping my son off. Mr. Whiting guys were there before i left so they handle the original show up. When i pulled in the project manager immediately starting walking toward me before i could even get out of my vehicle and get my youngest child out the vehicle. Once he saw my child he did back up though. Than he proceeded to question me about why we were replacing there windows. I explain the situation to him, all he did was shook his head. As the windows starting coming off, the one that was not even is because they installed one of the windows wrong because they didn't remove the support from the old window. Also, all the windows were too small and had not been insulated on the sides or the top; which is why air was coming in. When the guys were done pulling out all of there windows they left. Then around 2pm a guy from Thompson Creek called my husband demanding my phone number to see if his guys were still there. My husband he was not welcome to my phone number. The guy than got irritated and ask if the job was at least done. My husband told him, he didn't know and it wasn't mine or his job to keep track of his guys. We never heard from them again. Never got a formal apology. If anyone is considering using them RUN!!!!!!

They were right on scheduled as promised. The project manager assigned to oversee the work was constantly in touch via telephone or email. Even a week later when we realized there was a need for some repair work, the return visit was prompt. Our project manager at TC was very responsive. We were satisfied with the service and the work.

From sales through installation all employees were professional and courteous.

About two weeks ago this company came to my home to give me an estimate for windows. The salesperson used really high pressure tactics, like giving a discounted price only if I signed up right then and there. If I needed to think about it, the price would go up. Also insisted on my husband being present--what is this, the 1950s? The presentation took way too long and the salesperson was quite young and inexperienced. Today, another Thompson Creek representative came to my door and rang the bell--a cold call. Even though I said I was not interested he kept on trying to get me to open up the door and would not leave. I asked him to leave at least three times before I just walked away. This company is trying way too hard to drum up business. I would never use it.

The installation took nearly 10 hours for the 3 doors. The french doors have a built in screen system that does not open and close freely. I have to use both hands and pull hard to open/close it. Not what I was expecting for such a pricey french door. Also received the wrong storm door for the laundry room door. This is now on reorder and to be installed late May.
