Thompson Creek Window Company

The gutter installation had 2 major flaws I did not discover for several months. My roof shingles along the edge were left sticking up in several areas so water and ice would have gotten under and into my house, if I did not spot the problem myself. one downspout was leaking out on to my yard, instead of int the drain pipe it was attached to. the provider corrected both problems when I notified them.

They were perfect. They were on time and cleaned up everything after they were finished. They called back to make sure I was happy with the work.

I've used Thompson Creek for windows twice. They were out in October 2014. There responsiveness and quality were pretty good. I guess the only knock on them was, you know, they definitely did a good job, it's thoroughly expensive, you know so the pricing is, only sort of complaint I would say I have is I asked them to save some of the old screens for the windows because I had other windows that had the same screen size and they either didn't understand what I asked for, they didn't quite follow through on doing that.

We didn't know doors were so expensive. The doors are one of the best and they're great.

Thompson Creek conducted door to door solicitation in our neighborhood that has ample signs prohibiting the behavior. However that isn't the egregious error in my opinion. It is the fact that they used false information to try and make sales. At a neighbor's house they told him they could see condensation in a 3 year old window even though there was no condensation and at ours they made an inaccurate claim about the weather stripping for the window. Aggressive and shoddy sales tactics means I will never do business with your company. Disappointed to see they are Angie's List with these practices. If you get a quote from them and they cite problems, I recommend getting a second opinion.

This afternoon around 5;30, two men in their 20s knocked at my door. They said they were from Thompson Creek, and were soliciting business. One of them pointed to the window next to the door and asked, "When did you last have that window replaced?" I told him that I had the windows replaced 3years ago. He said, l " I can see condensation in it." There was no condensation in the window. The one man, apparently the sales lead, then asked me about my siding, asking when I last had it painted, and how long the siding can go between paintings. I told him that the siding requires painting every 8-10 years. The man then asked me how much it costs to paint the siding. I gave him a WAG of $1000. The man then tried to sell me Thompson Creek's siding and painting services, gong so far as to claim that they could replace the T1-11 on my house with vinyl. He bragged about Thompson Creek's high rating on Angie's List, then asked me when they could schedule a visit for a free estimate. I told him "Never. By the way, you're not supposed to be soliciting in this development. I'm on the Board." The two men left hurriedly. The claim that there was condensation in my 3 year-old window, when there was obviously no condensation, indicates that these guys will a homeowner anything, regardless of whether it is true, to get the homeowner to buy something from Thompson Creek. If this behavior is characteristic of Thompson Creek's sales practices, I advise you to find another company, preferably one that hires honest sales representatives.

I appreciate that if you think you can't do a good job then don't do it. I was fine with that. Problem is I am still waiting for my refund and they are NOT RETURNING MY PHONE CALLS . Will you call them in for an estimate?

Pretty aggressive and uncomfortable sales tactics. I scheduled an estimate to replace a gutter. The office asked for a ninety minute appointment and demanded that everyone in the family be available. I told them to buzz off about my family -- should have been the first sign. The visit that should have taken 5 minutes lasted two hours. The salesman wouldn't leave my home. Every time I'd shut the door on him, he'd come back from his truck with another mock window or binder of meaningless "awards" to try to sell me windows. I mentioned that I wanted him to leave, as I had other appointments with other vendors, at which point he demanded to know which other companies I was considering, what research I'd done and where, and asking me to recite the comments I said I'd seen about Thompson Creek. To get rid of him, I told him to type up an estimate for windows, siding, the gutter, whatever, and just get out of my house. The estimate I received -- after calling the office and having my emails ignored -- was a cell phone photo of a hand-written list of numbers, in no particular order, referencing some splendid "sale" and financing options. When I asked for clarification and gave a counter-offer, the responses I got were emailed sentence fragments and terse voicemails. I never saw any letterhead, itemized list of charges, etc. I will never do business with Thompson Creek.

At our initial meeting w/ factory rep. Don Betts he was exactly on time,told us about the company (local), the manufacturing process, showed us a working sample and answered all our questions and gave us his cell phone number if any problems or questions arose. After we made our decision, he filled out the paperwork and scheduled the appts for the "measuring tech" and installation less than 1 month later. The installation tech was also right on time as were the installers. After we placed the order, we found another sm. window in need of replacement in another room - Mr Betts again came out as did the "measurement tech" and we were told that they would try to have that one ready at the same time as the lg ones - which it was. We had a contact person at the company who checked in with us to confirm that all would be ready on the promised date.The installation crew were on time - covered the carpets, worked quickly, cleaned up completely, then foreman and I inspected and they smoothed out the calking in areas which were uneven. He found 1 nonfunctional crank handle and promised that it would be promptly replaced. Everyone we interacted with was prompt, very courteous and professional. This is a local company which only works within a 60mi radius of their plant so shipping is never a problem. We would definitely use them again.

I said at the very first, "I am not getting this today. I'm just looking," because somebody just walked by the house and said, "Hey, would you like to do this?" And I thought, "Well, I need to get an idea of how much it would even cost." He got really angry with me that I wouldn't do it that day. Then he was like, "I could be at other people's houses." I was like, "Really? I told you this first sentence that I would not be doing this today and do not try to give me a sales pitch that only lasts today." It was a very expensive quote too because I checked with somebody else that used the same doors and it was like half the price. He was very pleasant and made all the sales pitch connections that you're supposed to do. They were very professional. It's just that I didn't like the hard sell.

Thompson Creek was wonderful to work with. Their punctuality and professionalism were superb. We just bought our house and were outside doing yard work one day. Someone was going door to door trying to drum up more business since they were in the neighborhood performing other work. I don't usually like dealing with people going door to door, but we were outside and were kind of stuck. The gentleman said he could have someone come out and give us a free quote on gutters that afternoon if we wanted. I originally said that we weren't interested but he assured it was a free quote so I agreed (we were going to be home all day anyway). The gentleman came out to measure within a couple hours and was so friendly. My husband and I didn't necessarily need new gutters, but figured they were beautifully crafted (as we learned during the short presentation the representative gave), as well as being maintenance free. We had a dollar amount in mind, and if it was somewhere in that ballpark, we were going to move forward. To our pleasant surprise, it was right in the area we were anticipating. We signed the paperwork and put down the deposit that afternoon. Every step of the process was wonderful. They kept in great contact with us and were always professional and courteous. I was a little afraid that because we had been solicited by a representative and had not initiated the contact that we were going to be treated less than great. That was not the case at all. Even the two gentleman installing the day of were very friendly and cleaned up well. We are extremely happy with the work that was performed, the communication leading up to it, and the quality of the materials. Thank you!

The sales person arrived on time, was very knowledgeable and polite. Was able to answer all of my questions. The person who did the actual measuring of the windows arrived on time. Was done in less than 30 minutes taking all of the measurements. Was able to answer the few questions I had. The crew arrived on time and began work right away. It was scheduled to be a 1 1/2 day job, but got finished in 1 day They were quick, efficient and very professional. They made sure the floors were protected and cleaned everything when they were finished. I would use them again for sure.

Since our windows had to be custom made because of the age of the house, we decided to go with a dedicated window company. I had called several companies to get a window that was similar to the existing windows. Thompson creek were not the cheapest but after all the work was completed I was pleased with the result. The salesperson brought a sample window to match the existing facade. Then another appointment was made to measure ( other companies wanted us to measure) . They came on time, on schedule and proceeded to cover everything inside the house that was close to the windows, but did most of the work from outside the house. The entire job, removal and installation of 12 windows, would have taken only 1 day as they brought a large crew. Only 1 window was measured wrong and they installed it a week later. I had asked that they save a few of the old leaded glass windows and they carefully preserved a few. I would recommend Thompson Creek for product choices and fast service.

They gave us a deal on the windows, but actually the contract was not drawn up correctly. We are addressing that now, and it is causing additional charges. Now that the job is complete, I do see some condensation on the inside of the windows. I am monitoring it now, but I may call to have that addressed through the warranty that is provided. Overall, I was most satisfied in terms of the friendliness of all the staff. The project manager also did a good job trying to address the concerns we had. However, I would suggest more attention to detail when it comes to the contracting. That is where things fell apart for us. The sales quote was low, but it was because there were features not included. They should have been included because we noted that we wanted the windows to match our existing windows. We had 5 windows done by Thompson Creek for this project, and we had 5 windows done prior by another company. Thompson Creek didn't match the style of the previous windows.

We just had Thompson Creek install 14 windows, a bay window, a garden window and a new front door in our house. From the beginning of our interaction with the customer representative, to the gentlemen who came to measure our windows to the construction crew (Dwayne's crew) we were very impressed with the whole operation! Everybody was very helpful, courteous and respectful. We couldn't have asked for anything more! We were equally impressed that the whole job was done in one day. The construction crew was very thorough and I was very impressed with how well they cleaned up after themselves after such a large job. Thank you very much for everything!

I was impressed with Thompson Creek from the very beginning! SALES: I saw a commercial for Thompson Creek on TV. When I went to their website, I saw they had a deal for free installation for the month of August. I submitted an online form for a price quote. Within 20 minutes of my online submission, I received a phone call from Thompson Creek. I had a person coming out to my house to give me a quote that same week. The gentleman (Al) that arrived to give me my quote was punctual and professional. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the products. Additionally, I had some questions about my back door and he advised that there wasn't an immediate need to replace the door (saving me a couple thousand dollars!). He even gave me a list of recommended products to use for weather stripping and to replace a glass insert on the door that would be of high quality and save me money. PRICING: In addition to the free installation discount, I was given a discount for being an Angie's List customer and also a few other discounts (things like same day contract, advertising to neighbors, etc..). Basically, I ended up getting over 40% off. The initial price of all 7 windows was just over $1k per window, but I ended up paying only $4.1k for all 7 windows. They also have 2 financing offers, a 36 month + interest or an 18 month no interest if paid within 18 months. I chose the 18 month financing as I was planning on paying cash anyway. This way I can build credit, not pay any interest and keep the cash in my bank account earning interest for the next 18 months. MEASUREMENT: Next came an appointment for measuring and ordering the exact window specifications. Edgar arrived on time and was very knowledgeable and professional. During the appointment we discovered the initial color of the window trim to be a little lighter than what matched my siding. Edgar brought out his sample chips and we chose a color that was a perfect match to my siding. The appointment took a total of 20 minutes for him to get exact measurements of all windows and we were even able to make an installation appointment within 2 weeks of that appointment. INSTALLATION: Installation went smoothly. There were 2 guys for the installation of all 7 windows. They loved my dog and were very sweet to him the entire day. Installation took about 3 hours. Edgar came by shortly before they finished installation to show me how to use the windows and to see if I had any questions or concerns. While doing the walk-through with Edgar, we discovered the soft liner on one of the windows was a little bit loose, which he fixed promptly. CRITIQUE: There was one MINOR disappointment. During the sales pitch describing the features of the window, Al told me the windows are constructed so that bugs will never get in. This was a major selling point for me as I'm terrified of bugs and Stink bug season was just about to arrive. When the windows were installed and Edgar was showing me how to use them, he noted that the screen sash (that can be moved to the top or bottom of the window depending which sash I wanted to open) had a gap when it was in the upper sash position. In this position, and if the upper window sash was opened, there was a possibility that bugs could get in the house. Of course, the bug would have to crawl in between the screen sash and the upper window sash and crawl all the way up the upper window sash to actually enter the house. This was just a minor disappointment because I can just not open the upper window sash during bug seasons.

Windows were overpriced. High pressure salesman had to ask him to leave. He would not accept that we weren't making a decision that day.

I had an appointment for 10:00 a.m. Tuesday morning, September 8, for an appraisal. The appointment was made the week before. After making the appointment, I went out of town for the Labor Day weekend (Labor Day being September 7). I went to an area with no cell service. When I returned home on the morning of the appointment, I found messages attempting to confirm the appointment (I keep my appointments) on my land line, which I can't access remotely. There were also messages on my cell (which I could not access from where I was vacationing). When I called on the morning of September 8 after I had returned home early that morning, I learned that my appointment had been unilaterally cancelled. I also was informed that Thompson Creek DOES NOT INSTALL WINDOWS IN HISTORIC DISTRICTS, which is where I live. It would seem that they could alert me to this fact on making the appointment. Also, it would seem that a company should expect that consumers are out of town on holiday weekends, and may not be able to access messages left on voice mail. A total waste of time. I've had work done by Wheaton Door and Hammer & Nail, and I will look to one of them for help on this project. Those window installers are vastly superior in dealing with customers, and do not unilaterally cancel appointments. Very disappointing experience.

The quality of the 7800 windows is very disappointing. They look like cheap windows from the in-stock selection at the Home Depot or even worse. You can see screw heads sticking out inside the window, the grids appear to be cheaply made and generate unsightly shadows making the window look dirty, not white. The windows that were shown at the initial appointment were of much better quality and it almost feels like bait-and-switch. If I had seen these windows at the appointment, I would have gone with a different company. But now the windows are installed, so I guess it is what it is... But I am disappointed with the quality of the windows. The crew was good and did a good job installing, however, they did not have all the necessary materials to complete the job and my husband had to provide them with some of the wood to complete the job. The window seal of one of the old windows was rotten and I made sure to show it to the sales rep and then to the measuring crew, all of them said it was totally fine and the crew will replace everything. Turns out, no one communicated it to the crew, so they didn?t have the materials and appeared confused as to what to do next. After my husband provided them with the materials, they did a good job completing everything. I have no complaints about the installation quality, however, the quality of the widnows is truly low and there appears to be lack of communication between different employee units.

The entire experience was very professional and timely, starting from the time I made the first phone call. The salesperson arrived the next day, offered a very good product at a reasonable price for the windows (I declined the gutters and the doors because I found the price too high for those products), and set up the installation time. The salesperson explained clearly the different options, including cost, financing, etc. There were several follow up calls from the company to keep me informed about the process. The installers showed up on time, kept the installation area clean, were very open to suggestions about which rooms to do first, which allowed me to have use of my house during the installation, and cleaned up thoroughly after they were done. I have just installed the windows, so I can't talk to the quality beyond what I've seen so far. But I found the experience hassle free, the team very helpful and responsive, and the price pretty decent.

I had heard about Thompson Creek on WTOP, and decided to try them for some new doors we needed in our house. They are, as the spokesman on the radio says, a local company. And they are a real pleasure to work with. Not inexpensive, but you get what you pay for and with windows and doors you don't want to mess around with sub-par materials. I liked that they produce their own windows or partner with a local company on doors. The customer service was really exceptional -- every option was viewable on the iPad that the salesperson brought, and then they called to follow up on expert measurements. They assign a customer care person who calls before and after each visit. Brandon came on time and worked all day to install the four doors. He finished in one day, as promised, and did a careful and professional job. The new doors look great. We will call Thompson Creek again next year to get an estimate on window replacement.

We scheduled an estimate for the two doors when two gentlemen came knocking. Our deck door had not closed properly since the earthquake back in 2011, so it was on our list of things to take care of someday. We decided to give them a shot. The schedulers were professional, courteous and able to work around what worked for us. The sales rep came out on time and took his time to ask what we wanted. When the estimate came out too high, we went back to the drawing board to find a door that would be what we wanted and worked with our budget. The first visit took about two hours, and I never felt rushed or pressured. The second visit was to double-check measurements, was done within a couple days and only took about 20 minutes. The doors were custom made, so installation was six weeks later. As I said - our doors had been off since that 2011 earthquake. The two installers who came faced door frames that were off-kilter and not plumb at all. On top of that, our lead test was positive and they had to take all of the extra precautions. It was a frustrating task, and they faced it with professionalism, patience, and a good attitude. These guys could have taken shortcuts, but they didn't. When our house gave them obstacles that they hadn't expected, they rescheduled their next appointment and worked through lunch so that they could get the job done right. We are very happy with the quality of the product and the quality of the installation. We've had several severe thunderstorms in the past few weeks - no leaks and no banging.

Everything went well until we got the price. I have read about all the high pressure, but that did not happen to me. The call to set up an appointment went very well. The rep showed up on time and was very professional. Then he gave us the price: over $7,000 to replace just two standard double-hungs and one standard bay window. I told him no way! Then he offered to replace the double-hungs and use the framing of the existing bay and that would run about $4,000. That was much better, but I still think it's too high. I have to give them credit, they took it well, and did not try any high pressure; he did however set up a follow-up call for 2 days later. In the meantime, I got an e-mail from the guy who was going to follow up, and in it, he said that they were going all out to make their quota, and he had the authority to offer additional savings. When we had the call, I was very disappointed. The guy made me feel that I didn't know what I was talking about, he stated very clearly that he was not going to provide any further discounts, and made me feel like I was wasting his time. I don't know, maybe this is just the standard with window companies, I now plan to get many more quotes, and maybe I'll come back to them, I just cannot believe three replacements would cost so much.

We had a quote from another wend or. It was matched by Manager Thompson creek. Job well done. When we called for a small fix they did it with no question asked. Cost and date are approximate

It was fine. They did great. They are a great company. We were happy with the gutters. Their price was a little higher than others but their quality was much better. Their responsiveness, punctuality and professionalism were excellent.
