Thompson Creek Window Company

The representative kept pressing the point about what a great deal it was and how we'd regret not taking it that day. Several days later they sent an email asking what price we would need to make the deal but they couldn't meet it. We were very surprised that window companies use this insulting sales technique. Several other companies used the same method of asking for up to 90 minutes and then doing their hardest to get us to sign on that day. Most consumers won't spend thousands of dollars without doing some comparison shopping, which means they won't decide until they've compared prices over several days. We selected a company that does not use this tactic (also used by several others in our neighborhood) and whose prices are lower.

This company is out of touch with how business is done today. They gave me an obnoxious, hard sell. Without the "discount" they were going to give me they came in almost at twice the amount that another firm had quoted me. Then, they would only give me the "discount" if I signed a contract with them that day. The representative would not consider giving me a few days to consider their quote so that I could contact another firm with follow-up questions. The product that they peddle is no doubt a good one. But it's by no means unique. And it's not worth the amount they charge. I fully intend to write to them to let them know how displeased I was with the entire experience of dealing with them.

We got several estimates and went with Thompson Creek because the salesman was so sincere and because Thompson Creek has a local factory and we like to keep our money in the community. The windows were nearly twice as expensive as other estimates. The installation was good and quick, except that the installer washed metal and glass pieces down the kitchen sink when he was putting in the kitchen window and it tore up my disposal. When I called to complain, it took several days to get a call back and there was no follow up, disappointing as I spent $15,000 with them.

It was satisfactory. We got a quote and they stuck to it. It took them about 5 visits to complete the job because they made a mistake on some of the materials. But they finally finished it.

The TC rep, Kim Zebron came and we reviewed our options. The size of my sidelites stopped me from buying a stock door. We had fun picking and choosing the door. But when we talked price, all I can say is "Whoa!" I asked if I can think about it and got the "right now deal" line. I know doors aren't cheap but they were a little steep. I did choose them over the others because of the product and they would fix the area above the door that, at the time, looked really weather beaten. We drew up a great looking door. After the contract was signed, eight days later a change order was made because the rep didn't properly size the door. I was ready to stop the order if the door wasn't the size I had a contract for. I didn't want a smaller door and they advertised their doors to be "customized," so I couldn't see where there would be a problem. They sent a fax with a picture of how the door and sidelites would look and we were on the move again. The installers showed up on time, and after an hour I bought them coffee and doughnuts; it was a chilly day. After that, the installers said they found evidence of termites and would not proceed until we had a termite treatment contract. Yes, the installers waited 1.5 hours until that all took place. The work was resumed and the sidelites were installed, but the tech over tightened one sidelite and it cracked throughout the glass. We were hosting Thanksgiving dinner that week for both our families. Disappointed, you bet! It was four weeks before someone could come out to replace the sidelite. During that time, we had to put up blue painters tape to hold the chards of glass together which could be seen from the outside. After that, it really looks good. I am pleased, but I do think they are expensive. After all of that, the thing that pleases me most is when I look at all of my neighbors' entry doors, then I look at mine, mine stands out. That's why I'd use them again.

Wonderful! Estimator was on time and really nice. We had a lovely chat! As I had used the company before I was familiar with their fine products, which saved him the big demo. I was kept informed of the scheduling by their wonderful office staff. They did the work on the promised day, cleaned up (which was no small task, believe me) and finished EARLY.

First, they did the 'gotta have both homeowners there' routine. The salesman was a bit pushy, but pleasant. And, obviously effective, because we paid a LOT of money for the windows. Everything the installers did was excellent, including coming back to adjust the windows when two of the screens had gaps between their frames and the window frames. Overall, the experience was very good, except for the fact that I paid $700 per window, installed. When TC did their follow-up customer satisfaction survey, I told them I would have them back, but not at $700 per window. In spite of the quality of the experience, that was just too much money.

I had a lot of problems with this company. The salesman was good at talking but there was a lot of errors when the order was submitted. There is poor communication between the sales-construction-installation departments. I had to involve the Senior Management in order to resolve simple problems. It took about six to seven months to get things straightened out. I am satisfied with the windows, but the customer service is poor.

He did great work. He was very friendly, very punctual and got the windows installed in the time frame he said he would do. He cleaned up when he was finished.

After a lot of posturing, the salesman gave me an estimate for over $10,000 to install awning windows in two 60" X 60" openings. I asked him, "if you lived here would you spend that amount of money on this project". He answered, "no". I wouldn't either. End of sales call.

They were very professional. The only complaint was that the salesman came he said we would not have to be home. When they did the job they said we did need to be home. We had a coupon, but when they came out they said the coupon had expired. He finally gave us some off. They did an excellent job on the gutters.

They were great. The experience was wonderful! The quality of the windows is great! The work was done late in 2007, and they were great during the winter. It even lowered my heating bill. I would use them again in the future and would recommend them to others.

I called for an estimate and the salesperson was obviously reading from a script. The line was that we do them the "courtesy" of having all of the homeowners be present for the salesperson. This is inconvenient for us; my husband works long hours and I make the home improvement decisions. They did not want to come out twice. This was insulting for two reasons: one, that they thought I myself could not make the decision on my own; and two, I was going to spend $15,000 - $20,000 on windows and they could not be inconvenienced or spend the money/time to come out twice for us. I decided to go ahead, but when I made the appointment she asked whether I had any conflicts at that time, "errands, shopping, etc." What? I just made an appointment! I thought the whole experience was condescending, pushy, and rude. I canceled the appointment. Later another salesperson called and had the same line about giving them the "courtesy" of having both homeowners present. I thought, if they are so rigid and rude even before we made an appointment, there's no way I would hire them.

After calling other companies the Thompson Creek Windows was the cheapest. They installed 18 windows for us. They were very prompt, professional, and most of all, they cleaned up all of their mess.

They did a very good job, and they did the whole job in one day. They were prompt and efficient. But we had one problem. They had forgotten to put one of the bolts in one of the windows. When I called to tell them about it, they sent someone out to fix it, but he did not have to right bolt with him. It was fixed eventually. In general, I was very happy about the job. They did a very good job of cleaning up after themselves as well.

As above. Because of technical difficulties, I am not able to provide pictures. On May 31, 2008 Mr. Wilson inspected the work and agreed with my assessment. This has inconvenienced me a lot, since I kept my clothes out of the closet while waiting for the inspection and repair for 3 weeks. The wall unit is still unoccupied.

They wouldn't help me because I only need to replace one window. I already have had two other window companies come out, Hodges and Nova, and none of them have requirements.

They did neat, clean and professional work.

Everything went excellent. When I called I got a hold of someone right away. They scheduled the work according to my schedule. They were very flexible.

They would not come to the home to give me an estimate without my husband being present (his job has very long, quirky hours and makes it nearly impossible to schedule appointments like this); it was as if they couldn't be inconvenienced to come give me an estimate - said something about highly trained technicians, and not wanting to have to sent them twice (if they wanted the business, I would think they would take that chance). Came across very sexist, as if my pretty, little wife brain couldn't be trusted with a decision this big (irony is that I make more $$ than my husband).

Using Thompson Creek was excellent. They manufacture their own windows to your measurements. All their personnel showed up on time, did good work and cleaned up when they left. I'm very happy with the results, I'd recommend Thompson Creek Windows to others.

It went very well. They were very professional. We paid at least twice as much for the door but it was worth it. We found them on Angie's List. It took them one day to do the work.

They took out the old door. There was some sort of flashing that was not flush. They had to put the old door back on while they special ordered the correct door. I don't think this was their fault, more just an inconvenience. They gave us a gift card for our trouble. We were very pleased with the service and would use them again.

The company representative gave us the standard pitch, which was probably the only low point of the experience. He knew coming in that we had a competing bid from a new company in our area, but nevertheless went through almost the same sales pitch (surreal - they must go to a school because the one sounded like the other). Over the 24 hours we got calls from managers from both companies offering to lower the price. In the end, we leveraged that competition between the two companiees to get our job done for a bargain. The characteristics of both windows were pretty much the same, but we went with Thompson because we though that (1) the after sales service was better and (2) a local company that makes its own product (the other was a chain, which sold product of another manufacturer) would be more accountable to its customers. The job itself went fairly well. The measurement was quick, and we waited about 4 weeks for the installation. On that day, the crew of four worked efficiently and despite starting late for various logistical problems, finished that evening. They did an amazing job, and cleaned up throughly before leaving. The difference these windows make in noise reduction and funtionality is apparent - as I expect will be the savings to our monthly electric bill. And, they look great.

Had 3 estimates done for the job. Chose Thompson Creek because they were not the most expensive but not the cheapest. Also they manufacture their own windows and they are local. They delivered on the date promised and completed all the work in a timely manner. The workers were very professional and courteous. They cleaned up everything and left no mess. I was very impressed. The only complaint I have is in the marketing tactics, to try to force you to make a decision right there on the spot instead of giving the client time to consider their decision. As costly as it is to install windows, this is not a decision to be made hastily. I don't like this marketing technique and all of the 3 companies who did the estimates used the same techniques. I did decide that night because they compromised and we settled on an agreeable price. They did try to make me accept this offer and it would not be available after that day. Other than that, I was well pleased with Thompson Creek Windows. I would use them again.
