Thompson Creek Window Company

Purachased these 3 windows from a seemingly knowledgable and personable salesperson. Upon installation we were not at all happy with the windows--we felt like we were not given enough or the right information to determine that the windows were not what we were looking for given the type of windows we were having replaced (very small awning type casement windows). We called the company to take advantage of their 100% satisfaction money-back guarantee. After much back and forth with them, they agreed, and gave us all our money back. I am writing this review to say that even though we were not pleased with the windows, the company made it completely right with us in the end, and therefore deserves to be commended. It is nice to know the company stands behind its guarantee and puts the happiness of their customers first. I would recommend them to others for this reason alone.

I received a wonderful in-home estimate from one of Thompson Creek's salesmen. The price was one of the best ones I received from the companies we interviewed. However...I was turned off big-time on the "exit tactic." The salesman went way overboard on trying to get me to sign a contract on the spot. I had no intention on doing that. The first five "no's" didn't seem to phase the salesman. The salesman also made some "hail marry" pitches that turned me off even more. Too bad...they did have the best price on the large window we want to replace.

They couldn't do the work I was looking for, but they were very helpful on the phone.

The experience was outstanding. With an old house i've been using service providers for a long time. Thompson Creek was the easily one of the top contractors i've worked with. My phone calls were answered promptly and courteously, the arrived on time, and worked hard to complete the job. I like that the install crew is owned and operated by the same company who manufactures the windows so the quality assurance is very high. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

Everything turned out beautifully. The two installers who came were very good and worked very quickly. They were very responsible and professional, as well as being very funny--I enjoyed them. It was a very cold day so they only did one room at a time, but the project went quite quickly. I got a good deal on the windows, and I was very happy with them.

Called these guys only after having shopped around. The sale pitch is high pressure. They asked us to make a decision on the spot. If you can show them quotes from other companies, they might lower their price. We liked their windows better than any other competitor's and that was what pushed us to put up with the sale pitch. The installation went fine, with just some minor glitches that were promptly corrected. Our house is a lot more comfortable now.

I interviewed 8 companies before I selected Thompson. I selected them because they were the most knowledgeable, had the best price, were a local manufacturer and had the shortest wait period for delivery/install time. The salesman gave me an estimate for replacing the entire bay, which would be all the wood on the inside, etc. I thought that was my only option. When the project manager came out, he told me we could also replace just the windows, not the whole thing. As good as the salesman was, the salesman did not give me both options. He was good enough that I selected his company over 7 other vendors. We waited on my condo association approval, and once I sent in the approval, there was some delay waiting for installation. The installers were expertly skilled and very efficient. They got the job done in under 4 hours, but when I looked at the windows, they were missing the "grids," a requirement of my condo association. I called the company right away. In the meantime, I contacted the association to see if they would accept the windows. My board president was out of town, when I explained the situation, the association approved the window with out grids, which I was pleased about because I liked the look more. I went outside and saw the windows were all aluminum clad. If they had replaced the entire inside and outside, it would have all had aluminum clad, but since we did the windows only, the original wood underneath the copper roof would have no cladding. After the installation, I only needed a small section to be aluminum clad, and they said they would do it free of charge. The original estimate for extra cladding was over $500. They sent out a project manager who got all the information, ordered the materials, somebody called me the next day to do schedule the work, and the work will be done next week some time. The bottom line is, even though there were glitches, I love my new maintenance free windows and they took great care of me. I would definitely recommend them!

TC's cost estimate appeared to be based on lineal feet of gutter (rather than feet of gutter and downspouts as another contractor did) with no charge for downspouts. Their salesman was prompt for the inspection/estimate, which he conducted in a professional manner. No hard sales pitch, just the facts as he saw them. The sales kit contained examples, in good shape, of their and competitors gutter systems (another contractor used new examples of their system, but beat-up and bent examples of competitor's systems). Visual and physical inspection of each system in the TC kit suggested that the GutterShutter designed gutter was larger and more substantial than their competitor's systems. The internal hanging brackets also were definitely more substantial and better designed. Each gutter was continuous while the cover was produced off-site in about 6-ft sections. Installation was uneventful and the crew cleaned up after themselves, i.e., nothing on the ground to indicate that they had ever been there. Every few weeks after installation, TC sent an email asking whether I was satisfied. I was waiting for a rain/snow before I responded. Just after a rain, a TC rep stopped by on a Sunday to check on the work and to make sure I was satisfied. I told him that I was, but that I was a little disappointed that one cover joint seemed to be at a very slight angle rather than flat (was not really very noticeable). On the following Monday, TC called to schedule an appointment to have the joint straightened. They could come whenever was OK with me and asked if the next day (Tuesday) was OK. I said yes. Even though it was snowing on Tuesday, their rep showed at the appointed time and asked what all he could do to make sure I was a satisfied customer. There was no argument about how small the angle was, he started to work right away - while it was snowing! He spent at least a couple hours adjusting the gutter/cover, etc. I was very satisfied with the end result. TC followed up with an independent email survey to make sure I was satisfied.

FABULOUS (nearly amazing): for the professionalism, timeliness, accuracy of project estimate and explanation of how the overall experience would go. They were better than expected in performance and quality of window/doors. We could not have been more pleased.

Called for an estimate to replace my front door and back door. I was looking for something relatively simple. Estimates were about $2200/door, which I felt was close to outrageous for nothing fancy. Likely the doors & workmanship were of a high quality, but I couldn't tell. Salesman answered questions but was not enthusiastic. No list of references. No phone followup after the sales call. I saw no reason to give this company my business.

Very well. Got the expected sales pitch with a high price and several days later was offered a reasonable price to replace 20 windows. A company official came to the house within the stated time to measure the windows. The new widows came within the quoted time for manufacture and were installed by a very professional crew of three within six hours. They cleaned up all installation related trash and hauled the old windows away. It is winter now and our home is not cold and drafty -- well worth the cost.

I just called them because I was worried about the warranty. They came and fixed the gutter that another provider had damaged. I had an issue with my French door, and they fixed it. Their customer service is phenomenal.

Estimator came and talked for three hours. This was double the time mentioned on the phone. The price was extraordinarily high, but an email was sent within a few days offering to substantially reduce the price. I haven't responded, but I'm sure there is plenty of negotiating room when the initial quote is over $1000 per window for fairly standard slider windows.

The company is first rate in so far as they really know all about replacement windows and they stand behind their product and the installation 100%. They offer a very good and strong vinyl window, so you need to want this type of window as opposed to wood or some composite material that you can get from other vendors. All in all the windows perform very well and the service from the company is excellent. After I noticed some issues with the installation (some caulking, pane damage and frame damage during installation), they sent someone who repaired all the caulking. Then he ordered replacement windows for the damaged parts and came back three weeks later to replace the ones that weren't perfect. All this at no additional cost. They guarantee their widows for your life and that of the subsequent owner. There is no company that will back their product like Thompson. Although they are not the cheapest, I suspect over the long run these widows will last longer than any that are cheaper and even if they don't, I can have them replaced at no cost.

It was good and bad. They got the order wrong and we did not discover that it was wrong until they got 3 quarters of the work done. We had to negotiate with them over the fact that it was their fault. They did give us compensation and in the end it worked out. We are fairly pleased with the windows.

The contractor was remarkably efficient. A team of 5 men removed all of my old windows, replaced them with new energy-saving windows and cleaned up in a bit over 4 hours.

Problems with installation, but the company rectified the problem.

Salesman, although friendly, was pushy. Indicated that I had to sign that day or 28% discount would not be available. I did not get estimates from other companies so I can't tell if the price was reasonable. The installers arrived on time, were very professional and cleaned up the work area after they were finished. The windows are easy to operate.

I am very impressed with this company. The salesman was informative and answered all my questions. I like this company because they make and install the windows. They give you a 100% lifetime guarantee. There clean up was excellent. After the job was finished the owner called to make sure the job was done right. I was pleasantly surprised.

When the salesperson first came in, he wanted to know right off the bat what companies we were evaluating. He wanted to know this, because he wanted to immediately talk down about the other companies. He finally proceeded forward with the demo and pricing. The demo went fine, except for his cell phone ringing every couple of minutes and him answering; but nothing was extraordinary about their windows. When we got to the pricing, all I have to say is WOW. The cost from Thompson Creek was three times higher than other providers. When we questioned the salesperson about the price difference all he could say was that their windows were superior and they guarantee everything. He then offered a "Special Today-Only" discount. The discount didn't make that much of a dent. When we then said that we wanted to think about it, he became very pushy about the sale. I asked for information on their windows and a copy of the proposal, to which he informed us that they do not leave copies of the proposal or any other information unless we purchase. Upon hearing this, and after dealing with the salespersons attitude, I immediately requested he leave our residence. I would highly encourage members to look to other providers. The product we felt was greatly over-priced, both for windows and gutters. The sales-person, and especially the high-pressure sales, really need to be improved upon.

My experience with the company was nothing short of excellent. From the initial contact through the sales call in my home and the installation I have been VERY impressed with their conscientiousness and "customer satisfaction" focus. I am a very "picky" consumer and all had gone well up to the day of installation. I was a bit concerned when the "crew" showed up because there were only two of them, and this was a "whole house" job. My concerns were, as it turned out, totally unwarranted. Rick, the crew chief, and his brother were phenomenal. In fact, I would hire them for any job that required professionalism and courtesy. They worked non-stop, and did a first class job of installation and trimming(frankly, they are artists in the window!). As importantly, they were extraordinarily neat and, as a bonus, very friendly and courteous. I even called the company the next day to tell them that Rick and his brother were the best I had seen! The installation was, as far as I can tell, flawless; they had done a great job measuring and custom building the windows. I was particularly impressed with the way that the windows were trimmed out and caulked. Would I hire this company again? You bet! In fact, I would recommend them without hesitation. I was also impressed that they were very receptive both to change orders and to adjusting the price in a fair way.

They had very reasonable prices. They were very efficient. They came out on time. If I had any problems after they would fix it. They were very polite and professional.
