I was hesitant to hire this company based on the previous rating on this site. After expressing my concerns to the folks over at Maryland Stone Source (I worked with Gabby and Veronica), they were able to assure me of their quality work and professionalism. The guys did an excellent job with delivering and installing my granite! My countertops are beautiful! The seams are very unnoticeable and the D shaped sink is gorgeous. They were prompt and courteous and finished the job in 2 hours! The only complaint that I have is that I had to tape down cardboard ahead of time so that my wood floors did not get any scuffs or scrapes. They do not lay anything down, but I am not sure it was even necessary. Great job!

That's the story. I would NEVER even consider hiring this company to do anything for me. I'm sure that the installers are very nice people, but at this point I have a very low level of confidence that this is going to be done correctly. The only thing that this company could do to make it up to me is to COMP me the entire order and get it right this time.
Description of Work: We purchased the vanity top, thresholds, and inserts for all of our shelves through the vendor who provided all of our bathroom fixtures. The fixture vendor was the one who measured for and ordered all of our Silestone. (We purchased tile from a third vendor with the help of our private installer.) EVERYTHING arrived as scheduled, with the exception of the order from Maryland Stone Source. We kept getting promised dates, and then the date would slip, and then slip again, and then again. They really made our other provider look bad, as they were the ones who had to keep changing our date. We received our Silestone at the END of the second week of installation. This caused a domino effect. First of all, our installers were unable to install all of our tile because they needed to make sure that there was room for the slab to slide into place. The remainder of the tile wouldn't be installed until after the stone. The stone would also be installed in the cutouts for shampoo, toilet paper, toothbrushes, etc. (a total of five cutouts.) This also caused a delay in sealing the floor and installing the shower doors. When the stone order arrived, there were pieces missing, the vanity top was cut incorrectly (the wrong size and without a hole for the faucet), and the single 62" ledge for the shower door (the curb, if you will) was sent to us in TWO pieces. Unacceptable. This was at 4 pm on a Friday afternoon, too late to do anything about it. We called the vendor who ordered it for us and they promised us that the fabricator (Maryland Stone Source) would be at our house FIRST THING MONDAY MORNING. On Monday, "first thing" became "11 a.m." which then became "they can't come today and will come at 11 a.m. on Tuesday." On Tuesday, "11 a.m." became "some time between 11 and 2." At nearly 3 when the installers finally showed up, they said "we're here to cut the hole in your vanity top." Uh, no. What about the rest of the work that needed to be fixed? They started by cutting a notch to get the vanity top to fit, which left a 1/2 inch gap on the other side of the vanity and a rough edge where they cut the notch. Unacceptable. So, now here we are, more than two weeks after the pieces were ordered and they are incorrect and now I don't have any idea when I'll get them. My installers have had to go on to another job because they can't just sit here twiddling their thumbs waiting with nothing to do until the stone arrives. I will say that Murky, the leader of the team, was very thorough in taking notes and making sure that the measurements were going to be correct this time. The first measurements were actually correct, but the fabrication was not. Let's hope that this time they get it right and this time it doesn't take more than two weeks to get the pieces we need. I would really like to be able to shower in my new bathroom.

Each step of the process was tortuous. 1. Lana super slow response after initially being highly engaged in process of my selection of slab.2. Once I confirmed slab and mentioned I would be away, Lana told source to wait to deliver slab, throwing schedule off completely. She made decision w/o consulting me.3. When I went to indicate what parts of slab I wanted where, no one was prepared-no stencil cutouts, no masking tape, wrong sink from what was in my instructions (that part was easily fixed, yet says not listening to customer). Spent 2 hrs laying out with Luke and at the end he said one slab was not enough. I had reserved two. They should have known one was not enough as they had the drawings.4. 2nd slab delivered 4 days later than was promised, throwing installation schedule off--I had to reschedule plumber.5. When I expressed my concern to various staff members about stuff falling thru cracks (no pun intended) and areas ignored they basically told me I didn't understand. In passing I mentioned to Luke that I was considering reporting them to the Maryland Better Business Bureau because of poor customer service. Mert offered me a refund of deposit. Because I liked the slab and had invested so much time I did not want to start the process over from scratch, I elected to let the past snafus go and proceed with installation, to which Luke agreed only if I emailed him stating I would not report them to the Maryland Better Business Bureau. I emailed Luke and copied my plumber (Gary Guay) with whom Luke spoke on 5.16.12.6. Installation 5.17.12 was nightmare: A. Murky did not bring drop cloths or construction weight trash bags, saying they would not harm the floor. B. Installers did not seal/caulk against wall, claiming that that was not part of the process and giving me the information on what type of caulk to purchase . C. Stovetop did not fit their cutout and they were all set to leave stove sitting--said wood needed to be shaved and they weren't carpenters--until I insisted and stated the work order included putting back everything so that it would be ready to hook up. D. Edges of granite against the walls not polished. E. Did not put electrical back until I insisted. F. Split wood of cabinets in places and gouged plaster walls to which Luke commented that these things happen. I have pictures of all the damage.6. Today my plumber came back to hook up garbage disposal, faucet, cooktop stove. The drawers under the stove don't fit anymore. I called Watkins Cabinet (custom designer of kitchen) who will send someone out in a month to refit the drawers and refinish where damanged. Plumber also caulked what MD Stone Source should have done as standard. 7. I need to get the kitchen walls repaired and one wall in the dining room (granite on pass thru) repaired--beginning with replastering and ending with painting. At one time Maryland Stone Source were good, as I went on a recommendation. While the ownership remains the same, something in their service delivery and installation has changed since person who recommended them had counters intalled.
Description of Work: Granite measurement, layout, installation. Mert-owner and person who measured, Lana-point of contact, Luke-layout person, Murky-installer.
