It turned out fine. They were pretty thorough. They walked us through the project before they started. They spent a lot of time helping to configure the closet. They gave us some options on design configurations which was nice. They did put some pressure on us to buy theirs on that day which irritated me a little bit.

It went fabulous. They are wonderful. Their prices are not low but the quality is top notch. The designer first came to the house, then the project manager came, and then the installer. They all took their shoes off when they entered the house out of respect for my house. Everything they build is custom built. Both closet turned out really great.

The entire process was very smooth from start to finish, from getting the estimate, scheduling the work and having the work done. We have had Closet America do work for us twice. Once for our upstairs bedroom closets and once for new kitchen cabinets. The installers always clean up after themselves, are very polite and courteous. We had multiple phone calls throughout the process to confirm information and make sure that everything was going okay.

Scheduling an appointment was quick and easy. The representative showed up on time and was very friendly. I was told to budget up to 2 hours for the experience. I showed him the layout of the closet, explained my needs, and he walked me through a pitch on the company. That pitch took about 30 minutes. After that, he began working on the design. There is a soffit in my closet and he could not figure out what to do with that space. The design consultation took so long that I ended up accepting some phone calls during the process because I was just waiting around. At some point, I suggested a solution for under the soffit, which he agreed to, and moved on to complete the rest of the design. At the end of the process, he shared estimated prices from other closet solutions: home depot, upscale competitors, custom millwork, etc. After that, he asked me to guess the price of his closet (at this point, we were about 2.5 hours in to the evening appt) in order to get a prize. I guessed within a few hundred dollars to find out my "prize" was that he would take my husband and I to McDonald's or give us $20 off our order. Then, he explained that there would be further discounts for signing on that night. We'd need to display a sign in our yard, provide names of friend's, etc and we would get additional money off. The catch is that this promotion was only available the night of the estimate. If I called back tomorrow with a deposit and agreeing to do promotional work for them, I could not get the discount. After almost 3 hours, I was pretty frustrated by this lack of flexibility for a seemingly expensive product (~$4,000) from a company who had just pitched their ethics to me earlier in the evening. I declined to move forward with them and had another estimate from a competing company the following evening. I felt sorry for the rep, who had also lost 3 hours of his evening, because he seemed very nice. However, I'd highly recommend that Closets by America be more respectful of people's time and allow for more flexibility on promotions. I live in a new development with 230 townhomes - I'm certain that agreeing to put a sign in my yard 1 or 2 days later would have still had the same positive impact on their business. Given what I was told by Closets by America, I expected that the competing company would charge at least the same amount, if not more, for their services. Needless to say, I was very surprised when I received a quote from Closet Stretchers for $1700 and their rep designed it for me about 25 minutes without my help. She also provided a design that better managed my soffit and lifestyle. This company may not have the same quality materials - although they also carry a lifetime guarantee - but their quote was less than Closets by America's estimated DIY cost from Home Depot. I went with the other company and was happy with my experience.

I needed additional closet space for shoes, jeans, and sweaters. Closet America installed the units that I wanted specific to my needs. All employees were extremely professional, prompt, and courteous. Every phone call or appointment was met with a follow-up call. I would certainly use Closet America again and refer them to a friend.

Excellent job by sales rep in my home. Install was prompt, excellent & competent. Quality of product exceeded expectations.

Closet America very promptly sent out a sales person/design representative and we met with this person for an hour and a half to discuss their products and service. The representative used a CAD software in his computer to draw up a model and specs for a simple closet organizer. This was largely based upon ideas that my wife - an interior design professional - and I - also with decades of building and design experience - gave the representative. Most of the representative's presentation consisted of a strong sales pitch for how good the company is. Much less time was spent on their products and services and the quality of these. Because the representative took so long on this, our consultation meeting was far longer than with other companies and accomplished less in practical terms. We were unable to discuss details such as drawer from style and handles, wood finished to be used etc. in any detail. We found the approach of Closet America quite unprofessional in that we were subjected to a barrage of hard sell tactics : We were offered a price and then a 20% lower price, but only if we accepted it on the spot before the representative left. When we explained we were getting three competing bids and wanted time to review these, the Closet America representative said that his manager would not accept this. We could only do this by signing a contract and then canceling it later. We also requested to be given a detailed written proposal giving specifics of the system to be installed. The price quoted was over $2000.00, so we would have expected this to be provided. However, we were told by the Closet America representative that his manager would not allow him to give us this. The reason given was that they were concerned we would steal their intellectual property!The Closet America representative called his office and asked them to email us the design specs and 3-D drawing. We told them we had no interest in their software, but simply wanted to be able to compare proposals carefully before making a decision. In the event, Closet America never sent the information we requested and never followed up on emails we sent requesting it. When we called them a day later and spoke to the manager of the representative, he also said they would give us no information about the system they proposed because the design was part of their intellectual property. This is rather like trying buy a car, but the dealer won't give you any detailed specs because they're part of the car manufacturer's intellectual property. So, in effect, you are being asked to spend thousands of dollars, sight unseen!! I had to explain to the Closet America representative that I had worked in a major international investment finance institution for over 25 years, handling large-scale procurement on projects in the $50-500m range. In all my years of experience never had I been told I could not be given the detailed specs for a procurement contract. For this reason, I told the manager we could not do business with them.

Very pleased with this. High quality of materials and installations.They worked with me to provide exactly what I wanted. Price was a little higher than do it yourself installation but well worth it due to higher quality materials and custom work.

I chose them because they are a local company, they seem to have higher level products and customer service. Those things all seem to be true. They were very professional and customer service oriented. Everything was clean and done very neatly. They communicated well with me and I'd definitely recommend them.

An estimator first came out and looked at the closets. We then got a computer presentation on what can be done to better organize the closets and what the closets would look like. We were given the pricing and decided it was fair based on what was being done. We then had a project manager come to our house to do final measurements and decide if there would be any changes. The third visit was the installation of the shelving and cabinets. All cutting of the materials and fitting had been done in Closet America's manufacturing warehouse, which reduced the installation time. The materials used are very good quality and the installation team was clean, competent, helpful and very professional. The finished product really helped us organize our closets and turned out wonderfully. Closet America's team were always professional, polite, punctual and we always received a phone call beforehand to verify the appointments. The overall project from start to finished was outstanding. A very good team effort from a great organization. We had decided to use Closet America based on reviewing previous members reviews on Angie's List and they lived up to the reviews. I will refer them to anyone needing to have their closets/garage organized. Our expectations were exceeded.

I moved into my home on October 14, 2009 and knew before I moved into the home that I wanted to upgrade from the builder's closet that came with the house. I contacted Closet America a couple of weeks before moving into my home. They did a consultation with me at their office and a few days later, a representative came to my house to take all the necessary measurements as well as restate my initial requirements for the closet. Once this was done, an installer came a few days later. He was punctual and professional and completed the work well within the stated time frame given. My only nit would be he could have done a better job at cleaning the residue left on the wood. Other than that, I'm pleased with the results.

Overall it was a great experience. The design really utilized the space and provided me with a beautiful clsoier that has so much room. Thequality of the materials is amazing. The drawers that Closet Ameican built are among the best I have seen. The staff at Clsoet America were wonderful to work with. They were responsive and very customer oriented. They were prompt and responded as promised. The installation went very smoothly and the installer left the area very clean and ready to use. There wer some small changes that were needed after installation and again they were prompt and professional. An excellent organization that I would use again and highly recommend!

They are very professional and they send someone out to measure and then they send someone else out to measure again. I ran into some glitches because I live in an old building with plaster walls. They don’t usually work with plaster walls but they had already given me a quote, so they had my sign something that would relinquish them from responsibility if there were problems with the plaster. I worked with them and we came to an agreement. They were professional and polite, they always took off their shoes when coming into the house so they didn’t track in dirt, and their materials are high quality. They had to make an adjustment but they came back and did it and they didn’t charge me until it was done and I was satisfied. Overall, I would recommend them.

Closet America's product looked fine, we did not go with them because it was too expensive.

I was very pleased. We went over the design ideas, and they brought a computer so I was able to see everything in 3D. They took accurate measurements and got everything ready, so when the technician arrived, he was able to get started. When the technician came in, he had a question about one thing, and he didn’t move forward until he got my approval. He was a very bright person, and he was able to think outside the box. Everything was spotlessly clean when the work was complete. Their price was incredibly fair. With my particular closet system, I had to paint my walls ahead of time, which was the only drawback. A few weeks afterwards, they called me to make sure everything was working smoothly. I would highly recommend them to anyone. In fact, I have given my friends their business cards.
