SMO

An outdoor AC inverter stopped working during a heat wave (when daily temperatures were in excess of 100 degrees). To address the problem, I called the company that originally installed the unit, but they were so busy that they didn't have or make time to troubleshoot the unit. So I called SMO/DMO and asked if they could check it out. The repairmen fixed the unit, even though the repair work is difficult for this particular model. The team was responsive and responsible, and worked hard to fix the unit. I was very glad to have used them and would again.

They come out every year to service it, but they will come out in between services if there are any problems. This is part of the contract. I have never had any problems with them.

They are the cheapest. I give them an A across the board and would use them again.

Once we had the unit, it took a very long time to get it working. The salesman that sold us the unit forgot to put us in the system and after that we didn't get the correct service. We then had to contact the supervisors. The equipment is currently working and the price was reasonable, but the customer relations were horrible. We will continue to only use their service for oil.

Home heating oil delivery has been consistent and accurately timed all but one time, when we converted to a geothermal system that uses less oil. (I think after sending trucks out a few times and finding us full, they registered us as an infrequent user and took us off their computerized delivery system. That was fine until we ran out of oil one night and had to call it in! Now the program has been adjusted and we're back on the schedule.) For the most part their emergency repair technicians are prompt, courteous and efficient (though one guy did spend an oddly long time in our basement for no apparent reason), and seem to really know our equipment and its idiosyncrasies well. Repairs and maintenance contract pricing is reasonable and there have been no ugly surprises. Some of the technicians have gone out of our way to give us helpful tips (e.g., turn off the system for half an hour before delivery to lessen impact of fuel-line sludge) and we've been happy with the scheduling staff too. Overall we have been very satisfied with SMO.

Thought people would want to know that they will only do service if you have an oil contract. I wanted to save people the time of calling and sitting on hold only to find that out. I was disappointed.

They are punctual. You call and make an appointment and they always give you a good window, like 12 to 2 or 12 to 4. They?ve always been here whenever they?ve said that they were going to. I don?t remember them ever calling having to cancel or anything. If you don?t have any heat in the middle of the night, and if you have a contract with them, they?ll be here, no matter what time of the night it is. As per the contract, they have to be here within a certain number of hours. I don?t have to worry about the oil delivery because it is automatic, and when they fill the oil up, they just stick the bill in the door. I am on some kind of a plan whereby I have to pay the same amount every month for the oil. They stretch it out over the years. The price is competitive when compared to other providers around here.

My house runs on oil. Even the water gets heated by using oil. So, I wanted to get a water heater installed. I usually get my oil from Southern Maryland Oil, so I decided that I?d get the water heater from them. They already knew my system, my house and my furnace. I have been using Southern Maryland Oil for about 15 years now. Since they did the work, my electric bills have gone down drastically. Even my oil bills have reduced. I haven?t used any oil for heating water, since the heater was installed. Southern Maryland Oil didn?t charge me for the labor.

We have used them for 18 years and they are always fabulous. They are friendly and answer all of our questions. The work is always done correctly and the staff is very professional. I would recommend them to other people anytime. They are great.

I THINK THEY ARE VERY PROMPT, MY ONLY COMPLAINT IS SOME TIMES THEY SEND THE WRONG PEOPLE OUT. SOME OF THE GUYS ARE GREAT AND REALLY KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING AND OTHERS JUST DON'T.

I THOUGHT THAT THEY WERE AN EXCELLENT COMPANY. I WOULD RECOMMEND THEM TO ALL MY FRIENDS. I THOUGHT THAT THEY DID A GOOD JOB AND PROVIDED GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE.
