They responded to my request quickly, provided a preliminary estimate right away based on the pictures I sent them. They came out a few days afterward to measure, and kept the price they had quoted (I was a little worried they would raise the estimated amount), which was about $200 cheaper than another company I had contacted. The glass came in within the time frame they had estimated (2-3 weeks), and they called me to schedule the installation for the following week. They showed up within the time window they had provided, finished installing the windows in only a few minutes, and cleaned up well afterward. The windows look great and, needless to say, I was very pleased with the whole process.

The window that came in had the wrong grid pattern between the glass. Talked with John and he quickly agreed to make it right at no additional charge. He told me to take home the glass and bring in the broken one and he'd fix it. He had the broken one fixed the next day and it looked like new again. Would definitely use again.

Thay came out within a week to measure up the glass! I've waited for someone to do this for years, and finally found these guys' local in La Plata thru some friends from La Plata Mill. I think I used someone from Angies list once and several others that wanted me to replace entire windows or at least 5 of them and get a deal! I could write again when the windows are installed to tell you how they did, but, if They are anything like Kevin or John Gragan, then I have no worries! By the way, I calle Angies List to recommend a local contractor, and not one was local to me!

I called Gragan & Sons Glass in La Plata, MD after a search on Angie's List for shower glass/door installers in my area. The shower glass/door would be installed in a new bathroom. John was very nice to work with from the first phone call. After getting their location, I went to the shop to make some style decisions, ask questions, discuss options, get an understanding of the process and timeline, and get a cost estimate. I also contact another installer, but that installer didn't seem as interested in my business. I understand that everyone doesn't just rush out to the house to measure on every call/inquiry, but when the process involves giving details and having discussions by phone first - almost committing to giving that installer the work before they will come out to measure - the installer should really act like they are interested in getting my business in initial phone conversations. After about a week of discussions, I believe that it was Sean who came out to measure as scheduled on December 8, 2015 and the order was finalized. I gave a credit card number for final payment (no deposit was charged to my card at that point) and I was given a final cost that was approximately $100 more than the initial estimate. The additional cost was because of work needed by the glass maker (walls not straight and because of the placement of the rain shower head, the glass needed to be a bit higher than the normal height). I was told that the glass normally takes 2-1/2 - 3 weeks to come in, but because of the upcoming holidays season, that timeline could not be guaranteed. I was also told that some glass places close for a couple of weeks around the holidays. I got a call on December 23, 2015 letting me know that the glass was in and we arranged for installation on December 31, 2015 at around noon. The same person who measured came as scheduled on New Years Eve with another worker and completed the install. I'm very happy with what I got, the price (compared to the other installer's phone guess estimate and what my contractor said it would cost). The process was much smoother than I expected.

Windshield is installed and so far looks fine. That's not the issue, other than their prices being a bit steep. *** I took my car in today to have the windshield replaced. After picking it up and taking my kid to the store, I get home to see a glop of someone's blood is half dry on the front passenger seat. I get gloves and a bleach solution and clean it off, then call the store to tell them about it, to convey how upset I am and to tell them that if the bleach solution stains my upholstery (which I assume it will once dry) that I'll be buying seat covers and bringing my receipt in to them for reimbursement. I can only assume that if they were so sloppy to as not see a glop of blood, maybe its on other surfaces in the car too. The guy on the phone says that if I had just brought it back in they would have cleaned it for me with water, and if that didn't get it off they sometimes use a Lysol wipe. I say "yes, but that doesn't get rid of blood borne pathogens" which is why I used bleach solution, per CDC website, in case whoever's blood that is has Hepatitis which lives in dried blood on surfaces for a week. He says "I don't know that any of my guys has Hepatitis", to which I reply, " Me neither, that's why I used bleach!" and while we're at it, I'm now glad that I didn't bring it in for you to clean if all you were going to do was use cold water and maybe a Lysol wipe! He persists in saying repeatedly "young lady..." which I find patronizing, "my boss isn't going to pay a couple hundred dollars for new seat covers when you didn't bring it in right away and can't prove it was our blood". Ridiculous. A new seat cover might run me $50, and I shouldn't have to pay for that. If I had brought it right back and insisted on a professional cleaner, it would have cost a lot more. And it is pretty reasonable to surmise that someone cutting glass in my car this very day would be the source of a brand new blood stain, don't you think? I will go in with receipt to talk to his boss on Monday and will continue to post bad reviews in every venue I find if they do not make this right.

The new window and window sash were installed two weeks after being ordered as promised. They look good, and I am pleased with the work.
Description of Work: He inspected the windows in my house, and adjusted those that needed adjustment. He measured and ordered a new window sash for one that had a crack in the glass. He also ordered and installed a replacement window for one that was either defective and/or had been installed incorrectly by the builder.

I called several glass companies about replacing a double pane window on the ground story that was broken in a and quot;ball incidentand quot;. Gragan was the least expensive. They came out on time, called in advance, and measured. Then they came back a few days later and did the replacement. They were fast, efficient and courteous. I would certainly use them again.

All staff members were courteous, professional and informative. The installation was mess free and the end product was beyond my expectations. The quality was far superior than buying at a large home improvement store. I would not hesitate to contact Gragan and Sons in the future and highly recommend their services. |

In previous years, they have replaced broken glass in windows and various things that we can reinstall into the homeowners place. I liked that they worked with us and they were able to match up and replace the glass so that it looks brand new.

The car was ready in 1 hour which seemed an alarmingly quick turnaround time. It was given back to me with dirty handprints and dirty pantleg marks all over both black fenders of my car that I had just washed prior to bringing it in. There were lots of scratches in the clearcoat on the side and top surfaces of the passenger side fender where the technician had clearly dragged himself all over the fender during the job without using a fender cover to protect the paint. There were also new, deep scratches in the middle of the hood up against the windshield with the shavings from where the clear coat was gouged still sitting there bearing witness to the fresh scratches. The new rubber moulding around the new windshield has an area about 3" long that does not lay flat but it's urethaned in so there isn't anything that can be done about it now and I am definitely not bringing the car back in after seeing how poorly it was treated. The only good thing I can say about this repair is that the new windshield does not leak. But I am very upset that this business skipped the courtesy of using fender covers on my well-cared after car and in doing so caused scratches deep enough that some of them can not be sanded and buffed out and are now permenant. I chose to try Gragan instead of a chain glass installer in the hopes that a family owned business would have taken more pride in their work but in this regard I was very disappointed. I will definitely not use Gragan again. Any shop that fails to use a fender cover before performing work that requires leaning on an obviously well-cared for car does not deserve my business. In the future I will try to find an auto body and paint shop that also does glass installations in the hope that such an establishment will pay much greater attention to quality and will be much more careful to protect painted surfaces when performing such a service.
