Went well pleased with the service. They were on time, they were professional service performed in a timely manner.

You should hire these guys. The little project today was minor - but we had them do a much bigger job when our basement was all moldy from a slow seep in the wall. They were thorough, professional, very reasonably priced and Kurt answered our many questions with patience and clearly lots of knowledge. The cost for that job was $1,500 and included a bunch of demo work including walls and carpet and a bunch of stuff we had stored there. They set up barriers for the area, hauled all that stuff away, treated the mold and put encapsulant on all surfaces to keep it from ever coming back. I can't recommend them more highly. Who comes in and sees a smallish problem and just fixes it for no charge? Call them and if they can't get to you right away, WAIT.

I spoke to Walt about doing an estimate to remove mold that resulted from a leak in our garage roof. Although we were slightly outside of their service area, Walt was agreeable to coming out as I was having difficulty finding and/or receiving a response from other companies with the proper mold removal certifications. Walt was able to fit us into the schedule quickly and was friendly and professional during his visit to perform the air testing and gather the necessary information to provide an estimate for the mold remediation. He contacted us promptly both by email and phone with the estimate and was able to schedule the job, all within a few days. Kurt supervised the job and went above and beyond the call of duty. Prior to his arrival, we had not yet been able to confirm the source of the leak in the roof. Our roof is quite complex, having many different angles and being steeply pitched above the garage. A roofing company had attempted to locate the leak, but had been unsuccessful as well. Although this was not part of the service, Kurt (an experienced roofer) spent considerable time trying to find the source of the leak himself using our garden hose. He was able to isolate the area and when we called the roofers back, they concentrated on that area and were finally able to repair the roof. It's been a little over 6 months since all the repairs were completed and we've had no further water damage or mold growth. I gave AHS a rating of "N/A" for pricing as I cannot compare their pricing to other companies, who had an opportunity to provide additional estimates, but never responded to inquires. We highly recommend American Home Services.

Kurt is a joy to work with. This mold came about at the same time my husband and I found out we were pregnant, and he worked with us on pricing by telling us things we could do ourselves to get the costs down. He is incredibly knowledgeable on the subject matter and very responsive to all the calls we made to him both before and after the work (we are now having some potential mold issues elsewhere and Kurt has responded to every call we've made). He has referred us to other honest, knowledgeable contractors to help us solve some of the issues we continue to have (unrelated to the work Kurt did). His prices are extremely fair. Finding out you have mold in your home is really upsetting, but the good news is that Kurt and his team are reliable, smart, trustworthy and responsive.

Kurt (owner), Seth and Joe did a wonderful job. When I met Kurt, I knew I was going to hire his team. They were efficient, professional, clean, and hardworkers. They enclosed all first floor doorways with plastic, covered the floors so what they did remove via the first floor/front door did not infect or dirty the rest of the home. Kurt explained what he was going to do, why he felt what he recommended was the right course of action and then proceeded to follow through. Kurt has followed up with me to make sure that I am satisfied and has made other recommendations. I would not hesitate to use this business in the future. His office is very efficient and professional in working with the customer.

Professional, Knowledgeable, Integrity, Reasonable Price, Quick Response, these are some of the characteristics that I would use to describe Kurt Randell and AHS. We have used several mold remediation services and Air Quality Checks in the past at various properties with mixed results. Based on reviews and my external validations of Kurt?s certifications we used AHS. Simply put, we were Very Happy. Kurt was easy to schedule, prompt to arrive, and leveraged several electronic tools, including infrared, moisture meter, and an air sampling to determine if we had an issue. Our experience with AHS was identical if not better then the others on Angies List. Our primary goal was to determine allergens in the air as one family member was experiencing heightened allergies in the basement. We had 5 air samples taken through out the house and no issues were identified. Kurt also checked for excessive moisture/ water in the basement to determine if we had a leak or water seeping in through the basement. After one of the bigger June 2013 storms experienced in Metro DC (yes those), Kurt came back after the initial work was completed to determine if we had a basement issue. Kurt found slightly elevated moisture levels in one 3' X 4' section of the basement, but not enough to warrant remediation. Instead we placed this on the watch list. Kurt could have easily attempted to make this into an issuing requiring remediation and bigger dollars, but he did not. That shows integrity and commitment to his work. We would not hesitate to use Kurt/ AHS again.

Kurt from American Home Services gave us a free estimate on mold remediation -- we have a small water spot that may have mold under it in our pantry from a leaky jug of water. He was extremely professional and helpful. He came to do the estimate within 2 days of my call, and was very honest and up front about the extent of the damage. He did not think we needed to do anything about it unless we really wanted to since it was so minor. He gave us some suggestions for how we could clean the spot ourselves to potentially get rid of any mold that might have been there, but he said that even if there was mold, it was very minimal. This shows his honestly because he could have easily told us that it was worse than it was just to make money off of us. I would definitely recommend American Home Services to anyone who wants honest opinions on a mold situation. Thank you!

Fabulous. They have done work for me at 10 separate properties and I have never had a negative experience. They do what they say they will do, when they say they will do it.

Mr Randell and his team did a wonderful job to treat the mold in our large and unfinished basement. They paid attention to all details, carefully hand wiped and moved all contents inside the basement and sprayed the wood structures. They tried to think from the customer's perspective and we are totally satisfied with their services.

The work was quick, thorough and professional. They did an excellent job cleaning up after themselves which is a big plus in my mind.

AHS did a great job in responding to our mold remediation needs in a bathroom ceiling. They were very responsive to the need for prompt scheduling and they coordinated well with the contractor to rebuild the parts of the ceiling resected after the mold had been cleaned out. They were also thorough and excellent in responding to questions about future mold prevention. I definitely recommend AHS for professionalism and high quality work.

They came at on 10/9./12 on time and removed the carpet from the living room, dining room,and the stairs leading upstairs. They used chemicals on the concrete slab (since I have no basement) and started the remediation process. I was very satisfied with their service and would recommend the company to anyone for mold remediation.

Everyone at American Home Services is friendly and professional. They are also honest and will not try to convince you to spend money on unnecessary work. We are very pleased with the remediation work they did for us.

I called for an estimate and Walt was able to come out the same day. I was most interested in getting the work done on my rental property but I enjoyed his professionalism so much I told him about a small area of mold in my basement at my primary residence that I was concerned about. After seeing the rental property, he jumped in the car and followed me for the 5 miles over to my primary residence in another part of Alexandria. He gave me a discount to do both jobs on the same day. Pricing felt steep but he was upfront about what the costs were so I was prepared. I agreed to have the work done and after signing the papers, the work was done the next week. I met Curt (Kurt?) and his crew in the morning and he spend a good amount of time going over everything with me before I left. I got several calls from Curt during the day to tell me about the status and inquire how i wanted certain things handled. He went out of his way to remove extra debris from the basement for me and also painted all of a wall instead of just part of it (for the same price). These guys were fantastic to work with - prompt, professional and very courteous.

After seeing small signs of mold in our basement as well as the dreaded "musty" smell, we called American Home Services. Kurt Randall came out and spent close to 30 minutes looking at the basement and finding active signs of mold through out the entire basement. Additionally he showed me the off-the-charts moisture behind the walls. We discussed several options on how to proceed with the mold remediation that worked within our budget as well as completely and totally removing the mold. They were quick to schedule us after signing the agreement. On the day they started, they showed up promptly and got to work. Kurt was there to supervise every day of the work. He graciously took pictures of the mold as they went in case of further action on our part. Additionally, he brought us down to see the issues during each step. Lastly, as they discovered issues with the basement plumbing and electrical, took care to point them out and even capped a live wire for us. He also provided us with names and numbers of companies that they often use for build back and HVAC cleaning after the project. We were completely satisfied with their work and while we hope to never need their services again, the next time we fear mold, we know who to call.

I called to schedule a time to get an estimate, after seeing a black spot on my basement bathroom ceiling. I spoke with Walt and he informed me that I was out of his service area. But he gladly talked to me to understand my situation. After our conversation I felt more comfortable, since the area that was showing mold was cut away by my plumber. For now a real good HEPA air purifier should take care any spores in my basement. I'm having all my pipes replaced, so I shouldn't have any more leak (hopefully ;-D). But , if it looks like mold is growing I'll begin the hunt for a provider in my area. Thanks again for the help Walt.

AHS was very professional and they delivered all of the services they promised on time and within budget.

Overall excellent experience. I called on Thursday afternoon and they were able to come out on Friday morning. Walt was very thorough with his inspection and gave me several options for treating the problem. I would definitely recommend this company for mold testing and remediation.

As soon as I called them, Walt came out to inspect my house and give me an estimate. He was very professional and courteous while he was there. He outlined what they would do to rid my house of the mold and Curt was out to my house within a few days to take care of the job and trac k down the leak that caused the mold to occur in the first place. He called and left me a very thorough description of what they found and what they did to get rid of it as well as where the source of the problem was. When I returned his call, he answered all my questions thoroughly. Shirley was also very helpful throughout the process of getting the job done and all in all I had a great experience with them. I would definitely use them again and recommend them highly.

Kurt Randall, the president of the company, came to my house to assess the situation and spent almost two hours answering my questions. His obvious care and extensive experience were the reasons I hired his firm. Kurt led a three-person team when American Home Services came to the house to do their two-day remediation effort. They were thorough, effective, and easy to work with. This is some of the best customer service I've experienced and Kurt's team's expertise and effort matched his word. Great job--I would hire them again!

Great service! This company remediated the mold in our basement - took out all drywall and ceilings. The house smells so much better. They completed the service in a shorter amount of time than originally estimated. The workmen were professional and totally cleaned everything when they were finished. I would definitely use this company again. They came in with a lower estimate than other companies contacted.

Walt was very personable, welcoming and even aggressive about serving me on the phone, stating they were the number one service provider on Angie's List and that they would match or beat any other prices from any other provider. Yet, he also stated there would be a $2000 minimum, which was suspect, and he had no idea what the extent of the damage would be. In addition, how would he know how much the actual repair would cost if there wasn't as much damage? I was impressed that he was willing to drive from Southern Maryland through Beltway traffic to get here. I apologized that my home was rather cluttered. He asked me who lived in this home, and I stated, "just me and my son". My laundry room had a lot of clothing strewn, which I had been reluctant to touch due to fear of spreading the mold, and so he refused to even attempt to inspect my laundry room because he stated he wouldn't have enough room for the equipment. He had told me to call the previous inspector who was scheduled to come to cancel prior to the visit. Then after he came and saw my laundry room, he stated that I would have to call the previous inspector to tell them to come instead, saying, "You know what? This isn't going to work." He stated that the air quality samples would be taken of the clothing, and not the air. He didn't even offer to help me clear it out or tell me to call when I cleared it out. He simply refused to serve me at all and told me to call the other inspector back, "He'll probably come back on short notice." I even postponed my longstanding hair appointment just to have this guy come out to tell me this "wasn't going to work" because of the sheer amount of clothing I have in the basement. I found him quite rude and unprofessional when he spoke to me in person. I have had quality service providers who will take the time to clear things out or problem solve if needed without being condescending or belittling in the process of performing their services. While he offered a cheaper price for inspection, Walt felt it necessary to refuse me service in a condescending manner. I wasn't made aware of how much preparation was involved prior to the inspection or testing, which would have been helpful. I was very disappointed at Walt's lack of professionalism. I have had better service providers who were willing to go the extra mile. I only experienced this service when AMS was initiating service. Shirley was very cordial on the phone. I was happy that they were very prompt in returning my email request. Nevertheless, I can't recommend them. Most companies who have great service don't have to brag about it. Their work shows through their customer interactions and their bedside manner. This is not one of them.

I was pleased with the company's responsiveness, courtesy, and the quality of their work.
