Winston's Gutter Service

We recently retained Winston's to clean the gutters of our new house and they did a really sketchy job. There was only one guy here doing the work and when we checked the downspout openings near the ground the next day, they still had clumps of leaves and other debris in them. The previous owners of this house used Winston's, so they've had good business from this property. Losing that business is apparently not enough incentive for Winston's to respond to calls and emails inquiring about why the work was not properly performed and requesting estimates for gutter repairs. When sharing our story with friends, they've told us that Winston's used to be great but that it's really gone downhill. We will likely try a different company for our gutter work.

Would use Winston's again for cleaning...but, not for repairs or replacements. This is actually a disappointment to me, as they have been so reliable for so many years...

Excellent used for several years efficient and professional

well. they identified other work needed, and I have received an estimate.

They cleaned them and left the debris in a disposable lawn bag.

I was quoted ( on the phone) the estimated cost of cleaning gutters would be between $200 and $400 in this area where there are larger homes. They do not do estimate prior to doing the job.

Set up a time Saturday morning and they never showed. Called the guy and it was clear he totally forgot but then made up a BS story about how he didn't have my number so couldn't call.

Great! They bagged and discarded all the junk from the gutters.

I have had a long standing relationship with them. They come out 5 times a year to empty the gutters. I am under contract with them. They are reasonably priced, punctual, and responsive.

Failed to clean out a small downspout that filled up completely with leaves over a period of time, causing water backup and leakage into our house and thousands of dollars of damage.

They did an adequate job of cleaning my gutters but then a few months later they called on my cellphone to ask if i wanted more work done. I said no and told them not to call me again (I'm on do-no-call lists and don't appreciated being solicited for business). Now, several months later they called me again on my cellphone to solicit more business. It's unprofessional, annoying, and possibly illegal for them to contact me by cellplhone, especially when I've directed them not to. I won't use them again.

They could have better communication and better scheduling.

They were fine. We will recommend them. They don't give you a specific time. They just tell you that they're going to come. You don't need to be there at your home. So, you'll never have an interaction with them after the cleaning, for them to explain the bill and what was done. I don't know if that's something that every gutter cleaning company does. The price was within what we thought we were going to pay. We didn't have the final interaction with them. That would be my only complaint.

I called and was promised that someone would come out within two weeks and clean the gutters. Within a week the gutters were cleaned. The contents were left on the curb for the yard trash pickup.

Very responsive-- came quickly, didn't need to be there, and fixed price per foot of gutter, so did not need to get quote in advance. Gutters were cleaned out well, and debris from gutters bagged and put on curb for pickup. Additional reasonable charge for clearing particularly clogged gutters. Inexpensive relative to many others out there.

The Winston guys arrived on 4/19/2015 and quickly cleaned the gutters. They did a great job, left no debris and bagged the debris for county pickup.

I have been using Winston's for the past few years to clean my gutters in Winter. I want them to come after all the leaves are off the trees (typically the first week in December) but before the gutters are frozen. As far as I can tell (since I don't go up on the roof to check), they do a fine job. However, while they will sign you up for the gutter cleaning in advance, they will only give you one day's notice of when they are coming (and ask that you turn the outside water on). This is understandable because of our unpredictable weather, but it means that you are never sure when they are coming until the day before; I wish they could work more predictability into their system, e.g. give customers a more predictable experience, weather permitting.

Unfortunately, I had a negative experience with this company. I called about two weeks ago to have my gutters cleaned, and I was told that they would call when someone was coming which would probably be in the next day or so. A week passed, and then one day a worker showed up at my house ready to clean the gutters. I was annoyed that I wasn't called, but okay - I went with it. That day, I was pretty sure that the worker did not clean the rear gutters. I was at home the entire time, and was ready to ask him to make sure to clean the rear gutters too, but before I had the chance to ask, the worker drove off having stuck an invoice in my screen door. He knew I was home, and I would have really appreciated him knocking on the door and telling me that he was done so that I could have had the chance to ask some questions. Who just runs off like that? So, I had to call the company, and I left a message saying that I didn't think my rear gutters were cleaned and I asked someone to call me back. No one called for two days. Then, one morning at 8:15 AM there is a worker from their company on my ROOF cleaning out the rear gutters. No phone call back, no warning, nothing. I called the company again and got to speak to someone. I asked why I wasn't called, and she said that I was listed as someone who didn't want to be called or notified. Huh??!! I never requested such a thing. At every turn, the service was bad or head-scratching. I will not be using this place again.

I couldn't recommend them highly enough. They were cheap. Came the next day. They don't demand a credit card ahead of time. I wasn't there but they came and did the work, bundled up the debri and left the bill. I'll use them again.

When I called Winston's yesterday, a friendly, knowledgable woman explained the service and cost. Three gentleman were at my house to do the job today--my gutters are now spotless, and all gutter debris is packed neatly in lawn bags, waiting to be picked up by the county. They left me a bill, stating cost as well as a recommendation for a repair we need on one of our gutters--not an invented repair, but actually something we do need to take care of (and will be asking Winston's to do for us). When they initially told me they'd fit us in within two weeks, I started looking around for someone who could come sooner--I'm so glad I didn't find anyone, because besides taking care of our job within 36 hours of my initial call, they were SO easy to deal with! I highly recommend.

We have used Winston's now for about 5 years to clean our gutters and have always been very happy with the service. I happened to be home when they came by this time and asked about the gutter over the porch that was slightly out of position. He said that realigning it would be another service call but nevertheless he got on a ladder to take a look and ended up just re-securing it properly without charging me anything extra.;That is customer service that creates client loyalty;I highly recommend this company.

We found Winston's on Angie's and they have always been great. This week though, they left five large paper bags full of gutter refuse next to our trash bin out front. The trash service won't take them. We called Winston's and there was nothing they would do for us unless we paid an extra fee for them to come back and haul their trash. We don't have a truck or a trailer, so now we have to haul five heavy paper bags of dirt and leaves to the dump or the recycling pickup point before the rain turns them to mush and they burst. This is a giant pain. I'd have preferred to pay a bit more for better service. ***UPDATE*** Winston's followed up and after some discussion, they came and removed their trash. They had assumed the trash company would take it, but the trash company did not. Full marks for catching the problem and making it right,

Winston's first came out to clean our gutters and give an estimate for gutter repairs. At first, the service seemed alright--they came out the day after we called and seemed to do a thorough job. After they left, however, we noticed that they had scraped the paint off our back porch with their ladders and that they did not properly replace the gutter guards, causing the roofing shingles to bow at the ends. I called to tell them I noticed the problem with the guards and that I needed them to fix it when they came out for the repair we had scheduled. A two week window was given for the repair, and during that time we had a large rainstorm. Because the shingles were not laying flat on the roof, rain splashed over the gutters and caused a leak in the basement. Luckily we noticed this and demanded that Winston's come out immediately to fix the problem. While they came out that day, they were not at all apologetic. They blamed the problem on the gutter guards themselves and just removed them (even though they'd been there for years beforehand with no problems). Also, even though they were already at the house, they said they were not going to perform the repair we had scheduled. They said someone else would be out the fix that. Over three weeks later, someone finally came out (I thought they had forgotten us and was just going to call another company). They replaced a section of gutter and were about to leave when I went out to check their work. They had installed the gutter with the slope going in the opposite direction of the downspout, which means water would have just pooled in the corner and eventually overflowed! I could not believe that a company that supposedly specializes in gutters would have made such an obvious mistake. I made them redo the job, and then they charged me extra for it! Working with Winston's has been an absolute headache and has actually damaged to our house. I recommend you not let them cause damage to yours.

It's pretty hard to gauge because it's a simple matter. It's either done or it isn't done. It's completely unremarkable. They do inform me when they will be out and they are pretty prompt.

They did a great and thorough job -- cleaned and bagged up everything and left it on the curb for county pick-up.
