We had been considering a home generator for a few years as the power grid we are on has periodic problems, with no solution in sight from Dominion Power. We did our due diligance on interviewing a number of providers found on Angies List. In the end, we had a couple of good offers, but none we are responsive as Patrick Collins of Ritzau. LLC. Patricks team we very responsive and professional. From the time I asked to schedule for an estimate until the deal was complete...he was always matter of fact and to the point, timely with responses to my questions, and was always open and honest. His company is smaller than some I interviewed, and he actaully is the installer and has hands on the entire project. Others companies while competitive, had sales reps visit and do the estimates, and were not part of the install team. It has been my experience that you want to deal directly with the team lead for these types of projects, and Patrick was the best. The package deal included the lastest Generac 22KW generator, vice the 20KW that others offered. The long pole in the tent was getting Washington Gas to install upgraded gas meter that would accomodate the generator, and the Fairfax Country inspections. Overall this was an excellent experience. I would highly recommend Ritzau, LLC and Patrick Collins to anyone who is serious about getting a home generator. They are the pros and get down to business. Quick, professional and timely.

Patrick, who supervised the installation of a generator which I had, also worked up the initial recommendations and estimate. This generator was used, but that did not deter Patrick from coming up with a plan. Other contractors sent estimators who were more sales people than experienced generator contractors. Only Ritzau made the recommendation to replace the old fashioned transfer switch which came with the unit with an up to date digital transfer switch. This

Gernot gave us an estimate in 2012 and honored that same estimate in 2013. He's knowledgable, prompt, courteous and efficient. He estimated several days for the phases of the install but it all happened in 2 days. They poured the concrete slab (other people use pads or gravel which is cheaper and less durable), had the generator delivered and in place and his plumber out there doing the LP hookup in rapid order. The other guys were inside running wiring from our main and sub-panels (across the entire house) to the generator which we installed on the side away from bedrooms and closest to the LP hookup. It was either close to the electric box and run the LP across the house or vice versa. Went with the safer option of running wiring vs LP pipe. The guys worked FAST, quietly, courteously. They also put in a mobile link a few days later (took time to arrive) and hooked it up and it's worked fine ever since. Weekly self tests going fine so far and hope we never need this but in our area it's probably just a matter of time. Gernot also put in an AB switch for me so I can use my Briggs & Stratton 5500 portable in the very off chance of an outage and the Generac doesn't work... backup to the backup. He walked me through every step of every aspect of testing, using, etc and answered follow up questions. Gernot is great, wish everyone was as professional and no-nonsense as he was. Oh yeah, his estimate was a bit lower than several other companies. On a side note, I previously used a Generac Nexus automatic transfer switch in manual mode to connect my portable generator without having to run electrical cables throughout the entire house in an outage which made things MUCH easier when the power went out. Gernot just tested and used the existing transfer switch box so we didn't have that $1000 expense which was previously done by another electrical company. So, he was even willing to work with our existing stuff after making sure it worked and was installed right. Nice!

It went smoothly. I am extremely happy with the results.

It went very well. Mr. Collins provided plumbing to the newly added bathroom, kitchen, and bar. Redid the pipes in renovated laundry room. Installed plumbing for 2 outside hoses. Replaced old cooper pipes. He installed a tankless water heater. Moved the old water heater and waterproofed the basement. I am very happy with the service provided. Mr. Collins was very friendly and explained all of the options and processes clearly.

It has performed wonderfully as needed. We had an issue with a leak from one of the gas pipes feeding the generator and Patrick responded immediately.

Efficient estimate, rapid mobilization and permitting, and trouble free commissioning. Good communication and highly professional from start to finish.

Very responsive, professional, punctual, reasonable. Pricing was not inexpensive but was more competitive than other bids for the same jobs. Also, solutions to challenging installation problem were of a much higher quality than those of other electricians we'd consulted. Overall, we were extremely pleased with this company and would use them again and refer them with confidence to friends, colleagues, neighbors, and family.
