Usually, every year I get the furnace looked over to make sure everything is ok, although I didn't have it done last year. They always seem to do a good job and the people are nice and efficient and come when they say they will be here. It is usually a 2 week wait for service, unless it is an emergency. I think I called them once for an emergency and I only waited 2 days or something. They're the only people I ever use.

One person came out and it took 30 minutes. They didn't screw anything up. The area was left fine with no issues.

I have no complaints. They come and do what they are supposed to do and they leave. They are professional.

They are competent. I would recommend them.

My AC was 15 years old and starting to cause problems, so I decided to replace it. I wanted to get a heat pump (which also does some heating in winter) because my solar panels are generating more electricity than we use. I got quotes from two of the top-rated companies in the area. Both said I would get the best efficiency only if I replaced the gas furnace too. John of Davis & Davis had the better ideas of what components to choose from. In particular, he thought we should go with a 4-ton unit even though the building analysis indicated 5 tons, and I have always thought that smaller is better for air conditioning. The other company (bidding on the same configuration) strung together a series of discounts and still came in a couple hundred dollars higher. I chose a hybrid system consisting of a two-stage heat pump, a two-stage high-efficiency gas furnace, and a two-speed fan. They had never done that combination, so they got on the phone with the expert at Lennox during installation. It's working great so far. They also helped me get the rebates and inspections. PG County just started inspecting furnaces, and they had a little trouble setting that up, but we finally got it this morning (seven weeks after installation) and passed easily.

I've used them for 30 years. They are the best. They are honest, professional and reasonable. They are very, very good. I would recommend them to anyone I know. That's how good they are. They said they could take care of it for $225 which they did. The system has been working probably for about 7 years since then. They will never sell you anything you don't need. They give you service.

Davis and Davis supplied excellent service in every way. When our AC failed at the end of June, 2016, we immediately called Davis and Davis for an estimate on a new furnace and AC unit; they had installed the existing equipment that had kept us warm and cool for the last 25 years. The person who came listened to my accounting of how we use our AC and based on that discussion, we were given four options, with a recommendation for a mid-level price point. However, because some attractive features on a higher priced model, we chose that. In the process of making that decision, I sent several emails with questions which were answered immediately and completely. The installation took two days. The workers were pleasant and efficient, They had the AC running on the first day and everything the left overnight was neatly stored. I especially appreciate their attention to keeping a kitty door blocked so my indoor cats could not escape during installation. After the installation the crew made sure that everything worked, that I understood how to operate and maintain it, They also helped me complete Pepco, Washington Gas and Lennox rebate forms and explained the process to have the work inspected by the county and WSSC. The could not have been an easier process and considering the summer we've had, I am so grateful for our new AC. In addition to keeping us cool, our home uses less energy than other energy efficient homes in the area.

I called Friday evening after 4:30pm and they came the next day and replaced a circuit board. Cool again.

I just had a new system from Davis and Davis. The sales rep John was great to work with. John was willing to answer any questions. The install team came in yesterday and today and finished the job. They were very friendly and professional. The new system works great. The pricing was the best and top notch service. I would recommend Davis and Davis from service to install.

They are punctual and have a very experienced team that's transparent and explain the details well.

I have been a loyal customer with Davis & Davis for close to 18 years, and during this time received good service. However, i will not be using them again. I called on Friday because our A/C was working but not cooling so I asked them to check our freon level. They couldn't fit me in on Friday, so I scheduled for Saturday. When the technician arrived he told me there was nothing he could do because the system was "iced up." He was here for less than 10 minutes. At no time during my call to the company did anyone say that I should not run the A/C (for the little bit of comfort it did provide) because this could happen. And despite my loyalty to their company, they would not attempt to return later in the afternoon or before the following Tuesday (in three days). When I called to speak with a manager, she informed me that they have so many customers, they are not taking any new ones, so basicaly, I should just be happy with what I can get. No, thank you. I found another company through Angie's List with an A rating who graciously worked with me to fit me in.

Installation was great but buyer beware because it doesn't last. One cannot just assess performance at time of service - it ought to be good or you shouldn't provide payment. The question is does the service performed or product purchased last. Theirs, unfortunately does not. It's a scam - they bank on selling/installing equipment that will require costly repair. It's appalling - people's livelihood and health are at stake. My last AC unit lasted many years with annual maintenance and occasional repair. But the one I bought from Davis and Davis does not, despite annual service and freon replacement - why does newer, modern expensive, high end AC unit even require freon replacement??? If you are considering purchase of AC unit from Davis and Davis, ask them for their statistics on freon replacement for the unit you are considering. Get those stats in writing and then ask them what they will do for you if your unit requires freon replacement in the first five years, the first eight, the first ten, etc. get it in writing - if they claim this is a regular requirement, ask them for a more reliable unit that doesn't leak freon and ask them to back it up. We have to start collectively working together to hold these contractors accountable and support honest and honorable businesses. We are all generally willing to pay top dollar for honest and honorable products and services - that's why we are Angie's list members.

Let me first say this is a very common and very simple repair that anyone can do with just a screwdriver. Tons of videos on youtube will take you through it step by step. The replacement capacitor cost about $15 online, but I didn't have one so I had to call someone. I called in advance to make sure they had the part on the truck and to ask how much their minimum was for a service call. They said it was $95 for the first 20 minutes of labor so I made peace with that figure in my head. The technician arrived quickly and confirmed my diagnosis of the problem. It took him maybe 10 minutes to replace the capacitor while I watched. Then he handed me a bill for $305. About $110 for the part and $195 for the labor. I asked why the labor was so much and told him I had called in advance to check the rate. He said it took him at least 30 minutes to replace the part. I wrote the check and called the office as soon as he left. The office called back a few hours later and agreed to refund about half of the labor cost as they agreed the repair didn't take that long. They said they would send me a check. As I was doing my taxes today, I realized that check never arrived. The moral of the story is keep a screwdriver and a spare capacitor for your A/C compressor and you can easily save yourself $290.

We were very satisfied. The work was done in two days and they helped us complete the rebate forms. They submitted one for us as well. We had a builder's grade a/c and a 80% furnace replaced with high efficiency equipment. We are looking forward to the lowered bills. Davis & Davis has been very helpful in answering our questions and helping us understand our new equipment.

Again, Davis and Davis excelled. The tech initially thought my blower was bad, but then found that there was a bird that had fallen down the flue pipe. He removed the flue pipe, removed the bird, said there was really no need to replace the motor and also cleaned some of the interior parts that he said could cause me problems later. He was probably here 5-10 minutes more than the 1/2 hour, but only charged me for the 1/2 hour charge. Will continue to call them ever time I need Heat/A/C service (or to replace my A/C like they did 2 years ago)

Thomas came and cleaned clogged a/c water pipe on a Sunday when the hms guy didnt come to do it. He was friendly and professional and took the time to do a good job of unclogging the pipe. Without his weekend work the basement would have about an inch of water and damaged the house. Rate was reasonable. Would highly recommend them.

The sales rep came to our home first to give us an estimate. Very polite and cordial. Very knowledgeable on what would be best for us. But he did provide two estimates. One estimate was for a more costly efficient system and the other was very efficient as well, but at a lower price. The installers arrived within a few days and were clean, professional, cordial, very efficient, took time to explain all they were doing and provided any answers to any and all questions. I cannot say enough about this company and it's staff. Even the administrative staff is wonderful. When they provide an estimate, it's in the form of a bound booklet. I could just ramble on and on. But this is the summary of a 5 star company.

My central air conditioner failed Saturday night, tripping the circuit breaker whenever I tried to turn it on. Since it is 14 years old, I thought I would need to buy a new one. When I called at 7:30 Monday morning for a quote, they suggested trying to fix the old one first. The guy was here at 8:30, replaced the faulty capacitor, and had it running by 9:00. At a time when I am having trouble getting A-rated service providers to even return my calls, this was truly remarkable. Many local companies offer just one brand line of air conditioners, but Davis and Davis sell Lennox, Carrier, and Bryant. Of the dealers listed on the Bryant website, this is the only one I found to service PG County. So this will be the first place I call when I am ready to replace my unit.

Our air conditioner died in the middle of a heat wave. The company was swamped with requests, but the representative made time to come out to our home to do an estimate. They were able to install the new air conditioner within a week. They also upgraded the coil system to be in compliance with new standards. The job was done professionally and they cleaned up after they left (required a fair amount of work in our utility room to upgrade the system), if not for the newly installed components, we would have never known they were here. Now, a year later, we have continued to enjoy our new air conditioner and everything has functioned well without a single issue. We also use Davis and Davis for our regular heating and cooling system maintenance. Across the board, all of the technicians have been friendly and polite, always offering tips to keep the system running efficiently throughout the year.

I had a great experience with D&D. The sales representative was very informative and gave me plenty of time to ask questions. He even came back out for a second visit when I wanted to ask him a few more questions. We received several quotes and D&D's proposal was the most complete and cost competitive. They provided several options for me to choose from and weren't trying to up sell me the most expensive unit available. I went for the middle upper range of the options. I made my decision on a Wednesday and they were out to install the unit the following Monday. The installation team arrived 30 minutes early which was great. They got right to work and installed an amazingly quiet HVAC. If I had any questions for them they were promptly answered. The work was completed by early afternoon and the system was (and still is) working. Everyone I worked with was very personable and professional. I would be very comfortable working with them again.

Kevin and the crew did a great job. First they tried to fix my old AC. When that wasn't possible they did an install for all new AC and heat-by this time my equipment was over 25 years old so it was past due. They made sure I got as many rebates as possible- Lennox, PEPCO, etc. and even supplied a protable AC unit for the days the work was being done.

The first time they came out they thought they had found the blockage. While not as bad as the first time, it continued to leak water. They found the blockage and did not charge me for the second and third visit to fix the leak.

John Harper analyzed our old system and recommended a Lennox HVAC appropriate to our son's home. Very knowledgeable, customer-oriented. Explained everything very well, answered all my questions. Recommended Quality Air Solutions to clean our ductwork. HVAC installed over 1.5 days by Rich Sherwood and Andrew. Very professional job. Explained everything very well. Were on time--even early--and took great care to keep our home clean in the rainy, muddy weather. Highly recommend the company and these employees.

Everything went very well. I am extremely satisfied.
