I like to use this company because they had good consumer ratings and they act professional. I didn't give them all "A's" because they do not exceed my expectations. They do a good job, but they don't go above and beyond.

They could have replaced the whole unit, but they replaced the capacitor and saved me a lot of money. I was ecstatic. I would recommend them very highly.

My furnace died, and was blowing cold air. I picked these guys because they were the best rated. I spoke with Thomas Kerksey, in Kensington. I feel like I got my money's worth.

We have used them for heating and air conditioning exclusively for over 20 years now. We have had experiences with them where they could have sold us a new unit, but made suggestions to keep the old unit running instead. They are very professional and always come out for repairs when necessary. For example, we called them yesterday at 7:45 a.m. to let them know our air conditioner needed to be repaired. They were here by 1 p.m. and fixed the problem. Their prices seem reasonable, however I would not know since I have been using them for so long. We trust them and they do good work. I will continue to use them in the future and would definitely recommend them to others.

Terrible, terrible, terrible.. As I mentioned earlier, we have been service contract holders with Davis and Davis for four years. We have been living without AC upstairs in our bedrooms for almost three weeks. We first had to wait three days to get someone to even come out and look at our system. When the person finally came we were told our freon had frozen through the line. It so just happened that was one of the hundred plus degree days in Washington, DC -- I told the serviceman to please come back later in the day -- when I was sure the line would have thawed. I was told that couldn't happen. So we waited another three days (it was a Saturday and we had to wait until Monday) to have somebody come out to add the freon. I even told them I'd pay the extra amount for someone to come out on Sunday, but no one returned my call and they never came. When the guy finally came Monday the AC worked for less than a day ....so we called Davis and Davis to come back out. We were told the system was shot and the freon was just leaking out of the unit. My husband told the serviceman -- okay please have your colleagues write up an estimate as to how much it would cost us to replace the unit and let us know. Two days later we still hadn't heard anything ...how odd considering we were telling Davis and Davis we were in effect, ready to write a big check. Nevertheless two days later after we hadn't heard a peep I called back (please keep in mind that we'd been living in our basement at this point for a week ...my husband, 4 1/2 year old son and I all sleeping in the same bed). The woman I spoke with was very nice and when I told her what happened she said, "Oh, you're supposed to talk with XX -- she is the person who sets up the appointments for estimates." I said, "you mean there is a special person we were supposed to speak with just to set up an appointment for estimates?" She said, "yes." So I said, please tell XX that we've been waiting for two days for Davis and Davis to call us -- and no one told us we were supposed to speak with a special person to make an appointment for an estimate. I said, if XX doesn't call me back within the hour -- please tell Davis and Davis that I am cancelling my service contract and they will lose our business. I never heard back from them again. This is clearly a terribly run company with no sense of customer service or compassion. I wouldn't go back to them if they were the last AC/Heating company on earth.

They were professional. I also received another bid, but they were much more reasonable not with just the cost but with the time to complete the service.

Tom came diagnose the problem, replace the bad parts and refilled the Freon. He did a very good job even showed the bad parts, the wiring, and readings.

Very well. They came within a couple of hours. Kept in touch by phone. Very professional. We have an ac/heating contract with them as they did that major work several years ago. Very pleased with the response.

The problem was diagnosed quickly and the work was performed in a very professional and workmanlike manner for a very reasonable price. Off the top of my head, I can think of 2 other companies in our county that would have charged half again to twice as much for what was charged for this repair/replacement.

Since we had no heat during the night (but used a space heater), I called around 8:00 a.m. The person I spoke to was very friendly and we set up an appointment for between 11-1 that same day. The repairman arrived promptly (actually he were 5 minutes early!) and quickly found the problem and explained it to us in detail to describe what happened. Once he finished, he explained what he did to fix the problem. Invoice was clearly written and very detailed. Most of the cost was time for labor, which was accurate. Will gladly use again.

I checked out a couple of places for prices and while they weren't the cheapest they were in line with other providers. They were able to come out when I needed and give me specific hours on when they could do the work. I would use them again for future service.

They were excellent! I plan on having them come back out to check on the air conditioning. They are just a very professional company. They had a great crew; everyone that came to the door was so nice.

It was great. Kevin arrive on time. He cleans up after him. He also noticed a crack on the humidifier plate and tried to temporarily fix it so we can have the humidifier working while waiting for the part to come.

I used this company before based on favorable reports on Angie's List. My first experience was great - I had used them for summer maintenance, so I decided to go with them again for winter maintenance. A different representative came this time, Tom, who was very pleasant. He checked the filter, dampers, switches, blowers, etc. One thing extra that he did, which I really appreciated, was review our Aprilaire humidifier with me. We had never used it before and he went over how to maintain and operate it. He also labeled and explained how to used the dampers. These things always confused me - which way to set it in winter and summer. He discovered an additional damper that we had for our 3rd floor, which I never knew was there. When we tried to close it, we discovered that it was jammed against a joint. He didn't want to risk breaking it, so he suggested we just close the registers on the top floor. Regardless, I'm glad he pointed it out, and Tom was happy to explain it all.

They were great. A fellow showed up on time and was very responsive. I picked them because of how they were rated on Angie's List and it paid off. I was very pleased with their customer service, their level of responsiveness, just the whole thing. I would use them again.

When our furnace went out, we called Davis & Davis because they we knew the previous owners of the house had used them. They were friendly on the phone, and arranged a service call the next day. As promised, they called in the morning to let us know the range of time in which they would be arriving, and then came at the early part of that range. The technician was very friendly, and even showed us how to re-light the pilot on our own, and provided advice about the pros and cons of replacing the whole furnace. He replaced a part and caught our mistake of putting the air filter in back-wards. He worked quickly as well. All in all it was a very satisfactory experience.

The dispatcher did not call at the appointed time to provide me with the service window. I had to call them to make the arrangement. However, the technician did show up during the scheduled window. He went straight to work and replaced parts. After an hour I discussed with him whether we should just replace the furnace. He thought no, and that is when he told me that he would also have to replace the gas valve. He estimated the total costs to be $700. The final costs were much higher, $1140. He gave me a 15% discount because the total was so high, but the that still was nearly $300 over the estimate. Before he left he failed to replace the door correctly, and the furnace would not run that night. The technician returned the next day and discovered his error, and closed the door correctly. There was no charge for the second visit.

They showed up as scheduled for the estimate, put it together and delivered it within three days, and installed the complete new system the following week. The estimator and office staff were very helpful and courteous. The installers were totally professional, took their time and did a masterful installation. They made little mess and completely cleaned up before leaving. They even draped the path from the front door to the basement with canvas drop cloths to avoid dirtying our floors. They answered all questions patiently and politely. They also were the lowest of three bids. Highly recommended.

They did what they said they would. Good clean up. They noticed a problem and fixed it for no additional cost. The work was done in a timely manor.

I called Davis and Davis and was given an appointment 2 weeks away. The person on the phone was very polite. They called me on the day of the appointment before 8 AM to give me a more exact time that the service person would arrive. Twenty minutes before the time, the service man came and did the furnace check up. He was fast and check the heat system, he gave me a written and verbal report of of the system checkup.

I don t use anyone else as I have used them for 18 years. They are honest and reliable and they always do very quality work. I am happy I found someone I can stick with and know that my repairs are done great. I would recommend them to anyone around.

I called them that morning and they came out that afternoon around my schedule. They ended up actually fixing the problem that night. They were very honest, courteous and very professional. The technician was very nice and cleaned up after himself.

They come out whenever we ask them to and check out the heating and air conditioning unit. We are very pleased with their service and they way that they respond to our calls.

Came on time, checked my old thermostat and listened to me describe our current heating and cooling needs. Gave advice based on our habits. Looked over everything and answered all my questions. Cleaned everything out and showed me how to clean it too when I asked. All my questions were answered.
