Appointment was given to me for October 15 between 3 and 5 (10 days after my call). On the morning of October 15, I receive a call while on my way to work, to inform me that the guy that was supposed to stop by in the afternoon was sick, and that the appointment would have to be re-scheduled. A bit frustrating, since I had freed-up my afternoon for this appointment, but OK: these are things that happen. I then traveled the following week so called back on October 25 to re-set an appointment, stating that it should be during this week, since I already have 2 other proposals and want to make a quick choice, and precising that I am only able to be home in the first part of the mornings. I am (NO DOUBT WHATSOEVER ABOUT THAT) given an appointment for October 28 between 8 and 9. Come October 28. At 8:45 (I usually leaves at 7:30 for work, so I have already lost 1:15 at that point) no one has yet arrived. I call D&D. They ask for my address...Put me on hold...And tell me that appointment is for between 3 and 5 that day. That is way too much: a serious company can cancel an appointment at the last minute, but cannot screw-up with the same customer twice. The lady on the phone did not seem to care at all when I told her that I was upset and therefore would just drop any appointment and detail my poor experience in Angie's List. She just said "Oh, OK, good bye", and hanged up on me. So be it: avoid this company except if you can afford losing a lot of time. And I guess they do not even need your money anyway, since they made no effort for a potential $15,000 sale....

They were wonderful to work with. They seemed very knowledgeable. They did everything in the time they estimated. They explained everything to me.

I called late on Saturday because the AC stop working. They have an emergency service and the technician came on Sunday. He replace the AC motor and checked the system. The AC started working immediately. It was a blessing, considering that the outside temperature was more than 90 degrees. You cannot find a better service.

They will come out on the July 19th, if i do not find someone before that. Just submitting this report to make sure Angie's List has the right $ figures for the customers looking.

Our heat pump began to fail during a July hot spell and D&D sent a technician to diagnose the problem. He determined the coolant was low and recharged the system. Several days later the system was failing again and D&D sent out another technician who determined the system had a major leak and must be replaced as it was 13 years old. Kevin worked with us to identify a solid performing system that was economical and qualified for the $1,500 federal energy rebate. D&D also credited the cost of the refrigerant ($200) put into the old system since we bough a complete system which we appreciated. D&D was able to quickly replace the system and make our house livable again. The duct work adapter between the air handler and the house ducts was not properly designed and installed and leaked a significant amount of air into the basement. It took several weeks to resolve this issue and to get the proper heating element for the air handler. After a second visit, the air handler was repositioned and a proper duct work adapter was designed and installed and now the system works great. Through it all, every D&D employee was courteous, professional, and knowledgeable. In summary; great initial response, some responsiveness issues in the middle, and a strong finish. We would definitely recommend them to anyone.

This was an entirely excellent experience from start to finish. The person who gave me an estimate asked about my needs and preferences and then suggested two options (one priced higher than the other) for my furnace and air conditioner. Once I decided what I wanted, we set up a date for the removal and replacement of the appliances. The 3-person crew who did the work was extremely courteous, polite, and knowledgeable. I was amazed at how efficient they were. There were several problems related to the wiring in my house and they were able to fix them and install all the equipment in less time than estimated. In addition, they explained everything, showed me how it all worked, cleaned up any messes they made, and generally were the most efficient team I've dealt with. I would highly recommend this company and actually already have.

Davis & Davis was very responsive to the first request we made for an estimate. Davis & Davis spent a considerable amount of time looking all around our property before recommending putting it back under the house. They mailed us thorough written estimate within one week as promised. Once we decided to move forward with them, we had some difficulty getting the specific service provider to return our calls; we left four messages before finally connecting with him to schedule a date. They worked very closely with us to give us the precise dimensions of the new furnace so that we could widen the entrance of the crawlspace to accommodate the installation of the furnace, and worked closely with the other service provider who was widening the crawlspace entry. Their staff was very professional, arrived on-time, and immediately got to work disassembling the old furnace. Once the new furnace was installed, they took care to walk throughout the house to ensure the airflow was warm and strong. They also took time to explain to us how to use the thermostat, and how the furnace works. They were very helpful in providing us with the necessary paperwork for the tax credit (for high-efficiency furnaces). In response to our service call, they came the next day and did a thorough check, free of charge. Although we couldn't get the noise to replicate while they were here (doesn't that always happen?), they were very helpful and willing to return if we noticed the sound again. They adjusted the flow on one of the vents as a stop-gap measure, and as it turns out, we never heard the sound again. We have had no further problems.

We called on Monday, and got an appointment for Tuesday morning. The technician was very pleasant, on time, and explained every part of the bill to me. The problem was a low freon level; previous service providers had said they "must" do a leak repair. He felt this was not necessary yet, but wanted to be prudent. Then, he mentioned that the unit was probably under warranty and implied that the company (David and Davis) would work with them on reimbursement. The last provider was going to charge and NEVER mentioned warranty (even though THEY installed the unit). I am very happy with this provider.

This went quite smoothly. Davis & Davis had scheduled me an appointment within a day and a half, then called back when they had a cancellation -- they understood that I had an air conditioner problem on a day when it was 90 degrees. They were clear about the charges. Since they charge a flat rate for the first half hour, Craig spent the half hour testing the electrical conduits to prepare me for carrying this problem over to an electrician. Great service all around.

They were professional and courteous and I would use them again.

We initially called Davis & Davis to look at our vintage 1983 furnace because it was making strange noises and we had been putting off installing a new furnace. Our central air unit was also about the same age, freon for a coolant and not running very cool so we knew it also needed to be replaced. That being said, I scheduled a service call and estimate for the same day. The service man came as scheduled and identified the problem, which was the fan housing unit broken on one side. The service man suggested that since I was getting estimates and the furnace was still running, we forgo the $300 repair until we decide when and who we get to replace the furnace. He also gave some excellent advise on the choosing a new furnace and air conditioner. I don't remember his name but he was very professional, friendly and was genuinely interested in helping me make the right decisions when replacing the units. The estimator also came as scheduled, explained what models/specs would be best for our house, discussed several options and said he would send estimates (both email and in the mail) in a couple of days. I received the estimates promptly. I also contacted two other companies for estimates. The estimates were all within $500 of each other for similar work. Once we chose Davis & Davis, I spoke with the estimator on a Monday to schedule the installation. We could have had it installed that same week but we scheduled for two weeks out to fit our schedule. We came home Tuesday and found that the furnace has died. I phone the estimator in a panic on Wednesday morning at 8 am and he was able to get a crew out to my house by 9:30 am to start the work. The three man crew was friendly, conscientious about keeping my house clean and got right to work. The work took a portion of two days (day 1 was 9:30 am - 2:30 pm and day 2 was 8 am - 11 am). The crew cleaned up after themselves, hauled the old furnace/ac unit away and went over everything before they finished. The workmanship appears to be excellent and in the two week since the installation, everything is running perfectly. Overall, our experience with the six employees we had contact with at Davis & Davis was excellent. Everyone was professional, friendly and cared about the work they were doing in my home. We chose Davis & Davis because of reputation, employees and price. As a side comment, one of the companies I contacted for an estimate said they'd match any other estimate. I was already impressed with the people at Davis & Davis so had no incentive to use a company who would match another company?s price.

It wasn't a big job and they did a fine job. They gave me a good price and honored a coupon that was available. They did what they said they would and they didn't try to sell me more than I needed. The price was fine. I called a bunch of different people and they gave me a reasonable price. I was happy with it and would absolutely use them again.

I had been having trouble with not getting enough heat in the main room and a noisy return. Carmen was very helpful over several phone calls and steered me to scheduling an estimate for duct work. Mr. Davis was very informative and helpful in identifying a set of first steps to try to address the issues. The installation team was friendly and efficient. The best part is the changes addressed the issues - it is so much warmer and quieter.

Overall, I was satisfied with the service.

The company was very responsive and sent someone out the next day to perform the service. Prices were very competitive and the technician was terrific. He explained everything he was doing and offered some great advice on ongoing maintenance of the furnace, air cleaner, and duct work. Very valuable advice for a new homeowner like myself.

My overall experience with them has been very, very favorable. I would definitely use them again.

I moved in to this townhouse in 1986 and took a service contract with Davis & Davis. They are the only people I have ever used. I would give them all A's. Having the service contract has proven to be very beneficial because if I do have a problem like the heating or A/C goes out the service contract puts me ahead of new customer who are just calling in and don't have a service contract with them and just looking for a service. I pay around 225 for the service contract. They come out once to check the heating system and once to check the A/C depending on the season and the price for these visits are included in the service contract price of 225.

Not only did Davis and Davis provide the best price but they were fabulous to work with. Before hand not only did they come out and provide a free estimate, but the emailed me the user manuals for the furnaces that they were recommending so that i could be come familiar with them. We also talked about upkeep costs and i was able to evaluate that when making the final decision as to which system to choose. It took them two days (which is what they said on the phone) but came exactly when they said they would and installed a 94% efficiency Lennox Furnace and a 16 SEER air conditioner. They explained everything and answered all of my questions regarding maintenance. I went to work the second day and they finished early, but i had asked for them to call me before they finished so i could come back and look at everything. They called and happily waited for me to return. When i arrived i found that had removed the old furnace and completely cleaned up after themselves. They even a venting pipe that was crushed at no extra charge! I could not have had a better experience. I would highly recommend this company to anyone.

They were excellent. The individual who came out to give us the quote was extremely knowledgeable, courteous and professional. The service was performed on time. The 3 individuals that came out to get the work done were all very professional. Everything went as stated in the process and was right within the budget. Their price was competitive for the work that I wanted to be done. I thought it would be expensive, but they were little bit lower than as well as higher than others. If need be, then I would use their services in the future too.

The experience was fine, except they had to replace a part twice. If their equipment didn?t need to be fixed, the repairs would not have been delayed. Overall, the experience was fine and I would consider their services in the future.

I have used them for years. They seem to be efficient. I have used other companies over the years, and I had problems with them. I am on a service contract with them. I haven't had any problems with them. They are excellent! I have compared their prices with other companies, and they are similar.

They were exactly what they should have been. They were the most competitive bid for a mid range central air conditioning system. They were also professional, very thorough and I got a little detailed booklet in the mail as part of their bid. They came, did what they said they were going to do in the time they said it would take. It was delightful to have them. I would call them in future if I need them.

It was good. They were on time and kept us updated about when they would be there.

I have an inspection contract with them. They come out in the spring and in the fall to conduct checks. I find them to be good. They are prompt, responsive, and reliable. Their price seems a little high for me now. It went up a year or two ago. A lot depends on the person they send out.

First-time experience with this company went incredibly well. A gentleman named Ivan performed the furnace repair/work and was courteous, polite, and very professional! He didn't make me feel bad about wanting to repair my older furnace as opposed to replacing it! That was not my experience with the last company I had been using. The latter gave me a hard sell about furnace replacement, whereas Davis and Davis respected my wishes and did not press me to replace my system. I can't convey well enough my total and complete satisfaction with Davis and Davis. What a delight to have found this company! Thanks Angie's List!!!
