We called then for service when one of our heat pumps was not providing air-conditioning. They reported that 20 years of having 2 units connected to the same circuit had taken their toll, and sent out an estimator for replacement costs. The repair fee was credited to the cost of the unit, and the replacement was done quickly and efficiently. We will defiitely use this ifrm again.

They were on time, efficient, courteous and charged what they said they would.

I have been using them for the last 18 or 19 years. You can pay based on what your equipment is and stuff; you can pay couple of hundred dollars and they will do two checks in a year for furnace check in the winter time or in the fall and in the spring they come and do the air conditioning check, if you are on a contract with them. If any of your equipment fail whatsoever you just pay for the parts, you don't have to pay for the labor when you have this contract with them. I am satisfied with the services provided by them. They are very good. I would continue to use them.

I had other people come and give me estimates for the work. I was not only impressed by their estimate but also their customer service.

I needed a complete attic air conditioning system removed and then rebuilt with all new ducting and A/C units. They could not do the work at this time. He said they could handle it it in the Fall. I understand so I really have no feelings one way or the other. I do know from the past they are a very good outfit.

They arrived well within the window of time (which was after hours) and were able to quickly identify the problem with our AC. The repair person also advised us on potential maintenance issues that could arise in the future. Cost was below what I expected to pay. They also had to go outside, but had plastic shoe wraps to ensure that none of the rain or mud from outside (it was wet that night) got onto our carpet or floors. Would definitely use them again.

They installed a heating system for me. They are professional and efficient. They take responsibility for anything that happens and makes sure it is taken care of. I feel their price is good compared to others we have had quoted. I currently have a service contract with them.

Davis and Davis is the best. They are punctual, hard working and friendly. I replaced an old GE gas furnace and air conditioner. The new unit was installed in 2 days. They explained everything from start to finish. They were careful not to walk on our new carpet and did a great job cleaning up after. Their price is competitive with other estimates and I felt I got my money's worth. I am a very satisfied customer.

I have always found them to be very knowledgeable, very reliable. When I've needed service in between the maintenance visits, they are always there quickly, do an excellent job of diagnosing and fixing the problem, and have been very honest in their dealings.

We tried to get an appointment with them to give us an estimate for a new furnace and they never got back to us.

My furnace/air conditioning unit has two fan motors. One motor had failed and the other was overheating and would only work for a short period. The D&D tech explained the options, pros and cons, between a new furnace and just replacing the two motors. I chose the latter. Took 10 days for both replacement motors to arrive. I was kept informed about expected arrival time of the replacements. D&D installed both the day after the second motor arrived.

I have used them for almost, 20 years. They are on a contract with me; and automatically come out, in March. I can’t give exact details; about what they do. They know their business as far as, I am concerned. I pay them a maintenance fee; it’s automatic.

We recently moved into a home in Bethesda and wanted the HVAC system checked out and serviced. We were particularly concerned with the whole-house humidifier, which was not keeping the humidity level high enough for comfort. The technician arrived on time on the scheduled service date, checked out the system and showed us how to replace the filters so that we would not need a service call every year. He said the humidifier is working; the problem is that the forced air heating system dries out the air and we were sleeping right near the heating vent. Improving the insulation in the house would allow us to run the heat less often, too, which would make the air more comfortable. We were very impressed that he showed us how to save money on HVAC services in the future and recommended a course of action that didn't benefit his company at all. And he solved the problem: we moved our bed to the other side of the room and got our insulation corrected, and now the house is much more comfortable.

We had family visiting from out of town and my sister in law noticed the house wasn't cooling down. It was going to be a long two weeks so I needed to get this taken care of asap. So I called Davis & Davis who I have used before to check and see why my house wasn't cooling down. The motor was blowing but the air didn't feel cool. Once they arrived it took them less than 30 minutes to do the job. Found out I needed a little freon. Everyone slept comfortable from then on. I was very relieved the AC was fixed. Davis and Davis put my family in danger. My family bought a 50 year old home with 3 furnaces. THe furnaces are all old and were inspected by Davis and Davis in June prior to the sale of the home. According to the technician, it is all good. Four months (October) later, we wanted to have the furnaces checked in preparation for the winter and we called Davis and Davis to inspect the three furnaces. The same technician that inspected the furnaces in June came. He inspected all three and he said "The main furnace should not be turned on, otherwise the family might not wake up due to CO2 poisoning." I saw the heat exchangers were all cracked, had big holes and metal falling off due to rust. We had the main furnace inspected by 2 other companies and they automatically shut the gas valve off due to hazardous condition. I called the Davis and Davis and spoke to the manager, Kevin, and told him the fact, that the same technician inspected the furnaces and gave us two different reports within 4 months. He defended his technician saying that "My technician had been working for me for over 15 years. He will not make a mistake." We had our furnaced replaced by a different company who is also "A" rated in Angie's list. Well, this is December and the second furnace that was supposed to be inspected by Davis and Davis stopped working. We had it inspected by 2 different companies and they automatically shut the gas valve off. Again, they found the same problem as the main furnace and they said if someone just look at the heat exchanger, they will automatically know that this is deadly. We were charge $269.95 for inspection (NOT SERVICED) performed in October by Davis and Davis. Apparently, the inspection charge is different than the service charge. I am happy to pay that money if they really did a proper inspection. THey are a reputable company that is why we called them in the first place. But we will never use them again, especially after speaking to the manager the first time. However, I called Davis and Davis again about the second problem but they never called me back. Consumers--beware.

The service was great, quick and I would recommend them

We have a service contact with them and we have had them for a long time. We pay them in the summer. I am very satisfied with them. They schedule based on a 2 hour window and they schedule half a day. They usually call and get it done in the 2 hours and they always come at the time they say.

I've used Davis & Davis for years (since 1985, when I bought my first house). As always, the inspection was thorough and efficient. Eric explained in detail the workings of the furnace. He suggested that it might be time to consider replacing it, but he didn't give me a hard sell. I've also used D&D for the annual checkup for my air conditioning system. Same comments as with the furnace checkup. D&D does great work, treats its employees and its clients with respect, and generally does such a good job at it that both its employees and its clients stay with this company for years.

We have used this company for years to do the maintenance on our old unit... they were always courteous knowedgeable etc... they kept our system going a long time, but after it turned 25yrs old, we thought it best to replace. So, we called D&D and asked for an estimate. They came out and figured out exactly the kind to recommend and gave choices between different scenarios like high efficiency vs. regular, with and without a humidifier, with and without a duct return system, and so forth. Honestly, given our track record with them, we took a look at the estimate, exceptionally well-prepared, and decided not to even bother getting another estimate... we had that much faith in them. They did not disappoint. Everything from scheduling to phone service to installation to explaining how it all works to giving us all the papers for warranties, rebates, and instructions went as smooth as can possibly be expected. These folks are pros at what they do and at the same time, apparently understand and appreciate the concept of repeat service and building a loyal customer base.

This estimate for the new furnace and a/c unit from this group was slightly higher than the others, but we were confident the work would be better because of the care they gave in explaining their products and services. Everyone involved in the work -- from the estimator, to the installation team, to the administrative staff who helped me get a tax credit after the job was done --- was all excellent, courteous, prompt, and professional. We've had two follow-up maintenance calls since the installation. One was for routine maintenance and the other was to correct a problem. The same accolades apply to their work as well. Thanks!

My husband and I were looking for a new company to maintain our heating and cooling systems in our house. I saw the positive reports on Davis and Davis in Checkbook magazine so I called. I was suprised that I couldn't get an appointment for weeks since they were so busy. I know that business can be a good sign that customers want their service, but it also makes me wonder if they will be available when you need them.So I made an appointment several weeks away, and I picked a day that my husband could be home for this. The day comes, and I called to confirm the appointment. They had no record of the appointment. They offered to come in the late afternoon, but we were unavailable then. So I waited several weeks for this appointment and screwed up my husband's work schedule for nothing.
