They came in about 50% cheaper ($900 vs. $1,400) than the estimate I got from another company. They showed up right on time at 8 am, said they could be back within two hours with a new heater, they were there in an hour and a half, and had it installed within 45 minutes, working better than the one being replaced ever worked. They were courteous, cleaned up after themselves, efficient and reasonably priced. No hidden fees, no extra charge for diagnosing the initial problem, price quoted of $900 included parts and labor and tax and delivery and anything else they had to do. Only negative is that the person who installed the heater set the thermostat too high. I will definitely be calling them again next time I have any plumbing needs.

The whole experience was great. Calls are picked up promptly -- the guy on the other end gives an honest assessment and good advice -- including (as we know from previous experience) telling you if there is a better solution than having them come out. They were prompt, gave me status on whether the plumber would be on time from his last job, cleaned up well (after a messy job), were professional, explained the situation well, and both the call taker and the plumber gave (accurate) assessments of cost before undertaking the work. They took the time to give additional advice on preventing the problem in the future. Most of all they got the damn thing working without any other damage. We had one previous experience with them that was similarly great. Good people, those Blinkhorn folks. We're fans.

I left a message saying I needed plumbing work and left my number. Nobody called me back. I didn't consider calling again, since the very first step was disappointing.

My overall experience was good. My only negative was that the technician arrived at 2:30 for a 1:00 appointment. The office did call me to tell me he was running late, but I think that is more than just a little late. Once the men arrived, they worked quickly and were finished in 45 minutes.

After calling two other plumbers on Angie's List, and receiving no response at all, Blinkhorn responded within 1/2 hour. Ray was very business-like, assessed the situation, determined exactly where the leak was coming from and shut off the water to the upstairs toilet. Since I was planning on replacing three toilets, he gave me an estimate for the three but didn't charge me for determining where the leak was coming from. I will definitely have Blinkhorn Plumbing handle my future plumbing needs. I was impressed by their responsiveness, professionalism and courtesy.

The plumber left the bathroom muddy and wet; no attempt to clean up after. I had never had this experience with a plumber before. Then, he added to the bill, which we did not notice until after, that the work was not warranted, at all. We now wonder about what was done, though so far we have not had another leak. Still, we paid well and did not expect the mess or the lack of warranty.

He said he'd be back later in the day but did not return and did not call. The next day, he was late again. Over the phone, Walter Blinkhorn had estimated as high as $300, but Kevin, having seen the job, said it would be about $150, which seemed reasonable. I was pleased when the invoice was exactly that amount with no additional trip charges or other add-ons. The water heater has two thermostats, an upper and a lower. Kevin replaced both of them just to be safe. This may well be a standard workmanlike practice, but if he had replaced just one of them, I would have paid the bill and been none the wiser. A plus for Blinkhorn's professionalism, but offset by the invoice, which had separate spaces for materials and labor, but only the total price was entered. On the phone WB had said there would be a written estimate and a one-year guarantee in writing. Neither was offered, but I should stress that I have no doubt that Blinkhorn will honor the oral commitment if a problem arises.

They were on time and polite. My wife was home for the estimate and installation, and she says that they were well mannered and didn't make her feel uncomfortable in any way, even though she was home alone. There was relatively little mess, though we have a bit of rusty water on the carpet to get out.

Kevin, the plumber, was right on time, quite knowledgeable, and did the work rapidly. He probably spent 90 minutes in the house, and, given the fact that he had to come down to the house from Kensington, MD, I thought the price he charged was reasonable. I would use Blinkhorn again. For one of the bathroom faucets, he had to order a ''hot stem'', which he said he would get and then get back in touch with me for a time to replace it. This was 13 days ago, and I have not yet heard from him. [I will admit that I have not called the company on this, as it is low on my list of priorities.] But, it does indicate a certain lack of carry-through.

Work was fine, so was the price. Plumber left a mess..did not clean up the plaster broken up. Left a mess..

I was very impressed with Blinkhorn Plumbing. After spending much of a morning at Home Depot not getting my problem solved, I called Blinkhorn plumbing early that evening. Mr. Blinkhorn called me back early the next morning, and even though my project was in no way urgent, the plumber arrived at my door with parts in hand later that same morning within 10 minutes of the time we set up. Before he began, he explained to me precisely what he needed to do and told me the cost beforehand. He finished the work rapidly and left the bathroom clean. Without a doubt I would call this plumber again particularly if I ever do have an emergency.

We were quite pleased with the experience. They were very patient on the phone as wwe explained what we wanted and did everything they could to assure that we got the service that we wanted. They were prompt and courteous in installing the new sink. My only complaint was that they did not clear up as well as they should have when they were done.

The plumber was on time and I was very pleased with his friendliness and dedication to get the job done right, so we could have our ice maker. I would highly recommend Blinkhorn plumbing and I will definitely use them again.

The guys were here when they said they would be and completed the job in less than two hours. I wish they would have cleaned up a bit, but I wasn't too upset about that considering they had to cut out some drywall to get to the pipes. I was pleased they could come so quickly and didn't even blink when I was told the amount ($975). Later, when the relief wore off and shock set in, I thought it was high. When I called Mr. Blinkhorn, he agreed the price I paid was too much and sent me a check for $300 (the difference between what I paid and what the job should have cost). I would use them again because the end result was a repair and fair treatment.

They did great work and were very punctual and efficient. They explained everything so I could gain experience if it happened again.

MR. BLINKHORN AND CREW HAVE BEEN DOING PLUMBING IN MY HOUSE FOR 16 YEARS. HE IS RELIABLE AND HONEST. WE HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH HIS WORK. BLINKHORN HAS NOT DONE ANY LARGE JOBS FOR US BUT HAS BEEN AVAILABLE TO DO MOST PLUMBING WORK FOR THE PAST 16 YEARS. ALWAYS COURTEOUS, ALWAYS ON TIME, ALWAYS CLEAN UP.

WHEN OUR WATER HEATER 'DIED,' THEY RECOMMENDED WE REPLACE IT WITH THIS HEATER AND THEY INSTALLED IT. WE HAVE BEEN COMPLETELY HAPPY WITH THE RESULTS!
